Reviews for York River Yacht Haven
Fall Sailing is the best, and this was one of our weekends to YRYH., 2016-10-17
Captain: , Virginia Beach, VA (10)

Always a favorite destination of ours, and continues to be. We have lived thru multiple ownership changes with this facility; this one seems OK. The staff make it pleasant and enjoyable. Lisa in the office, Mary Rose at the bar, and Jason at the gas dock could not have been more accommodating and welcoming. We will surely return.

OPEN AND NO DAMAGE, 2016-10-09
Captain: , Wickford, RI (411)

We are currently docked at YRYH. No storm damage. Floating docks. Office closed today due to storm but reopens Monday morning at 9:00.

Very nice marina, 2016-09-04
Captain: , Cambridge, MD (10)

We had a very nice 4 night stay at York River Yacht Haven. It was clean and well appointed. The staff was very friendly.

Good Marina, Excellent Amenities, & Accomodating Staff, 2016-07-11
Captain: , Occoquan, VA (370)

Excellent slip reservation/confirmation process and nice floating docks. Marina and facilities have been updated since our previous visit in 2012--the pool and new/revamped woman's restrooms are especially nice. The staff was VERY helpful in transporting us to Yorktown Battlefield and nearby restaurants--Excellent service for transients! Suntex is in the process of making even more improvements, which should make York River even better in the future.

Getting Even Better, 2016-06-07
Captain: , Chesapeake, VA (80)

We've been coming here for years. In the last couple of years under different management, the place just seems to be getting better. Even the restaurant has improved.

Outstanding Marina, 2016-05-31
Captain: , Norfolk Yacht (20)

We stayed for two nights May 22/23 2016. Marina is well run. Facilities are in good shape and the restaurant is outstanding.

Great marina, Thank you all team YRYH., 2015-09-28
Captain: , Lac Champlain (105)

We stayed several months at YRYH marina.

During our stay, we have always been pampered by the shop staff. The owner Mr Martin is real gentlemen, he takes care of his clients, takes good care of its marina.

During the spring, a significant improvement was completed for the Ladies bathroom, fantastic.

Diesel, gasoline are of very good quality, very good floating docks, marina very clean, great outdoor pool.

Congratulations to the marina and the team of Mr Martin.

Captain: , Hampton, VA (291)

Been coming here from nearby Hampton for a number of years but hadn't made it here for a while. After a period of time where the marina was in a decline, their purchase by SUNTEX and hiring of Martin Lucas has truly re-invigorated the place. While the dock hands are somewhat inexperienced (like most marinas we've been to over the years), they hustled and listened to my instructions during a difficult docking in windy conditions. Couldn't ask for more! GM Lucas was constantly roaming the docks greeting guests and asking if there was anything he could do. I even found him scrubbing bird poop off a dock one morning! The floating docks themselves are in great shape, the ships store well stocked and the pool was
refreshing. I do hope they will replace the pool deck furniture during the off season since they are all in pretty ratty condition. About as close to a 5 star marina as I've found, at least in this part of the bay.

YRYH Exteded Stay, 2015-09-01
Captain: , Raleigh, NC (10)

Recently used YRYH for a 2 month stay to have some boat work done. Very pleased with the marina staff and with the majority of service provided by the yard. The only exception was problems with a contract mechanic they used for diesel service and I understand they terminated their relationship with him.

Shower facilities could use some updating but it appears that the new management is working to improve the facility. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Stay at YR Yacht Haven, 2015-09-01
Captain: , New Bern, NC (730)

On approach to this marina at the last green mark, we ran aground. (take a wide swing at last green marker) Called the marina on the radio and asked if we were on the correct side ofthe mark. Radio lady really was unfriendly. We made it in and when we checked in she gave us no information on the marina. No check in sheet advising us of of anything about the marina. No combinations to bathrooms, or information on Wifi. Management needs to train their employees on proper check in procedures! On the plus side, there is a nice marine store, restaurant (we didnt eat here but there were lots of people who did), and a pool. Nice floating docks too. Ladies bathroom had been recently updated but lacked shower curtains and so the whole shower area got wet.

