these docks should be condemmed, 2017-02-20
Captain: , Tampa (40)

We spent 2 nights here during a hard blow. The slips are disgusting and are in such poor shape that if they were a private marina, they would be shut down. The slip long enough to accommodate us had no power and water. They were covered in so much bird poop, we were slipping in it while docking. We pulled 2 cleats during the blow and the boat moved and because the docks are in such bad shape my boarding ladder got wedged and got all torn up. There are no rollers on the docks at the posts in places and as result the the docks bump and shudder. There are parts tacked together with plywood that has come lose. These docks are meant to be be part of the Riverwalk, City of Tampa's so called pride and joy. I got charged full rate of course!!!

What a great stop!, 2016-08-19

Stayed here 5 days in August 2016. Mark the Dockmaster is the best. Floating docks right in the heart of downtown Tampa. Extremely easy in/out and plenty of water. Everything like new. $2.00 per foot including water and power. Pool at the adjacent Marriott. Dockside bar and many restaurants within walking distance. Trolley stop a block away takes you everywhere.

Great Place, 2016-07-07
Captain: , Tampa, FL (20)

Great place to dock, allowing walking access to downtown restaurants, Amalie Arena, Sail Pavilion, History Museum, Columbia Restaurants.
Dockhands are usually available right away and meet you coming in.

Easy access to downtown and the Ybor City trolley, 2016-05-11
Captain: , United States (3192)

We stopped here in out tender after anchoring west of Davis Island. We tied up around the back of the dock instead of in a slip and the dockmaster on duty waived the fee. An easy walk across the street gets you to the trolley that will take you to Channelside and Ybor City. Nice waterfront bar right in the plaza by the dock.

The city marina has improved immensely over the past year driven by the new private management. The staff is excellent as are the facilities. The approach is deep, straightforward with little effect from wind (thanks to the buildings) and current is tenable. Access to downtime Tampa is excellent. It is a short safe walk to many restaurants and bars one of the best, Jacksons, is across the creek. The "River Walk" is steps from your cockpit. We visit for the Farmers Market which is respectable during the summer months. It is understandably noisy with the nearby Hospital helicopter making many trips a day but this is a downtown area. The dockage rate is convoluted with both an hourly rate and an overnight rate of $2 a foot but if you are looking for a city setting it is a value. I would give it 5 stars if there was better public transportation. We will return.

TCC now has 3 rotating dock attendants to answer the phone take payments and assist with slip assignments and docking. They are available 7am to 11pm! Contact them by phone as the vhf is not monitored.

excellent 5 day stay, 2014-11-29
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1804)

Great relatively new cruising destination. Excellent floating docks, paid parking right by dock, many restaurants and a Publix within 1 mile, several movie theaters nearby and in Ybor. Ybor trolly picks up within 100 yes. Hockey arena 1/4 mile. Excellent dingy riding, 16 ft depth at docks, twin 50 amps at each pedestal and water. No problem with security, very well lit and patrolled area. Men's and ladies room nearby but no showers. Access to Hart the Tampa public transit system, excellent walks in all directions, Fla Aquarium 1/2 mile , Columbia Cafe 1/4 mile , right on Tampa's expanding Riverwalk. Near a number of museum's and Performing arts hall. Check out the Tampa Theatre showing movies in a 1940's stay theatre.
This area is undiscovered by the cruising community.
U can not make reservations. The docks are administered by the Tampa Convention Center located right on the docks. U pay either using a parking app or use a credit card in an automated parking meter pay station. Currently cost $4/hr for a slip regardless on length , a good deal for large boat and a bad deal for smaller ones. Can only pay for about 35 hrs at a time. U are supposed to pay for every 24hrs at the dock per the Convention Center office.

Power Coming Soon, 2014-08-13
Captain: , St. Petersburg (20)

I've been staying here for years. Great deep access to downtown with floating docks at a very reasonable rate. As of 8/1/14 I noticed they're in the process of putting 30 and 50amp power. Curious to see what the new rates will be.

Great / safe overnight, 2013-04-24
Captain: , Orlando, FL (275)

$1/ft per day up to 72hrs, or short term $2/hr up to 10 hrs. Pay cash at box by dock. No power access. Nice outdoor bar right by the dock. Bathrooms available by bar or at Marriott next door. Great food and entertainment all close by. Area was very clean and safe.

Great location but no amenities is a drag, 2012-11-06
Captain: , St.Petersburg (21)

I spent the night in October 2012. But it was still too warm to close up. With the hatches open you hear the Bayflite helicopter and industrial noise from the hospital. Earplugs fix that but not the heat. Sure wish they had power so I could run the A/C. You can't really run a genset in a downtown slip wihout smogging everyone out.

The Birds!, 2012-10-29
Captain: , Tampa, Florida (243)

Sea Gulls a plenty . . . . and they were "doing their stuff" all over the docks. The docks smeled of poop and made your shoes a mess. This is a great location, but only if the docks are clean. There is a Publix two blocks away. Actually, the side ties along the convention or at Jackson's (across from the city docks) are much better and you do not have to fight the gull droppings.

A great place to stay and bus or trolly around the city

nice concrete floating docks, 2012-02-19
Captain: , FL West Coast (136)

very well used by birds. Easy walk to trolly to Ybor city or cruise ship port. No water, power or services no security. No groceries or boat supplys nearby.

Nice for an overnight, 2011-06-15
Captain: , Apollo Beach, FL (185)

We had reservations at the Marriott Marina but couldn't fit under the bridge. This dock was our backup plan and worked out quite nicely. Inexpensive and a wonderful location. If these docks had power I would use them all the time.
