Reviews for Swantown Marina and Boatworks
Large Marina, 2017-06-10
Captain: , La Crosse, WI (941)

Stayed two nights. Wifi did not work. Docks were not clean, An overnight rain shower cleaned them. Need a key card to use restrooms and showers after office hours. $20 deposit required. Restrooms and showers were clean. They were installing a fuel dock, which was scheduled to be operational in June 2017. Call ahead before counting on fuel being available. Stores and grocery stores are within a long walk. We had bikes, the town is near sea level so it is easy biking. Interesting antique stores down town. Farmers market is close to the Marina.

Swantown Guest Docks, 2015-03-12
Captain: , Seattle (505)

Docked on the inside of the breakwater for two nights. Our first observation was the dirty docks, littered with shells and a few piles of dog poo. The shells were crunched up from being walked on so they have been here awhile. Not a good first impression for a first time visitor and the reason for only three stars. We found the walk to town welcome exercise. There are plenty of shore activities and attractions to keep you busy, including the free shuttle to the free capitol tour, seasonal farmer's market, coffee shops, restaurants, and grocery stores. We will return, but next time will bring a stiff broom.

Pleasant 2 Day Stay, 2014-10-08
Captain: , Liberty Bay, WA (410)

Nice people, clean restrooms, clean laundry, nice docks (could be cleaner), quiet. No security gate but felt safe. Had dinner one night at Anthony's Hearth Grill, which was very good. Reason for only 4 stars is the distance to the groceries and other resturants. They need rental bikes or something for us older people

Excellent experience, 2014-09-20
Captain: , Portland, OR (279)

We launched on Aug 26, 2014 and spent the night before cruising in Puget Sound. We spent the night in the marina Sep 15 and hauled out the next morning. The entire experience was excellent. Marina staff was helpful in planning our stay, courteous and efficient in checking us in on both visits. They even provided a two-person crew to help load the boat on the trailer.

The docks are nearly new and very well maintained. Pump out station is easy to get to and works well. Water and power easily available. Rest rooms and showers are clean. Ask for a pass key (deposit required) when checking in, as the heads are locked in the early evening. Truck/trailer parking is available. Security is excellent.

Lots of Things to Do and See, 2014-08-15
Captain: , Bremerton (10)

Twenty-minute walking distance to downtown Olympia. Thirty-minute walk to State Capitol. Eclectic, historic downtown is well-endowed with good restaurants and coffee shops. We ate twice at the Spar Cafe. Breakfast was quick service and yummy scramble. Fresh squeezed orange juice too! Clean restrooms and showers at the marina. Free wifi at our transient moorage slip. Easily-accessible transient moorage with large slips and sturdy piers.

Our favorite access to Sounth Sound, 2013-11-12
Captain: , Richland WA (50)

We trailer our cruiser and this place is a great location to launch and stay. Good launch and easy trailer storage. Plenty of slips available at a good rate. Clean showers and laundy. A bit of a walk to town, but easy walking.

Nice marina in South Puget Sound, 2013-04-11
Captain: , Sequim, WA (130)

We have stayed here twice over the last few years and have been happy both times. It has always been calm and quiet. It is a long walk to shopping and activities (hence the 4* rating).

Very nice marina, 2012-07-29
Captain: , Gig Harbor, WA (469)

This is a very nice marina. The guest dock had a security guy come by and check on us. The Marina staff came by a couple of times to see if we needed anything. Over all, it was a very pleasant stay.

The 200 dock is 40' with a nice wide fairway for the entry. Pay attention to the channel when approaching this marina and the no wake signs. We saw the police stop two boats for speeding!

Nice facilities too bad about the management, 2012-06-12
Captain: , Portland (10)

This marina has nice docks, ramps and such but I found the management so inept that I moved my boat after 3 months. They also have no fuel and it is a major pain to motor all the way out the narrow channel to the end of the no wake zone. This is not the place to moo a sail boat.

First Class Marina, 2012-03-14
Captain: , Seattle (402)

This marina is first class, probably one of the best in Puget Sound. Docks are wide and extremely stable; cleats are large and easy to hook coming in. Rest rooms/showers/laundry are warm and comfortable - and extremely clean. Personnel are friendly and helpful. When the snow/ice storms hit we stayed with friends but could monitor our dock and boat through their webcam. Needn't have worried. This marina is secure and well protected in storms.

Long walk..., 2011-08-10
Captain: , Gig Harbor, WA (225)

We stayed here overnight so we could go eat dinner at Anthony's Homeport Restaurant. The guest docks are in good shape, the bathrooms fine, and the pump-out was great. However to get over to where the shops and Restaurants are, is a longish walk. That is the only reason it isn't a 5 star in my mind.

Good choice for Olympia/Budd Inlet, 2011-07-30
Captain: , Seattle (250)

Spacious guest dock and ample fairways. Bathrooms, showers and laundry all well maintained. Farmers Market and a few restaurants about 1/2 mile walk. From there you can catch a free shuttle downtown.

NOTE: as of this writing (7/29/11) there is no fuel available. Apparently going through environmental impact study and permitting. Closest fuel is at Boston Harbor at the head of Budd Inlet..

Four & a half stars because of no fuel, 2011-03-17
Captain: , olympia, wa (183)

I believe this is one of the nicest marinas in the South Sound area. It is clean with just about anything a boater could want and those not available are within a short walk. The only real drawback to Swantown is there is no fuel available; however there is only one way out from Swantown and that is north. Boston Harbor is 10 miles north of Swantown (by boat) and they have fuel.

Great Haulout Service, 2009-07-17
Captain: , Olympia, WA (61)

Have pull our 43' sailboat here three times over 6 year. Helpful staff and competitive pricing. Great yard for working on your boat yourself or getting support from several local providers. Good rental support for sanders, tool,s etc. Area resturants and farmers market within walking distance. Restrooms,WiFi. Olympia Hardware near by for some supplies and West Marine up the hill. Local suppliers in the yard can order most everyting else you need.
