Reviews for The Calvert Marine Museum
very good museum, with dinghy dock, 2017-06-26
Captain: , Palm Bay, FL (150)

The museum is top notch, it had tons of information, as well as some interactive displays, and animals that kept my 3 year old engaged. it is pretty cheap too. they have a dinghy dock that you can use with admission to the museum, and you can come and go through the day. we walked down to a nice restaurant for lunch and then finished up the exhibits. it is well worth the cost.

Always interesting, 2016-07-13

I'm not an overly enthusiastic museum visitor - except with this museum. I have been to the museum many times and I always find it interesting. It's a museum that can keep all ages entertained. Very impressive county museuem.

More than just maritime history!, 2014-10-19

If you've already been to St Michael's or other maritime museums on the bay, don't dismiss this one thinking you've already been there, done that. Yes, this is a wonderful maritime museum, but the displays on Chesapeake flora/fauna are excellent, with aquarium tanks of various ecosystems and both native and invasive species. And the archeological exhibit, based on excavations from nearby Calvert Cliffs, is also well done. Dinghy in, floating dock is on the right.

A fascinating and fun museum, 2014-07-29

This was the best museum we have ever visited on the Chesapeake Bay. There was something for everyone - educational displays on fishing, fun displays of old powerboats, even live marine archeology going on. You could spend a whole day here and not be bored at all. We wish we lived in the area so we could volunteer at the museum.

It's a destination, and well worth going to Solomons just for the museum. Don't miss it!

Excellent museum. Well worth the effort to go to this. Very educational.

Nice facility, 2013-06-24

We spend a couple hours here because we were planning to head over the Little Choptank (to the NE), but winds were gusting to 20 from the NE...and we don't like motoring or spending all day beating. Good choice to just sit tight and tour the town. Museum was very informative and quality displays...lighthouse tour was nice. They let us dock our dinghy there, and also didn't seem to mind that we left it there while we strolled arond town for an hour (we were the only dinghy docked there). Then hit the showers at Holiday Inn, had dinner, and made preps for the next day north!

Loved The Displays, 2012-10-01

I enjoyed visiting the exhibits and especially enjoyed visiting the packing house and the seeing the photographs when it was in operation.

Don't miss this...., 2012-04-22

GREAT museum of local Chesapeake Bay history, including the fully resored Drum Point lighthouse. I will go back every time we are in Solomans.

A Must See, 2011-04-19

The museum alone was worth the trip to Solomans. Interesting light house, wonderful models, antique engines, old boats, live fish, fossils, helpful staff. Fun and educational. Do plan on spending a good amount of time.

You really should go here. Plan at least a half day, and check at the front desk for daily activities. Don't miss the otters or the antique outboard motor display.
