Reviews for Texada Boating Club
Functional Marina, 2016-05-28
Captain: , Salt Spring Is, BC (50)

Two nights here because of forecast strong SE winds. Tucked into the inside of the docks against the shore, and quite comfortable. Daily C$0.70 per foot, plus C$5.00 for power; cash only. Bob, the Wharfinger, is friendly and knowledgable.
The hotel burned two days ago, and the pub is closed. The owner's plans are for the future are not known just yet.

Stopped here on July 18, 2015. Just as described by previous reviewers. A little rustic but kind of funky. Moorage was $.70 a foot plus $5.00 for 15amp electricity. Be advised that fees are 'cash only'. They don't do credit cards. I'd come back again ... but not every year.

If you can find space in the small marina, the people are very accomodating It's a tiny town in a rural setting. The marina is a welcome respite after crossing from Okisolo or coming up Malaspina Strait from the south. It's easier to enter in a blow versus Grief Point.

A quiet place, 2011-02-12

We come here often as it is close to home. We say it's an hour away, but 25 years back in time. Things are a bit slower here, even by BC coast standards. We go mainly to socialize with others who are there or as a shakedown cruise to see what we forgot to pack for a longer cruise. We've met many people who come for the night and end up for several days. Most of the things you may need are within a kilometer or so. If you need to go further, we've had offers of car loans or offered rides. Great place to have a bicycle.

The wharfingers, Ted and Barb are great fun, and have loads of information about the island. The docks are a bit rustic, as are many of the boats. It does get lumpy in a SE.

The kids love to kayak, sail and dinghy about the bay. There is an interesting swimming hole in a quarry not too far away.

All in all, a good stop to relax.

Although reputed to be bouncy in SE winds, this is an otherwise welcome place to duck out of the sometimes rotten conditions outside. I've now found refuge here three times and each time have found the locals to be friendly, helpful and accomodating. The facilities aren't first rate, but they are more than adequate and the attitude of the club members and others more than make up for any possible shortcomings. Be sure to walk around the village, and ask about the current specials for dinner at the Legion and other venues. It's a good stop even when the weather is good!
