Reviews for Yacht Club at Port de Plaisance
Decent but pricing is getting out of hand, 2017-03-25
Captain: , Annapolis MD (370)

We stayed a number of times at PDP two years ago and were quite happy. This year we stayed for three nights and question whether we will return.

On the good side: excellent dock and security staff, very close to the best supermarket on the island (although not as good as a Carrefour as it was when it was Grand Marche), lots of space for exercise, walking dogs, spreading out work projects and sails, very wide and secure slips with room for dinghy, etc. The casual restuarant at the pool is excellent, the two restaurants at the casino are fine (better to get in the dinghy and go elsewhere) and the gym and other "country club" facilities are quality.

On the bad side: very poor front desk staff -- they are nice enough people when you deal with them in person but it shouldn't take four attempts (via webpage, "info" email address, front desk email address and phone calls) to make a reservation,
a deteriorating retail and facility environment inside the complex (a number of places seem to have closed over the past two years) and you are in the marina most under the take-off path for the jets from the airport, which can get old.

Most ridiculously, even though they have now adopted very premium pricing (we were $3.50/ft + $0.50/kwh in March 2017), they charge an additional $2.50 or $15 per day for very poor internet service, plus a daily charge for the gym, plus 5% when you want to use a credit card to check out (a fact only mentioned when you check out).

Bottom line is I can see why the megayachts and pro crews on unlimited budgets like this place but we normal people will start looking elsewhere.

Very Good European Style Marina, 2014-02-01
Captain: , Mooloolaba (461)

Professionally run marina that has many super yachts but also caters to smaller boats. All mooring is stern to with buoys for forward lines in the south harbour and concrete finger pontoons in the north harbour. We are a 47 foot catamaran and docking and tying up in the north marina was simple and assisted by dock staff.

Wind protection is excellent although if stern-to in the south harbour the prevailling wind and rain will blow straight into the cockpit.

Showers are a long walk (800 metres) and are passable. There are good facilities in terms of restaurants, spa, hairdressers and an excellent supermarket all within a max 1 km walk. Security here is excellent.

Good place to leave a boat if travelling. Pricing very reasonable. Excellent wifi. Can be noisy on a Saturday evening as it is under the flight path and Saturday has the mst flights (affects most of Dutch side of Simpson Bay).
