Other services

Beautiful creek offers some anchorages nearby. Many boats anchor just off the marina and use marina services (bar, restaurant, etc). Very appealing weekend destination. 1/2 mile inside Rock Creek. The Creek offers best anchorage/marinas just outside Baltimore Harbor. 15 nm from the 'Inner Harbor' -- a very appealing, boater friendly place. Just tie up and call the Harbor Master (see signs for channel) for brief visits to tourist facilities (shopping, museum, USS Constellation, restaurants). Fishing in Rock Creek and the Bay nearby -- especially around the White Rocks at entrance to the Creek.

Reviews for White Rocks Marina
Former slipholder, 2016-03-21
Captain: , Tracys Landing, MD (422)

Had our first boat, a Catalina 27, at White Rocks for a number of years. Very helpful staff for first time boat owners. Restaurant is great...a great end to some around the cans Wednesday night "racing" in the nearby Patapsco River.

Well-run marina & yard excellent for DIY owners, 2015-04-29
Captain: , Weems, VA (51)

There are too few boatyards around these days that are willing to let boat owners do their own work and bring in outside contractors. The yard doesn't provide any services other than hauling and launching. The docks are in good condition and the restroom facilities are really excellent. Be aware that the office is staffed Mon. through Saturday from 10 until about 3, so if you're looking for a transient slip be sure to call and make arrangements early.

DIY Heaven on the hard, 2014-05-12
Captain: , Magothy R. (21)

We have used White Rocks as our winter haul out location for about 30 years. The thing that has NOT changed is that this is emphatically owner-operated, and reflects the priorities and wishes of one man and his one person office staff, not a corporate manager. He's no saint: if he doesn't want something to happen, it doesn't.

Over that time, it has grown more and more formalized, with improved storage area, consisting of better gravel surfacing, revamped power, revamped water, and revamped lighting. Through the winter, they have added "cattle fence" that keeps random wanderers off the boats while allowing easy owner access. They have also formallized insurance requirements; this may be related to the fact that both much of the dock rebuilding and the bathhouse reconstruction were largely paid by insurance money, and they probably have to be "Caesar's wife" for the insurance adjustors for the future.

While we have not used the slips for more than a few days, they too have come in for their share of reconstruction, with regular utility kiosks at every slip. The reconstructed bathhouse from 2010 has been well maintained and kept clean and in good rrepair for the last four years.

They have gotten more careful in winter storage sequencing, allowing for some of us that need extra time before launch. Over the years, we have had significant mechanical jobs to do, and there has never been a peep about "must use our workmen."

They have gotten more careful in their blocking, moving to 6x6's for keel supports instead of cinder blocks and adding "enviromats" (yard supplied) under each boat.

The "new kid" in the area, Mike's Crabhouse, appears to be very popular, though we haven't taken advantage. It was closed durning the winter.

Stayed for a week., 2013-10-23

We came to attend Annapolis Sailboat Show. Had issues with bad fuel in diesel. Tony DeTroy, well known local diesel mechanic had us fixed in no time. Saved us $400 by not having to polish our fuel. We rented a car from Enterprise and stayed 10 days. Lots of stuff to do if you have a car. Will stop back in the spring to visit again.

Great Facility, 2013-09-26

This marina has it all-great food and drink at Mike's Crabhouse (North) and wonderful facilities.

Great restaurant, 2013-09-06

Mike's Seafood North (Mike's of South River) is a great casual family restaurant. Local fare. Nice tiki bar for the younger set.

Dock Conditions, 2012-08-08
Captain: , Pasadena, MD (14)

Contrary to as advertised "docks rebuilt" - yes, they were rebuilt a number of years back - but now they are in constant need of repair and poorly maintained, loose boards, broken boards are a constant hazard to watch for as you walk any of the piers, especially E and D piers.
All in all, though - if your looking for a no frills marina, as i tell folks, it is a good location and dockmates on E and D are all friendly and helpful.

