Reviews for Tidewater Marina
Tidewater Marina, 2016-09-29
Captain: , Marion, MA (60)

Welcoming, friendly capable boat handling and moorings outside. Note chart says entry to Havre de Grace is channel 8' deep 100' wide, This is wrong! The channel is commercial grade saw nothing less than 15' and est. 250' wide. We carried 6'4" draft into the harbor and marina no problem. Will come back.

great place, 2016-09-10
Captain: , Carolina Beach, NC (362)

Came to Tidewater to have the standing rigging replaced. Garrett, the service manager and Mike, the rigger, did a great job. During the process there were some anomolies encounterd, but Mike worked through them and put the rigging right. The cost for the work was very fair. I can recommend them for repair work.
The marina has a courtesy van for use and the marina attendants were very helpful, especially Billy. He made sure that we had everything that we needed. The north end facilities are really nice and kept clean.
The town of Havre de Grace has a lot to do and has a great "1st Friday" the 1st friday of each month during the warm weather where about 6 blocks are closed and there is live music, vendors, and the resturants have sidewalk seating. A great way to spend Friday evening. I can recommend Havre de Grace and Tidewater Marina for a visit.

Great Price, Location, 2016-06-19
Captain: , Bohemia River, Chesapeake Bay (149)

I stayed in a transient slip for 2 nights over Memorial Day weekend. The staff was friendly, helpful and after hailing on VHF, helped me tie up in the slip, and drove me to the office in their golf cart. ( a long walk due to having multiple yard basins). The slips are fixed docks, but there was a lower section in my slip so I could board my little 21 foot sailboat at low tide.

I was in the north basin, that had a narrow opening ifrom the Bay. There were lots of powerboats out on Memorial day, and I was a little surprised how much the wakes came through the opening and rocked all the boats in the basin. It wasn't bad, just noticeable. At night there were no issues with wakes or noise.

Bathrooms were very good at least in the north basin. It was a hot day, and the air conditioning in the rest/shower room felt great.

The marina is dog friendly, and gave my dog treats when near the office. There's adequate grassy areas for the dog to walk, and the quiet town is right there. There's also a little park just to the north of the marina for more dog walking space.

While Havre de Grace is a little sleepy town, the location of the marina is good in town. There's a few cafe's and coffee shops a little north on Washington street, as well as the Laurrapin restaurant, one of the best in town. For ice cream, try Bomboy's just a little south on Market street.

Just a bit further south down Market street, at the little lighthouse you can take a walk on the "Promenade" or boardwalk. It runs all the way south to the city marina, where the Promenade grill is located near a large park. Outdoor seating only, but the food and ice cream there are also very good, as are the views.

Price is good for transients. Very reasonable $1.50 per night.

Full Service Yard, 2015-09-25
Captain: , Daytona (410)

Great stop over in Havre de Grace. We arrived after hours with no problem - Jeff provided all necessary information by phone before leaving. Working yard very organized and clean as were the heads & showers. Very large and nicely stocked ships store. Slips were a bit narrow making it a bit tricky to dock with no dock hands. Easy walk to town with shops & restaurants.

Highly recommend - Full Service Marina!, 2015-09-21
Captain: , Ipswich, MA (162)

Great choice for a visit to Havre de Grace. Debbie & her staff made our stay very enjoyable. We used the courtsey car for grocery shopping and Home Depot run all within 10-15 minutes from marina. Excellent marine store. Heads & showers very clean. On-site recycle bins in addition to trash. Short walk to shops, restaurants and park where there was an oyster festival sponsored by a local restaurant.

Captain: , Linwood, NJ (20)

All staff not only extremely friendly, but more importantly, intent on giving responsive top notch service. comfortable, clean, well maintained & organized / Service dept. Mike & John are in their game.

