Reviews for Westerly Marina
Professional Boatyard, 2016-08-04
Captain: , Piermont, NY (50)

This facility is a professional working boatyard that can provide all services. I had them redo my britework and they did an excellent job for a reasonable price. They also do fiberglass work, Awlgrip painting, mechanical repairs. The marina is decent, the people are seasoned and reliable. There is nothing fancy here, it is NOT a yacht club type of place. The Boathouse Restaurant is right next door and is a terrific choice for view and food. The MetroNorth train is a 3 minute walk and goes directly to Manhattan. There really is no place to easily explore on foot outside of the marina. I do recommend their services, their easy to access fuel dock and pumpout, and their store is a god-send for this area!

Not recommended for anything other than fueling up., 2015-10-11

Not a welcoming experience. Docks are in rough shape, and are definitely home made without much stability, let alone solid cleats to tie off from. Thought we would take the train from here, but it just was too scary at night to venture off of our boat. This is a working boatyard set amongst old warehouses with seemingly endless barbwire fences, and not lit up right for some reason. No town around to walk to from the industrial park it's in. There was no water working during our entire stay and electric was constantly fluctuating voltage. They seemed very friendly and personable on the phone when I first called, but next time we will try someplace else for sure.

Good Marina and Ships Store, 2015-07-27
Captain: , Cincinnati (1810)

Marina can be abit rocky from passing boats despite thier efforts with break walls. We were on a dock that was being refurbished and did not have water service but the new dock looks nice. The pumpout also didn't work. The family that owns and runs the place are very friendly and helpful. We came in at closing time on Memorial Day and they finished taking care of us without making us feel bad for holding them up from thier festivities. The fuel is a bit pricey and the pumps are slow but the dock fees were the one of the lowest in the area. I would definitely stay here again. It seems to be a very friendly group of boaters here also. If you are looking for a resort harbour, this is not it but if you are looking for a safe tie up for the night, this will work.

Excellent, Reasonable Pricing, 2014-11-08
Captain: , New York (264)

Not sure what the agenda is with these other reviewers, but I found Westerly to be professional and reasonably priced. Great location with the Boathouse Cafe on one side and Metro North on the other.

Won't repeat this disaster, 2014-06-21
Captain: , St Albans Bay, Vt. (10)

Stopped here on 6.20.14 Had an exceedingly deceiving welcome from owner, Joe when we called to check availability. What a personality shift from him and other hostile staff after we tied up and simply asked for a shore power connection that wasn't almost completely burnt up looking at receptacle. Very industrial setting and unfriendly regulars there. I wish I would've read the prior review prior to arriving. My wife was met with numerous dirty looks from the workers there. Found out too late that they are known for their parts store, albeit very pricey. Not a place to stay overnight or esp not a place to leave your boat unattended for any length of time, unless you're looking for some unwelcome surprises.

Wouldn't recommend to other boaters, 2012-06-15
Captain: , Palm Harbor Marina, FL (32)

Westerly is a working boatyard located in a very industrial , low-income setting. No frills whatsoever, and docks are very worn out and in need of repair. Pumpout wasn't working, nor was there water on our docks. On the positive side, some of their staff are very nice, and there seemed to be deep enough water for boats under 35 feet, but it is very rocky during the day since many boats zoom right by their seawall and it rocks the entire marina. Can't walk anywhere from marina, as there is nothing in Ossining to walk to with the exception of the train station. We learned afterwards that there are train stations at 2 other close-by marinas, one north and one south of this place. Wouldn't repeat.

Uses for Westerly, 2012-05-30
Captain: , Ossining, NY-Hudson River (31)

Highly protected, strong bulkheads, expect N-S current due to bulkheads. They can do ANYTHING a boat needs. "Artie" is an old-time licensed wooden boat builder. Someone will give you a ride to groceries, good restrooms, complete ships store, diesel, gas, can walk to restaurants. A good one 100 yds away named "The Boathouse"

Very well equipped marina, 2012-05-19
Captain: , Croton On Hudson (30)

Wintering and servicing my Formula cruiser here, the service is outstanding, staff very experienced and friendly, lots of heavy equipment all around this sprawling marina-boatyard, AND a sparkling brand new bathroom....! Well equipped store with hard to find parts (Joe will find practically anything you need...), fuel dock, and minutes from train station, Canvas and upholstery shop next door,
a nice waterfront restaurant on the north side, this marina is family owned, and I think there are at least three generations milling about...
This is not a luxury resort type marina, but it has everything you need, friendly and very good service.

Good alternative for Wintering for LI Sound Sailors, 2012-04-11
Captain: , Milford (190)

Our mission this Winter was to find a yard that could accomodate our Pearson 31 and was close to the city so that we could work on the boat during the Winter months without having to drive a few hours back and forth to our normal Summer mooring spot of Milford. We came across the very friendly folks at Westerly and their prices were outstanding as well as their service. They are a full service marina and have a well stocked marine store. If you live in Manahattan and need a spot not to far away, this is it-only 45 minutes by car and an hour on Metro North where you can walk from the train to the yard in 5 minutes.

Tight and shallow marina, 2011-11-12
Captain: , Rouses Point, NY (20)

Great people and very helpful, but our 34 ft long, 4.5 ft draft sailboat, in a strong wind gave us a lot of gelcoat stress even though we had help. Could not turn around and had to back up; 30 ft or less and under 4 ft should not be a problem.

OK Marina, 2008-07-06
Captain: , Newport, RI (10275)

Floating docks in OK shape. Very basic facility. Primarily boatyard with marina attached. Bathrooms meet basic requirements and they definately didn't waste any $ or space on them.
