Reviews for Town of Gananoque Municipal Marina
Nice big marina., 2016-10-02
Captain: , Toronto (482)

Nice big marina, nice town.

Good Marina and Town, 2016-06-29
Captain: , Dover, DE. (40)

We stayed here for 2 nights in August 2015. It's a large marina and when we arrived in a strong wind they were short handed and could not help with lines. Managed fine particularly as it was a double slip with no boat next to us. The town is great with good shopping, restaurants, a farmer's market, lovely parks. A highlight is the playhouse with outstanding productions. It is on the river with a dock so we took our dinghy to the show and motored home by a full moon.

Convenient, Well Maintained Marina, 2015-07-03
Captain: , Pultneyville, NY (852)

We have vitisted the municiple marina at Gan several times over the years and things just keep improving. The staff was friendly and helpful; we were checked in quickly and efficiently, and the town/shops are just a short walk from the marina. The pump-out fee si now $20.00, not $19.00 as listed. The marina has installed wi-fi amplifieers on the docks so the wi-fi signal is strong and easy to access.

Excellent facility, 2015-06-01
Captain: , New Castle, NH (70)

Well maintained and protected marina with a large number of transient docks. Friendly and helpful staff. The laundry, shower and toilet facilities were clean and well appointed. The downtown area with numerous restaurants--we ate in a fun English pub, banks and a convience store is about a 15 minute walk. We arrived before the waterfront tourist shops were open. Excellent overall experience

As a marina should be., 2015-03-05
Captain: , Black River, Ontario, Canada (224)

Stayed a few rainy days when things were not comfortable at anchor, great marina, good showers, courtious helpful staff.
Enjoyed walking around town, good restaurants, bars, and a great historic old hardware store, talk to the owner, an original.

Marina and great Laundry, 2014-03-28
Captain: , Toronto (23)

Great public marina. Very clean. Best of all there is an AWESOME laundry mat up the hill on king street right across the bridge and across from the park. Just drop you stuff off and come back in few hours and it is done. Less than doing it yourself at a coin laundry mat.

Clean and friendly, 2014-02-19
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (333)

This is a very clean and well maintained marina. A lot of weeds float into the marina, but the staff cleans them out of the slips on a regular basis. There are a large number of showers, which are very clean. The satff is very helpful and friendly.

Great Spot and a Boat Ramp, 2013-10-06
Captain: , Racine (121)

We cruise via a 21' trailerable trawler (Ranger Tug). We agree with the positive comments others have made and give it 5 stars because of the convenient boat ramp next to the marina.

Good marina, 2013-09-04
Captain: , Ottawa (1173)

Spent a night here. Good comfortable marina. Everything you need, showers, bathrooms, laundry, etc, at a reasonable price. Many stores and restaraunts in Gananoque are an easy walk or taxi ride away.

Nice quaint town, 2013-08-27
Captain: , Venice, Fl. (919)

we stayed several night here due to weather. Very friendly people on the docks as well as the staff. Clean restrooms and showers. Saw a matinee at the Thousand Island Playhouse that was good. Town has several restaurants, a hardware store and grocery.

Clean Municipal Marina, 2012-07-29
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (445)

Stayed one night at this busy marina to clear customs (by phone very easy) and to see this quaint town. Book ahead as the waitlist for our Friday night was long. Long walk along dock, especially for dog. Found a decent restaurant in a B&B, Trinity House. Slips are for two boats with no dock iin between, so fender both sides.

First Class Facility, 2011-08-07
Captain: , Brewerton, NY (489)

The Gananoque Municipal Marina is a clean and well run facility in a beautiful location. Day use Town Dock is colocated within marina basin. Entertaining to watch the steady stream of boats coming and going throughout the day. Can be breezy, so just be mindful as you locate your slip. Lots of dining choices - casual and fine dining -within easy walking distance. Save room for dessert at Nana Splitz on Stone Street, which has really good/ample ice cream offerings at reasonable prices. Nice small sand beach with jumping platform is located on south side of marina basin.

Clean facility, 2011-06-27
Captain: , Mesa AZ (1609)

Easy place to "check in" to Canada from USA. Friendly staff. Too many that weeds that should be raked off the water surface. But, the facilities are clean. Stores & restaurants are within walking distance.

Great Spot - Very Friendly, 2011-02-22
Captain: , Kingston, ON (455)

The Gan Marina is a friendly spot with clean services. It can be breezy, so be aware of wind conditions when docking. Boaters on nearby slips are usually quick to assist when you are coming in. Fuel docks are nearby, but not part of the marina.

POI: The 1000 Island Playhouse - Community theatre that never fails to entertain.
Liquor Store within easy walking distance.
Grocery store is about a 10-15 minute walk. Taxi service is available if you prefer to take a cab back to the marina.

Numerous restaurants in the area. Nana Splits has the best value on ice cream! (read, huge scoops!)

Great Place to Stay, 2010-10-18
Captain: , St. Catharines (498)

Nice docks, friendly staff. The liquer store is only a short walk away. We had to walk downtown for groceries. A cab might have been a better option.
Some nice restaurants in the area.

just right, 2009-09-04
Captain: , Portland, Maine (326)

Has a good clean facility in a nice town that has plenty of stores.

Very convenient, 2009-08-18
Captain: , Port Ontario, Lake Ontario (410)

Docks are close to downtown and it's not too far to Canadian Tire and food stores, maybe bicycle range would be better. Facilities are in nice shape and had no time limit issues but perhaps they missed us.

Nice peaceful marina, 2009-07-08
Captain: , Key West, FL (748)

Very nicely maintained marina in a peaceful little town, where you can have a busman's holiday of sorts by taking one of the Gananoque Boat Tour excursions to learn more about the 1000 Island area, history and people, and including visiting Boldt Castle. There is also a nice museum where admission is by donation for this season, where you can see some interesting exhibits, watch an interesting video about Boldt and his castle and buy some tourist items. Ice cream is also only a few feet away.

3 hour dock, 2009-06-27
Captain: , fairland (2653)

time limit is enforced. But allows plenty of time to call customs and clear, go to bank and stores.

Gananoque Marina, 2009-02-22
Captain: , Whitby (1653)

This marina is run by the local municipality. It is clean and well organized, offering fuel, water, ice, transient and permanent slips, laundry, showers, etc.
There are day docks in the area.
Local shopping is good, including tourist-type shops, groceries, liquor, beer and more.

Caution - The water plumbed to the slips is not potable.