Had Enough, 2012-01-20
Captain: , Ambridge, PA (109)

We had our boat here for the 2009 & 2010 seasons. We decided to move elsewhere in 2011. Everything below is pretty accurate. The location is great, and the docks are in decent enough shape, but office hours are very limited, and there is virtually no local dockside community, so you're pretty much on your own. Likewise with the TravelLift... the yard crew is competent enough to haul your boat and get it blocked, but after that, you're again pretty much on your own.

I would reccomend this marina to a DYI owner looking for a place to complete a major project. The up siode of limited staff is that there is nobody looking over your shoulder when you pull out the power tools.

Has Potential -, 2011-09-27
Captain: , Crab Alley, Chester, MD (161)

Had my boat here for the last 6 years, but moved it this year; though I like the location as its convenient to the Inner Harbor and is a good run across to Rock Hall. A restaurant is being built, but don't know when it is going to open. No gas and the pump out is not convenient. Piers going from A to E are progressively more protected and also a bit higher on high tides too.

Friends don't let friends stay here, 2010-08-09
Captain: , Albemarle Plantation, NC (389)

We've had a slip at this marina for 3 seasons. This summer, we invited friends to visit over 4th of July. They arrived in their 41' Mainship. Their experience was unpleasant, and we were embarrassed for having invited them.

Highest overnight rates in the area = $2.50/ft.
No dockhand to greet upon mid-day arrival.
Transietn dock disgustingly covered in poop -- marina never washes down.
Office closed mid-day on a holiday weekend; so no ice, supplies.
Restroom/Shower, although new, barely serviceable.

Very disappointing.

Rudest Marina Experience I've ever had!!, 2010-07-08
Captain: , Delray Beach, FL (327)

You couldn't pay me to stay at this marina! As a professional delivery captain, I've seen a lot of marinas. While the physical property (though austere and barren) is not bad , the attitude of the front office gal, claiming, "This is MY marina...." was the worst I've ever experienced.
I arrived at 3pm on Friday afternoon of Independence Day weekend delivering an Island Packet 44 to her new owner. He had kept his previous boat at this marina for 6 years and had requested (and been promised) a larger slip for his new boat. Upon our arrival (they don't monitor VHF), I tied to one of 4 empty T-heads (not a fuel dock). I was told they had no permanent slip for us and they don't allow transient overnights at the T-Head due to storm concerns. (the weather was beautiful and forecast to remain so for the next few days). I asked about any overnight space so I could coordinate with the owner to find a home for his boat. She said they required proof of insurance with White Rocks Marina specifically listed on the policy even for transients and we could not stay. I explained that the owner's wife (She knew them both) was in the terminal phase of cancer, having just been shifted to Hospice that day (she passed the next day) and we really needed a spot overnight to sort things out. She claimed they had no room despite the 5 empty 50' slips on their large pier, offered us a phone book and left. Talking to several disgruntled slip owners on the docks confirmed that her attitude was "normal".

The good news is that the Maryland Yacht Club (across the creek) was the friendliest, most gracious and accommodating bunch of folks I've seen in a long time. They took us in, treated us like family and we had a wonderful time. I think the owner is going to join and stay there permanently!

Three-year slip owner, 2010-04-10
Captain: , White Rocks Marina (10)

I've been a slip owner since April 2007. I like the location for its easy access to the Patapsco River, and then to Baltimore's Inner Harbor or the Bay. The docks are well-kept and provide bubblers in the winter. The docks further away from the creek entrance provide better protection from weather.

The Windows on the Bay restaurant is gone now, but Mike's Crab House is opening a restaurant in the same building later this year (2010). The restroom/shower facilities are being rebuilt after a fire last year, which should provide a nice upgrade. I don't know anything about telephone/cable TV/ internet access, as I don't need those features.

Shower room burned to the ground, 2009-07-21
Captain: , Nabbs Creek (188)

For anybody needing to use the shower and laundry, the building burned to the ground a few months ago. They just told me that it will be rebuilt and opened by next spring
