Reviews for Suttons Bay Marina
Excellent services, quiet town, 2016-08-30
Captain: , Lafayette, IN (11)

Marina was extremely helpful with first time visitor to the area. Provided clear direction on the dockage and provided a hand docking. Walk to the showers/restroom is up the hill, but facilities were clean and well maintained. Swim area next to the marina is very nice. Town was quiet and easy walk.

This Marina is just OK, 2016-07-10
Captain: , La Crosse, WI (627)

The dock employee was very concerned that we had a reservation but not concerned enough to grab the rope and help us tie up. Restrooms are dated but clean. Easy in and out of the Marina. Good food at the VI Grill. Nice beach.

Awesome place for family, 2015-08-20
Captain: , muskegon mi (185)

If you have kids this marina is almost perfect. There is a beach/park and playground 50 yards from the marina. There are also a bunch of small shops and restuarants in town. There is a grocery store that is only a 1/2 mile away. The bathrooms need some updating and the staff all appeared to be in there teens.

Perfect For a Trailerable, 2015-08-06
Captain: , Peoria, IL (310)

If you want to be in the heart of Grand Traverse Bay, this is the place to be. We have a 26%u2019 trailerable sailboat and they were very accommodating in allowing us the time and space to get it rigged and launched. They also have offsite trailer storage available at no charge.

The marina services are basic %u2013 gas only (no diesel), $7 pump out, water, and 30A electric (bring a LONG cord). Ice was $2 a bag, cube only. The staff was very helpful but you need to ask. The marina quiets down every night around 10 %u2013 very peaceful. There is a nice sand beach just to the north of the slips. The showers house was older but clean and in good repair. It%u2019s not air conditioned, so when the temps reach the upper 80%u2019s it doubles as a sauna!

The town of Sutton%u2019s Bay is awesome! Several restaurants, ice cream shops, art, and touristy stores are all within walking distance. A grocery store and a laundromat are about a mile south.

You will be no more than 15 SM from the other interesting cities with marinas such as Elk Rapids, Traverse City, and North Port. I also recommend sailing to Leeland and the Manitou Islands if you have the time.

All in all it was a very nice marina out of which to base our 2 week trip to Grand Traverse Bay. Rumor has it that they are considering a new bath facility. That would definitely earn it the 5th star!

Sweet liitle town, 2015-06-24
Captain: , Bloomington, IN (156)

Basic marina. Single 30 amp service. Never saw an adult in charge at the marina, and the kids who were there offered minimal assistance. The town itself is a great stop, and we'll worth an overnight. An upgraded Marina facility would be a big improvement!

Quiet and Charming, 2014-07-24
Captain: , midland (11)

We came here for our first time in 2013. We fell in love immediatlely. This is a clean quiet marina with friendly helpful staff that try very hard to accomodate your needs. Great town with plenty to do and see. It seems best suited to midsized boats (under 35 feet). We will be back often.

Great Marina, 2013-08-12
Captain: , Traverse City, MI (56)

This is a great little marina. One of our favorites in northern Michigan. The staff is always very friendly and helpfull. Very quiet and laid back. The bath house does need to be updated, but is clean. Very short walk, one block, in to town with a couple of restaurants/bars, shopping and a movie theater. Closest grocery store is about a mile away.

Very nice stop, 2013-08-01
Captain: , Big Torch Key, FL (1956)

Update - July 2013 - The marina was recently dreged to 8 feet opening up for space for larger boats.

Very friendly staff to welcome you, but minimum facilites especially for larger boats. There are only about 4 slips to accommodate boats over 40 feet and there is only a single 30 amp plug. Outside docks are exposed to the north east. Lovely little town with a number of restaurants. The North Country Inn has outdoor dining in a garden setting and excellent food at a reasonalbe price.

Nice little town, 2011-08-28
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6484)

Stopped in for lunch stop, recommend Martha's. Docks in good condition, limited room for larger boats, but plenty enough for our 34'

Suttons Bay, 2011-03-09
Captain: , Macataw, MI (435)

Great place to hang out for a couple of nights. Good restaurants and clubs are close. Minimal facilities but well protected harbor

Nice Spot to Stop, 2011-01-05
Captain: , Grand Rapids (30)

Basic marina with limited deep water berths. Very senic area and great small town to explore especially in the summer. Several winerys within a short distance.

Small Marina, 2009-10-05
Captain: , Pentwater, MI (415)

I have stayed here and like to location. In the summer most of the operations are run by kids so don't expect more than just basic service; diesel, gas, pump out.

Great Place to Stop or Stay, 2007-02-24
Captain: , Snellville, GA (162)

Good place to stay with lots to see and do, very well kept marina as well.
