Reviews for Vieux Port de Quebec
Very nice place to stay, 2017-08-05
Captain: , Catawba Island, Ohio (411)

Marina workers are very helpful. As a foreigner, I appreciated that they pretty much all spoke reasonale English. Very nice facilities, clean and well managed. Dockes are in very good shape and the best part is you are in the center of old town, so everything is a short walk.

Great central location for the city, 2017-07-11
Captain: , New Buffalo, Michigan (780)

Marina was friendly, dock hands were wonderful and helpful in docking. Although the lock is a pain, it is well whole being there. Moored on outside dock for early departure at 5am. City is alive and vibrant, close as you can get without going across ocean

Big and noisy, 2016-10-05
Captain: , Chaumont, NY (257)

August. Locking in to enter is a pain; once you are in there is a big industrial plant on one side and when we were there there was a beer festval on the other. There is also a farmer's market nearby and a few good eateries and a coffee shop. The faclilities are very nice and clean.

Port of Quebec Marina, 2016-06-21
Captain: , Wickford, RI (1637)

Very nice Marina.
Call Basin Louise lock on VHF 71 to arrange the locking into the marina. Lock has floating docks on both sides.
When in lock, call Marina on VHF 71 to get assigned a place. There are charts on the floating docks to show you your place. Note that some docks use an East or West to tell whether the space is close to the lock end (east) or away from lock end (west). We were in D9E. There are two spaces D9 across the dock from each other. Slips are very wide and fairways quite wide so we (37 long x 14 wide) had no problems with space.
Marina help all spoke great English and were super pleasant and helpful.
Views from the slip are very nice of the city to the south and west, to the north are grain elevators.

Location, location, location!, 2015-07-19
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (1541)

Can't beat the location: right in town, walking distance to the old city, Chateau Frontenac, the Citadelle. Good fast wifi, pleasant staff that spoke English for us non-French speakers. Marina through a lock which keeps the marina's floating docks at a constant level despite the 15 foot tides. Lock operates 7 am to 12:30 am. To catch the ebbing tide, we needed to depart at 4:30 - before the lock was operating - and learned that the Marina does own some of the docks in the exterior basin next to the lock, and there's even a 30 amp power outlet. We locked through at 9 pm at night, spend the night on the outer docks and departed in the wee hours. Worked out just fine, though the boat did rock the few time the lock was dumping it's water on a down cycle.

local mechanical services, 2015-07-07
Captain: , Panama City, FL (645)

We received excellent assistance from lift manager Donny and mechanic Denny. Marina is super and location can not be bested. We had no problem hooking up boat router to wifi system. Very friendly dock mates with local info and tips. Staff eager to be helpful in English. Don't miss market or Legende restaurant

Must visit place, 2015-06-20
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (552)

Excellent facilities, close to bike trails and all the action. Just wish their WiFi policies and signal strength were more friendly. Nevertheless, a great visit.

Lovely place to stay to see QC, 2014-08-17
Captain: , Beach Haven NJ (150)

Fine facility. Fuel men were helpful, though the pump was slow, and the pump out easy. Good docks. Very large marina, a good walk to the City. Fabulous market on the west side of the marina, not too long a walk, and filled with fine, frest delights. Don't miss it. Fun, interesting City, too. Don't miss QC if you are on the St Lawrence.

Secure Stop, 2014-07-26
Captain: , Corpus Christi, TX (732)

Great, secure marina with helpful staff. However, they do not understand their wi-fi issue...strong RF signal but no IP address to be had for a couple of days, then worked beautifully a couple of days, then back to non-functional, all from the same location/equipment. They don't seem to embrace making it stable. Otherwise a great stop.

