Reviews for Vera's Beach Club Restaurant and Marina
Not what it Used to Be, 2014-09-15

If you want to recall Vera's as it was when the grande dame was alive, don't come back. It's now a sports bar/band venue catering to the younger crowd. It's almost impossible to reach a living person by phone to reserve a slip, and no one answers VHF. Docks are in good shape. The menu favors burgers and pulled pork. Crab cakes are Fair at best; kebobs with rice and veggies were overcooked to death. The setting on St. Leonard's Creek remains among the most beautiful anywhere, but we'll spend our money elsewhere.

Reminds me of LuLu's , only north., 2012-06-28

Got a special rate because of an mtoa rondevous, 1.50 a foot. neat bar, decent prices on drinks. I would come back.

Great! Pool saved our lives on 97 degree day. Excellent food. Put this on your Chesapeake Bay bucket list.....

Worth a visit, 2011-09-25

St Leonard Creek is one the tranquil spots worth a visit. Then around a bend in the creek is a strange vision - white sandy beach with palm trees ! Take a picture and ask your friends where it is - hard to believe its the Chesapeake. Food here is surprisingly good and good value. Preferred to anchor in bight off fuel dock since weekend crowds near dock can be rowdy.

Nice Experience, 2011-07-08

We stayed two nights on the fuel dock as part of a weekend MTOA event. There were only two 240/50amp plugs on the 300+ foot fuel dock, but the other dock appears to have a greater number of 50amp outlets. When a scheduling conflict occured for power, Dave the dockmaster worked hard with the management to devise a solution to meet our needs and he deserved an extra tip. The food was excellent at the restaurant -- you have got to get it a try! The marina's location is very nice and good exploring nearby using the dink or kayak. I would go back.

Nice bar & restaurant, 2011-07-02

Had trouble get a reservation with a group visit. Phone calls not returned. We docked on the fuel dock which was very nice except for inadequate power pedestals. They didn't have enough 50 Amp service to supply guests. Dock hands were helpful in docking procedure. Not offered shower key or WIFI information.

Great bar, but - -, 2011-06-26

This marina is more focused on the bar and restaurant than the marina portion. Reservation requests by phone and email not answered very responsively (1 week later). Dockmaster was trying to manage two dock systems very far apart - you were pretty much on your own if more than one boat was coming in.

The finger piers are very short (15'), so unless you are on a T or the fuel dock, you may have a difficult time getting on and off the boat. Most of the docks are either new or recently refurbished and in good shape.

We never did get the combo to the restrooms and we were on our own for wifi as well - not part of welcome package, nor mentioned during check-in.

Drinks at the bar were great and the prices were very good. Food was very good as well. We were able to do a tour of Vera's home - very impressive!!

Great creek, great Marina/Restaurant, 2011-01-26
Captain: , Frog Mortar Creek, Middle R., Chesapeake (420)

Love this place. We missed Vera by about 6 months. New owner has really gone the mile. Last time there, we had a great time. Good food and a really fun Elvis impersonator. The creek is a good protected anchorage.

Ideal Location, 2010-08-01
Captain: , Green Cove Springs FL (1380)

St Lenards Crrek. Anchored just south of Vera's Beach. Dingied in for dinner. Great Food and a lot of it. The creek is a super location. Anchored in the bight on right side just below the restaruant. Good Holding lots of swing room for a 50 ft Marine Trader. A very pleasant and enjoyable stop. M/Y Allez!

Classic -- like your favoriate great aunt; you must love her. It's required., 2010-01-12

Vera's is a local tradition - quirky, definitely unique. Very pleasant up-creek trip and new facilities make it worth the time. Many anchorages all along the creek. One of the more scenic in Maryland.

New owner = new marina, 2009-06-06
Captain: , Patuxent River, MD (387)

Over the last two years the new owners have put a TON of work into this place, and it shows. New docks, totally remodeled resturant, great food and staff. We love this place. Bands on the weekends.

Improvements under way, 2007-09-20

New docks in place w/elec & water. Food is only "average", but improving.

Nothing but bad! The owner is of extremely bad temper and extremely short fuse. My advice ... anchor in the creek and enjoy ... plenty of good deep anchorages. Avoid this place like the plague.
