Billed as a private club, transients (referred to by club members as Visiting Yachtmen) pay the daily dues is $1. I wouldn't recommend this place for boats larger than 36 feet with 4 foot draft and 12.5 foot beam. To get off your boat you have to get off your bow sprit. Now the good part. Guy, the dockmaster is agreeable, friendly and accommodating. Folks on the dock are friendly and helpful. If you are lucky enough to be there on Friday they have an excellent TGIF party. You might bring something to share. The members are great and make you welcome. Our main reason for stopping here was to get propane at Holiday RV, one of the few places in the Keys that propane is available. A about half mile walk you have a CVS,Walgreen, coin laundry, 2 liquor stores, Burger King, Wendy's Bank of America, restaurants and a dive shop. Oh, and two dollar stores. If you happen to have a bike you have it made. We will stop here any time we are in the area. BTW. Sorry but we stayed at the first choice marina, Mangrove Marine and much prefer the Sailing Club.

We chose to come down the inside route out to Channel 5 and have loved it but there are very few places to get water. We called Guy the dock master and he said we could come in and tie up to fill up water tanks. He charged $5 for the water, very reasonable.
If you have more than a 5 foot draft, probably would not recommend going in there.
He also wanted everyone to know the transient slips are $50 flat rate, not $1/foot.

Fantastic Place, 2016-01-05

Guy and Sally are helpful and extremely courteous. This is a club and I believe allow a three day stay. Stayed overnight and was most definitely interested in becoming a member. Club members were fantastic and definitely love this area and were extremely knowledgeable . Great place to stop , have Guy serve a tasty adult beverage and stay the night.

In looking for a place to stop for the night while headed north, go ashore for a meal as well as try a new spot the sailing club seemed like a place to try. We called ahead explaining what we were looking for and got a very friendly welcome from Guy and his wife Sally. We anchored in five feet in the small cove. Our 41ft cat draws 3.5 ft. The anchor drug on the first set but set hard on the second try. Wind protection from all but West through North. Took the dink to their dingy dock and Sally explained the small fee and use of the facilities as well as suggested places to eat. Fee was five to dock dink and 1 dollar for something else.. not a problem.
Went to The Pilot house for dinner....great seafood. About a half
mile walk. Worth the stop. would visit again.

We needed to get an alternator repaired and batteries charged, they helped by alowing us to hook up to electricity to charge and were very helpful,at a resonable cost. The people were very nice and ujnderstanding of the situation. Can't say how much they are appriciated!!

Nice Sailing Club , 2013-04-07

The Upper Keys Sailing Club is a great stop in Buttonwood sound. We arrived just in time for the Dead Dogs and Tin Whistles regatta for Buccaneers and Mutineers. We enjoyed watching the races and joined in the pig roast which was excellent.

They have a nice bar and grill with a very good and friendly staff. The stay is limited to 3 three nights and was enforced by an overbearing rear commodore.

Some shopping is just up the street with a nice produce market about 1/2 mile to the north. Publix is more than a mile to the north, but a bike path makes it easy to reach on bike. We found good Cuban food just up the street on A1A.

We met a lot of very nice people and received a very warm welcome by the commodore and gained a lot of local knowledge. We will definitely stop here again.

Stayed here two nights as transients. Very helpful, reasonable rate, small charge for showers, in town near businesses, friendly folks and nice little club house/bar.

We've visited here several times and have always received a warm welcome. Transient slips are often, but not always available - definitely call ahead. Memberships available for visitors. Limited menu at bar. Some serious sailors and a wonderful group of Nonsuch owners.
