Reviews for Wright's Marina Limited
A very good place to stop, 2016-09-04
Captain: , Newcastle upon Tyne (463)

It's a small, but very well run marina. Has the usual services and a small grocery store/inn/restaurant about a mile away. Accessible by dinghy or courtesy car. The restaurant serves good food. We left our boat for winter storage, and it was apparent that they have the ability to properly service and winterise the boat. All the staff were helpful and Graham took us to the nearest bus stop for the coach back to Toronto. Some wake due to small boats passing in daylight, but nothing serious. A very good experience overall.

Great Stay, 2016-08-01
Captain: , Mystic, CT (180)

Super nice staff (Pauline, Jenna, Selena) and very helpful %u2013 Marina has: Wi-Fi, washrooms, showers, laundry, pumpout, fuel, 30 and 50 amp power, potable water, picnic tables with complimentary propane BBQ grill at each slip area, robust docks in good shape with several docks rebuilt, grounds are nicely landscaped, diverse and well stocked marine store, boat owners at marina very friendly. Marina setting very scenic and relaxing. Discount for loopers. Easy in and out. Much enjoyed our stay.

Great Stop Over, 2016-07-31
Captain: , Omemee (40)

Great staff friendly and helpful. A courtesy car available for a 2 km drive for supplies which are limited . Wifi is weak and sometimes a walk closer to the store is necessary for a good signal. Worst thing is the locals show no respect for speed pass the boats.

Wright's Marina is a great stop!, 2016-07-24
Captain: , The Great Loop (20)

A great place to stop when in this part of the Georgian Bay. Very nice docks, good internet, nice showers/washrooms, laundry, nicely stocked store with food staples, fishing tackle, etc., reasonably priced fuel, mechanic on duty for repairs, and beautifully landscaped "docktail" areas complete with marina-provided gas grills. But, the best part is the friendly, knowledgeable staff who went out of their way to service us and make us feel welcome. Loopers get a free pumpout or an $18 price reduction on slip rental. Oh and I forgot to mention the courtesy car that you can use to provision in Britt where you will find a grocery, hardware, LCBO, and restaurant all in the same building. This marina does it right!

Great Marina with Helpful Staff, 2016-07-14
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (4015)

2016 Update: We, again, enjoyed our stay and find Wright's the best place to stay in the mid-Bay area.

We checked out both marinas during our stay and are most happy with our decision to stay at Wright's. At least a two star difference in our opinion.

Beautifully landscaped, park-like area along the docks with picnic tables and gas bar-b-que grills make for a resort atmosphere. The staff were friendly and most helpful. The courtesy car is the owners's personal car, and it is only 2K to the small community store if you need provisions. The marina ships store has many items.

The narrow river provides great protection from stormy weather.

Wright's Marina is the place to stay along this stretch of the Georgian Bay.

Great staff and comfortable place to be, 2016-07-08
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2465)

The staff were great, as were the washrooms and showers. We enjoyed the pretty grassy area with picnic tables and numerous gas grills for use by the boaters. You can borrow the courtesy van to run less than a mile to St. Amant's marina for their small grocery store. We had a great lunch at the Inn there upstairs.

If you are a Looper, be sure to inform the staff to get the discounts and benefits they offer.

Great marina, 2016-07-08
Captain: , Wilmington,NC (230)

Very friendly and accomodating. Even put in a new cleat so I could get a better stern tie. Everything clean. Diesel, pump out, nice floating docks; clean nice showers. Especially cater to loopers. One restaurant, small grocery store in Britt is a short dinghy ride away or the marina has a courtesy car. Pretty area but remote.

A GREAT MARINA!, 2015-08-29
Captain: , Baltimore (40)

In trying to make our way across the Georgian Bay in late August, we kept ducking into marinas to get out of the strong winds and high seas. This was the best stop of all! Extremely friendly and competent staff made our landing simple and our three-day stay most enjoyable. The marina offered a free pumpout to all "Loopers" which is a big plus since some of the marinas charge exorbitant fees for pumpouts. The bathroom facilities were very clean. There are mechanics on duty most days in a shop that will attend to almost any boater's needs. The laundry facilities, although smalll, were quite clean and nice. Everyone in the marina was extremely friendly. We even got invited to "docktails" by boaters whose home base was Wright's Marina. It was nice to meet the local boaters who shared their knowledge of the waters nearby. There is a great little ice cream shop within close walking distance; and the ice cream sundays that they served were almost too big to finish (I did say "almost").

The marina had a courtesy van which we rented ($20 plus gas) to go to Parry Sound to pick up some supplies at the local WalMart. We spent the good portion of the day exploring Parry Sound before bringing the van back to the Marina. The entire trip cost us just over $40.00 -- a whole lot less than a Rent-A-Car company whould have charged us.

