Reviews for The Old Salty Dog Restaurant
Great Location for Good Food, 2015-09-10
Captain: , Sarasota, FL (61)

This location is excellent for the view, the boiled shrimp and a cold beer on a warm afternoon. Laid back and friendly.

Staple of Sarasota, 2014-09-01
Captain: , Oriental,NC (327)

Excellent place to tie up or go to for a cold beer and a bite of seafood. Or try the "Salty Dog", their version of a beer battered corn dog. Excellent views of the Longboat Key Bridge. Can't beat it.

Food with easy access, 2014-07-21
Captain: , Lido Key (30)

Short sail from SSS. Just before bridge. Easy docking. There is a second resturant just west of the Dog with easy beacing.

YUM YUM YUM, 2013-10-23
Captain: , Sarasota (195)

Love the Maui Wowi Burger

Disappointed in the food, 2013-06-22
Captain: , currently Plantation Yacht Harbor, Islamorada, Fla. Keys (4419)

After looking at the previous revies, we said, "this is our kind of place" and location and atmostphere are as reported. But, that wasn't enough to overcome the bland food we were served - and the place was crowded when we were there, so no excuses! Better food, although not as nice a facility is next door at the New Pass Grill and Bait Shop.

Great view, typical fried fare, three very exposed slips, 2012-11-26
Captain: , Sarasota, Fl (168)

A fun tourist spot on a quiet weekday with a fantastic view that can be total mayhem on weekends. Beer in a plastic cup while sitting in a plastic chair with a fried everything menu is not 5 star. The Chart House happy hour across the bridge is 5 star(although they have no slips there is a sandy beach to dinghy in).

Great views, good food, 2011-08-30
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (250)

The Salty Dog's best feature is it's location... with indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the pass. Food, as said before, is typical "pub" food served simple. The kids love that their meals are served on frisbees that they get to keep.

Great Waterside Pub, 2011-07-08
Captain: , Winter Park, FL (10)

This is good pub food in a great location. Look for additional docking on the east end of the MarineMax fuel docks.

Awesome Restaurant with dockage, 2011-01-26
Captain: , Clearwater (326)

We love the Old Salty Dog. Great simple food, wonderful staff, easy to access free dockage and dog dining friendly. Can get busy on summer weekends with both land and water traffic so arrive early or late for the best chance of dockage.

A resident's view, 2010-08-16

We eat here often. It's basic, but you can't improve on the view, or its availability to boaters.
