SEEN BETTER DAYS, 2015-07-10
Captain: , Nyack, NY (556)

On return to our home waters after our southern migration we planned to fuel up here. With no radio response we phoned the posted # and got a message to phone the dock master. the dock master, Teddy had a message to leave a text, as he is too busy to answer the phone. my text was "ARE YOU OPEN" as we are approaching the bridge. ten minutes later, the response was, "WHAT FOR?" I answered, "DEISEL." At this point, we were stuck in the mud in the channel three hundred feet from the fuel dock. Finally by phone he says, "Oh, that's you. there's two feet of water at the fuel dock." on an outgoing tide we were lucky to escape. Hurricane Sandy has dealt this facility a blow from which they have failed to recover. DO NOT APPROACH UNTIL HAVE MADE AFFIRMATIVE CONTACT. Giving two stars, as there is fuel and pump out if you can get in, and the village is charming.

Hurricane ravaged this one badly- better choices out there, 2014-10-08

Not what we expected but we should've called ahead. Docks are old and rickety and it gets shallow in there. We had a much better time at a marina a little further north of here in Croton on Hudson. Train access was much easier from Croton as well. Both of our 30 amp cords got burned up in the tarrytown marina and we weren't pulling much draw either.

All the basics are here, very nostalgic, 2014-07-23

I've been a member with my boat for 2 years. Tarrytown Marina is a historic landmark, as one of the oldest yacht basins in the country (think Rockefellers, etc.). It's a little run down (true grit and character), but very clean and everything works - including gas, pumpout, electric, water and the bathrooms and showers are imaculate. Unfortunately, the Striped Bass restaurant closed after suffering a lot of Hurricane Sandy damage, and there are plans to rebuild a better place to open next year. There is dining nearby at Husdon Harbor and Sunset Cove, and lots of great shops up the hill in the village. Very convenient trains to NYC are right across the parking lot.

Sad to see a Marine Facility fall apart like this, but Terrytown Marina is just about done. When I talked to the Dockmaster, he wasn't even sure they would open until mid-June this year. Hurricane Sandy wrecked havoc on this place, and between the lack of funds, and government pressure to reduce boater caused damage to the Hudson River, this place is getting the shaft. The fuel pumps are nice being 24 hr self-serve, but thats where nice ends here.

pleasant stop over, 2013-10-25

Tarrytown turned out to be better than we expected. The docks our two boats were on were clean; pump out which is free is easy access and the rest rooms were immaculate! Dock master tells it like it is - just don't take it personally! Easy walk into town which is a very laid back community with good eateries. Would stop here again.

can they owe me a star?, 2013-08-19
Captain: , staten island (511)

on entry i was kicking up silt reading less than 3ft at gas dock, nice kids workin pumps however young girl dropped somethng in water btwn dock and my boat and she reached in to grab it and almost crushed her hand ,the marina is in horrible shape ,being from staten island i thought sandy ravaged the place when i asked i was told the resturant was damaged but the marina suffered minor dock damages...... so i say this spot was a dump, sorry i stopped for fuel

Still open, 2013-05-24
Captain: , Kitchener (140)

Restaurant closed, marina is run down but owner was helpfull and friendly. We ordered in Chinese and sat out a storm here May 2013.

Not what we expected, 2013-03-17
Captain: , North Palm Beach Marina, FL (43)

Not the friendliest bunch once we arrived whatsoever. Some nice boaters there, but very shallow drafts and nothing seems to be well cared for. Duck and geese droppings everywhere, and power was so poor and fluctuating that we had to leave. ( no refund was allowed) We figured we could catch a train to NY, but trains now run only every hour. Ended up going a little further north. Visiting boater next to us at Tarrytown was stranded after running aground and was angrily waiting on a house mechanic who was already a few days late. Boaters beware

Stayed at Tarrytown Marina last fall - First off, as many others have since shared with me, they hardly respond to VHF. I had to use our cell phone, and try them for over 2 hours in order to reach someone. No help on docking either. As previous commentor has mentioned, there was mounds of geese crap all over the docks. Really made a mess of our boat as it was impossible not to step in it. The dockmaster was far from friendly. There are much better alternatives a tiny bit north of here. Will stay in Croton on Hudson,NY next time we take the trip for sure.

Inconceivable, 2011-07-19

While the name of this marina is called %u201CTerrytown%u201D it should really be called south %u201CSleepy Hallow%u201D. This was a good stop, with a nice little city on the side of a hill. We had issues renting a car as the closest %u201Creal%u201D rental car locations is at the airport, a 35 dollar cab ride away. We were here for a few days and really enjoyed walking around town and in Sleepy Hollow. The transient dock we used had to be used Bow in, and the water spout was not next to the power. I ended up having to snip all the zip ties around the power and water hose (oh well). We received over 30 TV stations on our antenna which is better than average. Over all nice spot to stop

A wonderful marina. All of the local boaters were friendly. We felt like family the second we stepped off of our boat. The train is close by for a trip into the city. A great little town a short walk up the hill. We enjoyed the history this little town had to offer. Home of Washington Irvington and the legend of the Sleepy Hollow made for some fun exploring.

Nice, Quiet Spot, 2011-07-03
Captain: , Mystic, CT (382)

easy access right after the Tappan Zee Bridge. Clean rest rooms with key card for access. Docks are patrolled by security guard at night. Marina was having a yard BBQ the night we arrived and we were welcomed to enjoy! Nice quiet spot with a restaurant on premises.

What a pleasant surprise. Follow the markers in, no trouble with depth. The train is right there, 30 minutes to Grand Central. About a mile hike up to the town with numerous restaurants. Very clean bathrooms, competitive fuel prices and very little wave action.

Came in at low tide and ran aground - we draw 5'. Dockmaster not very friendly and couldn't believe that we were aground. Walked up hill to town and wonderful dinner at Isabella Italian Bistro. Walked up hill - 1.1 mile to visit the visitor center for Kykuit, Rochefellers home. Well worth the walk.

Convenient Marina, 2010-07-07
Captain: , Westbrook, CT (296)

Yes trains to and from NYC every half hour across the street. Heads and showers very clean and air conditioned! It was over 100 deg and humid today. This privately owned marina is suffering from the economic downturn, but believe new owners wiil try hard. Current owner and helper were only two on site but were most helpful in finding the perfect slip and tying up. Card pass key required to get on dock area and into wash rooms. Laundry is by combo. Restaurant on site. Only a few slips for larger boats and more for small boats with shallow draft. Transient slips avail as owners go cruising. This is our 7th stay and it fits our slow schedule. Nothing for us between Liberty Landing and Haverstraw except here. 79th street marina is continual roll and rock - - no thanks.

NY Accessable Marina, 2009-09-24
Captain: , Lewes, DE (2517)

Marina is expensive but has great accessability to New York with train station next to marina. Staff was helpful and friendly but are few. We enjoyed our stay and took advantage of the easy access to New York.

floating docks, groceries a $4 taxi ride., however train station there to take you to NY

Bad Experience, 2008-05-22
Captain: , Centennial, CO (75)

Marina did not respond to VHF...had to use cell phone. No docking help. Clumps of goose crap covering dock. They had two people working (one was writing a college paper) yet they would not hose off dock so that we could put out electrical cords. Woiuld not let us borrow power washier to wash dock. We had to clean dock from our boat (would not want our good hoses in that stuff) and they would not give us discount for doing so. Worst place I have ever stayed.

This place Sucks!, 2008-05-22

Don't go here unless you are in dire straits. There are many other options.
