Reviews for Wolverine Park Marina
Modest, but very comfortable, 2015-09-17
Captain: , Little River, SC (731)

Very roomy with a very long wall, excellent docks. Using a key to acess the docks was a little inconvenient for a crew of 5 (only had 2 keys, one for men and one for women) and the key deposit was high at $20, but it was graciously returned. Very conveniently located at the end of the main street in town. On the other hand, quite noisy with helicopters overhead all day going to the hospital and college at the top of the hill just south of the marina. Staff was very frendly and helpful. Being a college town, it has many restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. We were weathered in for four days and enjoyed every day and still didn't see it all. I'd certainly return, if I were passing through again.

Satisfactory docks, well protected location, 2015-08-10
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6484)

There are nicer facilities in the area, but Wolverine is more than adequate. Staff was very helpful, restrooms/showers were kept clean. Some of the cleats were on the small side, but overall sufficient. Close to several restaurants.

Terrific place, 2015-07-23
Captain: , Windsor (270)

We stopped over for a night on the way to the Weland. Great place, no complaints at all.

Nice Marina, 2015-07-16

Thrill of the Ride, Sandusky, Ohio

Very nice marina with plenty of water. Beautiful pier and restaurants with in walking distance. Great DockMaster! Coming from Key West, we have been to many marinas and he in the top three. Very beautiful sunset!

Great location, 2014-06-27
Captain: , Sandusky, Ohio (392)

Nice marina. Gated docks, good rest rooms and showers. Close to downtown. Interesting approach as you have to travel through a Sheraton with an overhead skyway to get into the marina. Price is right at $1.50. $1.25 with BoatUS. Staff is very polite and very helpful. We'll come here again.

Nice marina near the heart of town, 2013-08-10
Captain: , Harrison Twp, MI (350)

We always like staying here, because it has great facilities, gated docks, and close to restaurants in town. Price is right too.

An ideal spot for a stop in Erie, 2013-06-14
Captain: , Avondale, PA (448)

This marina is small but ideally located. As far as I can tell, there are only two dcks and they are mostly used for transients. The approach to the marina is interesting becasue you go under a sky bridge connecting a Sheraton Hotel to its conference center then turn east. There are several marinas and a yacht club in this enclosed bay and Wolverine is the furthest east. There are several restaurants within walking distance, including much of downtown Erie. There's a modest sized chandelry across the street as well as a US Customs Video Terminal about a block away if you're re-entering the US from Canada.

There's a marine museum within walking distance which has a full sized replica of Commodore Perry's Brig Niagara from the War of 1812 which sails out of this port. I wish we'd had time to play tourist!

the heads and showers are in great shape and the docks are individually locked to eliminate extra pedestrian traffic.

My only complaint is that WiFi was unavalable to us at the far end of the dock. The staff suggested piggy backing off the Sheraton's network but that didn't work either.

Awsome Marina with Great Staff, 2012-11-15
Captain: , Westerville (103)

Great marina with a great location. Nearby launch ramps to handle any size trailer boat. Wonderful, clean restrooms and showers. Close to restaurants, museums, the beach and pubs. Have gone here many times and will be back as often as I can.

Clean and Safe Harbor, 2012-10-01
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (778)

A good place to see Erie, PA from. Left our boat here for a week while we changed crew. Showers are clean, as previous review mentioned electric seemed a little "dicey". Occassionally someone walking down the dock caused ours to go on and off.

A little hard to find, but worth the effort!, 2012-07-17
Captain: , Saugatuck, MI (144)

This marina may be a little difficult to locate when entering Presque Isle Bay in Erie, Pa, but once you find the marina you will be pleased. The location of this marina is perfect for a trek into Erie, PA. There is a put-put golf course, and ships' chandlery at the marina office. The marina is located on the main street of the city, and the Sheraton Hotel is near at hand. There are several restuarants close by, and you can find the basic grocery items at the Rite Aid as you walk south on State Street. The only problem we had was an issue with electricty. The marina (as a whole) lost power on several occasions. Fuel is not available at the marina, but if you leave the immediate marina area and cross the bay, you will find diesel for those requiring that fuel.

