Reviews for Venice Marina
Bad communication, 2016-09-21
Captain: , Houston, TX (31)

Approach is very shallow. As another said, stay on the south side of the channel before the entrance and then stay in the middle. I turned around and left for fear of getting stuck. Did not have good comunication with staff. Sent an email two days earlier asking about slips and was assured there would be no problem. When I got withing cell phone range I called and talked to someone in their accounting department 80 miles away. She said she would relay that I was coming. As I got near I radioed the marina and got no answer. Figured calling was out of the question since the number they gave me wasn't even at the marina. Ended up a Cypress Cove, not much better and far more expensive. $2.50/ft, no finger piers, no pump out.

Agree - not for sailors, 2014-10-20

We stopped here on our way to Texas. The marina is very busy, but is not set up for sail boats - no finger piers. We docked across two slips against the dock - and they didn't complain. Very friendly. Limited groceries.

Watch out for the bar just outside the marina on the north side - stay on the south side before entering the marina.

Fishing Boats Rule, 2014-09-17
Captain: , Seabrook, TX (260)

We came in from Mississippi Sound through Baptiste Collette, then down the mighty Mississippi a short bit and across to Venice and this marina. We were only there long enough to pick up another crewmember for our trip from Venice to Clear Lake, TX. We refueled, bought ice and simple provisions in the Ship's Store. The marina is well equipped, and caters to the large sport fishermen, who go offshore after big game fish. Everyone on staff were helpful, if not exactly friendly. There is a good restuarant onsite, and a decent motel too.

Friendly place, 2014-04-28
Captain: , George West (80)

Though this is mostly a fisherman's marina, they welcomed us and our Gemini with no worries. They had enough open slips that we were able to pick what worked for us. It is a pole slip but has a good dock to back up to. Restaurant and small supply store on site. And the restaurant is great for Cajun seafood and they serve breakfst too. Fuel dock is a little tricky but they help with the lines to guide you in. It is a ways to get into but we needed a stopover point before jumping from La. to Fla. so this worked for us. No showers but plenty of water to refill the tanks so no worries there. Fun watching them bring in their catches of Tuna and Snapper while at the restaurant.

A large full service marina, 2013-09-19
Captain: , Columbus,Ohio (256)

This marina serves recreational and commercial boats so there is a mix of everything to the big offshore fishing boats, commercial shrimp boats and crew boats that serve the offshore oil rigs.

Overall, it is a good facility for the recreational boater. There is a good ramp with plenty of dock space. Small shop offers snacks and a limited amout of supplies. There is also a small restaurant and bar.

Venice Marina, Not for sailors, 2011-01-07
Captain: , Portofino Marina, Clear Lake Shores, TX (10)

Friends Troy and Deana Jones spent Christmas, 2010 here to wait out a cold front on their way to Key West. Ther reported that the folks were nice but that it is a fisherman's marina with no finger piers, and little availale shopping. They also reported that it takes a long time to get through the pass and back out again.
