Reviews for Varadero Alicante (Shipyard)
Winter storage and repairs - an excellent choice, 2012-12-29
Captain: , Rock Hall MD (40)

Prices are reasonable compared to other shipyards south of Barcelona. Manuel, Technical Director of the shipyard speaks excellent English and was extremely helpful getting our boat hauled for the winter and secured. Allows owners to do most of their own maintenance work except painting the bottom which is reserved for the yard workers. No problem allowing my wife and me to live on the boat during decommissioning. Yard connected me with a sail loft and arranged for engine repairs. Facilities are sparse, with heads/showers, elec and water. Although there is no ships store, the Yard can get you most anything you might need. Security is excellent with watchmen 24/7, card key gated access. Choice of restaurants outside the gate. Getting to downtown Alicante and the train station is a 15 minute taxi drive. There are busses nearby, but it is tricky walking out of the industrial area where the shipyard is located. This place has the largest travel lift I've ever seen. (I think it was 250 tons!) The staff is eager to please and took personal interest in helping us work off our winter storage checklist.
