close or taxi close to everything, really nice marina owner and security is great, no strangeones running the docks. Good bang for the buck

Local Marina with nice poeple, 2014-01-23
Captain: , Lewis Creek, Md (1214)

We arrived late in the afternoon and stayed two days. The docks at least where we were, need repair, the electric antiquated, and the internet worked best at 3 am, but I still liked the marina

Good stop for longer stays, 2013-10-29
Captain: , Melbourne, FL (124)

Nice marina in a very well protected harbor. Very good access to shopping, West Marine and Boathouse Discount Marine in walking distance, Hardware, drugstore, restaurants as well. Short bus or cab ride to Walmart and supermarkets. Check with Steve for weekly rate (very affordable). Haul out and repair servive at Eau Gallie Yacht Works about three hundred yards away. Call first before coming into harbor as there is often a full house.

As for channel and approach complaints in one other review, I have used this channel for years and never seen less than 6.5 feet. Transient slips have 6 to 8 feet, ask for A dock if draw more than 7. Tide is a non-factor here, maybe 1 foot.

Nice little marina, 2013-01-16
Captain: , Wiscasset ME (1435)

This is a very nice marina and we recommend staying here, but if you are looking for five star luxury you will not find it here.

As for the one star review below I would just say take all reviews with a grain of salt. I actually heard "someone" on the dock complaining like a little child, I was embarrassed for him. The complaints were almost verbatim as in the review.

As for our review, we thought it was a decent marina and have no complaints. We are on a 42 foot boat with 5 1/2 foot draft and although the approach is shallow we never hit bottom. And the channel is VERY WELL MARKED with either red day marks on one side - green on the other, all the way up into the marina. Once you get up to the marina stay close to the docks. The marina is the last set of docks all the way in on your starboard side. If you draw much more than 6 feet you will touch bottom as you get close to the marina but it is a very soft silt and there is no tide here so that is not a factor. The docks are fixed wood with finger piers and they are in good repair. There are pilings you tie to so you will need spring lines and if you are talented you can back into the slip. We went bow in and had no problem getting on or off the boat. The bathrooms and showers are cleaned daily and in good repair. There are washers and dryers, I didn't count but at least one of each. There is a dumpster for trash. The property is fenced and well kept. There are several liveaboards and the community is very friendly. There is West Marine and Boathouse (marine supply) both in walking distance. Boathouse is awesome and hands down better than West Marine. If you need anything common or off the wall, Boathouse will have it or get it quick and you will pay less than WM. Steve the dockmaster is very nice and very helpful but he is the only staff there so he is out on the grounds quite a bit. Call on the phone and leave a message, he will call you back. I wouldn't bother with VHF.
We spent five weeks here and have no complaints at all. We gave it three stars because it is a three star marina, three shiny stars. It has everything we needed, dock, power, water, showers, laundry and boat parts nearby. There is public transportation to Wal-Mart and other stores. West Marine, Walgreens and Starbucks are walking distance to the north.
The marina is in a lagoon so it is very protected and again, no tide or current. Very quiet at night. Manatees and dolphins almost every day.

If you are high maintenance, picky, lack basic boating skills or need bar/restaraunt on site than you should look elsewhere.

Very strong three stars! We enjoyed this marina very much and recommend it.

Nice marina but not the greatest, 2013-01-09
Captain: , Green Cove springs, Florida (321)

We are 6 ft draft and it was hard to get in. We were told to keep to the red day markers and we would be ok. We saw 5 ft but the boat kept moving, it was silt under us. We got half way into the slip when we went aground but very soft and were able to motor all the way in. Steve is a very nice harbormaster but is not real up to date on the channel coming in. He takes in a lot of boats for the SSCA GAM at the Civic Center that is very easy to walk to. Also, near there is a ACE Hardware. To the south of the marina about a quarter mile is The Boathouse (good marine store) with a wonderful outboard motor repair place. Bus services are good to take all over town including one that goes straight to Walmart and a movie theater. Also, very close to the Melbourne airport. you can go by bus or taxi is $10. 1 washer and dryer available and 2 nice remodeled bathrooms.

Worst Marina yet, 2013-01-08
Captain: , Roseville MN (398)

We've been cruising for 6 months, from Duluth MN to here in East Florida. This is the hardest marina we have tried to get into. by far, and my first 1-star Active Captain review. The not-well-marked entrance "channel" is less than 5 feet in many places. I ran aground right in the middle of the channel near daymark "5" (we draw less than 5 feet), backed off, then hit (mud) a couple of more times on the way in. The dockmaster wasn't very helpful when we called him for local knowledge - "stay to the right" "a 6' draft boat just came in with no problem" "nobody else has problems here" and, of course "you just had bad luck". That is, when he actually answered the phone or VHF. Then, to top it off, the pelican poles are so far off the (barelyl) finger piers that we had trouble getting our 30' boat into a slip. No tide, no current, no wind - the plus side. Will never come here again.

Alternative to Melbourne, 2011-11-09
Captain: , Buffalo (1144)

Harbour entrance has been dredged and is now over 8 feet deep, and is well marked. This marina is mostly permanent, but there are a couple of slips for transients. The docks are short finger piers. There is no tide here, and no current, so it is easy to back into a slip. The place could use a little more maintenance. The Dock master is friendly and helpful. There are a couple of restaurants and a Walgreens within walking distance. While it is not the best marina on the ICW, it is certainly a good stop. We will be back
