Reviews for Whitehouse Cove Marina
Decent Marina, 2014-09-23
Captain: , Norfolk, VA (165)

Whitehouse Cove is a fairly short tun off the Chesapeake Bay if you are running up or down the ICW. Newer floating docks are very nice. the real shining star at the marina is the restaurant, The Surfrider. Great food and a nice new building.

The NEW Poquoson Marina, 2014-09-21
Captain: , Seaford, VA (975)

The new website for Whitehouse Cove Marina is:

Recently reopened Spring 2012 after tearing out the old fixed docks and installing nice floating docks for most of the transient slips.

Surfrider restaurant is a good draw for boaters with some money to spend. (good ole Bubba's restaurant is all gone!)

Shopping, more restaurants and hardware store not too far away in town.

Great stop off the bay, 2014-07-01
Captain: , Portsmouth, Va (174)

A long run off the normal bay routes, but it is a great get-a-way stop. Nice floating transient docks, a pool, and great on-site restaurant (Surf Rider). Recommend reservations. Dock master somewhat aloof and hard to contact at times. Recommend Navigating in/out at mid/high rising for deeper drafts. Credit card transaction process could use improvement.

great service and facility, 2014-03-11

great service and location from the dock master. unfortunate some other have posted negative information, not everyone can be happy: valuable information on low tide follow navigation markers and on high tide follow navigational rules and markers! facilities and services at marina are first class. enjoy your stay....

POOR POOR Managment, 2013-11-18

The Dock master seems nice at first meet, but is not at all concerned with thewelfare or and comfort of the customer. I have seen Craig(dockmaster) get rude a few customers that were not satisfied with the service. Additionally, this marina is not at all well protected. I have docked here a number of times and during inclement weather. It is a bad place to be in heavy weather!!! The restaurant, well, I think the complaints others have had speak to the majority and echo well what I had to say. Bottom line, if your not from Poquoson, dont expect to be treated like a valued and important customer.

Surfrider Restaurant, 2012-10-02
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (555)

We read some bad reviews of the restaurant but thought we would try it anyway. Big mistake. They have a beautiful deck area with tables but you can not eat out side. It is a waiting area where you may have drinks and appetizers. They are not dog friendly. It seems they have many problems: the waitresses did not move when we walked in and seemed to know nothing about where they worked. It was impossible to even carry out an order as they thrive on the long line in front of the restaurant. It is not a relaxed, casual and fun place to eat outside over the water.

Showing promise, 2012-07-15

This facility is now dba Whitehouse Cove Marina. Lots of potential exists in the foreseeable future. The new Surf Rider restaurant mentioned in previous review is excellent, and was mostly full when we dined there. New floating docks are in, with Ipe wood walking surfaces. Bathhouse is brand new, and very clean. Approximately 30% of the covered slips are restored, with commentary from management that the remaining covered slip refurbishment and bulkheading will be complete by year's end. While construction contiunues, there is potential for noise, dust, and debris, but once all is complete, I would rate this a strong 4 star facility. One thing missing is cable TV at the slips, but the decision to install such may come during the modernization effort. As for now, consider this a diamond in the rough.

New Floating docks in. Transient docking available for those eating at the brand-new Surfrider Restaurant which is excellent. Repairs available just across the creek at York Haven Marina and Boatyard. Re-construction of the marina is nearing completion.