Very good facilities, EXCELLENT yard, 2014-10-16
Captain: , Muskegon, MI (2982)

Great heads (north side are better), top notch yard. Great town (One Stop has best beer selection and prices on the bay), and the bakery is great. Service staff is so helpful with any questions that I would go out of my way to return. Spent 10 days on the hard here and can't say enough good things about them.

Convenient to Town, 2014-10-14
Captain: , Essex (140)

Due to weather stayed over in Tidewater, Oct 2 - 4th. Transient slips consisted of T dock ends and the bulkhead. We stayed on the balkhead at the end of the entrance canal. Beware of three issues with this location. 1 you are immediately next to the small sailboat lift used on Thursday's and Friday's by the one design sailors which makes the area crowded with celebrating sailors. 2. The weed/grass/dead fish floatsome collects in this corner of the harbor, making the water both unattractive and creating a potential issue for coldwater intakes. 3. The spiders along the dock are the size of small rodent and over the 3 nights we were there we must have collected a half dozen or more of these critters.
The facilaties are adequate. The marina has a well stocked chandlery and the staff are courteous. I did find however that the restrooms could have been cleaner and like the dock had numerous spider webs in all the corners and windows.

The town of Havre de Grace is delightful and well worth a stop if you have not been here before. The Decoy Museum is unique and fun to see. For dining would recommend the Vineyard Wine Bar for dinner and McGregor Irish Pub for lunch.

Helpful staff, great marina store, 2014-10-04
Captain: , philadelphia (440)

We had our 27' sailboat trucked in and put on blocks. In the marina we painted the bottom, put up the mast, and did some of that miscellaneous work a boat always needs. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable, and the marina store had literally everything we needed at prices comparable, and often less than westmarine. If you need to work on a boat in this area, I'd 100% choose tidewater.

Nice place and convenient to town, 2014-10-02
Captain: , Catawba Island, OH (523)

Dock hand was helpful and they put us on a wall close to the showers and restroom. We used the courtesy shuttle to hit the liquor store and the grocery that would have been a hike if you were walking and lugging a bunch of stuff. Close to restaurants, laundry and the shops in town. Dockage was $1.50 a foot plus extra for electric. $6 for 30 amp. Clean showers, hot water, and good water pressure. Narrow entrance into the marina, so watch out.

Good Spot and Nice Staff, 2014-08-29
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

For $1.50/ft, this was a fine place and the location is very good. Docks in good shape. Electric was high at $12 for 50 amp. Easy docking.

great place right in town, 2013-11-26
Captain: , cushing, maine (482)

A friendly marina with full services. Good fuel prices. Reasonable pump-out. Courtesy car. Reduced rates for longer stays. All services. We stayed two weeks and had a great time poking around an interesting town. Lots to see and do.

Top Notch Facility, 2013-11-20
Captain: , Yarmouth, ME (180)

Great spot for our Sabre 30 sailboat. The facilities are well maintained, staff is friendly, and the boat service staff is responsive and knowledgeable. We'll surely return.

Decent marina in a great town., 2013-10-09
Captain: , Richardson, TX (552)

I think that last person might have been reviewing the wrong place! There were lots of restaurants and shopping facilities in Havre de Grace. We had two of the best meals we've had in the bay (Laurrapin Grille was excellent and also The Ritz) and thoroughly enjoyed the little shops. Everyone was SO friendly and we were lucky enough to get there on the first Friday of the month when they close off the street and have food, drink, live music and little stalls all up and down Washington St. Anyway, the staff at Tidewater were friendly, there to meet us, the rest rooms very clean and the location was great. A short walk to town. One issue was that it was a little tight for us (we're 49ft, 15 ft beam) getting in and not much room for boats to pass beside us on the T-head..... they were in and out all weekend. (Area "C"). The docks are fixed and they request that you to hand them the loop end of your lines so be ready. All in all this was a good stop and we would stay here again.

