Reviews for Westview Harbour
Fantastic as a stop-over, or as a destination, 2017-08-14
Captain: , North Vancouver, BC (568)

Huge upgrades to this harbour recently - the BEST showers on the coast, and super friendly and helpfull management. 30A power is easy to find, and the potable water is some of the best! "Main St" (Marine) is a short walk away, with well equipped chandlery, lots of small shops and excellent restraunts. You can walk "the hill" to the grocery store, or take the FREE shuttle.

Well worth stopping here - SO nice to see he upgrades.

Only downside is they do not allow you to BBQ on your boat (fire regs) - sure hope this has changed since we were there

2017 Update
Love love LOVE this place! And they allow propane BBQ's now, so it got even better! Easy to stop, easy to stay, excellent facilities and a wonderful town. We now schedule 3 days to stop - and are already planning next year :)

Fuel Dock is good ... watch the access, 2017-05-30
Captain: , Pender Harbour, BC (421)

Great staff, and nice fuel discounts! Took 1300 liters at $1.00 (better than commercial rate !!) A bit shallow at low water, but manageable.
Stayed ove one night, strong wi-fi and good (50A/30A) shorepower and good water. This is a commercial dock with transient spots, it;'s NOT a resort, but has access to groceries, restaurants, liquor store etc. within walking distance.

Someone answer the #%$# phone or radio!, 2017-05-29

Late May and not a peep when trying to contact. hope service better later.

Westview Harbour, 2016-09-11
Captain: , Kirkland, WA (4478)

Very helpful marina staff that responded to our VHF 66A contact looking for a couple of nights moorage. Staff went down to the docks to check on available dock space before calling back with space for us. Their very clear and concise directions to the moorage was very helpful. Upon arrival, staff was waiting at our assigned space to receive our lines and welcome us to Westview Harbour. Transient moorage is in the South Harbour where the floats and equipment is older but in good condition. The North Harbour floats and piles have been upgraded but nothing new yet in the South Harbour. Excellent provisioning and restaurants in Westview. It's a bit of a hike up to the shopping mall area but very nice views along the way. Did I mention the excellent restaurants?

Big changes going on here (update Aug 2016), 2016-08-10
Captain: , Powell River (89)

Update: Office hours are extended in the summer (mid June to Early Sept) to 21:00. BBQs are being allowed in the summer of 2016 as a trial, to reasses and perhaps change the city bylaw. No solid fuel. Mooring is always bow out in the transient harbour. There is a port hand day mark in the channel of Westview. Keep it on your port side entering and your starboard side while leaving. There is a high possibility that you will be rafting while in the trasient harbour during the summer month.

Powell River is finally updating it's waterfront! Westview Harbour is nerely doubling in size the winter. The entrance has shifted south with the extension and joining of the two breakwaters. New floats are currently under construction and will be set in place this spring. The wharf area is also being upgraded with new walkways and landscaping. The fishing pier will be reopened with a bandstand at the end of it. The North Harbour is also getting all new concrete floats and is being reconfigured as well. This summer, visiting boaters should be pleasantly surprised. Marine Traders has great service and fair prices. There are quite a few good to great resturants within an easy walk on Marine Ave.

Great location good facility, 2016-08-01
Captain: , Mullica Hill, NJ (688)

Stopped here on 7/16/2016. Easily put our 33 ft. Sailboat on the Fuel dock. Overnight docking was $1.30/ft. All alongside ties. In our case we had to shoehorn in between a CG Rib and two rafted boats one of which had a long bowsprit. There was only one 30 amp outlet on the dock.
The transients are in the South Harbour and it was a long walk to the office which was open until 8:30 pm both nights we stayed. Had dinner at the Coastal Cookery and the mussels were so good that we went back the second night for them again. We stayed an extra day as the Powell River Logger Sports contest was that weekend. It is now back after an eight year absence. Great show and a great venue. The chain saw artists were incredible.
Only drawback is that everything is uphill from thje marina. Prepare to get some excercise.

Great place to stop over., 2016-07-25
Captain: , Gig Harbor, WA (225)

We came into Westview on a Sunday afternoon in July. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Our boat is 45' LOA and there was no problem. Great water, decent docks and showers (1 Looney for 4 minutes). Short steep walk up a hill to a chandlery and a great coffee/bakery a couple blocks further.

Not for boats over 30 feet, 2016-06-05
Captain: , Whittier Alaska (839)

The staff and the dock ammenities were good. There was good electrical and good water. However, the marina channel was very narrow, especially at low tide. At the entrance there is a steel piling with a black and white square. Pass this pole to PORT when entering and to STBD when leaving. Do no get close to the sea wall. Then they "imporved" the wall all they did was pile a bunch of rocks on top and there is a shelf just under the water at high tide. No room to turn around. I would not recommend this marina. I am told Lund is better.

