Reviews for Turner Marine Supply, Inc.
Special place, 2016-11-27
Captain: , Austin, TX (877)

Stayed here 10-30 and 10-31-2016. We enjoy staying here, friendly family owned. Can walk across the street to the Yacht Club for meals, very good food and good prices. Enterprise will pick you up. Lots of interesting history in the Mobile area. Not to miss Pensacola Naval and Air Museum. Outstanding. We also went to the Richards DAR house museum.

Working yard with marina attached, 2015-12-16
Captain: , Ocean Springs MS (1053)

A working, busy, boatyard. They've hauled our 20' beam catamaran twice now and we've been pleased. You can DIY here. They do have staff to work on your boat, and allow local contractors in as well. We hope we don't have to be back for awhile, (ha ha) but if we need to get boat work, Turner's is where we'll go. Bit dirty as they don't control the speed of people driving thru the yard (dust thrown and almost constant traffic) nor do they control dust from sanding work etc so it's messy to be here

Turner is Good Folks, 2015-12-07
Captain: , Port Isabel, Texas (102)

Mechanical problems in Bayou LaBatre forced us to call TowBoat US who were a great help in doing a temporary fix so we could follow them in to Turners Marine Services on Dog River. Great bunch of folks. Special thanks to Roger Turner, Brent, and Tyler and the rest of the ground crew at Turners for great work on the Sweet Pea. Hauled out twice and each time the guys got to work immediately. there is a Yanmar dealer and a West Marine Express on site so ordering and finding parts was expedited. Stayed through the Thanksgiving holiday and the staff hosted the marina guests to a tasty and festive Thanksgiving meal. Big thanks to Don and Mark of TowBoat US for assisting us not once but twice during our stay. and special to Anna Mills (Marks wife) for organizing the Wednesday night PotLucks where we met and got to know our fellow boaters. Lots of folks going through there as part of the American Great Loop Cruisers Association. We were fortunate that IF we had to have mechanical issues that it happened there. Appreciate and highly recommend this yard. it is a true working yard and we are truly happy with the work they did and the service we got.

Great place run by good people. We left our mast there for a year, they stored sails and all running inside out of the weather. I had my turbocharger replaced at HALF the quote I got in Ky. We returned to Turner's in October. Had mast stepped installed aid, well pleased with everything they did. Ended up staying for 4 months. They might take a little bit longer but it's done right the First Time. I tell everybody they are the Best!

Work on your own boat Family run mess. Their work is hit or miss and takes forever. They are vindictive so be warned.
Great prices, free wifi, courtsey car. If you spend any length of time here be warned they have electricity in the water. Will cause electrolysis on the the zincs and engines. With a 5 foot draft You will sit on the bottom at low tide in spite of what they claim.Go to Dog River Marina instead. They will take care of you and do it right the first time. Pot luck dinners left with most of the liveaboards. Really nice as long as you are spending money there.

Good People and Great Service, 2014-12-24
Captain: , Grand Haven, MI (674)

Had some major work accomplished. Place was busy and had to wait in line to get the work done. But, when it was done it was done correctly and we are very happy. We were treated very well by staff that is knowlegeble of the area. Would recomend it and have. The Service and staff rate a 5 anytime. The only reason I gave a 4 star rating is due to facility is older and showes the useage it gets
Will deffinatly stay there next time through.

Great Stop, 2014-11-29
Captain: , Vinegar Post,VA (122)

After completing the inland river portion of our Great Loop, we stopped here for routine maintenance and a break. Roger and Christie were very accommodating with both service and hospitality. They sponsored a wonderful Thanksgiving pot-luck for all the boaters in the marina. We will be happy to return to Turner Marina.

