Great people who care!!!, 2013-07-28
Captain: , Pasadena (10)

Pam and Gerald are great to work with, both will go out of their way to help solve any problem and get you back on the water. No high pressure sales, no "line my pockets" BS ! They genuinely care for their customers. Everyone we talked to while there at their yard AND several people out in the town ALL had nothing but praise for them, And I have to agree. Also, Prices are reasonable.

Great Owners Who Care, 2013-07-01
Captain: , Sault Ste Marie, MI (240)

Pam and Gerald are the best on so many counts. I admire their work ethic, their effectiveness, their willingness to help and their patience with novice boat owners (me). All work they performed was top notch, and they hooked me up with a welder and a locksmith to solve a couple of issues. This is a great business worthy of your business.

Great outfit, 2013-06-21
Captain: , Houston (30)

We bent a prop in the ICW just south of Boatyard at Hampstead. They hauled and had us back in the water in less than 48 hours. Gerald and Pam could not have been more helpful. Reasonable charges. Nice people. Highly recommend.

Captain: , Channel Islands Harbor (11)

my little catalina 30 was on the hard for nearly 7 weeks while i completed repairs from basic maintenance to not so basic. i am not an old salty sailor, i just enjoy working on my own projects and at my own speed. Gerald, Pam and Johnnie were there every step of the way providing guidence if needed. they also had skilled contractors at their fingertips that provided valuable resources in a timely fashion, that were reasonably priced. do not hesitate to for one moment to haul out with them. it is obvious that they take pride in what they do and it shows every step of the way.

VERY NICE PEOPLE, 2013-05-03

These folks are the real deal, 2013-04-30
Captain: , Galesville, MD (481)

We broke down in the middle of the ICW. Called the office and they made suggestions to help us get the boat going again. Mechanic arrived as promised. Found the cause of our trouble and found a problem that could have been a disaster in the future.

Great Customer Service, 2013-01-22
Captain: , New Bern, NC (64)

Gerald and Pam go the extra mile for their customers. Great service once again.

This yard is good for the soul!, 2012-12-11
Captain: , Brightlingsea, UK (202)

You can potter about on your boat at your own speed but help, knowledge and advice is always to hand. Gerald and Pam and Johnnie couldn't be nicer folk to work with. You need a part? It's there the next working day if it can be found. You need a skilled trade? There is someone local from turning to canvas work. The full set. And if things get too much for you there is always Cpt. Stumpy to make you smile.

I bought a sailboat there, 2012-12-03
Captain: , british virgin island (20)

I bought a 65 foot sailboat from pam and gerald and started the restauration. I only can say we became friends after some time and it is a pleasure to work with them. I will spend a lot of time in the next year in this yard till the work will be done and I am sure thanks to them it will be a very pleasant experience. The yard has a wonderfull location to make the work easy. There is Loews and a very good supermarket in 5 min drive distance. Not far 10 min is a big metal shop. A welder -alu/stainless 5 min away.
On the end of the road is a very nice couple on the iwc selling fresh fish and wonderfull fesh scrimps. I have to say the people in NC are exeptionel friendly and I am looking forward to spend some more time there.

The Best!!!, 2012-11-06
Captain: , Huron Ohio (608)

On 11/1, while headed south, Betty's single engine trawler experienced a leaking cap on the heat exchanger. We were past the Surf City Bridge and on our way to Wrightsville Beach. We put into the anchorage at Top Sail (ICW marker R86). We could not launch the dinghy and needed assistance from shore. The Boatyard at Hampstead was just across the ICW and offered to help us track down a spare part. Gerald launched his boat, personally came out to us, took our failed cap and drove to three different stores to find a suitable replacement. He and Pam assured us they would not leave us in the lurch, and indeed they went out of their way on a busy Friday to get us running and back on the ICW. Gerald called shortly after we left and again two days later to be sure our leak was fixed. Very professional, very caring and a great customer experience.

Honest and Fair, 2012-07-01
Captain: , Topsail Beach, NC (480)

We have had our 36' power cat hauled here several times and they are great to work with. Always responsive to customer needs. Prices are very fair....much cheaper than most but top quality work. As a result, they stay very busy, so plan ahead if possible. Gerald and Pam and Johnny are real pros, great to work with. Be sure to meet Capt. Stumpy!!

Kissed a Rock, 2012-06-05
Captain: , Grand Haven (470)

We have a 37 foot Eggharbor that found something very hard at the bottom of the ICW. Gerald and Pam had our boat on the hard with the prop pulled and on the way into town for a prop scan in less than 3 hours after we arrived. This team is very helpful and easy to work with.

Satisfied 100%, 2012-04-11
Captain: , Lake Ariel, PA (184)

We left our trawler here for the winter with a list of maintenance items. Pam and Gerald were great to work with and understood what needed to be done. They stayed in contact throughout and everything was as promised for the quoted prices. I would recommend Hampstead without hesitation.

safe and secure yard, 2012-03-05
Captain: , Topsail Island, NC (10)

Took Living Water to have bottom paint, however Gerald found blisters which as boaters know that is not what you want to hear at all. Gerald took control and completly refinished the bottom, including thru hulls. Replaced heads and repaired many small repairs, on items down the road that could have been very costly to us. Prepared a maintence schedule for us to follow that would prevent many costs in the future.

Great People to deal with, 2011-12-14
Captain: , Wilmington, NC (10)

Pam & Gerald are very easy to deal with and have a solution oriented approach to helping with others needs. They go the extra mile to ensure that your needs are met. I will be using them anytime I need a haul.

