Reviews for Wacca Wache Marina
Great Stop, 2016-08-10
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (618)

6 boats made the stop this trip. We were greeted by a very professional staff. One of the best reasonably priced diesel. Great restaurant and bar just feet away from transient slips. You won't be disappointed with a stop at Wacca Wache

One of my favorites, 2016-06-26
Captain: , Atlantic Beach, Fl (43)

Made a hasty stop here due to a major storm. Got ahold of the marina and they had cones set up on the fuel dock where I was to lay up (I didnt request help). Tied up and headed in for cokctails and one of the best club sandwiches on the coast. Great little stop and very friendly staff. I look forward to stopping again.

Busy Marina, 2016-06-07
Captain: , Savannah, GA (320)

Came in with generator problem on a Friday. Corrected this problem and when we wanted to get underway the starboard engine would not turn over. Costner, tryed to help in between helping customers at their dry stack facility. They were very busy. Folks on the ditch fail to observe the no wake zone. This was a Saturday and boat traffic was substantial. Thankfully West Marine is within a six mile distance of the marina. We purchased two batteries and a battery selector switch. The switch was the problem. The marina personnel were very helpful. Dockage is reasonable at $1.50 per foot. 10 cents per foot for a 50 amp cord. That came to $4.60 for our boat. Very nice not ot have to pay $10.00 a night for shore power. We will return.

Management response:
Capt. Mark,

Thank you for the great review on our marina. :) It was our pleasure to be able to assist you as much as we could and are glad the problem was not too major. As for the no wake zone, we are in the process of working with SCDNR to have a, "SCDNR established NO Wake Zone" in place here. We look forward to having you stay with us again.

Safe travels and happy boating.

Great Stop, 2016-02-08
Captain: , Westport CT (170)

Pulled in after dark on 12/27/15...marina staff was gone but the rest. folks had us tie up and kept the place open so we could eat. very welcoming and a perfect stop after a long day in the ditch. Up and gone before anyone was in and had no problem 'settling" up via phone. Would have given 5 stars but the heads could use a little updating...would stop again in a minute.

Management response:
Thank you Captain J105 for your great review. :) We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and would love for you to visit us again in your future travels. The bathrooms are on our list for up coming renovations. Safe travels and happy boating!

Good Marina, 2015-11-16
Captain: , Middle River, MD (40)

Stoppede her on our way south because of relatives living in the area. Needed a mechanic and they recomended a fabulous guy. George fixed our generator fast and very resonable. I hasve called him since for advice And he has helped me for free. Cannot say enough about George. If you are in this area and need a quality resonable mechanic give him a call 843-461-0385. He gets 5 stars! Marina was clean, floating docks out front and very easy on/off the ICW

Management response:
Thank you, Captain Mike for your gracious review about the marina and George. We hope you have safe travels. Keep us in mind when you are traveling the ICW. Happy boating!! :)

Great Staff and Great Service, 2015-10-26
Captain: , Charleston SC (10)

Staff here is great, they gave me the 5 Star treatment. Broke down on the ICW, and they went all out to get my boat up and running in the shortest time possible.
Restaurant staff nice and friendly.
There is not enough I can say about this marina.
If you are going down the ICW please stop in Dave and his staff are the best.

Management response:
Thank you Chris for your great review. :) We hope to see you again when you are in the area. Safe travels.

Great Service/Facilities Could be Improved, 2015-06-03
Captain: , Louisville (291)

Stopped here on a northbound AICW yacht delivery today. Staff stayed after regular hours to assist with lines, and even provided a free bag of ice!
But...wifi did not work at all, and we attempted to log in from 3 different devices. The showers were also hot and not very clean. Sorry I can't go more than three stars here, because we loved the service!

May 5 2015

This was our second stop at this facility. Very nice. Solid docks - easy in and out of the slip. Goodrestaurant. Very quiet spot on the ICW. Will stop again if we have to be on the ICW.

Very nice marina - very good floating docks. Easy in and out - beware of river current and work with it. Very good restaurant on site. We arrived after closing hours and the staff waited for us, fueled and pumped us out. Very friendly people both at the marina and the restaurant.

Nice Facility, 2015-02-20
Captain: , Williamsburg, VA (745)

Easy to get in off the river. A bit pricey. However, it was cold and a good place to get out of the weather. We needed to fill our water tanks and the staff turned on their water for us. It had been below freezing for a few days and they had turned it off.