Nice Large Marina, 2015-07-05
Captain: , Suffolk, VA (20)

I stayed here on the 4th of July. I was able to get in the marina with a last minute reservation. The marina was nice and the facilities were were abundant. The only issues I had was with the bathroom being a long walk from my slip. Also, the restaraunt service was lousy and the food was average at best. I'll be back, but next time I'll bring my own food. Its well worth trying this place out, but be careful when coming through the channel to the left side at the start of the slips...shoal water about 1ft during low tide!

pleasantly surprised, 2015-06-09
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (20)

We haven't been to York River for a couple of years. Things seem to be getting better, cleaner and more up to date bathrooms. The restaurant was fine.

We had stopped coming to the marina because the previous management was not welcoming. So glad to see someone experienced took over what can be such a nice facility.

Very Hospitable, 2015-06-07
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (10)

Our Yacht Club cruise stopped here in June 2015 - about 15 boats. The marina went out of their way to make our stay hospitable - both by providing a covered place by the pool for an evening gathering, providing extra knowledgeable 'dock hands' (service men from the repair yard) to help with tieing up the rush of boats, several visits by the marina manager to assure that no one needed anything, group rides to Yorktown for a festival, etc. That marina was in excellent shape, pet bags were provided, the store was well stocked, and the restaurant very good. We will be back and I recommend the marina without qualification.

Note that the marina no longer has a loaner car. However, we called Sammy Larrimore with Get U There Designated Driver Service at 804-815-1669 to pick us up, drive us to Jamestown, wait and bring us back. He charges $17 / hr (2015) and was very reliable and courtious. We recommend him.

Nice Marina/Store/Facilities, 2015-05-28
Captain: , Virginia Beach (133)

5/24/15 Got an end tie on the very nice floating docks. I thought we might have too much traffic as it was a holiday weekend, but it was fine. Everyone goes pretty slow. Easy in and Easy out. Restaurant on site is nice. The folks in the office/store are very friendly and helpful. Reasonable prices on a very large selection of boating items available.

Potential to be super, but struggling, 2015-05-24
Captain: , Lottsburg VA (127)

New owners and managment; many new facilities (added new floating docks, etc) struggling to establish high quality services. Staff and management seemed to be focused on "getting there" but have some rough edges yet. New on-site restuarant in same situation. Both have great potential.

Take advantage of the 3-day weekend specials, 2014-10-31
Captain: , Galesville, MD (192)

This may be off-season, or perhaps we just got lucky so check with them, but this wonderful marina offers 3 days for the price of two on weekends, at least in the fall. Floating docks, free electricity and water, wide wide docks, free loaner car, a swimming pool in the summer, a coin op laundry, nice showers and heads. Friendly people. Huge ship's store.

Great cruisier's stop!, 2014-09-24
Captain: , Arnold, MD (263)

The marina is a work in progress having recently been taken over by a Texas-based marina conglomerate. Formerly a family-run operation, the new owners are apparently trying to preserve this atmosphere by retaining some of the former emploees and, most importantly, continuing to provide a free loaner car for provisioning. The marina has everything a cruiser could want: helpful staff, floating docks, nice ships store, pool, laundry, on-site restaurant, very reasonable prices, and an associated repair facility. Best of all, because they provide free transportation, this is a super provisioning stop: several super markets and a fantastic local farmers' mart are accessible. We would give this five stars except that it is a work in progress - - it needs work. The bathrooms are marginal in terms of design, cleanliness, and repair. The WiFi is abysmal. Stay tuned: we'll be back next year.

York River Yacht Haven, 2014-09-12
Captain: , Fort Pierce, Florida (60)

We recently stayed two nights at York River Yacht Haven and were very pleased. The marina is a first class facility serving vessels from 20' to 100'. It's nestled in a quiet and well protected harbor. We were immediately greeted by 2 staff to assist us with docking and a brief overview of the marina services. The showers and bathroom facilities were clean, well-lit and tidy. We were pleased to find large green spaces for walking our 2 dogs. This was a very dog friendly place and we felt very welcomed. The marina complex includes covered sheds and boatyard services. We enjoyed walking in these areas and checking out all of the beautiful and unique boats. This marina is a great home base for exploring the historical triangle of Yorktown, Jamestown and colonial Williamsburg.