We are putting our boat up for the winter in Sturgeon Bay, WI, and plan to return to the Georgian Bay during the June/July 2016 timeframe. We will definitely be stopping at Wright's Marina on our next visit to Canada to renew old aquaintances, and enjoy a GREAT marina!!!

very protected spot, 2015-08-22
Captain: , Grand Haven (470)

We pulled into this marina with one engine. Staff was very helpful in helping us in. We had to replace the port engine. Our stay was longer than we had planned on. Dave the machanic did a great job getting us up and running. Restrooms are clean and the gas grilles are a nice addition. Well run marina keep up the good work.

As close as it gets to 5 stars on Georgian Bay, 2015-08-14
Captain: , Algonac, MI (1659)

Courtesy cars make up for the mile to the grocery store. Dockhands very helpful. Nice grills and free coffee. Boater's lounge exceptional. I thought charging an additional dollar for a shower was petty. I was at the land end of the dock and trapped until the boat behind me left.

Nice place, 2015-08-10
Captain: , Atlanta (770)

We stayed here the nights of 8/5-6/15. Great staff, free pump-out for AGLCA members (not a small $ savings in Canada). Mechanic Graham removed bow thruster motor, we took loaner car to take motor to Sudbury to be worked on. Laundry/showers clean and good.

Best Marina Experience on the Great Loop, 2015-08-07
Captain: , Chattanooga, TN (370)

We came in here on July 25, 2015 with a suspected broken transmission. these guys quickly diagosed the problem, eliminated all other (less expensive) possibilities, and got the parts on order to fix the transmission without taking it out of the boat. Because it is such a remote part of Ontario, it took a few days for the parts to arrive, but in the meanwhile, we were treated royally by Graham Lacey and his staff. Even though it was their busiest season, Graham was always available to us to answer any questions and to help us get a number of other minor issues on the boat taken care of while we were waiting for the parts. While there is not much in Britt (1 restaurant and 1 store), the marina has two very nice cars that you can use for a small fee to go to Parry Sound, to Killarney, or to Sudbury, all of which are 1-2 hours away. The marina has well-kept docks, excellent power, good wi-fi, clean bathrooms and showers. And in the end, after a 10-day stay, the cost came out to about half what the same repair cost us (on our other transmission) in Florida last year! To say I was pleased is the understatement of the year. I cannot say enough good things about Wright's Marina.

free pump out for loopers , 2015-07-07
Captain: , Holland (270)

this was a good stop after a long run from parry sound and a weather layover. staff was helpful and friendly, the washrooms and showers clean (plenty of hot water), a courtesy car to run a mile or so up the road to the only local restaurant and small store with LCBO. there is a small but well stocked ships store and a repair facility that can probably fix anything. there is a lounge that is nice to hang out in. wifi is ok. the rate was $1.65 can /foot and diesel was $1.28/ liter. this is one of those marinas that it felt like they really want your business.

Wright's Marina, 2015-07-04
Captain: , Sodus Bay, NY (29)

We stayed here for two nights after running Hang Dog Channel as rest stop and place to update our blog.

The staff were very helpful and friendly and the owner is keeping the marina looking good on an on going basis. The showers and wash rooms were very clean and the internet service was a bit of a problem at first because they use a login web page to authenticate through. After solving this, acess was no longer an issue.

Quiet Rest Stop, 2014-08-09
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

We surfed into Byng Inlet Stayed 2 nights 8-1-14 and 8-2-14 to decompress after a wild day on Georgian Bay. Potable water is on the fuel dock not in the slips. Bathroom facilites a good walk from Docks. Nice ships store. Dock hands could use more training in line handling on big boats on leeward side of dock in stiff winds. Many nice ssesonal boaters on dock, made good neighbors and helpful. Pleasant and restful stop. Good Kayaking area. Capt Helen & Chief Engr Bob onboard ALLEZ!

Nice marina, 2014-08-02
Captain: , Massapequa,NY (986)

Nice marina with very friendly staff, but nothing else there. Get lot's of wake action in the marina from boats speeding by.

Watch the vortex, you may never leave, 2014-07-22
Captain: , Nowhere,OK (1314)

It was going to be a little windy (30km) and gusts to 50km so I made the decision to go back 6 miles and tuck into one of Wrights Marina steel base, wood covered slips. Lots of help to get into the slip, we were all set in moments.

2014 rate is $1.65 a foot plus the ever present, ever popular, HST.

If you are a AGLCA member you get a free pumpout ($19.99 before HST, after is about $434.33) a deal.

Fuel was $1.43, gas is $1.60 If you are coming by, fill your boat and pockets with what you can, it goes way up in a few miles.

Crew in the front store had been told about my butter tart addiction and loaded me up with plain, raisin and pecan butter tarts.

I had projects that I had parts for and no desire, Graham send over his best guy that had desire and no parts and in just over an hour we were done. Nice to have some things buttoned up for the next few weeks

We got invited to Happy Hour on the dock, we thought 2 boats, turned out to be 12 of us clustered on the wharf. Very nice. I got fishing places to go to for Wed.

We 'rented' a car from the marina to go to St. Amant's Waterfront Inn & Restaurant. Panfried Pickerel was good but expensive. Store is 1.5 miles, walkable, but take the car and purchase everything in the community store.