Overnight, 2014-12-02
Captain: , Guntersville (100)

We stayed here overnight. Very professional staff. Excellent restaurant on site. Not much near, but nice place to stay on the trip South.

Captain: , YORKTOWN, VA (293)

This attractive Marina has a fine little restauirant and bar popular with local residents from an upscale heighborhood. Howver the transient docks are n ot well managed. TRhe people are hard working and dedicated but they don't know what they are doing or have no management support. First they wanted me to go into one of there fine slips wia 1.6kt tide behind me. I had to conince them that it was desirable enter the slip against the tide. Then when we got into one of their fine floating slips, we found that the 50amp power was dangerously screwed and that the 30amp service was totally out. The people there worked very hard to resolve the issue. But they really did not know what they were doing. Good people. Bad management.

K-Rayes Grill, 2014-10-09
Captain: , Clubfoot Creek, NC (51)

We had the pleasure of eating at the grill at the marina yesterday and the food was awesome as indicated by just about all the tables being full. We were anchored up in Prince Creek and took the dink down there for lunch. We will definitedly stop on the way back next May.

Not like the previous rating, 2014-06-19
Captain: , Cuba Landing Marina, Waverly, TN, Nashville, TN (184)

Called ahead 3 hours for dockage reservation, gas fill up, a pump out, ice and soft drinks. Where instructed to hail on radio when arrived. Here is what happened:

Called on the radio and phone for 15 minutes with no answer.
Honked horn at 2 guys 150 feet away with "CREW" on their shirts, they looked at us an turned away.
Docked ourselves with a bump due to current. Then one of the guys walked down to us, ask what we needed. I gave him a piece of my mind.
He tried to open our fuel cap with a screw driver before I stopped him with the key. Left the cap off after fueling (I was busy watching the pump).
Pump out didn't pump (which dock guy admitted after he watched us try for almost 15 minutes). Then he left the cap off the dock pump station when he took the hose off. I "found" that little omission with my nose while hooking up our water hose.

When I went to check in the girl got an attitude with me when I complained about all the foul up with letting me know she was the only one there and she couldn't do everything.

According to my crew the men's shower was very small and the electric outlet did not work.

Pretty setting, nice patio for dinning, bar staff was helpful so if you don't mind the marina staff it's a good stay.

will be back!, 2014-06-08
Captain: , CHARLESTON (330)

loved this marina - lovely setting, helpful dock hands, good casual restaurant with live music, convenient docking with minimal current.

Dont let the name fool you, 2013-10-30
Captain: , essex (101)

Great little marina, plenty of water, right on the ICW. The restaurant has changed hands, but it is great spot with an old cyress tree with deck built around it. Very cool, friendly place to stop, have a cocktail or two and dinner.

Pleasant Place, 2013-06-30
Captain: , Beaufort, S.C. (570)

Dockmaster was knowledgeable and helped us dock successfully in spite of heavy winds. There isn%u2019t much within walking distance, but the marina is on a quiet road so walking the dog was pleasant. The restaurant has both inside and outside seating with a huge tree providing shade on the patio. We enjoyed our 1 night stay at Wacca Wache.

Gotta go to Russells, 2012-12-30
Captain: , Pocasset,MA (30)

Nice convenient marina with helpful staff. We took their recommendation and went to Russell's Seafood restaraunt in Murrells Inlet. Russell, himself picked us up at the marina and after a very interesting tour and history lesson of the area, brought us back. The experience of riding with Russell would have made the trip worthwhile by itself, however the food at his restaraunt was marvelous. I had the "hog snapper" which was the best tasting fish I have ever eaten, bar none! The atmosphere was delightful and very local and also worth the trip by itself. I would call this a destination stop. Marina is 3 stars and Russell's is 5 stars.

Wacca Wache Marina review, 2012-09-28

Great service, friendly responsive staff. Pricey restaurant for average food, but very friendly and convenient.

home base for the next few months, 2012-07-26
Captain: , Murrells Inlet, SC (61)

Assigned a nice slip against the back wall which is easy to access from the parking lot. Staff is easy to deal with. Haven't used their facilities since I live 15 minutes away.