Sept. 1/2/2014, 2014-09-05
Captain: , Solomons, MD (1290)

This is a good marina. The York River Oyster Company restaurant was very good. We had a group of 9 and had great food and service. The weather turned hot and the pool was refreshing after a day of sightseeing in Yorktown. Also a great area for a morning walk from the marina. The ship shore has a nice selection of clothing and boat supplies. The staff was great and we had access to the room upstairs at the pool to have our dinner after grill out at the pool. We will come back for a second visit.

York River Yacht Haven, 2014-08-17
Captain: , Lottsburg, Va (264)

Spent 4 days at YRYH, new management making progress. We arrived at 6 PM and 2 dockhands assisted with tie-up. Facility is clean, staff friendly and helpful, nice floating docks.
We are here for 4 days and while we've been here before, its always been by land; the onsite resturant is pretty good. his is a 1st class facility, floating docks, very clean restrooms, a nice pool (it was 80 today), a friendly staff and as noted, a good resturant. Just across the York River from historic Yorktown, which is a well kept secret on its own. The docks are well protected from the Chesapeake, about 5 miles down river. We will be back, by water.

vast improvement, 2014-07-13
Captain: , New Orleans, LA (631)

We read some the the prior reviews with trepidation before deciding to try here one more time. Our last stay was a year ago the experience echoed the bad reviews from 2013. New management seems to have turned the corner. The store, which had been a dingy but impressive collection of miscellaneous hardware, is now better organized and similar in scope to a West Marine Express outlet. The dock hand give good directions on the radio and was there to take our lines. Every staff member was friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be working there. There is a brand new wooden promenade walkway. To the previous reviewers who said "it's a work in progress" I can add that a lot of progress has been made.

A mixed review, 2014-06-18
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (1288)

This marina has potential but in our experience it is not well managed, at least not for transients who definitely are second-string customers. The marina staff seems to focus on permanent slipholders and treats transients more like an inconvenience than an opportunity.

We arrived in heavy rain, proceeded directly to the dock we were directed to on VHF, and found no one there to assist us with lines. Once got ourselves tied up, two dockhands showed up--they had been dispatched to another dock by mistake. After the rain subsided, I plugged into the power post on the pier and found no power. I asked a dockhand about it but he had no clue and said he'd tell the dockmaster. Two hours later, with no action, I walked up to the office and asked for help. The dockmaster walked down the pier, examined the dead power post, and shrugged. To his credit he found another nearby power post that worked fine for me. When I left the marina two days later the non-functional power post had not been examined or repaired.

I tried to make a purchase in the ship's store, but nobody could tell me the price of the item I wanted. I was asked to come back in an hour after the store manager arrived. I did so and completed my purchase. The ship's store is large for a marina this size, thoughtfully merchandised, and has a good selection of the kind of marine supplies needed by yachts from 30 to 50 feet.

Fuel price at the marina was about 46 cents/gallon higher than I found at my next stop farther up the bay.

The marina is a nice facility with great dog-walking areas, but it needs freshening up and painting and it needs more attention to maintenance. Other than a black-and-white map of the marina, no handouts or welcomes from the marina staff.

To be fair, these folks seem to be trying to get their act together but it's my guess it's going to be a long and difficult process with present management. I won't be back.

P.S. We had dinner at the on-site restaurant and it wins the title for the restaurant that has provided me the absolute worst service in the past two years--and we eat out several times a week. Our waitress took our order promptly, but no water was served and no bread. Our wine arrived promptly. The first dish to arrive was the my wife's entree--about 45 minutes after we placed the order When my wife asked about the salad she had ordered, the waitress seemed flustered but returned about 5 minutes later with a salad and my oysters on the half shell (which were very good!). Then the waitress disappeared for another 30 minutes, appearing suddenly and asking if there was anything else she could get for us. Uh, yes, I told her--my entree. OMG, she said sheepishly. Would I like it to go? No thanks, I said, I'll just skp it.