Havre de Grace, 2013-09-17
Captain: , Sandwich (692)

Dock hand and office friendly and courteous. Marina walking distance to downtown. HDG has limited restaurants and not much in way of good shopping. The waterfront park is lovely. Bath showers clean and private. Gas was $3.84/gal. Great for an overnight.

Love Havre de Grace, 2013-08-26
Captain: , Kent Narrows, MD (20)

Stayed here on a mooring, nice folks, beautiful setting, adorable town. Can't wait to come back and spend more time.

second visit. 7/13/2013, 2013-07-22
Captain: , Kingman Yacht Center Cataumet, MA (223)

Narrow fairways, but good docks and well protected. Nice bath/shower facilities. Loaner car for groceries/laundry. Good walking town, nice shops. Lock keepers house and old lock on display. Vincenti's decoy store a must stop.

Well Worth A Stop, 2013-06-20
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (842)

On our 2-day stay in June 2013, the bath facilities (6 individual restrooms with showers) were well equipped and clean. Wifi is not secure, according to the info from the marina, but that is true in most marinas. The old city center and neighborhoods of Havre de Grace have considerable charm. Much commercial stuff is out along Rt 40, a mile or two from the marina. Using the marina's loaner car, we were able to do laundry, visit a full-sized grocery store, fill a propane tank, findneeded filters and fan belt, all available fairly nearby, unlike many isolated ICW marinas. Weis, the larger local grocery, is 1.5 miles away.
We considered the 10 mile run up to Harve de Grace well worth it.

Mooring Ball, 2012-10-17
Captain: , Michigan City (349)

We took a mooring on 8/30/12 from Tidewater Marina. Although reported to have good showers and bath, they had no arrangements to land your dingy to use them. Even going to the office to register, we were told we had to tie up in the corner of the gas dock rather than use a lower floating dock along the launch ramp. When we tried to go ashore to town, we were not allowed to use a floating dock that had plenty of room, but had to tie up at the rear of a slip and climb up a slimy ladder. Not a very friendly spot for the mooring we paid for or trying to anchor. Ashore, the downtown had little to choose from, although the Tidewater Grill had a nice deck overlooking the water. The highlight of our evening was to go back to the boat and watch the Thursday night races as they tacked around our moored boats. The Tydings Memorial Park has a nice boardwalk with information about the local habitat.

Tidewater Havre de Grace, 2012-08-06
Captain: , annapolis (391)

Well-run, capable personnel. Bathrooms clean and there are 6 of them. Store on site. Loaner car available. Free wifi not secure (you are warned of this when logging on.) Radio reception (FM-PBS stations) poor. Cellphone reception (ATT and Verizon) very strong. Town has many attractions, restaurants, walking trails, library. Only source of groceries within walking distance are 3 convenience stores.

First Class Service and Facility, 2012-05-30
Captain: , Jersey City (506)

Brought my Hunter 466 to Tidewater in Oct for needed repairs and to spend the winter in their yard. They were great to work with, explaining everything in detail and discussing various repair options with me. They always kept me informed of progress of the work and contacted me immediately when new things were discovered (new things are always discovered).

The marina store has all the essentials and West Marine is a short drive away. The staff drove me to and from the Budget Car rental in Aberdeen.

There are several great restaurants in the area (Macgregors and Tidewater Grill are my favorites).

The marina is dog friendly.

Good Marina and Town, 2012-05-14
Captain: , Detroit (647)

The marina is tight for larger boats but we had no problem docking on the T-head with our 52 ft trawler. Very friendly and efficient staff. Nice showers and best of all a free courtesy van. With the Save-A-Lot having moved out by West Marine, this really made it easy to get our supplies

Nice town - ok Marina, 2011-09-17
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (1135)

The entrance is very narrow. We were the largest boat here and getting in wasn't easy. There is one T-Head that fit us. The dockhand was helpful with lines and got us tied up fast. Nice town, lots of antique shops and restuarants.

