Reviews for Yacht Club Montreal
Nice facilities and friendly staff., 2016-10-22
Captain: , Catawba Island, Ohio (162)

Great stay. We were there for 2 days in early October. Nice facilities, friendly staff and close to old town Motreal.

Very Very nice, 2016-09-13
Captain: , Catawba Island Ohio (530)

I can't say it any better than the last post, I agree. The only thing that I can add is that they have a 10 day rate of $1.50 per ft, which adds up to on of the best prices at one of the best marinas.

Wanted to Stay Forever, 2016-09-06
Captain: , Hobe Sound, Florida (450)

We spent 12 days at the Yacht Club de Montreal, five of them with our twin six-year old grandsons. We could not have been made to feel more welcome, we could not have been more conveniently located, and we could not have been in a better marina %u2013 anywhere. This is a very well-run and well-maintained facility run by a crew that cares. The dockmaster, Debbie Lapalme, is a constant smiling presence who is well attuned to the wants and needs of cruisers and who bends over backwards to insure that they are met, while supervising a friendly and willing staff. Secure state of the art docks with key card access, spotless bathroom and shower facilities complete with oversized towels, an honor system laundry room with washers and dryers that work, good wifi signal, and a terrace overlooking the St. Lawrence with picnic tables, lounge chairs and BBQ grills, all within the Old Port and within walking distance of Old Montreal, the Metro and downtown. Quite simply, it%u2019s among the best marinas we%u2019ve experienced in five consecutive months of cruising.

Simply the Best , 2016-08-15
Captain: , Newport, MN (103)

We spent a week here with Debbie and her crew. So helpful with everything, brand new courtesy car, great loaner bikes, fabulous IGA grocery nearby. Showers and laundry are immaculate, if only the showers had AC, would be perfect. With our AGLCA 10% discount and the current exchange rate, the $2.25/foot (includes electric) becomes quite reasonable. Front row seats for the twice a week incredible fireworks competition. Our first visit to Montreal and we were truly wow'd by the city and our stay at the Yacht Club. Highly recommend !

Yacht Club of Montreal, 2016-07-24
Captain: , Wickford, RI (1637)

Great Marina to use to be in downtown Montreal. Staff was helpful, especially Debbie.
When making reservations, be aware that some of the slips are narrow, so specify not only your length, but also the beam! In some slips the boats must have fenders pushed between them. Also some slips have finger piers that are only about 32 ft long. For us the original slip assignment meant having to back into the slip which was too narrow. The problem was quickly and pleasantly resolved by the staff. We should have given more info when making the reservation.
The Marina also experiences a lot of wave action/surge during the daytime hours from passing river traffic.
Well worth the experience!

Very nice marina, 2016-07-21
Captain: , Rochester, New York (203)

The docks are very nice and the staff extremely helpful. They came to the dock to help us in despite the rain that had come up suddenly. They walk the docks frequently to check on things. Debbie (manager) was very nice and wanted to make sure we were enjoying the visit. The marina is close to everything in the Old Town area. We will be back.

Very nice place to stop, 2016-07-09
Captain: , Groton, CT (126)

We were planning on staying here, Marina Port d'Escale, but it was closed due to the port strike.
So we checked with Yacht Club Montreal and got a slip right away. The staff was very helpful.
It is right in Old Montreal so everything you want to see is within walking distance. I really enjoyed
staying here and would recommend them.

Nice marina close to Old Town, 2016-06-24
Captain: , Grand Rivers, Ky (1652)

6-23-16 We didn't have the five star experiences the previous boaters had, but this is a very nice marina, close to Old Town Montreal.

The Old Town City Marina, which looks to have easier access and also a nice marina, was closed due to a workers strike, so this was the only marina available next to town.

Although we made reservations in advance, and were told to contact them on CH68, we could not raise anyone on the radio. After several attempts, we tried several times by phone before getting an answer, by this time we are inside an unfamiliar marina. We were told they didn%u2019t normally receive boats before 1 pm so they had to find a place to put us. There was no arrival time requirement when I made the reservation. I had given all of the specific information about our boat over the phone when I made the reservation, including my credit card number, but when I checked in they had no record of this. We stayed 3 days and the Wi-Fi was spotty at best with a Wi-Fi antenna. The day before our departure, I asked about a pump out and was told to let them know and someone would take care of it. I was at the office the next morning when they opened at 8:30 and requested a pump out and was told it would be 12:30 in the afternoon before someone could get to it. We decided to leave and pump out at a marina in Longueuil.
A nice marina, but apparently way understaffed.

YCM was a great stop in old town Montreal June 14-16, 2016-06-18
Captain: , Louisiana, MO (295)

This was a great stop in the heart of Old Town Montreal. Dozens of restaurants and tourist stores with a short walk (1/2 mile). Lots of taxis and horse drawn carrages. Debbie the manager was exceptional going out of her way to please. One of our top 10 Loop stops.

The Better Choice for "Old Montreal", 2015-08-03
Captain: , San Juan Capistrano, CA (90)

We stayed 10 days for a 33% discount. Debbie and staff were terrific and accomodating. Convenient to Metro (subway) and bus with IGA market a walk or bus ride nearby. Note they come to your slip for pumpout. Two negatives are very slow WiFi (working on it) and no AC in bathroom/showers (although they provide towels). Great location for the spectacular summer fireworks shows (best we've experienced).

The other nearby option, Port d'Escale, puts you in the middle of multiple tourist/visitor venues hence more musical performance noise and a "fishbowl" atmosphere.