More info on package delivery., 2014-10-27

Turner Marine has always accepted packages on behalf of our customers. We accept from all professional freight companys Fedex, UPS, USPS, and others. We do not sign for deliverys that are not from a professonal delivery companys such as Lowes, Sears, HHGreg, Home Depo and others. We have had issures with large appliances being delivered with damage due to improperly packageing or unskilled delivery personel. Thank you, Turner Marine

great place to stay or stop, 2014-10-22
Captain: , Grand Rivers KY (57)

When I came through Mobile from Kentucky I was on my way to Pensacola. I like it so well that I stayed. I've been for 4 years and I have enjoyed it very much. Its a great place to work on your boat, with a friendly staff that wants to help.
When I start cruising full time next year Turner Marine will be at the top of my list for a refit stop or just a place to hang my hat.

Friendly, Accommodating, Competent, 2014-10-11
Captain: , Seabrook, TX (70)

There are not many places that cover all three matters as well as Turner Marine. We stopped in for a couple of nights and ended up having boat repairs needed. The Contractors that they use are terriffic... we need a mechanic and an A/C guy. Both were great! The facilities are nice more than adequate and I just can't say enough about the people. They loaned us a car several times to take care of some things we needed to do. Free of Charge! We are heading back that way shortly and intend to stay there again.

A friendly place!., 2014-09-03
Captain: , Charleston SC (805)

Facilities adequate, working yard, good transient rates. Chandra, receptionist, especially helpful.
Note. Be aware it is company policy not to sign for shipments received on behalf of customers. We were not aware of this, nor was Chandra with whom we had made arrangements to receive a shipment as we would be absent from the marina On instructions from management, the shipment for us was refused as we were absent from the premises and staff are forbidden to sign on behalf of customers which caused us considerable inconvenience and dellay

Dog River full service Marina, 2014-05-14
Captain: , Kettering, Ohio (250)

Turner Marine has two travel lifts and acomodates wide beam boats. They have transient dockage and are reasonably priced. They have a loaner car and are very helpful.

Very accomodating, 2013-12-04
Captain: , Meredith, NH (638)

Pulled with late reservations. The dock personel made a great effort to make room for us. Their pump out was not operating so we were sent to another marina for that service. Enjoyed 3 nights including celebration with 2 loopers completing their trip at local yacht club. Highly recommend.

Great Place for Repairs, 2013-12-01
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (602)

Stopped at Turner Marine for a bottom paint and repairs. Roger and Christy are very friendly and helpful. Mechanics are first rate. Best of all their prices are very reasonable. I don't hear that often when it comes to boat repairs. West Marine Express across the street.
No fuel or pumpout, which was a problem when repairs take two weeks. This yard does good work at great prices and they are very busy. Expect to be delayed but also expect to have a good time with Wednesday night potluck dinners and docktails most evenings with other boaters.

Excellent Service, 2013-11-22
Captain: , Fayetteville, Arkansas (671)

I've been on the hard for about a month doing a bottom job. I have to say that the guys and gals are great a Turner. Roger and Cory are very conscientious when it comes to travel-lifting boats. The are knowledgeable and ready to answer questions and help. Chrisy and Stephanie in the office are fantastic as well.

Great place for service, 2013-11-11
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (366)

We want add on everyone else's comments.
We just finished staying here and are extremely satisfied. Christy gave us the name of a great restaurant to go to (Legacy) and the rest of the staff was very helpful.
The Wednesday night pot luck dinner is a lot of fun
However I cannot say enough good things about Roger. We have had a high pitch squeal issue since Chicago and he quickly diagnosed it as a problem with our drip less shaft and fixed it. He and his staff did a number of repairs quickly, professionally an fat a very good price.
We would stop by here again if we came this way again.

The best in Dog River, 2013-11-10
Captain: , Trenton ON (668)

This is the top notch marina in Dog River to get work gone by friendly helpful staff. They cannot do enough for their guests.
Stay for a Wednesday evening pot- luck.

Excellent Marina and Service with community life, 2013-09-09
Captain: , Dallas (31)

My wife and I have been living at this marina now for almost a year. The community is great and the service is excellent. Prices are good too!