Good stop., 2012-05-30
Captain: , Findlay, OH (186)

Boat US discount, clean facilities, nice staff (Dennis), would return again. Anchor Marina close by for parts.

Boat US capt, 2012-05-22
Captain: , Erie pa (97)

Have to go under skywalk but it is set to ICW guidelines at over 67'. Depth is anywhere from 12' to 6' and they will ask your draft . Up to 85' vessels have moored here !

Busy marina, 2012-03-02
Captain: , Olcott, NY (2536)

Close to downtown, lots of activity but it quiets down at night.
Food is close at hand, although grocery stores are a taxi away.
Weathered a very strong storm at their docks, winds hitting 75mph, and we were safe and snug.

Wolverine Park Marina, 2011-10-15
Captain: , Catawba Island, Ohio (160)

Nice marina, good floating docks and clean restroom/showers. Walking distance to good restaurants, etc. Well secured.

Nice spot to stop for weather, 2011-08-29
Captain: , Channel Islands, California (1149)

We stopped here on our westbound journey due to weather associated with Irene. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The docks are great. The price is right ($1.25 per foot with BoatUS, including electric and water). Easy access to town. I'd stay here again.

Wolverine Marine, 2011-08-16
Captain: , Lake in The Hills, Illinois (542)

Nice marina. The staff was extremely helpful. The depth in the basin was 11' and at the end of the long dock was 10.5 feet. Most of the slips were empty. We are a 48' sailboat with 6 1/2' draft and they gave us the end slip. No problems at all. $1.25 per foot with a Boat US discount.

Nothing exciting here..., 2010-07-15
Captain: , Newport, RI (10275)

I can't say a lot about the town of Erie. We took the walking tour as outlined in the Port Authority pamphlet and we were thoroughly unimpressed. There's not a lot to see and the map had us walking down a wrong street (we found the correct street), but I wouldn't walk down some of the other streets at night. If this is the best that they have to show, they've got some real problems. We also took a ride on the free trolley and had some very interesting traveling companions...

We were definitely one of the larger boats that they've handled at 40'. Bathrooms are adequate and they have 2 washer/driers @ $1.75 ea. Be careful with your mast height as the walkway above the canal into the bay is 64'.

We had dinner at Molly Brannigan's which was filled with college grad students in there for trivia night. The food was very un-memorable. We had lunch at Smugglers Wharf and and that was better, but simply average.

If you do take the waking tour, skip most of it and only visit Gannon University on 6th Ave, not 5th Ave.

Wolverene, 2009-09-06
Captain: , Whitehall, Mi (1754)

Nice facilities, reasonably priced. Nautical mueseum a couple blocks east.

$1/ft

Good Stop, 2009-08-17
Captain: , Cheboygan, MI (80)

I agree with everything that Capain JSchieff said, but rated it lower because they did not respond to hail or provide assistance. They give a Boat US discount, so the price is only $1.00 per foot (2009)

Pretty good stop, 2009-08-12
Captain: , Stuart FL Middletown RI (240)

Wolverine Park marina is in the heart of downtown. The docks were top-notch, with good power and easy access. The area is not bad, but a little gritty, so the marina has locked gates for security. Shower and restroom faciltities were OK. There are several good restaurants within an easy walk, and a nice waterfront park. There is also a decent ship's store just across the street and a couple of repair yards close by if you need a mechanic. If you walk inland a few blocks you can find a few fast food places and a convenience store with newspapers etc.

Wolverine Park was inexpensive and nearly empty when we stayed in 2009. The manager and staff were quite friendly. We thought it was a worthwhile place to stop.

Just a mediocre mariana but the two men working there are top notch. Rally know how to give directions and help you.