The perfect place (almost), 2014-07-28
Captain: , New Bern, NC (140)

We've been here two weeks (family business in NY) and the staff and members have made it seem like home. Debbie, who runs the operations is right on the ball, and the dock guys are there all the time checking on things, carrying water and ice, retying boats that need it...The only downside (and this is in most of Canada) is the horribly slow wi-fi...Doing pictures on the blog is almost impossible...Still, five stars...Also, the perfect spot for the International Fireworks Competition - twice a week June and July - I saw three...

1205 PM - Debbie saw the above post and sent a Dock Guy down to resolve the internet issues, which he did - Full 5 stars now...

Best in town, 2014-07-20
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (404)

We usually stay at Port D'escale but decided to give this marina a try. the bottomline is that the Port's location is a bit more convenient but the amenities here are far superior. Very little swell, great docks and staff, exceptional showers. When is the last time you saw a marina shower that provides towels?

Good Stop For The Area, 2014-06-23
Captain: , St. Clair, Michigan (456)

Dock hands were helpful in getting into the slip. Lots of boat wake in the marina on the weekends and some comes from the tour boats going in and out. Main dicks are great. Good Power and water. Not a lot of grass close for the dog.

Close to the Old Montreal part of town with lots of shops and restaurants. About a 15 minute walk to the IGA (in a hotel bldg).

No courtesy car and we had a little difficulty with cabs but worked around it.

Good docks, helpful dock hands coming in, 2013-08-04
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6484)

Dockmaster assigned slip and sent dock hands to greet us as soon as we entered the harbor. New docks, anti-slip composition material nice to walk on. But the fingers are too narrow and very wobbly when trying to tie off. Good power, water, wi-fi marginal. Best rest-rooms, showers, laundry I have seen at a marina. Great location for visiting Montreal, close to downtown & Metro. Tour boats made some noise coming in and out, but not bad at all. Not a lot of grass for your dog, but adequate, poop bags provided at foot of dock ramps. Courtesy car may be available soon, dockmaster said there were working out insurance issues.

Great People, 2013-07-15
Captain: , Freeport, ME (608)

We arrived mid afternoon, and were directed to a slip. It was a tad confusing, as the dock girl's English was weak, but she ran to the end of the proper jetty and pointed, the hurried over to help with lines. Debbie, the dockmistress, has excellent language skills, and has hired an outstanding group of kids, most with good English.

The docks look new - they can't be more than a few years old. Rubberized decking over aluminum. Water and power are readily available, and pumpouts are done right in your slip with a portable hose system. The area is right on the edge of the Old Port, and well secured.

If fuel had been available, would have been 5 star - really worth 4-1/2 stars.

Not worth it, 2013-06-18
Captain: , Toronto, ON (1749)

The price is exhorbitant, the location is out of the way and the place has the feel of a prison. We arrived 20 minutes after the office closed so we had no way to get off the dock. They assigned us a slip but wouldn't sty to greet us and give us an access card so we were imprisoned on the dock until they opened.... still instisted on charging us $2.25 a foot though. I will never stay here again.

Very good stop, 2013-04-16
Captain: , Oka, Quebec (260)

Despite the channel wich can be "interesting" when the current is fast (june-july), this is a very nice stop. The restaurant was OK but a little pricey. If it's not raining, take a 15 minutes walk to Old Longueuil where you'll have a very nice choice of restaurants.
If you have to leave early in the morning, there's no service and you will loose your deposit for the entrance card (20$ in 2010)

Great stop in the Old Port; quieter than Port d'Escale, 2012-08-05
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (1476)

When we called to inquire, we were trying to decide to stay here or at Port d'Escale. The staff person we spoke to at the Yacht Club of Montreal said they were almost co-located but that their location made them quieter. We've stayed at Port d'Escale before and knew exactly what they were talking about. We chose to stay here, and it was the RIGHT choice for us. There was a huge loud festival taking place on Jacque Cartier Quai right next to Port d'Escale - so glad we weren't right there with the boat vibrating to the music. Much quieter at the Yacht Club of Montreal, but it wasn't just the quiet we liked: new facilities, new docks, clean bathrooms and laundry room ($1/load). Secure docks by use of an electronic key card. All this and just a few steps further to Jacques Cartier Place and all the the Old Port of Montreal offers. Very nice facility - we'll stay here again.

Awesome place, 2012-06-11
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1520)

We actually ended in here by mistake, wish I could make more mistakes like this. Very friendly staff and Debbie in the office was very helpful, and did I mention they all speak very good English. Very clean facilities including baths and laundry. Secure docks require pass key to enter. After getting settled the president stopped by the boat to say hello and welcome to Montreal.

Great Stop, 2010-07-25
Captain: , Wicomico Creek, MD (494)

Fireworks at night, cheap laundry, numerous dock hands, reasonable rates ($2.10 CA for a metro marina). In the heart of "old Town". Pump out at the boat, WiFi. Probably the best stop in Canada. The approach is an experience with swift current and confused seas but it is only for the last 1/2 mile.

Pet friendlier, 2010-07-11
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (1057)

Chose the Yacht Club over Vieux Port based on reports it was not dog-friendly. No problem with the Yacht Club. Metropolitan, so not an abundance of suitable areas, but we managed. A bit rolly on weekends from passing boat traffic, but OK when traffic tapers off. Very clean facility, friendly staff. Plenty to do in Montreal, don't pass it up!

Captain: , ft lauderdale, fl (65)

This is situated in old town also, and it is super clean. Staffed with very helpful people, 24 hours, . Free bike usage. Laundry a !.00 per load wash, and 1.00 per dry. Seemed quieter, and cleaner than old Port.
