Troy Downtown Marina Closed for repair, 2017-07-05
Captain: , Stuart, Fl (30)

Phone number has been referred to the Mayor's office who says the marina will not open for 2017. Repairs and upgrades are planned. Closed until further notice.

Non-existent, 2017-06-25

No marina facilities in Troy this year other than Starbuck.

No docks this season!, 2017-06-22
Captain: , Marco Island, Florida (303)

We were desappointed to discover that there were no docks at the Troy Downtown Marina this year as we came by on June 20, 2017. Your note says "closed for the season due to sea wall renovations." Unfortunately, we did not see any evidence of any renovations or activity of any type. We have been stopping here for the last 25 years, and have enjoyed going to Brown's Brewing Troy Tap Room to try out the local brews. The city of Troy is missing a bet by not repairing the docks. Remember the movie "Field of Dreams'? "If you build it, they will come." Many of the towns on the Erie Canal have discovered this. If you have docks, boaters will stop and come into your town and spend money. We've asked several people in Waterford about the status of the docks, and no one seems to think anything will happen. Hopefully the seawall renovations will be completed and the docks will be in place next summer!

What a horrible dock!, 2016-10-13
Captain: , Tempe, AZ (240)

The access to town is good, but the area is rough. I can't imagine why they charge $1.50/ foot... What do they do with the money? It clearly isn't used to improve the facilities. For entertainment we sat on our bridge and watched the guy who sat on a park bench 20 feet away. He spent the evening putting small amounts of white powder in baggies and receiving many visitors to his bench.

More than adequate for an overnight stay, 2016-07-29
Captain: , Moyock, NC (1084)

The dock runs along the side of a wall. It's not in bad shape but has been reduced to half its lenght over the past few years. The fuel price is the best anywhere along the Hudson. After 2016 they'll close to rebuild the wall and the dock.

THE Best location, "Lacking" almost evrything else, 2016-07-07
Captain: , Bristol, RI (50)

We stayed here 1 night on our journey north. Dockmaster Eric and his team were great - nice and really helpful. The location is PERFECT for access to really good waterfront restuarants & bars. And, if you are there on a summer Wednesday, there is the "Rockin the River" outdoor concert in a beautiful riverfront park. Gas & Diesel were the cheapest around. All of this is the "good". Here is the "not so good": no electricity, showers/baths. or water. The dock is structurally fine, but many warped boards make for trip hazards. And one place, where the docks follow the angled seawall, there is a 1 ft gap you can fall into. Basic message: Put your pnone away as you walk and watch where you step - just as though you are walking on a back-country trail. We will come back and stay because of the access to the city. But the physical facilities leave much to be deisred. (I'm told they are closing end of 2016 season for a 1-year rebuild). 5 stars for location & staff, 1 star for facilities.

There is no marina!, 2016-05-22
Captain: , Fort Myers beach (40)

Floating docks are in the water. No services available and the gate is locked so you can't get to land. Basically like being on the hook.

Good stop fo the night, 2015-06-28
Captain: , Falmouth, Maine (176)

This is a good stop. They were not ready for the season yet as the power and the bathrooms were not installed so they didn't charge is anything. They did run an extension cord to the boat so that we could keep the batteries up to charge.

Great Free Dock to Vidit Historic Troy, 2015-06-09
Captain: , East Greenwich RI (515)

The docks are old, a bit rikety and much like old NewEngland boat yards!! Plenty of cleats well spaced and secure. Quiet and friendly area. Dock master Eric was most helpfull and attentive. We walked into down town --a storm was brewing and he called us and offered advice and would send a cab if we so desired! We had closed the boat up and just sat the storm out in Sweet Sues pastery shop-203 River St. We ate too much at 3pm and had to forgo dinner!!but it was worth every extra pound!!!!
The little city of Troy has lots of esocerteric shops and a beautifull St. Pauls Eposcipoal Church with some of the best Tiffany's I have seen other that in St Augustine Flagger College. Only open for services and not general open door policy as far as I could tell.
It was worth the stop but tomorrow we might hook up at the Welcoming Center which offers much better ammenities and shopping/provisioning opportunities .
Lack of electric, and heads --is only reason for not giving this a better rating.

a great stope, 2014-11-10
Captain: , newport beach (128)

super nice dockmaster, solid dock, gas & diesel avalible,
elctrricity was only 15 amp when i was there at the very end of the season but i was still happy with the location.

not many boat services around but also not too far away for a taxi ride, caterpiller dealers just 25 min away

Still no power and water, 2014-08-21
Captain: , Calgary (291)

Still fairly run down after the hurricane but they are now charging full rates with no water and 15A electricity that is only available at the fuel dock. Washrooms are temporary with no hot water. Attendants very friendly and helpful

Still no power or water, 2014-07-02
Captain: , Rochester NY (310)

Stopped here July 2. Nice floating dock along the wall with room for quite a few boats. It's currently free but will be $1.50 per foot when the power and water are finished. Eric and his assistant helped us tie up and welcomed us. Rocking on the River every Wednesday and fireworks tonight so they're expecting a crowd.

