Reviews for Tenakee Springs

Delightful little town. Homes well kept and interesting. People (including the harbormaster) friendly and helpful. The bakery/restaurant/art gallery has good food and friendly owners and customers. The hot springs are more of a community center than a tourist attraction. They are nicely done, and it is interesting to soak there with the locals. Clothing is not optional, it is forbidden, and different genders are allotted different times.
The transient dock can get a bit lumpy in the afternoon winds.

Interesting spot, 2015-07-27

The harbormaster is a bit grumpy and not very helpful, but the town is nice. Don't miss the bakery and their cinnamon rolls (they close at 2, but are open again at 8am), and also don't miss the little grocery store next to the hot springs. They have the most wonderful collection of little gourmet items.
The bath facilites are by gender and time - not as private and flexible as at Baranof Warm Springs.

Wonderful little town, 2015-07-03

Good marina for such a small village. The town is very pretty and well-maintained. It's definately worth a stop on your way up or down Chatham Strait.

Very friendly people. A wild Alaskan town and very down to earth. But if you come here for the hot springs you will be disappointed. This is not a destination that is a must see. If you are in the area, then it's a fun stop, but as far as Alaskan wilderness towns rate, this is close to the bottom. With that said, the locals are extremely accomodating and friendly.

Tenakee Springs - You gotta go there, 2011-06-27
Captain: , Seattle, WA (312)

This place is full of the most wonderful people. Spend an evening in the Blue Moon Cafe run by Rosie. Rosie will keep the beers coming and you will talk to everybody else in the room. You'll meet Russian loggers, native fishermen, and other natives. There is a warm springs bath house in the center. Super fun stop.