Poorly trained waitresses like this should not be encouraged, so I left a 10% tip, lowest tip I've left in years.

Bottom line: this marina and its restaurant have a lot of growing to do. Present managment clearly doesn't have its eye on the ball.

New management - much promise, many challenges, 2014-06-09
Captain: , St Paul, MN (180)

Stayed twice, on first entry needed a tow off sand bar that was done quickly and at no charge.
We learned the marina is now owned and operated by Suntex ( that has taken it over from previous operator. Dockmaster explained the facility had deteriorated under previous operator and that Suntex was making significant improvements. The shower facilities, in particular, need attention. On-site restaurant was very good.
Will stay here again and expect to be able to increase star rating.

Good folks in the yard, 2013-11-24
Captain: , Norwood Co (10)

The marina is well protected and an excellent value. Ron, Larry and the rest of the yard crew are knowledgable, helpful and real characters. Hoprefully the new owners will smooth the rough edges in the marina operation and bring the operation up to the standard it deserves.

York River YH, 2013-11-20
Captain: , Deale Maryland (110)

The docks could use some work; however, well protected, great resurant and a deep swimming pool.

New ownership, 2013-10-27
Captain: , Edmonds, WA (460)

The marina was taken over by a marina corp, Suntex(sp). They have apparently kept the boat yard staff -- many have been there a long time. Restrauraunt closed, but is planned to re-open. Should be interesting to see the chnages.

Tied up dinghy for a visit, 2013-10-03
Captain: , Galesville, MD (993)

We anchored in Sarah Creek Northeast branch just across from the YRYH fuel dock so we didn't stay at the marina itself. (Selected four stars because I couldn't give an accurate rating and had to select a rating.) We did dinghy over for a land visit. Ran into the manager who said that the marina had "recently" changed hands and was now owned by Suntex. The restaurant was closed while they get liquor licenses etc. Seemed clean and pleasant. There wasn't much to see outside the marina but the neighborhood nearby.

Very nice marina Update: 2013, 2013-08-02
Captain: , Jupiter, FL (1236)

Just stayed a night, but service was good, internet was good, and the same old loaner truck was good.
Restaurant (inside) was not as good as before. Should have eaten outside.
The owners and most of the employee live onsite. Their service was quick and they found the right guy to do the job. It's not easy to get an ASKO washing machine repaired but they did it.
Good price... stay 2 night and the 3rd is free.
Really good restaurant onsite. Try the Jimmies!!

fuel prices are extremely high, 2013-07-18
Captain: , Chesapeake Beach, MD 20732 (190)

Marina is great, pool store and they drive you to the Yorktown park; very friendly and helpful.

Fuel prices are rediculous, I was going to get 200 gals of diesel but not at $4.61 when Solomons,l Rod & Reel, Harrington, etc., are at $3.62. Plan to visit but don't get fuel. Herringtom up the bay is $3.72 but $.05 for Boat US and $.10 off for 150 gallons, more off for greater volume.

York River yacht Haven, 2013-07-09

clean facility,washer/dryer $1!, great pool, loaner SUV,restaurant good but slow, nice showers and restrooms, good service yard and reasonable

We had an excellent stay, 2013-05-24
Captain: , New Braunfels (51)

We stopped here in October for a winter stay and departed for Maine on May 17. Our time here was wonderful. My interaction was primarily with the president of the marina, Danny, who was helpful in every way and remained on call after hours to deal with any problems or emergencies. Jan, one of the owners, was extremely nice and helpful and always made you feel like family. Also available on site is a well stocked ship's store and an excellent restaurant.
Wide floating docks make the stay very enjoyable.
Much to see and do in close proximity. Will definitely return.