Great Place to Stay!, 2014-06-17
Captain: , Virginia Beach, VA (85)

We spent the night of 6/16/14 and couldn't have been more pleased. The previous writer was correct about the number listed being wrong - the correct number is 518-764-0716. This is the cell number of Eric Ferraro, dock master, who couldn't be more helpful. Their amenities are limited (one water hose,15 amp power) but they have good floating docks, fuel (gas & diesel ),their location is superb & the price can't be beat - FREE! We will definitely be back & wish the best to Troy Docks & Marina in their efforts to recover from the hurricane setbacks.

Troy Downtown Marina, 2014-06-17
Captain: , Chocowinity Bay, NC (180)

This is a great stop, but needs some clarifications. Phone is 518-764-0716. Location is on right beginning immediately after Troy Green Island lift bridge, heading north pass under right span. Dockmaster Eric, extremely helpful. Tie up at 5' wide floating dock by concrete wall. Steps, not ladder, go to city park. No electric at moment, but has fuel and water. Docking at no charge since electric is out. Super friendly. Restaurants begin at top of steps, and downtown about 5 minute walk with drugstore and other shopping. Dockage, location, and service (even without electric) make this a five star marina

Not Answering the Phone, 2014-06-02
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (241)

Listed phone number answered by an exasperated woman who says she is not associated with any marina. Called number listed for Troy Dock in a 2006 guidebook (518 273 2200) and was told Troy Downtown Marina not in operation and was directed to Forevever Young Marina on south end of Green Island at 42 43.968N 73 41.678W. The Dockmaster, Joe, said he had operated Troy Docks previously, and that the current group was having organizational problems. The Forever Young Marina offers floating docks with room for 4 or 5 transients with 30/50A power & water and a loaner car. Phone is(518) 470-0461. No other services, but the docks are attached to a barge which has a canopy roof and a bar where slipholders gather. Address is 3 Osgood Ave., Green Island, NY.

In process of re-opening, 2013-07-04
Captain: , Britt, Ontario (711)

We arrived on June 13th when the Troy Federal lock was closed due to flooding and tied up. No ramp in place (because of flood) but there was a ladder built into the cement wall. The newly appointed dockmaster did everything he could to make our stay pleasant including rides to stores. They do plan to add to and improve this facility. Excellent restaurants nearby and Saturday Farmers Market.

New and improving by the minute, 2013-06-28
Captain: , Troy City Hall, Troy, NY (13)

The Troy docs are now open under new management. Expansion and improvements are coming. The locatyion is optimal, as you can dock in the middle of Downtown and take advantage of the services there.

Nice Docks!, 2013-01-22
Captain: , Edgewater (321)

We love staying here on the way to the canals. The owner is great. Great gas dock. I'm not sure how they weathered the hurricane. There are some great restaurants, bars and chain stores within walking distance during the day, the town near the dock looks like it might not be the best place to walk around at night. The owner even lent us his car on one stay so we could re-provision at a local supermarket.

Joe's Dock, 2012-08-27
Captain: , Sarnia (60)

Troy Dock was wiped out in the flood of 2011. However, our first trip to Troy in 2006, we met Joe Berlino, at the Dock. Aug 17/2012, I called him about conditions, he said the dock was out of commission, but we could stay at his dock befor the bridge. Left his keys in his car should we need provisioning. 518-471-0461. 1st class!

decent stop over., 2012-06-27
Captain: , Marlboro Yacht Club, Marlboro NY (515)

we stayed here a few times and like it, good food and drink within walking distance. Dock master very nice. Havent been back since hurricane but I am sure it will be put back together.

Dockmaster made an overnight pleasurable. Some wake by passing boats, but not bad. Town is right there.

Nice dockmaster, very dedicated, 2011-10-17
Captain: , Croton on Hudson, NY (317)

Troy is a nice town and the Dock Master is very dedicated. Easy docking. Nice houses to look at nearby as well.

Good for visiting the downtown of yesteryear, 2011-06-01
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Troy downtown is minutes from the marina. The buildings are lovely to tour but all are empty. No shopping but some restaurants. Joe, dockmaster, is very dedicated & helpful. Docks are old & no security.

Dock MAster Makes This Place Great, 2010-10-17
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

Wakes are present, but Troy is a neat town and the Dock Master is so great. Easy docking.

Many Repeats, 2010-07-15
Captain: , Westbrook, CT (296)

Joe Berlino leases this facility from the Town of Troy and goes out of his way to be helpful. Often loans his truck to boaters for groceries or other errands. We are always happy to compensate. Diesel and Gas avail on three new sections of docks. New pump out installed. Three washrooms with showers available. Joe sometimes takes boaters/guests to airport or train station if not busy time of day. Great Farmers Market on Saturdays. Easy walking to center of town. Since Waterford is almost always full with no dock space available, we have always stayed at Troy on our 8 trips through. Dockage is $1.50 per foot.

Port in a storm, 2009-09-22