Good Marina Good Location, 2014-07-15
Captain: , Marthas Vineyard (506)

Easy to get to the old town of Quebec, marina has good docks, good ships store nearby, good bathrooms and laundry. Has locked gates. We were quite happy here except for the loud music the first 2 nights, which turned out to be a summer festival for the city. You lock in and out to an enclosed basin just off the river

Great marina in a great city, 2013-07-29
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (7375)

Lockmaster responded right away, as did marina office. We had a slip assignment before we left the marina lock. Docks well marked, easy to find your slip. Dock hands ready to take our lines. Most docks almost new, solid with strong cleats, good power & water, wi-fi was intermittent. Large clean restrooms/showers. Marina is convenient to old-town Quebec, bike routes, market, grocery store. New marina building coming 2013-2014.

Excellent spot right down town, 2013-01-31
Captain: , Gloucester, MA (807)

This is an excellent spot with excellent access to Quebec including the old fortified city. Lots to see and do, and from the marina you have ring-side seats for the nightly history of Quebec projected across the line of grain silos. Good marine store right on the pier, and a fantastic market on the other side of the basin. We stayed for a full week waiting for the tides to allow a day run down river to our next stop.

One note. The lock that controls access to the basin helps isolate the basin from the large swing in the river. But every tiem it operates, the basin level drops a bit. On busy weekends the basin level can get low enough that they shut down lock operations until the tide comes around again. It can throw a real wrench in your plans to enter or leave.

Great spot for tourism, 2012-06-12
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1896)

Terrific location right downtown Quebec City. Walking distance to everything. Must take horse carriage ride tour to see town. Terrific stop very scenic & enjoyable. Lock operates 0700-2400 in spring & summer. Great docks, wide & stable. Reasonable price for location about $2.00 ft. Diesel by truck, $1.04 per liter.

Super place to stay for visiting Quebec City, 2011-10-19
Captain: , Solomons, MD (1915)

Marina is right next to the city. Railroad station is across the street. Grocery store closeby; several blosks from marina. You can't beat the location for access to the upper and lower Quebec. Walking distance to major sights. Wonderful but pricery restaurants everywhere. Take a tour of the Hotel Frontenac and have lunch at Parliament. Don't miss the The Citadelle. Lots to see and do!

Captain: , Oriental, NC (1148)

Vieu Port de Quebec Marina is so well located in the heart of old Quebec that it's hard to imagine staying at any other place. It has most things that a cruiser needs or it is found nearby. The only defect I found is that WiFi is not working well. The signal is so weak in parts of the marina that it isn't worth the trouble to try and connect. The 400 year history projected on the silos of the Bunge Grain Elevators is in 3D but leaves a lot to be desired. Nevertheless, there is so much activity around that it's wonderful to just sit outside in the cockpit and enjoy all the events.

In the hearth of the old Quebec, 2011-07-01
Captain: , CNIB-ST-Laurent I.O. (340)

Very well located marina in the hearth of the old Québec City. Just have a walk around and choose a restaurant or visit the city. Starting in June the show from Robert Lepage, Image Mill is starting around 22h00 every night (free). The city%u2019s entire 400-year historical narrative will be projected on the sides of the Bunge silos in the Port of Quebec.

The Place to Stay, 2010-10-16
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

Even though it is very expensive, this is the place to stay and see Quebec. Outstanding facilities. Going thu the lock is quite an experiece as it is quite orchastrated.

One of the most grand marinas, 2010-03-01
Captain: , Sarasota (1427)

The setting is quite spectacular. There is a 16 ft tidal range here, but don't worry, you lock into the marina and there is a floating dock inside the lock. You can do your daily walk around the basin - a little over a mile. Very professional staff. You can walk to the old town of Quebec - restaurants, farmers market, the funicular. It is a wonderful place to stop.

More docks, 2009-06-24
Captain: , Quebec (89)

The marina has added more docks reserved for visitors mostly

Nice marina in the heart of Old Quebec, 2008-08-01
Captain: , Newport, RI (10275)

Large marina in the heart of old Quebec. It's a short walk into the city and all of the restaurants. The docks are in good shape and some of the staff speaks English. They have fuel & pumpout and a 40T travel lift. Nice bathrooms. Small clean showers.