Was good but running into hard times, 2013-04-24
Captain: , Gloucester (20)

We have kept a boat here for four years so we may have a different view than someone spending a night or two. The man who runs this place is at times openly hostitle towards the customers. Finger pointing, cussing at you and the threat of being thrown out is not unusual coming from the owner. Many of our friends have left solely because of his actions. No wonder they have fallen on hard times.

The good news is there are plenty of slips available. Enjoy your time here but if you see the owner approaching RUN. He's not likely to ask you if you are enjoying yourself.

Bathrooms are old, dirty, moldy and rusty. Last year the pool filters were broken and the lifeguards, when present, tried to clean the mess with a broken skimmer.

Great place to hide from bad weather, 2012-11-18
Captain: , Oxford, Md (130)

Visited 11/13-15 Nice floating docks, good restraunt, very nice staff, decent wi-fi, bathrooms only fair. Spent a few days here waiting for a northeaster to clear out. Very helpfull staff, nice ships store, courtesy car, nice lounge. The bathrooms are getting old and could use a real good cleaning but were useable (only thing keeping this form a 5 star review). They had a stay 2 nights get 3rd night free policy when we were there.

Excellent amenities and floating docks, 2012-10-25
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (80)

This marina is family owned and everyone I taked to was extremely friendly. The restraunt on site is excellent. The pool is great and bathrooms were clean. Not much in the way of grassy areas mostly a parking lot if that's important to you. The only thing that lets this marina down in the condition of its older fixed docks and the distance to the bay but still very sailable.

Trailer Sailor, 2012-10-02
Captain: , Smith Mountain Lake, VA (266)

Spent two nights here last week. Great floating docks and facilities. It is a large yacht facility but they were very nice and accomodating to a small boat sailor as well!

Tranquil and well serviced, 2012-09-19
Captain: , PooleUK (933)

As the previous posts point out, this is a family run marina, very welcoming, great service and a fabulous friendly attitude. Good shelter in all but strong Southerliy winds on the very end docks nearest the river, but superb floating docks take the worry out of the equation. Good shorepower, great wifi and excelent amenites.
I look forward to returning.

Excellent facility, 2012-09-15
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (220)

We have cruised the Great Loop and more extensively in Florida and the Chesapeake Bay. This is a fabulous marina; excellent folks who go out of their way for you, floating docks, pumpout, fuel, swimming pool, courtesy car, currently 3 nights for the price of two, free continental breakfast, even free shuttle service to Yorktown. Great place!!

First Cllass, 2012-09-06
Captain: , bear, de (364)

A great place to use as a base to explore the historic triangle.

Marine is in great condition. Staff is very helpful and facilites are top notch. A great onsite restaurant, free breakfast on the weekends and a buy two nights get one free.

Would return again inthe future.

A nice place to visit..., 2012-07-18
Captain: , Yorktown, Virginia (391)

YRYH is a pretty decent marina, as others have said; great chandlery. Matt in the store is super helpful, as is Danno in the service yard. Yard prices are high, and time of repairs is slow. Also, the "high speed internet accessible from any slip" is a joke. Otherwise, the marina is nice, clean and secure. Pool onsite as well as a transient lounge. Restaurant was under new ownership from the last time I'd been there...Can't say it's as good. Pump out is a little difficult to get to, but the local sanitation people will come right to your boat on the weekends and pump out in the slip.

Great Marina, 2012-06-30
Captain: , Richardson, TX (552)

This is the second time we have stayed at YRYH for a month. It is a very well run marina, floating docks in excellent condition, bathrooms are cleaned regularly, good restaurant; the free breakfast on weekend mornings (in season) is a bonus! No grocery store within walking distance but there is a marina loaner car for 1-2 hrs. at a time. Have had no problems with the owners or staff. We found no problem getting in to the slips.....we are a 49 ft. trawler. Buy 2 nights, get 1 free eases the dockage price which is still reasonable at $1.75/ft. We'll definitely be back every time we pass through.

