Reviews for Georgetown Dry Stack Marina
Easy in/out, short walk to town, 2017-04-26
Captain: , Port Aransas, TX (1453)

Stayed 4/19. Very helpful staff, docks in rough shape but servicable, didn't get code for restrooms, easy walk to nice "old town" - several restaurants and shops, nearby historic homes.

Nice, quiet dock - helpful staff, 2014-04-25
Captain: , Poughkeepsie, NY (6077)

They reserve the floating, wooded fuel dock for transients. It's parallel to the current so it's easy to enter and leave. We didn't use the bathrooms or showers so we cannot comment on those.

The face dock is also the fuel dock so you can take on fuel without having to move for the night. They are under new management but it's the same helpful crew, nice people.

The town is the real attraction, be sure to take a stroll through. Don't miss the fresh fish market, you'll pass the signs on the way to town.

Good value dock, 2014-01-04
Captain: , Stuart FL (835)

We have stayed here on a number of occassions. Staff always friendly, helpful and knowledgable. There is no pumpout or laundry but if you want a place at a moderate rate ($1.5 including) fairly close to downtown then this is it.

Service can't be beat, 2013-05-29
Captain: , Wilmington, DE (780)

the service here is fantastic. Garrett offered to stay after closing to help us in, and was very helpful in docking and locating some fuses for us (he even went to get them!). the marina is clean, and it lookslike improvements are steadily being made. bathrooms are serviceable, and the location is quiet and close to town. we'll be back.

Easy stop, decent price, 2013-05-03
Captain: , Cape Coral FL (4188)

Easy transient stop. Great protection from NE wind. As the other reviewer said, they put transients ont the face dock side to the floating dock. Very nice polite young men who work here. Three guys came out to meet us and help tie up. BUT - before getting here I called on the phone and was told they close at 6pm. Got here 5pm, tied up and hosed the boat down. Paid in the office. Then got to my computer and saw they had WiFi. Was never told about it. You need a password. So at 5:30pm I called the office. No answer. I walked up there. IT WAS CLOSED ! Had to use the open WiFi of the marina next door. No washing facilties here. They tell you that you can walk to the marina next door to do laundry. IMO, should be priced at $1/ft instead of $1.50.

WE Always Stay Here, 2013-03-01
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

Other reviews are accurate. For the money, it is the best place in town to stay, given location.... Marina under new ownership. Met new owner - is not changing the place. New name is Georgetown Dry Stack Marina. New # is 843/546-1700

Like a commercial Dock, 2012-11-28
Captain: , Hamilton, Ontario, Canada (366)

Friendly and helpful staff. Secure barebones marina.

Helpful staff, convenient location, lousy showers., 2012-11-18
Captain: , Galesville, MD (246)

Men's bathroom was not very warm (gas heater was out of order) and hot water was lukewarm but not hot enough for a good shower.

Outboard Repairs, 2012-11-16
Captain: , Mobjack Bay (10)

Let me start by saying that I did not stay here overnight, but I came to see about getting my small dinghy outboard fixed. I called ahead to let them know I was coming, and told them the type, size, year, etc. They told me to row it into the dock so they could have a look. When I got there, I waited around 20 minutes, and when the mechanic came down, he told me, after examining the motor for all of 5 seconds, that it was too old and small, and it wasn't worth his time to fix. This is after he told me to bring the motor in, and already knew how old and small it was. I then asked him if he had any new small outboard motors in stock, and he told me that there were none in my price range (which he didn't even ask about). Needless to say, I took my 1,000 dollars somewhere else to buy a new outboard.

Convenient to Town, 2012-11-03
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (907)

The rate was $1.50/ft on Nov. 3rd 2012, plus $5 for 30A electric. We were put on the face dock, no any boats in when we stopped. Good help getting set, helpful staff but not a fancy marina. Bathrooms functional. Very convenient to a handsome old downtown area. Worth a stop.

Great little spot, 2012-11-01
Captain: , Southport, NC (716)

We stayed two nights at Boat Shed and was impressed how quite and convienent to the town. Tom, the dockmaster was very helpful and friendly. The ships store has many needed items. Restrooms are clean and close by. Internet coverage was full strength. Kinda expensive, but thats the going rate in Georgetown. It's a small dock so it'll only hold a few boats so call ahead. I'm glad Tom squeezed us in, it was a good stay.

Nice marina - friendly and helpful staff!, 2012-10-25
Captain: , Mystic, CT (270)

Stayed here a few times, most recently October 2012 and we've always had a nice stay. The staff is excellent! The bathrooms are outdated and there's not a lot of hot water. Hopefully they will fix that. Short walk into a pretty little town with a lot of great restaurants.

