Reviews for Waterman's Crab House
Not the Crab Claw, 2017-07-09
Captain: , Cherry Hill (378)

Crab here (both snow and blue claw) is not consistently perfectly cooked like I've experienced at the Crab Claw in St. Michaels. Coming from NJ for 6 consecutive years by boat, we make multiple trips to each every year. Waterman's is still a "must stop" for me and my family but mostly for the memories and the view. My constructive criticism here is that they need to step it up on the crab. My snows last night were tiny and overcooked. Crab Claws are large and wonderfully juicy, slip from the shell EVERY TIME. I very much want Waterman's to up their game to get there!

Great restaurant & dock, 2016-11-03
Captain: , Massapequa,NY (1176)

Food is always great at this restaurant. Owner & staff are very friendly. $1.00/ft. for dockage plus $20.00 for 50amp electric. Cute little town. Well stocked small grocery store a few blocks away.

Fun Place & Good Crabs!, 2015-10-12
Captain: , Berwyn (250)

Been here many times. Food is great and fun on weekends when they have the bands. Also dog freindly and take the pooch along with us when we eat here.

Used to be better, 2015-04-01
Captain: , Chester (160)

This was a better place to go in the past. Yhey have not kept up the standards. Food is just okay and is rather pricey for what you get. the view is good. Docking is very hard due to the currents running here.

MD crab house, 2014-07-29
Captain: , Bear Cr,MD (145)

This the place to take your non-boater friends. I'm sure this is what they expect a crab house on the water to look and feel like. Food is good, although the portions small. Crabs good too, but again, pricey. Sunsets are outstanding when your are enjoying crabs n beer, hon.

Where everyone goes, 2014-01-09
Captain: , Chester, MD (225)

This is the spot almost everyone goes to in Rock Hall. I do not know why. Food is OK. Portions on the small side; prices are high. Given all the wonderful places to stop in this section of the Chesapeake there is not a lot of reason to eat here.

Captain: , East Falmouth, MA (1643)

We spent 1 overnight here on the way to Balitmore. This is not a marina, it is a restaurant which allows a FREE overnight with dinner. There are a few slips but only one with power (50A). The water was turned off. The rest rooms were clean and there were no showers. With that in mind it more than met our expectations. The food was excellent as was the service. There was very little to do or see in town as it was after Labor Day.

No longer Free dock with dinner, 2013-09-19
Captain: , Mullica Hill, NJ (688)

The hardshell crabs were wonderful. There is a dock master now, but still no electricity
Some floating dock not in great shape. Heads only when the restaurant is open.
We will return for a crab dinner again.

Crabs for dinner, 2013-05-27
Captain: , Middle River, MD (50)

We ate here during our overnight stay at Rock Hall Landing marina. It was a short walk away. Great crabs. Nice view at sunset.

Captain: , Worton Creek, MD (290)

I have enjoyed every meal here. Crab cakes are excellent. Parking can sometimes be an issue.

Rock Hall hotspot, 2012-10-17
Captain: , Pasadena,Maryland (510)

Good food, a bit noisy on weekends in summer. Free dockage for dinner on site. Most popular resturant in Rock Hall.

Captain: , Annapolis, MD (343)

We try to get here at least once a season for crabs. If you call ahead, you can reserve one of the slips for an overnight stay (arrive in mid to late afternnon). Slip and electrical power are free if you dine in the resturant. Walking distance onto the small town of Rock Hall. They had excellent live entertainment the Sat night we were here. Crabs were excellent. Definitely a place to visit onhte Chesapeake.

Surf and Turf, 2012-08-12
Captain: , Glenwood, MD (385)

Food was good but a little pricey for what it was. I would definitely go there again. Good selection of beers on tap.

Good views, Good food, 2012-08-10
Captain: , Gull Bay, Lake George, NY (274)

Had dinner here on Aug 5th. Busy place, OK service, good food. We both had the crab cakes, lots of crab, well prepared. Not expensive. Also had dinner here back in spring of 2010, was good also. I would go back.

