Reviews for Wiscasset Town Dock
This is a nice stop, 2016-06-03
Captain: , Marco Is., FL (80)

Finding someone to talk to about the harbor specifics was difficut if not impossible but we showed up anyway and figured it out. We spied a mooring with "Town" stenciled on it and tied up. The mooring is solid and in very good shape. The Town Dock is usable as a dinghy tie up but has a very commercial feel. There are no services at the dock except nice public restrooms. The downtown area is a short walk/bike ride with historic buildings. There are a few restaurants and a few nice shops. Route 1 runs right through town. There are no services to speak of in town for the cruising population but a nice place to visit/moor. The current is strong and some wakes from the lobster boats, but peaceful. Preston Dunning is the Harbor Master and the after hours number, 207 380-3502, appears to be his cell. We left a couple of messages but he has not called back. The work number, 207 882-8200, is for the Town of Wiscasset, and they don't know anything about the mooring.

Neat Town to Explore, 2014-10-15

(6/27/14) Beautiful trip up the Sheepscot to Wiscasset. Harbor Master friendly & helpful. Floating dock easy in and out. La Garage
could be better.

Nice town but bypass it, not worth it., 2012-09-02
Captain: , Wiscasset ME (1435)

There is really nothing here other than Le Garage, Sarah's, Spragues, and Red's restaurants. There is no water, showers, fuel or electricity available at the dock. There are rest rooms but they are locked at night. The lobster boats keep the harbor churned up really well. Town ordinance requires $1 per foot to tie up, moor or even ANCHOR in Wiscasset. Don't waste the fuel, go to Five Islands or Boothbay.

No free dockage, 2012-07-20
Captain: , Oriental, NC (88)

Harbormaster Dan Bradford (207-380-1922) says the town ordinance does not allow for free dockage at this time and the fee is one dollar per foot for dockage or moorage. Still a great town with good restaurants.

One of the best restaurants on the coast of Maine, 2011-08-11
Captain: , City Island, NY (53)

I've been going to Le Garage since it opened in 1976. Each trip from NYC isn't complete without a lunch or dinner stop at this reasonably-priced, excellent restaurant. The menu has changed a bit over the years, but the service and quality of the meals has not. There's a really nice, snug bar in the basement for a more relaxed evening of drinks and light fare. If you go, you'll go back.