Finally a boatyard that takes care of their customers, 2011-11-16
Captain: , Beaufort, NC (20)

We have cruised many a mile as well as delivered vessels from FL up to MD and have yet to find a Boatyard who will take the time, or even come to help after hours or weekends, and actually does everything they say they will do and do it right the first time. I have reccomended this facility to several transits who were in need of assistance or emergency repairs and Pam and Gerald Foy were always ready to help. A true pleasure to work with. Thanks for your assistance and diligence!

PS, Don't forget to bring Captain Stumpy as few pecans when visiting.

Great place for a haulout, 2011-11-02
Captain: , Carolina Beach, NC (391)

Hauled our 20 ft wide catmaran in June. Gerald and Johnny were very careful as we really filled the well. Gerald and Pam Foy really work for you. Pam got us the best prices on bottom paint and anchor chain. They are honest, do what they say and treat you the best. A great place and will definitily go back!

The People make the Yard, 2011-07-27
Captain: , Bald Head Island,NC (10)

If you are looking for skilled, good honest people, working hard and at a fair price then this is the yard for you. Hauling boats, bottom work, engine maintanence and electronic installations are just a few of the jobs i have have done, and done well.

And while the haulout slip is located right on the ICW, the yard goes way back and up elevation to provide very good protection from hurricances and other nasties.

In this day of large corporate owned yards and less then wonderful experiences at some places, you can't do better then with Pam and Gerald Foy.

I'll be back--, 2011-07-18
Captain: , Topsail Beach NC (40)

Gerald and Pam Foy operate a first class boatyard. The focus on quality at a reasonable price is evident from the first few minutes you talk with either of them.

JaVA is a 1963 Morgan Tiger Cub that needed TLC. Painted all over (inside and out), brite work varnished, a few repairs to the teak rubrail, delaminated area at the bottom of the keel, and some electrical work later, the boat looks and sails like a 2011 version of the orginal.

In over 45 years of owning boats, the quality of work, thoroughness, communication and honesty I experienced exceeds that of any boatyard or repair shop I have done business with in the past.

The owners and employees at The Boatyard at Hampstead cared about and worked on my boat as if it was theirs. I've sent boatowner friends over already and will refer more, because I have no doubt about the service and quality work that will be delivered.

Best Marina In Area, 2011-06-15
Captain: , Hampstead, NC (15)

Have had experience with many marina's, but Gerald and Pam are the best. They do what they say they are going to and do it at a great price. Hard working folks that are working to earn your business.

good honest repairs and service-very capable owners, 2011-06-09
Captain: , sneads ferry,nc (10)

The owners will treat you fairly, and you can depend on them to work hard to meet your schedule . They do their best to stick to their estimates. The are very knowledgable about marine repairs.

Simrad Electronics Install, 2011-05-27
Captain: , Wrightsville Beach (10)

I recently had a laundry list of items to perform on my Blackfin. I can tell you my experience at Hampstead Boatyard was great! The pricing for the haulout was very reasonable and I had ample time to complete my own tasks on the boat while the new Simrad system and two new transducers were being installed. Gerald, Pam, and Johnny are all great to work with and you will be pleased. Johnny did a fantastic job on reglassing the hull where the old transducers were located and the new ducers look great.

I have to say, Captain Stumpy was also the most Professional squirrel I have ever seen...a real plus to the experience. Thanks to Capt. Stumpy and the Crew!!

Good Fishing,

Remember the good old days, 2011-05-08
Captain: , wilmington nc (10)

This is one of only a handfull of boatyards left along the coast in NC that allows you to do your own work. You are not forced to use a boatyard's crew and pay their labor prices. Pretty hard to find nowadays. And the bonus is that it is right on the waterway. No need to go up a river for miles and miles. However, this is also a full service yard with excellent staff, just in case you are not into doing the dirty work yourself.

Very convenient to get to by auto from both Wilmington and Jacksonville.

Easy haul-out, located right on the Waterway in Hampstead, just south of Surf City and Topsail Island. Reasonably priced. Knowledgeable management.

Remember the "good old days" with the old fashioned boatyards where the enitre famitly comes out to help? This is it. They've even held weekend barbeques and invited everyone. They take the time to learn your name, not your account number.

Excellent Boatyard, 2011-04-30
Captain: , wilmington,nc (10)

My wife and I give this yard a five star rating. We have been sailing and have owned various boats for over 40 plus years and can say without hesitation this is one of the best boatyards we have ever used. The yard is operated by two of the friendliest and honest people we have ever come across in any boatyard operation. Although the yard lacks in personal facilities (showers, etc.) it more than makes up for this in personal attention from the yard operator, Pam and Gerald Foy and their right hand man John.

The yard can haul up to 70 tons power or sail.

To belay any confusion an explanation is necessary as there are two boatyards on the same property that is owned by the Lewis Family; a well regarded (saltwater) family that has owned this land (and shrimp boats) for decades.

At this time The Boatyard at Hampstead shares the haul-out well with the other boatyard that fronts the water. They do however have separate travel lifts.

The Boatyard at Hampstead is in back of the other facility but this is a good thing as you are protected from any storm surge or high winds that come in from the coast.

The Boatyard at Hampstead allows you to do your own work or they can arrange for any necessary repairs to your vessel. The Boatyard monitors channel 16/working 68 in case of emergency.

Fellow boaters know exactly what we mean when we say it%u2019s the honesty, integrity and friendliness of the people who operate the boatyard that makes a difference.

Give this yard a go, you will not be disappointed.
