Reviews for Weech's Bimini Dock
Affordable, Safe, Good Bathrooms but docks in rough shape, 2017-04-19
Captain: , Pompano Beach, FL (190)

The marina is in pretty rough shape. It was recently hit by a large supply freighter that damaged what were already pretty rough docks. It is reportedly going to be undergoing repairs, but that is likely to be on Island Time - so it could be quite a while.

Upside is that the people that run it are great (Kiminey is dock master) and it is well located and quite affordable. The bathrooms are generally clean and often you will have them to yourself because only a few boats usually stay here at any particular time (holidays are exceptions).

They have a few rooms which are also quite affordable, again a bit rough, but for $100 or less. I would avoid the room near Big Johns because when they are blasting music you will hear it in the room until late in the evening. The one suite at the other end is quite nice and has a nice upstairs patio outdoors.

Same comment as other poster as to pile guards, but they will help you spider web your boat in with good spring lines and you will be fine.

Big Johns resteraunt and bar next door is good, but a bit pricy for the drinks. On the weekends they do tend to party pretty loud untiil late and you will hear it on the docks

It's the cheapest marina in Bimini - And why's that? The place has a run down neglected feel. Probably the worst thing is that the fendering on the piles ony consists of verticle strips of wood. Nothing specifically wrong with that, it was the way it was done before the nice hull kindly rubber fendering was invented. (Rubber is incidentally what the matinas either side have.) But in this case the wooden fendering is so worn away that the fixing bolts are now proud of the wood. When your own fenders slide off the piles (a virtuall certainty) or burst (as one of ours did) you'll have a very good chance of losing some paint/gell coat.

If you can live with the above, then on the plus side the marina is only half a mile from immigration and next door to a reasonable restaurant.

Rustic marina run by a local, 2014-03-08

You will definately learn Bimini's culture if you stay here and talk to the owner.

Weech's Dock is the second dock you come across when heading into North Bimini.

We were tied to the t-end for 4-5 nights in Dec 2012. With 20+ knot winds for several nights, the dock took a toll on our fenders. One was ripped in half. There is a significant current running through the docks also and there is no protection from that at most of the N. Bimini docks.

The best parts of Weech's are the central location, the clean showers and the price.

The worst part of this location is the working government dock just to the north. It ensures constant high-speed traffic and wake.

The place to clear customs right now, 2012-05-12

Easy to clear customs. We spent the night on the T-dock. The No Wake is non-exsistant....everyone moves by on plane. Not much open in the off-season. Long walk to laundry, shorter to cell phone store to get sim card. Owner is very nice and freindly...end of the world bar several doors south.

The marina is protected from the ocean side. There are shoals on the east side reducing the size of waves in the big blows but there is little protection from southwinds.Constant ferry traffic passing the docks is also an annoyance. There are 'no wake' signs but they are obviously only for the visitors. Also be aware that they do not take credit cards for payment and by the time you add the extra $5 (for showers, garbage & washdown)to your daily fee the $.85/ft is now $1.00/ft
Also they do not answer VHF calls.