Great Location, 2012-03-19
Captain: , Solomons, MD (464)

Close to downtown. Marina clean well equiped and the staff helpful. They will stay late if needed. Great protected location. Nice people, would come back anytime. Good free WIFI. Very responsive to telephone and VHF

One night stand, 2012-01-16
Captain: , New Bern, NC (466)

They helped with docking but this is a working yard and not a resort. Showers were "industrial" and I couldn't get the heater to work. Propane was 11 blocks away, but banks and stores near by. Lots of noise from the near by industry.

A Good Stopover, 2011-11-20
Captain: , Stuart, FL (1019)

Came in at dark but the dockhand waited to help us tie up. Decent docks; secure location; good price. Got a cab to Piggly Wiggly for groceries. Left at dawn so can't add comment on facilities but it is inexpensive and clean. Would definitely stay again.

Good value, 2011-11-11
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (1344)

We stayed here because Harborwalk, closer to town, had no room for us. It wasn't a bad experience.

What's to like about The Boat Shed Marina?
--Low price per-foot price
--Electric (good 50A 240V) included in the price
--Floating docks, mostly parallel to the current
--Easy two-block walk to downtown
--Very good for walking our dog
--Responsive on the phone and radio
--Good line handers

What's not?
--Not many transient slips
--Piers are old and splintery
--Mostly a high-n-dry, with marina more an afterthought
--They moved us a few feet forward/aft twice in a 3-day stay

Nice stop - more economical than fancy place, 2011-11-03
Captain: , Sarasota (1427)

Very reasonable cost (after 5 days, fee is $24/day). Electricity included. Decent chandlery for basic items. Close to downtown. The Rice Paddy is a fine restaurant. There is also a gelateria in town.

bathrooms terrible, 2011-02-05
Captain: , Cape May, NJ (87)

If you doon't need bathroms for your stay this marina would be fine. Staff friendly and accomondating Shower drain clogged causing you to stand in ankle deep water. Heaters in bathroom don't work. toilet recently cleaned but not with alot of attention to detail.

Secure marina with older bathrooms no a/c, 2010-06-29
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

Good stop in Georgetown two blocks from downtown. Bathrooms are marginal without a/c.

A nice stop for Georgetown, 2010-05-14
Captain: , Red Wing, MN (384)

Just spent a two night stay and found this to be a nice marina to visit Georgetown. About 4 blocks to the downtown area and more importantly 6 blocks to Kudzu Bakery. Worth the bike ride! Rice museum was a nice stop and the folks try hard to make your visit there very informative. Marina is small and main business is the drystack, but every employee was always tuned in to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay.

Great People & Nice Stop, 2009-11-11
Captain: , St Louis (671)

As previously said, the folks here are very nice. Easy walk to downtown, very resonable rates and after 3 days it is $25/day. Will stop here again!

Nice people, 2009-11-10
Captain: , Fort Myers (769)

This is an excellent marina. Great staff and wonderful facilities. Watch for swift current if arriving or departing as they pack you in pretty tightly on the face dock. Additionally, this is a working yard and the sounds of power tools running starts around 7:30 and goes till 5 pm. At 1.50 a foot, it is definitely worth the stop to enjoy this wonderful little town.

Good Deal, 2009-05-28
Captain: , Key Largo (5457)

@ $1.40 a foot, no electric charge, Free Wifi and Water,,wow! Nice floating docks, walkable to everything, (small town) and the grocery store will pick you up!
I will be back!!

Boat Shed Marina, 2009-03-22
Captain: , Whitehall, Mi (1754)

Small but friendly. Much closer to downtown than Georgetown Landing.

Boat Shed, 2008-10-16
Captain: , Charleston (105)

Did not stay here but walked over from Hazzard to explore and buy ice. Agree with other comments.

Captain: , Hollywood, MD (142)

Not a lot of space but a nice marina with friendly/helpful staff. We are used to docking in the "north forty" but here we were very close to the facilities. Cable/Wifi/Showres. Restrooms/showers not fancy but clean.

The Boat Shed and Marina, Georgetown SC, 2008-05-17
Captain: , Patrick AFB Florida (1254)

Great stopping place with a very friendly staff; basic facilities are extremely clean and well-maintained. Town is a short 2-3 blocks away. Hardware store with a fair selection of marine-related products is about 1/4 mile up St. James Street then right on Rte 17 for a couple of blocks. A friendly, small town with some great restaurants and limited shopping close at hand.