Nice, but not great., 2012-06-11
Captain: , Gloucester, Va (222)

Yacht Haven is a good hurricane hole, relatively protected. It has a pool, which is kinda small, & the bathrooms are a bit dated. Does have a well stocked chandlery, although no bargain prices. The spacing between the slips is rather tight. Corner slips at the end of rows seem very hard to access & dock. Prices are a bit higher, reflective of the many big yachts that dock here.

First Class, 2012-06-07
Captain: , North Fort Myers, FL. (268)

First class marina with one of the best restaurants on the bay. Also has a great raw bar with outdoor tables. Their workyard is also known for quality. Worth a stay and dinner.

Couldn't have asked for more!, 2012-06-03
Captain: , Saugatuck, MI (144)

This marina is well situated for access to Yorktown, Jamestown & Williamsburg. The staff is friendly, courteous, and ready to help. They even provide a free continental breakfast on Saturday & Sunday morning. There is a nice restaurant and a marine store on site.

I made a mistake when leaving and damaged the port prop. The marina was able to pull the boat, set me up with a prop repair company, and we were able to remedy the problem. I couldn't have asked for more than that.

All things considered, I would gladly encourage travellers to make York River Yacht Haven their marina of choice for this area.

Great Marina and Location, 2012-05-20
Captain: , Dataw Island, SC (290)

We spent the winter and then some (Sept - May) while on the Great Loop at York River Yacht Haven Marina. It is a first class marina in every aspect - location for sightseeing Jamestown, Williamsburg, Yorktown, etc., every amenity you want and wonderful service. We highly recommend it for the night or the season.

Great place with a lousy attitude, 2012-05-15
Captain: , St. Petersburg (749)

We stayed here for 9 months in 2011-2012 as liveaboards.
The good:
good access to Yorktown, Williamsburg & Jamestown
repair yard, part store and nice restaurant on-site
West Marine close via loaner car
Nice, wide floating docks
The bad: the owners have a well-deserved reputation around the marina for being rude and treating boaters & staff hatefully, especiallythe slipholders . Their treatment of the slip holders and their personnel ripples throughout the entire organization resulting in a generally unfriendly and uncaring attitude toward their customers. These comments don't apply to Jan, the wife of the owner, who is extremely nice.

Outstanding, 2012-05-07
Captain: , Tiverton, RI (60)

We have just spent 4 glorious days at York River Yacht Haven. We used it as a base to explore the numerous historical sites in the area. The support by the staff at the mariana to accomplish this was outstanding. They provided trasnport to the various locations to meet busses to tour the area and were very helpful in advice of things to see and cost to accomplish our goals. If you want to exploer the region of Yorktown, Jamestown & Williamsburg, York River Yacht Haven is the place to stay.

First Class Marina and Yard, 2012-04-29
Captain: , Hampton, VA (2502)

Update: Currently docked here while waiting for warmer weather further north. Yard and Marina getting ready for summer. Everything is in great shape. Restaurant offers free breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays. Great for meeting other other cruisers. Pot Luck dinner every Saturday in the Transient lounge. Resturant food is great. Glad we stopped here.

Kept our boat on Sarah's Creek around the corner from Yacht Haven for close to 30 years. Marina facilities are fantastic, chandlery prices are reasonable and inventory unbelievable, therefore no real need for the short ride to the local West Marine Express store. Wonderful floating docks, and great shelter for most weather conditions.

Pump out location at bit inconvenient. Fuel dock is an easy approach.

Yard can haul deep draft boats.....extra deep draft on full moons.

Took my boat in for bottom painting and found out it needed to be soada blasted. They were not interested in having anyone but their sub doing the work. Only problem was that he only does this on the side and they were having trouble getting up with him. After a week I had had enough and took my boat up the creek to Jordan Marine. They had someone on site to perform the work so I was able to get the work done quickly. Other than that they have an impressive facility. In all fairness I must say that I have had major engin work performed there and have no complaints about the quality of workmanship. I would trust them to do so again, however, you should always check around because they are not the cheapest in parts and labor.