Great atmosphere, Good food., 2012-07-25

The service and views are great. The food is good, but nothing to rave about. It's worth a stop if you're overnighting in Rock Hall.

Hit or Miss, 2012-05-31
Captain: , Punta Gorda, Florida (500)

Great view, nice docks. Food is mediocre unless you get crabs which are great but expensive.

Great Evening over, 2011-09-10
Captain: , Crab Alley, Chester, MD (161)

Stayed the night, everything is really convenient and one would like to stay for several days indeed, if I just didn't have to work! Be sure to follow the markers and be patient when coming into Rock Hall, just stay single file.

Good food, good price, 2011-08-09
Captain: , Oakton, VA (349)

Our family of four ate here twice in one week. The first time, our bill was about $60, including my all-you-can-eat blue crab special! Just about everthing we had was good, including the children's menu items.

Great Hospitality, 2011-07-08
Captain: , Annapolis (95)

The Dockmaster (Dean) goes out of his way to take care of you and your boat. He does a great job and Waterman's food is outstanding to boot.

A tad pricey, 2011-05-18
Captain: , Block Island (1679)

I didn't stay at their docks, but I did have dinner here. The food was fine; not over the top fabulous, but good. It was middle of May, and the place was practically empty. Good service and a very extensive menu. It all seemed a bit overpriced to me, but I wouldn't discourage anyone from giving it a try.

Great cruising destignation, dinner and tie-up, 2011-04-26
Captain: , Chesapeake (261)

For cruisers going to the south in the Fall and returniing in the spring, Rock Hall and Waterman's Crab House is a great spot. Bill the owner has floating docks, and for the price of a meal in this really great crab house, you can stay the night. I'm talking spring and fall, because the summer the place is crawling with boats and people. Great stopping spot!

Good food, priced right., 2011-04-04
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Eat in the bar and get to know Carol....the one in gold bangles. Oysters are perfect... try the crab dip, very different and you'll scrape the bowl. Off season had lots of locals so must be good.

3 times... 2 out of 3 ain't bad., 2011-03-07
Captain: , baltimore (168)

I dined here 3 times (2009-2010). I had the pleasure of spending a night in Rock Hall onboard my boat two Summers in a row. Both times, I stayed at Rock Hall Landing Marina, and I loved it. On each trip I visited Waterman's for steamed crabs. One separate third time, I visited Waterman's on a non-overnight trip to Rock Hall. We came across the Bay from Middle River just for the sole purpose of dining at Waterman's that day. The two "steamed crab overnight" trips were excellent. The "one day dinner" trip wasn't. On the overnight trips, the crabs were great, and they were well worth their high purchase price (believe me, it wasn't cheap, but I expect that, and if I'm looking for large crabs, i don't mind paying for large crabs). On that third day-trip for dinner, the report wasn't too good. Again, we had come over specifically to have dinner at Waterman's with friends, and we were not happy at all. The food was "OK," (didn't have crabs, ate inside) but the real problem was with the service. I just don't think the kids working there understand that people come from ALL OVER just to visit the place, and they want something special. The kid waiting on our table seemed to be more interested in her cellphone and texting her friends, than actually waiting on us!! I'm just saying... one would think that the wait staff would be trained on how to handle a full table of tourists, and then act accordinginly -- Like, "Hi, welcome to Rock Hall." "Where are you from?" "We are SO glad that you decided to stop in here for dinner." "Did you come by boat?" "...Let me tell you a little about the history of this place, etc..."
Anyway, we arrived, we ate, we left, and we were not impressed.
If you are looking for outside seating and good crabs IN SEASON, make this place a MUST SEE dining destination. It's hit or miss later in the Summer/Fall.

Nice place to stop in., 2009-10-19
Captain: , Nabbs Creek (188)

They must have done a bunch of work on their docks as they were all in good shape. Do stay between the markers as it sholes quickly.
The food is good, best softcrab sandwich in a long time.

Good Food, 2008-03-22
Captain: , baltimore, md (106)

The food is good and cheap. Docks are not in the best shape and limited in number for vessels over 30 ft
