They were able to schedule us in a week with the fourth of July holiday that week. They were fiendly and prompt with the work. Found both electrical issues quickly and resolved them. Very friendly.

Had a failing motor mount and a last minute call before 4th of July weekend to Tidewater. They had us move our boat to their marina/boat yard on Wednesday. By Friday afternoon, we had 4 new motor mounts installed and tested. Great service, very friendly staff. Even loaned us their car for a quick trip we needed to make.

Not upfront with estimates- sloppy work cost customer extra money, 2016-10-03
Captain: , Hampton, NH (10)

Boat tied up and out of water almost 1 Mont dorm a 2+ week job. they damaged boat while taking out of water and damaged chain/anchor locker while working on it. complained about over charges and lack of professional workmanship.
management did not want to listen to reason, and refuses to correct their mistakes.
We feel that because we were transient cruisers that they did not care because they probably will never see us again. That point is correct, they will not have the opportunity to rip us off, not keep their commitment to professional work, and take advantage of us again. We will NEVER recommend them to anyone.

Amazing Service and Expertise, 2015-09-25
Captain: , Denver, CO (22)

We have a 45' motoryacht we bought used and are relatively new to boating. We wanted some basic work done like installing a new television, changing the oil, general maintenance and making sure our anchor ground tackle was adequate. We worked with Robert Waldon who was so knowledgeable and helpful. He made suggestions on what was needed for our future cruise down the ICW. From a test drive he felt that the running gear might be fouled so he suggested a haul out. Uh oh. He discovered so much marine growth and the fact that the bottom paint had dissolved years ago. Poor Bob had to tell us we needed to paint the bottom then had to tell the yard they needed to do it the next day.
I was shocked at the quality of the television installation. It was trimed, secure and looked like it came with the boat. The backup camera we got was installed perfectly and works great. It was really fun to see the boat bottom get painted. We got a great chance to really feel the scale of the boat. But most importantly Bob took the time to give us some lessons on knot tying, deploying and retrieving the anchor, maintenance and navigation. He made suggestions about where to dock on our cruise and has generally become a great source of knowledge and advice for us newbies. Thank you Bob and Tidewater Yacht Services. Another happy customer. Jen and Tom Steele

TYS proved that they take pride in their work, 2015-08-10
Captain: , Annapolis (50)

I had some problems with Tidewater's work from earlier in the year and decided that it would be best to move on in correcting the issues and to not take my boat back to them and advise others to do the same on Active Captain. To their credit they reached out to me totally unsolicited to assure me that they take great pride in their work and wanted to ensure satisfaction. Service Advisor Bob Waldron traveled to my boat, inspected the issues and offered to make everything right. Bob was true to his word and corrected every issue and also went over my boat to find other issues that were unknown to me that I needed to address. They kept me up to date every step of the way, walked me through each recommended repair and covered everything in detail when I picked the boat up. Could not ask for more.

Excellent Facility, 2014-07-06
Captain: , Kemah, TX (622)

We chose Tidewater, even though we would have preferred to stay in Annapolis, however, service on our engine would have required a two week wait in the Annapolis Area. I called Carol, who transferred me to Scott, and he immediately scheduled me for a 1000 Hour Inspecition of our Yanmar 4JH5E engine. Not knowing the area, I was a bit concerned initially until I had read the reviews here in Active Captain. We arrived at the marina on a Sunday afternoon in time to be invited to a private party in the marina, band, food, and great company. Monday morning, I spoke with Scott, and he immediately put a technician (Adam) on our engine. The injectors needed to be removed and the fuel distribution spray had to be checked, requiring an outside vendor. Adam volunteered to deliver the injectors to the vendor that afternoon in order to shorten our stay at the facility. On Tuesday, by noon, the injectors were returned and installed, we did a quick-haul on the boat to inspect a thru-hull. The whole event was completed by Tuesday afternoon, and we departed very early Wednesday morning to return to Annapolis. We discovered a slight leak at the #2 injector, and notified Scott upon our arrival in Annapolis. Scott immediately dispatched Adam to inspect and tighten the offending item. Despite the minor issue with the injector, all maintenance was thoroughly and professionally accomplished. The yard is clean, busy, and well taken care of. We would return again, with no hesitation. Thanks Guys for a job well done!