Good People here, 2013-04-17
Captain: , Hamburg,GER (310)

"Wintered" the boat here on land and found it to be taken well care of. Not a high end marina but stuff that knows well how to handle boats after every storm I saw them walking along docks and boats on dry checking lines and stands. Would recommend this without doubt but make sure to enter and leave at high tide with >6ft.

Great "Looper" stop, 2013-01-05
Captain: , Kingman Yacht Center Cataumet, MA (223)

Visited Turner Marine for a few days in November. There were many Loopers there getting masts stepped, repairs, and some just staging to cross the bay and head to the panhandle.

We found Turners to be extremely affordable, convenient, friendly and helpful.
There is no fuel at Turners, however Dog River is adjacent and has diesel, gas and pumpouts.
There are bath/showers, laundry and a nice covered area for boaters to gather in the evenings.

Southern Hospitality, 2012-12-16
Captain: , Hawesville,Ky (371)

Fiar prices, friendly staff, and fairly nice facilities (for a small boat yard) make this marina a greatstop for those about to start their Great Loop journey. We stopped here to have our mast dropped and were happy to find a west marine express nearby. The service at the marina was cheap, and although the store was a little bare bones, it had enough to get you by. The marina also has a small courtosey car. Although the shower facilities are basic, they are more than comfortable for a small boatyard.

Don't Miss the Boat, 2012-08-01
Captain: , Marooned (92)

One of the best operations you'll find anywhere along the Loop -- great rates, great staff, great atmosphere.

Top Notch service, people, expertise, and workmanship, 2012-02-15
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (2982)

Roger and Christie are truly some of the finest, most professional, and caring folks you could possibly find. The attention to detail, expertise, and pricing are second to none. We spent a month on the hard, did a complete bottom job (took it right down to the barrier coat), and had some other more complex stuff done. Don't let Roger fool you; he doesn't come off like the smartest guy on the planet, but he definitely has got it goin', and even more important, doesn't act like everything is a trade secret. Ask him a question, you will get the benefit of his expertise, even if he isn't doing the work. His #2 guy, Tyler(?) is equally good. Be sure to be there for their Thanksgiving celebration, too!

Highly Recommended, 2012-01-05
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

We are in the last stages of the Loop so we have visited over a 100 marinas. You could not find a better marina than Turners. Roger Turner and his wife Christie put forth tremendous effort to take care of a boaters needs. We left our boat here for 6 weeks during the Holiday, and they took very good care of the boat.
Turner is also a AGLCA sponsor and presented at the Fall Rendezvous in Joe Wheeler . His topic was electronic upgrades, so we hired him to do some much needed upgrades to our boat. I am very satisfied with the quality of the work, at a very reasonable price. Can't say enough good about this marina. Try them.

Turner Marine, 2011-04-06
Captain: , Atlanta (314)

Great Customer Service attitude, they really go out of their way to help. Have stopped there a couple of times, stored a boat there for many months, and sold a boat through their on-site brokerage service. Everyone I met was great and exhibited a customer first attitude!

Usually have a few slips available. Alongside berths are great. Very well protected from waves and wakes, somewhat exposed to winds.

floodwater, 2011-03-17

good place to wait for flood water to subside on lower tenntom

Great Working Marina, 2010-11-05
Captain: , Mobile, AL (38)

If you are looking for a marina to do work on your own boat. This is the best there is. The staff at Turner will advise or contract the part of the work that you do not want to perform yourself.

Nice Marina with good service yard, 2010-10-25
Captain: , Snellville, GA (162)

Stayed here for a short time in 2008. Had a bottom job and a few minor repairs. Nice work and very reasonable. Slips are kept in good repair and the rates are among the best in the area.

Good for the money, 2009-10-14
Captain: , fairland (2653)

If you tell them about your boatus membership, the rates can't be beat. Not all slips have 50 amp. Depending on where you are, you may have to walk a quarter mile to the bath. Some slips are in very tight quarters...
