Reviews for Urbanna Town Marina at Uptons Point
Great stop!, 2016-10-14
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (10)

Easy entry, very friendly and helpfull staff. Nice bicycles avaiable for a ride into town.

Decent Marina for what it is, 2016-09-01
Captain: , North Charleston, SC (622)

OK, the facility is nice and nearly new. The heads are clean and functional. The docks are a bit difficult and fixed, not floating. The person who helped us dock had probably never tied up a boat before but we were able to fix things after he left.

The town is easily walkable and interesting. It can be covered in a few hours.

The credit card surcharge is insulting. I realize they have to pay a fee, but it's a cost of doing business just like having water available or lights in the restroom. The shops in town don't charge a credit card fee, they just consider accepting credit cards a cost of doing business.

It's seems unreasonable to expect cruisers to pack enough cash to pay for twenty or thirty marinas along the way. I hope they will reconsider this extra charge.

Quiet town within walking distance, 2015-07-11

Nice marina. Agree with the credit card service charge. Most restrants are closed Monday-Tuesday so check the internet to see what's open before you arrive. Nice facilities and the roll up the sidewalks at 9pm.

GREAT MARINA BUT..., 2014-10-27
Captain: , Hampton, VA (291)

The town of Urbanna has a gem in the rough in this marina. Great staff, good docks and really close to town. Unfortunately, at $1.75/ft, this city marina is the most expensive in the harbor and to add insult to injury, recently started charging 2.5% +$1.00 if you use a credit card! It appears the town leadership has gotten greedy but failed to realize that by increasing their rates, they are loosing business. We were literally the only transient boat there during a beautiful fall weather week when you would expect far more visiting boats. I truly love Urbanna and hope the town sees the error in their ways.

Urbanna Town Marina, 2014-09-10
Captain: , Heathsville VA (80)

Kevin at the Urbanna Town Marina is wonderful! We cruised over on Saturday for lunch in Urbanna and had a terrible time getting the boat to the dock: the wind was pushing us offshore. Kevin and another couple of volunteers worked hard to get us safely in and tied up. All was done with enormous good humor. When we got off the boat, Kevin asked that we follow him to the office so that he could give us a town map and explain where the local restaurants were located (just a stroll up the hill from the dock). There was no charge for tying up at the dock for lunch, which was another unexpected plus! A lovely facility (with pump off capacity) in a charming town. Kevin was a jewel, as were the passers-by!

New doks and grocery store in easy walking distance!, 2014-03-28
Captain: , Annapolis (2677)

Good docks including new floating docks and good power. The heads were nicely freshly painted; clean with plenty of hot water. Washers and dryers were great. All in all the facilities were fine. Very convenient to town. Great oyster basket at the Urbanna Oyster House.
There is history , shopping, eating and exploring to do in Urbanna. Your first visit will not be your last. Great place to spend a weekend. This marina has very good facilities, very friendly staff and is a short walk from town. Wendy, the Marina manager is a wonderful host. She cares about her guests.

This one is worth the trip, 2014-01-13
Captain: , Occoquan, VA (352)

Great spot and the staff are some of the best. We will definately be going back. Make sure you briing plenty of fenders however. Fixed docks that can be quite high off the sides. The town is well worth a visit and the back creek is a nice dingy ride.

Another great spot, 2013-10-18
Captain: , Charlestown (946)

We are starting our fall cruise from here to Savannah. We were able to launch our boat from the ramp, a Ranger Tug. Town is within walking distance for shops, restaurants, groceries and just about anything you may need. The dock staff are friendly and helpful and the visitors in the marina are very friendly. The facilities are clean. Showers, laundry and bikes are available. The docks are fixed as are most in this area. The slips along side of the ramp on the south side will offer you the most protection if the wind is blowing.
If you enjoy ribs, smoked meats, homemade ice cream and all homemade cooking then try "Something Different". The Dockside restaurant at Dozier's has excellent food.

Surprising, Great!, 2013-08-28
Captain: , Pennsville, NJ (195)

Perfect marina! Well run and clean. Laundry facilities and library. Town has trolly for $0.25 to tour the town and for transportation. Easy walk to town for groceries and whatnot. Nose in docking due to shallow slips. Great job!!

Just Like the Ragu Commercial: Its in It!, 2013-08-11
Captain: , Urbanna VA (31)

Probably the best deal in the region. $1.75 per foot (including tax), wi-fi, 90 TV channels, bikes, pump-out, laundry & the cleanest bathrooms of anywhere we have been. 5 cool restaurants & a weekend trolly to put-put & tours for 25 cents. The is also a swimming pool & playground up town at the park. Wow.

We stayed at the Urbanna Town Marina July 26-29 2013. The marina is clean and modern with great friendly people. The town of Urbanna has several great places to eat. Or favorite is Something Different with ribs and BBQ to die for. Urbanna creek is a great place for a kayak or dinghy ride. We'll be back!!

Great Spot to Stretch your Legs!, 2013-07-12
Captain: , Rock Hall, MD (112)

The Urbanna Town Marina is very clean and Hospitable, the people who run it are very helpful and good natured!

We loved the chance to walk into town to browse the shops and get some great seafood.... MoJo's cafe!

They have lots of interesting stores and even one that sells marine parts and just call the number on the sign and he comes and opens up for you!

Love the trolleys and small town atmosphere. Defiately worth coming back to!

Good place for a visit!!, 2012-09-25

This is the way marina's are supposed to be. Good facilities, excellent service and reasonable prices.