Excellent Staff, 2011-07-13
Captain: , Middle River, MD (50)

Definitely the nicest marina we saw in Havre de Grace. Not exactly a garden location, but the very friendly and helpful staff more than made up for that. Entry was a little tight as reported by other captains, but certainly workable and depth not a problem. Very dog-friendly.

Easy walk to town and to the park & lighthouse, but sadly the grocery store that was around the corner from the marina has closed... nearest groceries / package store is a drive.

Good place to stop, 2011-07-11
Captain: , Clear Lake, TX (694)

A nice stop. Approach channel was narrow but wide enough for 2 boats and no problem for my 4 1/2 ft draft. Dock hands met us and helped docking procedure. Helpful people at Marina, nice heads and Ship's store.
Close walk to a little down.

Nice and relaxing, 2011-07-09
Captain: , Stafford, VA (1063)

Outstanding showers, great view of the bay, and right in town with several good restaurants an easy walk away. The staff was very helpful. I'd rate this marina one of the best on the bay.

Great Staff, 2011-04-11
Captain: , Port Deposit, MD (302)

I had my boat wintered for 2009/2010 season and kept her there for 2010 season. All the staff is very helpful.

Nice Marina and Town, 2011-02-12
Captain: , Sasafras River, Cheasapeake Bay (206)

I kept a boat here for years. They have sailboat races on Thursday nights. The marina does real nice fiberglass work and there service department is good.
Last time I was there the marine store had closed.
They have a Hunter dealer on the premises.

Nice marina -- ok town, 2010-11-26
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

Tight channel to get into town. The marina was very nice -- with very nice staff. The town was little run down.

Tidewater Marina and Havre de Grace, 2010-08-10
Captain: , Annapolis (1465)

Very friendly marina staff; short walk to town. We had a fabulous dinner at the Laurrapin Grille!

Not sure what the ship's store use to be but it has just about everything you could need.

Fuel dock is clean and has easy access, restaurant is great, 2010-08-02
Captain: , Cornwall PA (421)

The Tidewater grill is the first restaurant we ever boated into, and it was worth the trip! Not a lot of restaurant dockage, but easy to access. Meals and service were very good.
The marina has a great, easy to access fuel dock and the staff were fast and attentive.

Nice small boat marina., 2009-08-27
Captain: , Washington, DC (447)

I concur with comments below, funky, but pleasant, town. Tidewater Restarant was good. Entrance and docking for bigger boats is tight.

Well worth the visit, 2009-07-18
Captain: , san diego (30)

Very nice marina. Staff could not be more helpful. Good food recommendations. Excellent, air conditioned bathrooms. Grounds are beautifully maintained. Town is fun. Lots of gnats here for some reason. Will be back.

Excellent service, 2009-07-02
Captain: , Bermuda (219)

We stayed here for a week in June 09 and then left the boat there for work to be done. The service is outstanding. Havre de Grace is a funky little town with a couple of good restaurants and interesting stores.

SHIPS STORE as of july 08, 2008-07-13
Captain: , bohemia bay (12)

The ships store is no longer what it has moved to the gas dock store and has a very limited selection.

Excellent service,friendly staff, 2008-01-23
Captain: , Plattsburg,NY (333)

I bought my boat from this marina. All my dealings with everyone from the broker to the yard mechanic and office staff were great. Everyone there has a can do and happy to help attitude. The boat store is fully stocked and the staff are well versed with all the products they sell. I have been boating on the east coat from NY to Florida all my life and I can say without reservation this is the best marina to deal with.

Ships store, 2007-09-13
Captain: , Somers Point, NJ (21)

Finest ships store I have ever been in. With the breadth of selection they have, I am amazed that their prices are competitive with West Marine.

Chandlery Prices, 2007-06-14
Captain: , Havre De Grace (111)

The chandlery at Tidewater has the best prices. They will beat West Marine, and any other chandlery, advertised price. Just ask Buddy. They have alot of what you wamt or need, and can order just about anything else.
