Reviews for Wickford Marina
Very nice upscale marina and small charming town., 2016-08-12
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

Stayed for three nights 7-22-25-2016. I would be repeating prior posts so will just agree with what has been posted that is positive. We came in to hide from a storm and enjoyed a visit to the little town. Best by Dinghy. Power is 120 sine wave so only 208 if an issue for motors.

My First Visit - my new favorite, 2016-08-06

A great change of pace - a cozy, clean moderately priced marina. Great management and amenities. We will be back

Great Place, 2015-08-02
Captain: , Eliot ME (13)

If you want a quiet stop over, this is the place. Staff very helpful and courteous. Can use kayaks for free and the area is great for exploring. Still only $2.60 per foot.

great place too stay, 2015-05-25
Captain: , Hudson River (30)

I stayed at Wickford for two nights over Memorial Day weekend. The marina is in a great location with great access to Naragansett Bay! Community grill was awesome...didn't have to,dirty the boat grill! They also provide paper plates and condiments! Dock worker was a great help and very friendly! There is even a hot tub!

Ideal marina, 2014-09-10
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (30)

From the minute we called for a reservation to the friendly good-byes from Ryan, we were impressed. He went out of his way to make us feel right at home and even drove us to and from Dave's Market (which is a great store) for re-provisioning. Although we didn't use the amenities, they were there for our use. The marina is quiet, clean and well maintained. Highly recommend stopping here! It's well worth the pleasant trip up the river.

Cozy, accomodating and well kept, 2014-08-05
Captain: , Hertford, NC (215)

We concur with all previous comments. Paul and his staff are most pleasent and knwo what they are doing on the docks. The short walk to town takes you past 18th century houses. The two restaurants in the village are very good. The Place pizza spot makes great pizza and delivers. Don't let the surly boss throw you off the trail of their delicious pizza.

Great Marina, 2014-07-14
Captain: , Mt. Sinai, NY (243)

We had the pleasure of staying here for 3 days after July 4th. Great location, easy 10 minute walk into town. Outstanding deck at the marina with hot tub, tables and a gas BBQ. The marina also provides all the 'trim items' for your BBQ: plates, napkins, salt, pepper, utensils, ketchup, etc. If you are cruising Narraganset Bay, be sure to stop in for a night. As someone else noted, watch out for the rock on the North West side of the marina.

Excellent Marina, 2014-06-27
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (970)

This is a clean, quiet, and well managed place. The owners live on property and obviously take great pride in their marina.

If you are assigned a slip on the NW side you will have some fun with a well marked rock. Expect a helpful dockhand to carefully guide you in.

It is a pleasant walk into the charming town where a couple of eateries and many craft shops can be found.

GREAT STOP!!, 2013-09-08
Captain: , South Portland, Maine (847)

we cruised here to see a college friend. A little out of the way, 9 miles north of Newport , but a great little stop. Its quiet, clean and professional.

Top notch marina, friendly, serene and well-protected, 2013-08-04
Captain: , Wickford RI (70)

Wickford Marina is a friendly, serene and extremely well-run marina. Nestled at the entrance to the mill pond, it's very well-protected. The docks are solid, stable, and wide, with plenty of power. There's a great grill and deck area. The owner lives on the property and makes sure everything runs smoothly.

Wickford itself is a beautiful New England village, home to the Updike (as in John) family for many years and allegedly the inspiration for the village in the classic Witches of Eastwick. Be sure to check out the Old Narragansett Church, which dates to 1707. The walkway between the church and Main Street has flagstones commemorating each of the pastors of the church. Not to be missed.

There's a grocery store about a mile away and a liquor store even closer. The marina will give you a ride if you need it.

As you enter the breakwater at the entrrance to Wickford Harbor, proceed westward and do not take the left channel toward the center of town. Hail the marina on channel 10 as you approach red 10. Use caution when transiting the gut between Cornelius Island and Wickford Yacht Club.

Great secluded marina!, 2013-07-28
Captain: , Sag Harbor, NY (605)

This is a wonderful marina on a beautiful, protected cove. The slips are nice and wide with full length fingers and the dock hand was friendly and very helpful. The office staff is very helpful and friendly and will provide you with info and maps for things to do in the area. Town is about a .5 mile walk, and they offered to ride us there if we did not want to walk the short distance. Wickford is a quaint old New England village with lots of historic buildings and plenty of shops. They offer free WiFi and have a wonderful barbque area with tables, umbrellas, condiments, plates and pretty much everything you need, just bring the food. There is also a very nice, new and extremely clean hot tub overlooking the cove, for your use.

