Reviews for White Lake Municipal Marina
White Lake Muni 071917, 2017-07-20
Captain: , Edison Boat Club Marina (809)

Marina seems OK, but water is dirty and somewhat shallow.. Just north of here, in Manistee diesel was only $2.25

good location, great 22 mile bike/walking trail next door , 2015-08-27
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1804)

Good location to both Whitehall and Montague , Whitehall 1 block, Montague across the bridge. One block from a 22 mile paved bike/walking path, Really good paved trail/path. The Harborview Restaurant two blocks away is really really good in every way.
Big Grocery 1/2 mile across bridge in Montague. Several banks and a drug store and hardware 1 block. Marina diesel @ $2.88/gal.
Beautiful ride in on White Lake from Lake Mich.
Only real negative was the dock we were on was covered in bird poop when we arrived the Marina students, washed it off.

Muni Close to town, 2015-03-25
Captain: , Muskegon MI (265)

Great little marina near the downtown area of Whitehall. Stationary docks and when we were there in the fall of 2015 there was enought depth for a 6' draft. When we went the marina was unmanned so we stayed for a couple hours for free.

Very Quiet Marina, 2013-01-19
Captain: , Portage Indiana (503)

We've stayed here a handful of times and although it's nothing fancy it is one of our favorites. As others have said this marina is often overlooked and usually only has a couple boats at any given time. The restroom facilities are nice for a municiple and the staff has always been helpful and friendly. The docks are high fixed concrete. Be careful of shallow water especially on the far east set of docks.

There is a nice grocery store across the bridge in Montague that is an easy walk through a park for reprovisioning. We also found a great restaurant called Harbor View Grill. Ask for outdoor dining and catch a stunning sunset over the lake. If you have your bikes with you hop on the Hart Montague bike trail for a nice ride and finish up at Pekadill's for lunch and ice cream!

Marina was ok. Town was just so so, 2012-09-04
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1850)

Came in for a single night stay. Typical Michigan marina docks with high concrete platforms and fingers. Nice staff but lightley staffed. Club house was fine. As I have said before municipal marinas generly are good. The town of Whitehall is nothing to speak of. No close grocery store but a hardware store is just a few blocks away. Good for a night or too but not for any longer than that. Note that it is only open Memorial Day throught Labor Day. As mentioned on other posts it is an hour in from the lake. Kind of surprising.

Whitehall Municipal Marina, 2012-08-15
Captain: , St. Joseph, MI (814)

Good facility. Enough water this year. Close to shopping and restaurants. Auto supply store very close.

2012-July - Water was pretty thin: we couldn't get completelty into a slip with our 5.5-foot draft, but the bottom is thick ooze so it wasn't a big deal. Still a great place - and hardly anyone there.

Worth the ride through the lake, 2012-04-05
Captain: , indiana (331)

Great marina and overlooked by most boaters. I stay every trip and last year was one of omly 5 boats in the marina. Close to town and nice restaurants. Clean facilities and helpful staff.

Worth the run into Whitelake, 2011-11-24
Captain: , Grand Haven, MI (674)

Always skipped White Lake Municipal because it was a hour from the pierheads. This summer we were blown off the lake and headed in.
They couldn't answer on the radio but were very accomodating. Only a couple of other boats in the marina. The showers where clean and new and close. The park area was nice and we were able to walk the dog without problems. Locals were friendly and many were fishing on the walk that passed the marina

Great spot, 2011-09-11
Captain: , Cape Canaveral (1191)

We really liked this little marina. The staff was very helpful, even let us stay past Labor Day one day after they had closed. Came in early to pump diesel and for us and pump out the holding tank. Met some very nice cruisers here who invited us for their prime rib cook out.

Nice Marina, Interesting Towns, 2011-08-31
Captain: , St. Augustine, FL (4247)

The marina is 4.5 miles from Lake Michigan, but worth the travel distance. There were only 4 transient boats and one seasonal boat during our stay - not sure why cruisers miss this marina. Great state rates, new electrical/water towers, good fuel prices, helpful staff, protected harbor at end of lake. Whitehall and Montegue are interesting little towns to visit, with inventive sandwich shops, delicious pastry shop, bike trails, parks, and farmers' market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The farmers' market had beautiful, fresh veggies and fruit. Would be 5 stars, but only one washer/dryer and no free WiFi.