These professionals perform maintenance services with attention to detail and a can do attitude. Everyone is customer oriented and friendly, willing to share tips and advice. The marina is clean -- especially the showers -- and well organized with a terrific ship's store that matches prices. Walmart and Harris Teeter grocery stores are nearby so provisioning is easy. Locust Point and Federal Hill neighborhoods easily explored by bike offer many restaurants and taverns.Tidewater is definitely one of the better places from which to explore Baltimore, especially if you want a full service marina and yard.

Honest, dependable service work performed, 2011-11-18

We've had our boat maintained and serviced here for years. Jeff the SVC MGR is calm, professional and honest. Costs aren't cheap by any means but value is solid.

Reasonable alternative to Inner Harbor if you need work done but be careful, 2011-10-25
Captain: , Cleveland (2083)

My husband and I stayed here for 7 weeks due to a broken arm/surgery. The monthly rate is competitive and electric is metered. The restrooms and showers are great and the floating docks are very nice. The marina is very quiet and safe. Carol in the office is very friendly and helpful. We rented a car so the fact that there is very little accessible via walking was not an issue for us. We decided to have some work done on the boat while we were delayed at Tidewater, (hull painting and some bottom paint touch up). We were verbally quoted a good price for the work. We asked for a written estimate for the costs and were assured we would get one when the boat was pulled. We were leaving on a short trip the day the boat was pulled and left having sent a detailed email about the work we wanted done, but received no written estimate from Tidewater. A friend in the marina recommended Tidewater so we were not concerned. When we returned several days later the work was completed. The hull painting was done beyond the level of quality we asked for and expected. The painter went above and beyond what we asked for when we received the verbal quote. He did an excellent job of sanding and preparation, well beyond what we said we were willing to pay to a maximum of $3,000. We believe he took pride in his work and wanted to get it done to his satisfaction, knowing there was a predetermined maximum price. The result was beautiful and we were very appreciative. We knew the labor involved was well beyond what was anticipated but that was not a problem for Tidewater. The verbal quote we received was between $2,500 to $3000, being closer to $2,500. There was some confusion/difference of opinion about the cost being $3,400 instead of $3,000 When we indicated we were certain the maximun price was $3,000, that price was honored. We did, however, later discover that the price did not include some incidentals like tape, brushes, solvents etc. The bottom line is a written estimate could have avoided all confusion. We talked to two other boaters getting work done and they also found that verbal prices were less than the final bottom line, sometimes significantly so. The $95 dollar labor charge is used for all work, with a 15 minute minimum, and sometimes seemed exobrbitant, such as unloading a dinghy off a truck with a towmotor. The impression we have is that Tidewater is too loose with price quotes and very quick to charge the $95.00 labor charge. There seems to be a feeling that a few hundered dollars of unexpected add-ons is not a big deal, or almost to be expected. We believe most people expect the price to come in as stated, or if unforseen problems are discovered, prior notification and approval should be sought before additonal costs are incurred. Having said all that, we are very happy with the work that was completed at a very good price. I would consider getting work done there again, but we would insist on a written estimate that includes a list of "possible unforseen problems, and the possible additional costs". We found it a shame to have people upset with the pricing end of what we perceived as quality work by the staff.

Gem of a yard, 2011-04-26
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (12)

Great work yard, great marina for my purposes. In this captain's opinion, one of two marinas in the Baltimore (inner) harbor that still listen to, and accomodate their clients' desires rather than shoehorning each into a prescribed regime. Keep up the great work!