Nice Surprise, 2013-06-27
Captain: , Port Aransas, Texas (998)

A small very friendly and professionally operated hideaway that is well protected. The hot tub and the grilling area including everything but the food are nice touches. It is obvious that the staff enjoy presenting this marina as a showplace

Great Place, 2012-07-25
Captain: , Sag Harbor, LI (10)

This place was absolutley great! super clean heads, and showers. great ammenities including BBQ center, and a squeaky clean jacuzzi that is wonderfull. excellent help with docking, and the freindly staff really make you feel like you are their priority. one dockhand (Ryan) i beleive was his name, made himself available to personally taxi my whole family of 5 to newport after hours so that we could enjoy a night in newport. if that isnt customer service, i dont know what is! the personal service is just the icing on the cake. Great Place! will most deffinitley be returning next year, and hopefully years to come

Outstanding Marina, 2012-01-18
Captain: , Apponaug, Rhode Island (274)

The marina is clean, quiet and small when compaired to Brewers for example. The showers are spotless. The deck has tables for meals with built in stainless grills that all guests can use. The hot top over looks the harbor and is a beautiful place to watch sunsets. The marina is a quick walk to town which as many little shops. On the weekends free coffee and doughnuts await you. They also have frozen food from federal hill and an oven if you need food to augmnent your provisions. I always look forward to spending a few days at this marina every year.

Wickford Marina, 2011-11-09
Captain: , Stuart Fl (300)

A nice friendly marina within walking distance of downtown Wickford. Good floating docks with friendly management. At the end of the season there was not much activity. Very quiet at night.

Quiet marina, 2011-09-26
Captain: , Wickford, RI (937)

Owner lives on site and enforces reasonable rules. Very quiet and peaceful.

Great marina in fantastic harbor, 2011-05-28
Captain: , Here and There (443)

Friendly and helpful. Extremely well maintained and clean, including showers and restrooms. Easy walk into Wickford for restaurants and provisions, though you can dinghy around to the town dock if you wish. For fresh vegetables and fruits, its a longer walk to Dave's Marketplace. Perfect place to pick up guests flying into Providence.

A Really Pleasant Marina, 2011-04-24
Captain: , Pilots Point (466)

Hard to imagine a more pleasant and peaceful marina than Wickford Marina. Owing to its location the place has a settled and sheltered feel. Some destinations, like nearby Newport, you visit for the energy and the crowds and the attractions. Wickford is for the times when you're craving a calm, settled place.

I'll be back, 2011-03-23
Captain: , Orient (12)

I had the same experience cited above. Also has a nice town on land and great sailing outside the harbor

Two weekends in a row, 2010-09-22
Captain: , charleston (761)

This is a fantastic marina -- clean, friendly, helpful, convenient, etc. Wickford is a charming town within easy walking distance of the marina. We spent two weekends here because we had guests flying in and out of the Providence airport. Paul, the marina owner, personally picked them up at the airport each time. The first weekend we arrived the day of the marina's annual pot-luck party. We were iinvited to attend. What a treat? Cruisers love free food and drink.

A regular stop for us, 2010-07-28
Captain: , Apponaug, Rhode Island (572)

This marina strives to provide excellent customer service, and they succeed. Terrific place to overnight or enjoy a weekend. Very accomodating to transients. Rates are suprisingly low for what you get. Close to town, but why leave? Romantic hot tub, all inclusive BBQ area with tables surrounding raised flower bed. Free coffee and donuts on weekends and holidays. This is a regular for us even though our home port is only an hour away.

Nice Place, 2009-12-29
Captain: , Orange (50)

This is the nicest and cleanest marina I have ever been to.

Super nice place, 2009-11-27
Captain: , Chesapeake Bay, MD (311)

Clean, neat, well run, helpful, cute town, protected harbor are but a few of the reasons to visit this place. This is an owner run marina with a caring staff who will go out of their way to make your stay a pleseant one. We even needed to leave our boat here for a few days and they where kind enough to take us and pick us up from the airport. Now that's great service! I would be happy to return to this place.

Top of the line and friendly, 2008-08-24
Captain: , taunton, ma (20)

This is a GREAT marina; clean, friendly, quiet all at a fair rate. The dock hands are very helpful getting you into your slip, and in the office you will find a map of the town with some “favorite” places highlighted for you. The walk into town in short and easy; with the streets lined with well maintained old homes. The shops are very quaint and each has it own “flavor”. The floating docks at the marina are very well maintained. The cooking area is awesome, everything you need is there and there is plenty of room for your entire family. It is clean and the people are very friendly…what a great place! Showers and head are clean and the hot tub is the perfect temperature. I will make this a yearly stop over!

Excellent Marina in Quiet Location, 2007-09-12
Captain: , Newport, RI (249)

Wickford Marina is what most folks would like a marina to be - professionally run, helpful, nicely landscapped (without being overly done), quiet, and well located. Paul is the marina owner and his pride of ownership is easy to see and a pleasure to experience. The marina even supplies paper plates and condiments at the cookout area, which is near the jacuzzi - the Admiral will adore it. Wickford town is a quiet community with several excellent eateries, grocery stores, boutique gift shops, etc. - about a half mile walk from the marina through a quiet residential nieborhood area. A supply run to town will be better served using the town dinghy dock - the town is so small there isn't a taxi - either quaint or inconvenient, depending upon your perspective. Everyone is very friendly - the Harbormaster is Norm and is very cordial to visting boaters. Highly recommended!!
