Reviews for Whittaker Creek Yacht Harbor
Pleasant and economical stop, 2014-10-27
Captain: , West Gardiner, ME (735)

Previous reviews that staff are helpful are right on. Some aspects are dated, but restrooms were clean, laundry was adequate, and fastest wireless I've found yet this trip.

It IS inexpensive, 2013-06-21
Captain: , Jersey City, NJ (190)

and Knute was helpful. The facilities are run down, the pool is no longer in use, and the place seems to be running down, not coming up. The transient slips are exposed to SW winds, which we had, and the boat rocked uncomfortably all night. The wave attenuater didn't attentuate.

Not the Ritz but definitely a good choice to stop here, 2013-03-28
Captain: , Port Charlotte, FL (573)

Knute the owner/ manager and his dockmaster Brian were extremely helpful and welcoming. Knute talked us through the channel on the hand held vhf, and then they both helped us get on the dock and tied up. Knute drove me into town to get fuel, and Brian offered use of the courtesy car. Laundry and facilities were at our disposal. It's not the Ritz, but they are workng on the place and you can see it is coming along. But the bottom line is, the Ritz couldn't match their hospitality, and that's worth a lot.

Great working marina, 2011-11-14
Captain: , Galena, MD (1826)

Needed place to work on dingy motor and Knute provided a covered area protected from elements and had all the cleaners and degreasers needed. Quiet marina and friendly people. Knute will go out of his way to help.

knute is nice guy, 2011-07-05
Captain: , sassafras river, md (303)

stayed here on my trip south on the icw, (sept, 2010) needed some sail repairs and minor rigging work down, between the sailmaker (tops) and Knute the dockmaster they fixed me up great. the place is a bit rough put has everything you need for a few nites stay and the local grocery, etc is close so reprovisioning is a snap.

Sorry, not a five star place., 2011-04-13
Captain: , East Greenwich, RI (588)

First, I did get diesel here. I was scared after I saw the diesel storage tanks the marina has. But I had no iissues with the fuel. The dock staff was helpful. But the facilities (docks, laundry, baths) are dated. Sadly, I think they are a bit cash strapped and things are looking a bit run down.

Friendly and helpful, 2011-04-01
Captain: , New Orleans, LA (631)

Dockmaster was incredibly helpful at tie-up, and gave us a ride in to town for dinner. The walk back was just right after a great meal at M&Ms restaurant.

Nice Clean Protected, 2011-02-27
Captain: , deale md (181)

As other have said - nice, long walk to town, but its a quit place, with easy access to thee Neuse. Mainly long-term slip holders.

No more Fuel, 2010-10-15
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

We are told they no longer sell fuel. Not sure if this is 100% true. Stayed there earlier in the year, and a decent place to stay. Long walk to resturants, but many will drive you back home. West Marine is walkable, albeit a long walk.

Good owner, facilities, and "residents", 2009-08-03
Captain: , East Greenbush, NY (705)

We stopped here for about a week and a half. During this time we had to head home and both the owner and the resident liveaboards watched over our boat and adjusted lines as necessary. There's definitely the Carolina's niceness to everyone. The docks are OK, the showers are good and there's a nice pool too. The only downside is that it's a long bikeride to town. The rates are excellent with a great BoatUS discount.

Nice and Rustic, 2008-09-25
Captain: , Miami, fl (3544)

stopped overnight with a 70 footer in may 08, good stop. depth in the channel was 7 1/2 in spots (no winds) but well marked (although R3 was missing the day board). friendly staff. The onsite marine store is hit or miss, but you coudl find that part you were looking for... (we did!)

coudln't get Wifi at the end of the dock and no service thru ATT Cingular either. Cell phones were iffy too.

Great wifi, 2007-11-02
Captain: , orrs island maine (57)

We have stayed here twice and both times the people are great, the rest rooms clean and the wifi super.

Great Place!!, 2007-07-29
Captain: , Rockport,TX (1)

We're spending the summer here. Friendly town, has everything you could want and easy to get around. Great sailing area. Not a fancy marina, but we love it!

Isolated!, 2007-05-12
Captain: , fairland (2653)

Oriental rates itself as the sailing capital of the world. Maybe, but the resouces there hardly live up to that. Whittaker Creek is three miles to Oriental. There is a poorly stocked Marine Store on site, no restaraunt.. It was a good port in a storm, but little else.