Fantastic place to stay!, 2012-08-18
Captain: , Fort Pierce, Florida (369)

We were referred to this marina by friends who have stayed here in the past. Their review was great, but what we found was fantastic. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rates cannot be beat for extended stays and the town has that small town flavor that is so great to experience. We will definitely come back. Thanks Dianne!

Well-run, modern, clean and short walk to town. Dockmasters are helpful and take pride in their town. Nearby restaurant "All Fired Up" is a carnivore's delight. Weekend trolley-bus tour of town and surrounding area. Good way to see town. NAV NOTE: On entering Urbanna Creek, give R"2" a wide berth; shoaling here occurs frequently. Just favor Green side here.

Have been here before and love coming back. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Mojo's Cafe is great!. Also had good Italian food at Angelo's Colonial Pizza. Nice town to walk, run or bike around. Very easy in and out off the Rappahannock River. Nice clean rest room/shower.

Clean facilities and friendly dockmaster

Not great, but you will enjoy the town and the marina, 2012-05-01
Captain: , Regent Point Marina (82)

Marina: Nice; on the small side; Dianne was very friendly and helpful; restrooms and showers extremely clean but only "one seaters"; only 4 ft depth at slips so had to go in bow first. Be sure to get one of the two slips next to the central pier since the finger piers for the other slips are very short.
Town: Very quaint and enjoyable; good restaurants; do not miss the breakfasts at Virginia Street Cafe- hearty for a very reasonable price.

Oyster Fest!, 2011-11-09
Captain: , Fishing Bay VA (335)

Just stayed here for the Oyster Fest and was my first trip to Urbanna by boat. Great docks, clean, good power, cable TV, and water, free trash, clean bathrooms and easy access to the great little city of Urbanna. Watch your depth coming in from the very first red marker and give it a wide birth, after than plenty of water all around. Great shelter from the waves and freindly dockmaster make it all worth it!

Great spot., 2011-08-09
Captain: , Schooner Bay, Onancock, Va. (10)

The town marina is a great spot to overnight or stay a while and explore this historical town. The town has put a lot of effort into building a new "all included" dockage with all the amenities including trolley transport to anywhere around town, Free use of bicycles, clean showers and toilets, laundry room etc. The dockmasters are very helpful and knowledgable. The harbor is also protected by a stone breakwater at it's mouth that makes this a great spot to get out of the blow.

Urbanna is a cool town, 2011-05-17
Captain: , Smith Mountain Lake, VA (266)

Sailed into Urbanna in early May 2011 and stayed at this marina. It is well kept with clean facilities and an easy walk to town. The town is fun to explore with lots of history, shops and restaurants.

Captain: , Kilmarnock, VA (32)

Was notified today (4/23/11) that you should give the Urbanna Creek entrance marker #2 a wide berth and favor #3. A vessel ran aground today near #2.

A Very Friendly Place, 2010-10-07
Captain: , New Rochelle, NY (1000)

It is worth the short ride up the Rappahannock River. Very friendly staff, Dianne and Walter. Now they have a goose that hangs out there and acts like a dog. His name is 'Aflac'. There are restaurants and shopping nearby.

Nice place to stop., 2010-10-05
Captain: , Hampton, VA (40)

Very helpful marina staff. Urbanna is a friendly town with several good restaurants. The crab cakes at Cafe Mojo were excellent!

Homey and quiet, 2010-07-21
Captain: , Solomons MD (20)

Stayed in early June before the summer rush. Spotless restrooms & showers with a friendly staff. Town is making a play to become more touristy. Restaurants include "down home" and more elegant food. Did not try the pool, but it would be nice to have one closer to the marina.

Very Nice Marina, 2010-07-08
Captain: , Solomons, MD (464)

Still Town owned and operated. Very friendly and helpful staff. Stayed here over a busy July 4th weekend and the shower facilities stayed very clean and well supplied the entire time. Large air conditioned shower rooms. Nice library. Very close to nice restaurants. Only pool facility is at the town community park, moderate walk and $3.00 per visit.

Almost perfect, 2009-11-08
Captain: , Charleston, SC (364)

I agree with everything said by other reviewers- friendly, competent staff, charming town. However, IMOP the docks do not merit five stars. Other than two slips along either side of a center pier, the piers for the fixed docks are approximately 20 feet long. The dock master recommends bow in because of depth which makes for a difficult on and off for larger boats. Also the tie poles are only aproximately 40 feet out. Neither are a deal breakers but less than five star.

Great Small Town and Marina, 2009-10-03
Captain: , Saint Petersburg, FL (181)

If you are looking for that small, accomodating, friendly place to dock with easy access to a great small friendly town--this is it! Urbanna is well worth the 15 miles up the Rappahannok River and offers everything we boaters need. Restaurants, Grocery, Marine Supplies, Fuel. We found a bit of the past at Marshals Drug at their one of the last remaining drug store soda fountains; and, we got a bit of avant garde at the "Taste" Shop. Unfortunately, we'll miss the oyster festival in November but is very highly recommended should you be in the neighborhood then. The marina staff, especially Diane, is great! they are very friendly and will go out of their way to help you.

Great little town, 2009-08-22
Captain: , Marathon, FL (1150)

Charming stores, pretty streets, everything within easy walking distance. Or take the trolley and get a tour of the town for 25 cents. Don't miss the gourmet store - Taste. Lots of samples and cool owners. And there's an old-fashioned drug store with a real soda fountain.
