Reviews for Uncle Henry's Marina
Clean and nice people, 2015-09-18
Captain: , Winter Park, Florida (103)

We stayed here two nights in a 26' sailboat. The whole area was clean and the staff was nice. They told us all the places to see and do in the surrounding water and on the islands. I am sure we will dock there again.

bad experience, 2015-04-06
Captain: , Paris Landing TN (636)

we pulled in to fuel up and I wanted to fill up my dinghy can with gas. i knew it wouldnt be much. dock guy did not want to turn on the pump for 1/2 gallon or so but he reluctantly did. i also bought ice. as I was walking over to pick up the ice I pulled a small kroger size bag of trash to put in the trash can. he refused to allow me to throw it away. i was told if your not staying at our marina we will not take your trash. so much for helping keep florida waters clean. will not be back!

Stayed here the night of 12/10/14. Tucked away, very protected, with well-marked channel. Helpful, friendly staff. Long finger piers so not necessary to back into slip. Pricey ($2.50/ft) but very nice.

The only downside is location. You are on north end of island, away from almost everything. We started walking south, hoping to find a way to beach on Gulf side, but no access due to private mansions. No bike rental available, so if you don't have your own bike must rent golf cart to get around.

Great place to spend a night (or 3), 2014-08-03
Captain: , Charlotte Harbor, FL (263)

Well-protected, clean, great staff. We'll definitely be back soon.

Friendly staff, 2014-03-14
Captain: , Hartland, WI (30)

Very friendly and helpful staff, guided us in through the long channel and helped us dock. Nice reasturant and deli nearby. Rent a golf cart at the deli and explore the island. Boco Grand was charming. We will come back.

Good stop for the night, 2013-08-24
Captain: , Boyd, Texas (390)

Very helpful dock master. Good fuel prices, nice docks. Pay close attention to the markers and instructions, it is skinny. A tricky current sometimes @ the old trestle near the dock.

Good stop over marina, 2013-04-03
Captain: , Anna Maria, FL (165)

The entry channel is long and curvy. A call to the marina at the entry will result in good directions and personal observation by staff. Work on near-by bridge has resulted in removal of several important markers; but staff will help. Clean marina. Near-by is deli, restaurant and ba but not much else. Good bike and golf cart trails to ride to Boca Grande. Staff will arrange cart rental.

Friendly place, 2012-12-18
Captain: , Block Island, RI (954)

Long, curvy channel to the marina from the ICW. We did not see anything lower than 7 feet along the way, but it was clear there was a quick drop off along the sides. I think it was more nerve wracking in the day time when we could see the sand bars just off the channel than when we came in under darkness. Call ahead to the marina as some of the markers are missing. The folks at the marina were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Carl, the night dock manager. You can rent golf carts at the Deli just outside the marina to explore Boca Grande. And the Thai restaurant just outside the marina is excellent. There is also a nice looking Tiki Bar there, but it was closed so we never got the chance to sample it. Relatively cheap rates. Showers were adequate. Definitely not a resort, but very friendly.

nice stopover, 2012-10-17
Captain: , Palmetto (412)

The entrance channel is long; we contacted the marina near marker one and they watched us all the way in, providing information and course suggestions as need. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the marina was well maintained and clean. A dog walk area would be a nice addition.

Great stop, 2012-06-13
Captain: , TIERRA VERDE (41)

The approach is a little narrow but well marked. Neat, clean and well staffed, pick up a golf cart go to town. If they had a pool it would be five stars.

Very nice place, VERY skinny water, 2012-05-20
Captain: , Houston, TX (114)

Narrow channel all the way to the dock. Great place if you are traveling in a boat with 2 foot draft. My 5 foot draft touched many times going in. Should have known better and liistened to myconscience. Nice marine, nice people, nice docks for fixed concrete, but got hung up twice trying to get back to the GIWW. Followed local fisherman's advice for the channel. Two hours later, with SeaTow help twice, finally made it back to the channel. Never again in one of these "hole in the wall" marinas.

At $1.95 a foot, not close to much, nice facility, 2012-04-03
Captain: , Key Largo (5330)

Small exspensive store ($3 bag of ice) near by. also a restaurant is walkable. you do need to rent the golf cart to see Boca Grand, and you can't see Boca Grand any way else for this price. Nice piling docks. Protected.

Last but not least, 2011-11-27
Captain: , Kemah, Texas (30)

Boca Grande Marina was full. Access via long winding channel, but well marked. Great people. Nice store on grounds but bring lots of money $9 for a 12 pack of soda. ouch! Tight quarters maneuvering to dock. Staff was on the dock for arrival and departure.