Too much money for service., 2012-04-25
Captain: , Stuart Fl (140)

Arrived late afetr making reservation, was told to tie up,along gas dock,no assistence from Marina Staff, very pricey, had to wait till 8:30 am the next morning for fuel.If not for the Resturant and setting I,doubt they would be there as I,was told by the Resturant staff they had nothing to do with the Marina.5 Stars for nthe Resturant 2 stars for the Marina

Impressive stop, 2012-04-03
Captain: , Southport, NC (916)

Possibly the prettiest setting on this stretch of the intracoastal, especially if you are heading south and just passed through the ditch. Azalias were in full bloom, adjacent golf course, and restaurant facilities avaialble.

Kinda shody, but great restaurant., 2012-03-12
Captain: , redondo Beach, CA (252)

Ok, I have to prefice that the dock staff are really nice and helpful, but... possibly the nastiest showers EVER. However... Hanna Banana's Sunshine Cabana has a wonderful menu, lively local crowd, wonderful events (live music!) and you HAVE to hit the funniest Trivia night I've ever experienced. The restaurant is worth the stop, even if its just to grab a bite.

Great Sunsets!, 2011-12-15
Captain: , Murrells Inlet, SC (66)

This has been our homeport for over ten years. Restaurant on site has entertainment 7 nights in season and weekends during the winter months and good food. Dock crew is friendly and efficient. You won't be disappointed if you stop here.

You don't have to stay for ten years, but you might........

Five stars to pull up the deserves better, 2011-11-20
Captain: , Key West, FL (748)

This is a nice place to stop. Under new, enthusiastic management for about two years. Music most every night in the warm months, and about four times a week in the fall and spring. Very nice people running it. And a fantastic restaurant (fried oysters, among other things, are very good). From the water access, you'd guess you were in the middle of nowhere, but the truth is that Myrtle Beach golf and other attractions are remarkably nearby.

This is the BIG BOAT STOP!, 2011-11-14
Captain: , Denver NC (329)

If you have a large...Yacht! This is your stop. The facilities are clean and the restruant has good food. This is fresh water too!

Nice Stopover, 2011-04-01
Captain: , Sarasota Fl (96)

Spent the night heading north. Face dock easily handled a full size boat. We were a 58' Hatteras LRC and found other docks that were a bit short. Nice staff, decent restraunt and cab to the grocery store was reasonable. I doubt I would spend a week but will definitely try to stop again for the night.

over priced, 2011-02-08
Captain: , millsboro DE (300)

this marina is out in the middle of nowhere. It is a nice facility but way overpriced a restruant/bar is on site but that is it

Very nice marina, 2010-12-19
Captain: , Detroit, MI (160)

From our first contact via vhf, the experience was great. The dock hand was there to make sure that everything was in order, the office staff was helpful and the entire marina was spotless.

Nice on a cold day., 2010-12-05
Captain: , Albemarle Sound (41)

When I pulled in the dockhand was there and very helpful. He ran to the office to get the pigtail for shore power and even flemish coiled my dock lines. He did not leave the slip until he was sure that my shore power worked. Docks are in great shape and everything is clean. I'll stop here on the way back north.

Getting better every time we go by...., 2010-05-19
Captain: , Melbourne Florida (4616)

We came in for drinks and loved the happy hour and live music. Next time we will try dinner...

Tie up for lunch, 2010-04-22
Captain: , Chesapeake Bay (592)

No charge for tying up for lunch. Fried oysters were excellent. Sit outside on their spacious deck and watch the boats. Or sit at the bar and watch Fox News. Whatever your pleasure.

Still pricey, 2009-05-08
Captain: , Chocowinity NC (40)

At $2.00/foot, the costliest spot we stopped between Oriental and Georgetown. Dock crew was very helpful and friendly, showers are pretty small and dated, given the price. As of May 1, the new restaurent was not open, but in the works.

Brookgreen Gardens, 2008-11-20
Captain: , Old Saybrook, CT (1021)

If you haven't seen Brookgreen Gardens, stay here for a night and rent a car or take a cab there for a full day. It is not to be missed! Unfortunately, this is the only way you can really get there from thje ICW because this marina is overpriced and mediocre.

Wacca Wache, 2008-10-16
Captain: , Charleston (105)

Agree with other comments. Pricey - charged us $10 for one day's electricity. Showers are dingy. In spite of calling well in advance, dock hands were slow to show up - apparently had to come from the dry stack facility in the back of the marina. We took a taxi to Brookgreen Gardens which has a spectacular sculpture exhibit. Not superb marina but good stop because of the natural beauty of the area and Brookgreen.