We got back, 1/3 of the happy hour crew was on a nice deck and with a giant (seats 10) hand made cedar table. Nice group of people. Nice table, lots of good join work in a white cedar table.

Nice shower facility, we checked it out and both plan to take a teenage shower in the morning.

Good place, good shelter, stuff and parts, nice people, mechanics that know a wrench from a welder. You may think it's a long ride here. Get a butter tart and eat it. Ride goes away. Make sure you take a butter tart for the ride out.

Oh BAIT. They sell bait, you are entering fish country. They will take a bare hook, but show some respect, put bait on it. Wrights charges less than $4 for 2 dozen slimy worms. It is a deal.

Short form:Came, it was inexpensive, they were nice, good service done correctly and quickly, all the dock rats are very nice, spend happy hour with them.

Off on Wed with top secret GPS coordinates to the Henvey for a fishing hole that is easier to pull fresh fish from than the coolerss at Krogers. Can't wait!

Nice Enough!, 2013-08-12
Captain: , Cleveland (2029)

We spent 2 nights here waiting for a buddy's boat to be repaired and found the marina to be very acceptable. Restrooms and showers are new and conviently located.

Dock are older and somewhat unstable but no real issues. We would return here.

Wrights Marina, 2013-03-16
Captain: , Great Lakes (20)

Facilites are okay, fuel prices are good, ice quality is not so good along with the old docks. If you need any repair beyond very basic wait until Parry Sound or Killarney.

Good faciities, great people, and a courtesy car!, 2012-08-28
Captain: , LeClaire, Iowa (449)

We arrived after a long, rough day on the bay and really appreciated the courtesous, competent dock staff. The owner is on site and loaned us his car to go to the nearby but small grocery store. The marina arranged for the owners of the nearby Britt Inn to pick us up for dinner. We ate in the upper level dining area, which was upscale and elegant. The lower level appeared to be informal. The next morning we discovered that the rough seas of the day before had diislodged our battery box. The marina owner sent one of his marina men down to help shift the box back into place (2 8-Ds) and provided lumber to reinforce it, and only charged us $20 Canadian. A hands-on, helpful marina owner made this stop exceptional.

Wrights Marina, 2012-08-06
Captain: , Parry Sound (1031)

2012: You can never quite guage the quality of a marina until you have real problems. And as such I have upgraded Wright's to 5 stars. We whacked a rock coming through Rogers Cut, and sheared off the skegs completely and the props were completely mangled, with only one functional (partially). We continued to limp to Byng at 5 kts, while Graham and team came out to tow us in... They got us to a dock for the night and we were pulled out of the water first thing the next day (and this was on a Sat of a holiday weekend in Canada). The dirves were a mess and the boat needed to stay. However our home port was 75 km south of Byng, and that's where our car was. The cab would be $150 flat rate, but Wright's offered us their car and all they asked for was a $1 deposit and that we pay for the gas we used... and this was no beater, it was their personal car. The team at Wright's went above and beyond what they needed to do and exceed all our expectations.

2011: Easy access to pump dock. Well protected. Staff very nice. Place is very clean. Comfortable chairs to sit in while you are being serviced.

Good Stop-over, 2012-07-29
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1696)

Came in from Parry Sound from outside. All aok with this marina. The entrance into Bying Inlet is beautiful. Very nice staff. Little bit of a wake problem but I have had a lot worse at more fancy marinas. Diesel is $4.77 per gal plus taxes. Like previous post docks are a bit old but no problems. Lovely location, nice marina, good stop-over.

Average marina but friendly staff, 2012-06-30
Captain: , Clearwater, FL (150)

After a 60 mile run (6.5 knts) from Parry Sound in 20 - 25knt west winds we were ready to tie up for the night. Wright's is only about a 20 min. detour off the small craft route up the inlet. Docks are a little tired and power plugs little iffy, but voltage was fine. Staff very friendly and helpful. $1.60/ft

Good marina but out of the way, 2011-09-28
Captain: , Midland, Ontario (475)

The people and prices at Wright's are very good but its quite a hike in from the Bay. Unless you are making a side-trip to the town of Britt, or you are desperate for fuel or a spot to tie-up for the night, I would maintain my course out in the Bay.

They work hard, 2011-08-06
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

The marina still has the lowest fuel prices in the Georgian Bay. Good people who welcome your business. Courtesy car is available to drive to the LCBO 30 minutes away. Only limited provisioning in Britt.

A very nice marina. Restrooms are clean, staff is helpful. Small grocery store nearby; marina allowed us to use their vehicle. Wi-Fi was excellent. Well worth the stop if you are in the area

Captain: , Warsaw, Ky (875)

Very good place to stop after crossing Georgian Bay from Midland. Owners are on site and very helpful with anything you might need. Graham assisted us in getting repair to raw water pump.

Dock hands are knowledgeable and very helpful with docking. They are in the top 5% of the best we have encountered since starting our trip from Kentucky in 2009.

Courtesy car is a big plus. Grocery is about 1 mile or so away. Limited selection.