Good Marina with caveats, 2016-06-05
Captain: , Seattle (40)

Free Shuttle available only July and August. Office is open only 07:30 to 16:30. Laundry is locked at 16:30 last wash 15:00. 2 loonies wash and dry but only one washer. Very small Fuel dock. No reservations however will raft to get you in. Community BC Transit doesn't have good routes and very limited Weekend. Be back by 3pm. WI FI works only if you have booster antenna. Very Reasonably priced. about a dollar a foot in June

Very nice stop over, 2015-08-11
Captain: , Point Roberts (30)

Very reasonable moorage rates, well maintained docks, 30A power available. Nice helpful staff, shuttle bus available to go to town. Reasonable fuel prices.

very friendly, 2014-07-03
Captain: , Blind Bay (10)

Great spirit in this delightful town! Harbour staff very helpful, locals welcoming, nice clean free pump-out at South Harbour, lovely showers. A new restaurant has just opened well worth a visit - Coastal Cookery - just a short walk from harbour.

Excellent facility, great staff, clean showers, 2013-09-25
Captain: , Pender Harbour and Calgary (110)

Great place to stop for a good restaurant meal, laundry and food.

The staff in this marina have been awesome year after year that we have been going there. The new facilities have eased congestion, though the south harbour is not as convenient as the north harbour. Convenient chandlery very close. Large food stores are a bit far but there is shuttle service. Laundry frequently has line ups. Great place to pick up people flying in.

Second what the others say--plus great farmers market, 2013-06-30
Captain: , Bainbridge Island, WA (343)

Still no barbecueing, and doubt that will change because of concerns about fire safety--this harbor has the best fire plan I've seen.

The farmers market is a ways out of town, but the city is said to be starting a shuttle from the mall (which the current free shuttle will take you to) to the market and back. It's worth the trip.

Lots of improvements, 2012-08-30
Captain: , Seattle (690)

They have made many improvements over the past year, epxanding the breakwater and upgrading many of the docks. We were at the South end of the South basin (where they had 50 Amp power available). They had restrooms and trash disposal at that end, but currnetly, the only way to get to the main office is by dinghy, or walking along the road. The docks don't connect (fuel dock is between), but they are working on a walking trail to connect. This was our stopover heading South from Desolation, and made a good jumping off point for the trip up to Princess Louisa.

Nice place to stop!! A few good restaurants too!, 2012-08-22
Captain: , Anacortes (110)

Nice marina. Rates were approx $1/ft w 30a power. Had plenty of room in mid -August. Mgmt was very friendly, we ate at a couple of recommended restaurants nearby and within walking distance with a couple of rug rats with us. Great boating/fishing store nearby. Used washer/dryer marina (only one), they could use at least two of each... Ferry didn't bother us as in prev review...

Great Service, 2012-08-08
Captain: , Port Isabel TX (640)

The Harbormaster Dave was extremely polite and helpful. This marina was full if you think full is all the side ties and taken. We dropped our dinghy and backed down a loaded finger, rafting to the first vessel and stern tie to the main dock. Dave moved fenders on the larger fishing vessel and made sure we were sucure and safe. Wind came up during the night and the whole marina was rocking and rolling. We woke and watched for a while but were able to return to sleep without worry. Fast free internet and friendly neighbors. A great stop for us.

FANTASTIC Shower's!, 2012-07-16
Captain: , The Villages, FL (368)

His View: Absolutely the nicest/cleanest shower facility between Anacortes and Skagway! If you walk up "cardiac hill" to the Safeway be sure to take your daypack for lugging-back all the 'stuff!

Her View: Very busy ferry service to/from Texada Island and Comox. Constantly a noisy ferry either coming or going ... all the way up to 11pm! And do they really need to blow that loud horn EVERY time?! If you survive "cardiac hill" to the mall, the clam chowder and Greek salad at Moose and Eddie's were both WONDERFUL!

Fuel & Groceriy Stop, 2011-09-01
Captain: , Everett, WA (10)

Great Fuel stop - cheaper prices than stops to the north. Fuel dock at the southern entrance. Call ahead for moorage. Runs shuttle to a nearby shopping center, good groceries.

A nice stop over, 2011-01-10
Captain: , Sequim, WA (676)

Nice stores. Free Ice at the liquor store for boaters. Challenging docking at times due to angled docks and fishing vessels.

Westview Harbor, 2009-08-30
Captain: , Olympia (308)

Great facility, helpful staff, long walk up a steep hill to groceries, very steep ramps at low tide!

Decent resturants are available close by.

Fishing fleet willing to sell off of their boats (at least the shrimpers-- can't vouch for others)

Nice walking trail north to Powell River, car camping at park north of marina.

Deserves 5 stars if grocery store were closer.
