Reviews for Xynides Boat Yard
Easily and quickly helped with temporary needs . . ., 2016-03-18
Captain: , Moyock, NC (984)

Coming in on the running tide, a boat upstream at the marina where we booked a reservation, could not get into their slip and needed ours for the night. Xyides Boat Yard graciously allowed us to tie up to their floating side tie dock for the night. Yes, they charged us to stay there, but the cost was reasonable and it helped everyone at the marina upstream. Thank you Xynides Boat Yard!

Offshore Sailors for Xynides, 2015-12-09
Captain: , Boston (100)

Xynides yard and owner Nick highly recommended for offshore sailors requiring dependable care in hauling and repair. Nick's the only guy in our 27 years with our Formosa 51 to haul us without "requiring" breaking down rigging and added sling on a 50T travel lift - done perfectly balanced and secure with room to spare - which all 50T and 75T lift yards till now failed to achieve. So why did we trust him? For dependability we learned in Gloucester MA to seek yards and personnel who have dealt with vessels that work offshore. Nick is a lifetime builder, hauler, and repairer of small sloops to large shrimpers, honored for his hauling skill by Mystic Seaport no less, and he's no teenager. We traded off the appeal of large glossy yards with lovely shower rooms for hard core know-how. Glad we did. Will do again. Class A work at a fair price.

Transition Failure, 2014-03-12
Captain: , New England (50)

Xynides tranisition from shrimp boats to pleasure boats is a failure. You can't treat pleasure boats and customers the same as you treat shimp boats. Yard overall is in disrepair and dumpy- from the docks, to the travellift, to the grounds. Most boats in the yard are in poor condition and quite a few look like project boats that haven't been touched in years. Be especially careful of the power - hot ground where I was - got zapped anytime I touched metal until I diconnected from their power.

Worst Experience ..., 2014-02-12
Captain: , Atlantic Coast (341)

Worst experience in 30+ years of boating and many different yards. Yes nice people, but ... Never called when they said they would. Missed scheduled dates for both haul and launch - of course without phone calls. Took over a week to get a quote for bottom sanding then didn't finish on time - had to sand 1/3 of the boat myself but of course the bill was only slightly reduced. Nickle and dime you to death - ended up being exceedingly expensive compared to any other boat yard I have used. Lesson learned - never again.

Down to earth, 2014-01-23
Captain: , Boulder, Co (319)

If you want flash, glitz and high prices, go someplace else. If you want a down-to-earth, friendly, inexpensive place where you can work on your boat, this is your spot. It's like entering a timewarp that takes you back 50 years.

One of Last Do-It-Yourself Yards, 2012-11-24
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (4015)

Xynides is an old shrimp boat repair yard that added a travel lift and changed to a recreational boat yard. They will let you do all the work on the boat, or they do some of the work. The staff is small and does not cover all areas of repair, but that leaves the boat owner to bring in the best outside contractors to complete the work (St. Augustine has many independent marine craftsmen). This is the yard where you will find locally owned boats.

Great Yard, 2012-03-14