Long way in but good facility, 2011-08-30
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (7374)

Marina at far end of White Lake, but nice scenery along the way. Dock in good condition, fixed concrete with wood side piers. Clean restroom / laundry / showers right at docks edge. Shops a few restaurants couple of blocks (try Sam's Bistro) Grocery in opposite directiion, but easy bike ride on trail to get there.

Forgotten Marina, 2011-08-23
Captain: , Jensen Beach FL (138)

This marina is off the path down the big lake, but worth the trip if you need fuel. Don't know why but the whole marina is basically empty. Just 3 transient boats here. The facilities were rebuilt and well maintained. The fuel is very reasonable. The town is like many others, trying to hang on, some good stuff here but a lot of empty storefronts.

Friendly staff, nice facility, underused., 2011-07-16
Captain: , Milwaukee (93)

This marina allows free, short-term dockage (not overnight). Staff is accomidating and friendly. Showers and bathrooms are very clean. Laundry is a good price. Dinghy tie up no problem

It is a good 4.5 miles in from L. Michigan, but worth it.

Nice Marina, Not Much of a Town, 2011-07-06
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (138)

The marina is good with a great bath house, laundry and even a couple of courtesy bikes. We paid $31 a night for our 30 foot boat.

No problem getting to the marina with a 5' draft, though the weeds did confuse our depth sounder.

Docks are good with plenty of power outlets and water. It's a looong step up off a smaller boat. Short people (like me) may need a step.

The towns of Whitehall and Montague are pretty sleepy, even on a holiday weekend. We were disappointed to find that Crosswinds Marina's restaurant is closed and the nearest pub isn't open on Sundays. If you're looking for a nice pub and grill, this isn't the place. If you want to bike the Hart-Montague trail or enjoy a quiet day in the park, you would probably like it.

Nice Marina, 2011-02-02
Captain: , Grand Haven (100)

Quite a trip off the big lake but once there very helpful staff, modern clean facilties. Stores & reseraunts are a do-able walk away but farther than some. For the number of slips and modern facilities, it seems like it is under utilized, lots of open slips

Long way in!!, 2010-08-13
Captain: , Tellico Marina (290)

it is about 5 miles in to the marina. Marina full of weeds, staff does not respond to radio, nor knowledgable about local surroundings.
Towns qauite, but NOTworth the long ride in and the shallow conditions. Will NOT go back!

Good location, 2010-07-28
Captain: , Whitehall, Mi (1754)

Moxie Marina has a marine store, but go toward Montague not the Moxie Marina. It is on the east side of the road. There is also a grocery store in Montague.

You have to check out Armstrongs Bait and Tackle. You don't have to be a fisherman. It's fun to see what they have (wear shoes).

Concrete fixed docks are in good shape, but if water levels are low can be difficult to get on and off short boats.

Update: Marina was empty (3 boats total on a weekday) when we stopped by. Looking for a place to keep the boat for a month They offered $900/month adjacent private marinas were $300-450/month. City hall claimed the state won't let them reduce the price, but many other state and municipal marinas have offered discounts this summer. If you don't want to lower the price, that's fine but don't lie about it.

Pleasant Marina, 2010-07-21
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (167)

Friendly place for transients. Nice park and restraurants nearby. Clean restrooms. High step up on to docks

White lake municipal Marina, 2010-07-12
Captain: , Holland, MI (67)

If you don't mind the 4-5 mile trip from Lake Michigan to the towns of Whitehall and Montague, the municipal is a nice place to stay. Concrete docks and a new bath house a couple years ago. It's pretty weedy but the depth is good and the people are very nice. A great ice cream place a couple blocks away.

Stagnant, 2007-08-08
Captain: , Hilton Head, SC (1234)

White Lake Muni is at the far end of White Lake, where it gets pretty shallow and marshy which probably contributed to the abundance of insect life after dark.

well run clean, nice, 2007-08-05
Captain: , Key Largo (5457)

close to shopping and supplies, no boat store however