Facilities are some of the best I've seen in the area. There's a marine store, a bar / restaurant and a boat yard on site. The boats there are bigger. They have one fixed price for anything under 30 feet.

This is definitely a fancier place, not really for me on my fixer-upper.

Great marina with new concrete floating docks, very well equipped ship's store, best restaurant/bar on the chesapeake. It is all that it was billed to be in the other write-ups. They have a loaner car that is free, but you would be expected to donate to the gas fund. As nice as any we've seen (aminities wise) between NYC and here.

Staff was very accommodating and helpful. We informed them that we would arrive after they closed and were going to get underway before they opened. They gladly assigned us a slip and said it would not be a problem to call later to settle the fees. The facilities were nice and well maintained. The restaurant was nice with very good service and equally good food. Looking forward to my next visit.

We hauled out here in 2010 and had a very good experience. No hassles and the restaurant is good. Met some very nice people and enoyed our stay.

Nice facilities, kids loved the pool. They let us borrow their loaner car for the evening. Enjoyed staying here and plan to go back.

Stayed there for two days in the summer of 2010. One of the best of the bay.

Very Nice Marina, 2011-05-19

Although it is across the York River from Yorktown, the very helpful owners and crew will take you in their car to Yorktown. This marina has everything a cruiser is looking for. A great Ship's store, a pool, very clean restrooms, and one of the best restaurants in Virginia on site, all make this a great stop.

Outstanding marina, 2010-09-06

Probably the best marina I have ever visited. Awesome restaraunt and excellent docks/facilities. The best ship's store I've ever seen - I found repair parts to a diaphram pump that I've been after for years. We were there in 1997 and again over 10 years later and it was as good as ever.

Location can't be beat, close to Yorktown - a short boat ride across the river or long walk across the bridge. Car rentals will deliver to the marina from which you can explore Jamestown, Bush Gardens, and Willamsburg all a short distance away.

Full service marina, includinh haul out, repairs, ships store, outdoor lounge and inside fine dining. diesel prices best I have seen. Tricky channel with 2' of water starboard of red markers coming in. Do not ignore them. July 4th weekend brough an unusual amount of jellyfish into the harbor and that playe havoc with the air conditioner strainer. Had a lot of company cleaning strainers out at all hours of the night. Very friendly staff. Great food but limited outside. Better selection inside.

Stopped over the busy July 4th weekend and is spite of the overload of work for the staff they took time to make sure we were able to visit the local historical sites by loaning us personal cars and going the extra mile. Highly recommended. Floating docks. Great restaurant on the site as well!

The floating docks are nice, and the ships store is very impressive and well stocked. The restaurant is quite good. The pool is huge!!! The showers could use some updating, but we found the rest rooms were acceptable. The fuel docks boast the "lowest prices on the bay."

Dirty Bathrooms, 2007-08-01
Captain: , Ft. Myers (376)

Big sign on bathrooms saying they were closed for cleaning everyday between 10am and noon. They were filthy when we arrived at 3 pm on day one. Next day I went up at 1 pm and they had not been touched. I complained and they still hadn't cleaned them when I left on the third day. For $1.75' and $12 bucks for electric I expected better.

With the loaner car, it's a pretty decent deal. Was $1.75 in 07, but used rental car for supplies, etc. Lots of shopping close by.

Great Marina and Repair yard, 2007-05-13
Captain: , PAMLICO SOUND (4)

I have had my boat in the marina for 4 months preparing for the trip to Pamlico River, my new home for the boat and have been very pleased with the repair yard and facillity during the very cold months Jan. - May 2007. Great people to work with......
Tricky entrance at low tide, stay away well to starboard nearing the first set of finger docks. You may see the sand bar but during choppy fetch you may not just stay away some 10 yards away from the green marker.
Great food at the restruant, however a little pricy for me.

Somewhat isolated, but there is a loaner car for shopping etc. The staff is excellent and the facilities nice. The onsite restaurant is one of the few we have visited where the food exceeds the menu descriptions, very good. A good marine supply store. Good protection.
