Reviews for Sunset Harbour Yacht Club and Marina
Great Stay, 2015-11-13
Captain: , Daytona Beach, FL. (90)

Stayed just one night. Very nice facility and staff was extremely helpful. Pool and rest rooms were excellent. Will be back.

Wonderful Marina, 2015-06-08
Captain: , Colorodo (317)

I stayed here for 4 nights and it was wonderful. I did not sleep on my boat but everybody I talked to was very nice and kind and relaxed. It is a little pricy but it is worth every cent.

Great Marina!, 2014-03-12
Captain: , Cape Porpoise, Maine (240)

The staff couldn't be nicer and the facilities were immaculate. We were here a couple of years ago and wish we had bought property as there were condos and docks available. Now, with the neighborhood full of young people and the shops and restaurants all open and vibrant, you can't touch it. Publix, Fresh Market, liquor and wine stores and great restaurants all within easy walking distance. Wonderful pool and workout facilities on site We will be back.

good but a few issues, 2014-01-25
Captain: , Ft Myers, Florida (1663)

Most slips are for 70+ ft yachts! fixed docks. If you have a oat under 50 ft try to get on side tie area along canal. No fuel. Bathrooms , location, staff, upkeep all first class. Unfortunately our power pedestal did not provide a proper neutral ground so we had no power , we checked in late and it was never fixed or looked at. Publix across the street, Fresh Market and Walgreen two blocks. Lincoln Way Pedestrian Mall 6 blocks, great place to visit, shop, people watch, eat. Highly recommend Juvia Restaurant, very expensive but great food, service, incredible view on top of open air 9th floor, best dining experience I have ever had.
About 20 blocks from ocean and formal South Beach

Great Staff - Really Nice People, 2013-06-23
Captain: , West Palm Beach, FL (30)

Amenities are nice and clean. If you need Diesel, the staff will arrange to have it trucked in at a nice price. If you can't take 300 gallons, they willl try to find somebody to take what you can't hold.
Swimming Pool is really nice. One of the best marinas in the Miami area.

Absolutely Top Notch, 2013-05-13
Captain: , Browns Cove, MD (402)

Sunset Harbour is definately for the discriminating boater. From the 90-100 foot Sunseekers and Pershings to the gorgeous docks, pool and property this marina is 2nd to none. The staff are extremely helpful and offer to help you tie up, exit the slip, bring ice, etc. They just cannot do enough and completely understand the concept of service. Not the kind of statement one can always make at a marina. There are also numerous restaurants and a Publix (for groceries) within an easy walk. Amazing setting, beautiful property, great staff and all the amenities you could want make this a 10, but there are only 5 stars available.

Fantastic Staff and facility, 2013-04-06
Captain: , Atlanta, GA (10)

We stayed overnight here on our 5day vacation aboard Sponge Bob, at 33ft Catamaran. Upon hailing the marina, they gave me clear directions to the slip and asked if I needed any help. I declined but as I arrived at the slip, they had sent someone out just in case I needed some! The office staff was wonderful and welcoming as wel. We will definitely return!

Great Place to Stay, 2012-11-13
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (420)

I can only echo the previous comments about this facility. Stayed there in mid Oct. and took advantage of their 3 nights for the price of 2 offer. Daily rate is a bit pricey, but not above the norm for the area. The Fresh Market store near Publix is not to be missed

Previous reviews accurate, 2012-10-23
Captain: , Erie, Pa. (1826)

First class marina, first class facility, good power, good water, over 10' at low tide at dock, same on approach. Wide fairways. Very nice pool, everything you could want is within a few blocks, Publix, restaurants etc.

The most professional dock hands and staff ever, 2012-10-15
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale, FL (110)

I had the pleasure of staying at Sunset Harbour this past weekend. I was very impressed. The docks are like new. There are rubber bumpers on the concrete dock pilings. The staff was among the most professional I have experienced at any marina. They knew how to grab a line, tie a spring, cleat a rope, tidy excess rope, and quickly and efficiently connect shore power without ever making you feel rushed. Well done! The facilities where also very nice with a huge pool. I did not see the showers or bathroom facilities but would bet they were well maintained based on the condition of everything else.

The location is also fantastic with Lincoln Road being a short walk awat (.25-.3 miles estimating).

I would highly recommend this marina and location.

Location, location, location...., 2012-07-10
Captain: , Port Orange, FL (95)

The old addage says it all (Location). It is probably one of the best located marinas in Miami Beach. The staff is very friendly. The pool is decent. Showers and bathroom are not bad. Slips can be a little tight on E-Dock, but it is where I prefer to be. And lots of great stuff to do and see all very close by. In summer you pay for 2 nights and get the third night free.

Great Marina But No Fuel, 2012-06-21
Captain: , Longboat Key, FL (944)

In order for a marina to get 5 stars from me, it has to have it ALL. Sunset Harbor sure comes close, but without fuel (or the hassel of calling a truck in), I give it 4 stars. Just the same, this is an excellent marina, very nice facilities and within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. "Pub Belly" right out the front gate is an interesting, fun and excellent restuarant.

I agree. Sunset Harbour is a great place to be, 2012-06-14
Captain: , Marco Island, FL (140)

After writing off Miami Beach Marina on our return fron the Bahamas, we elected to stay at Sunset Harbour. Great choice. Well kept marina and grounds. Great location. George, the harbor master, couldn't have been more helpful. The boat travelling with us had hit bottom and needed prop work. George arranged for local divers to assist. We will go back to Sunset. Compared to the surly folks at Miami Beach Marina, this was heaven.

The Best hands down., 2012-05-23
Captain: , marathon,fl (40)

These guys are the greatest. Friendly and helpful staff. I had to be towed in here to make repairs on my transmission. They allowed me full useage of their tool shop. While Kristy enjoyed the pool. Publix grocery is only a couple hundred yards from where I docked. A life saver was the well stocked ACE hardware within walking distance. 3.50 a foot 40 foot minimum is the only complaint I have. But if you pay for two days the 3rd is free. So it worked out to be a better price then other marinas.

I will be stopping here again to enjoy more of South Beach.

High end marina righ in South Beach, 2012-04-30
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (250)

Excellent location, great ameneties, very helpful staff. Well marked entance channel. You can walk just a few blocks and be on Lincoln Road with many restaurants, shops, etc. Try B&B (Burger and Beer Joint) just one block away for a good burger and a cold beer. I used to stay at Miami Beach Marina, but now prefer this when in Miami Beach.

Fabulous alternative to the second rate marinas locally, 2012-03-07
Captain: , PooleUK (933)

The marina has attentave staff, great facilities and is well sheltered. Its proximity to one of Miamis more plesant areas is a huge bonus.
Were it not for the attitude of some of the residents I would happily award five stars.

Came for a month -- Stayed for a year (and counting), 2012-02-22
Captain: , Miami Beach, FL (87)

I have stayed at Dinner Key, Sea Isle (when in was Sealine) and Miami Beach Marina over the years. I came to Sunset Harbour planning to stay a few months and have stayed for over a year. Great, friendly and helpful staff. The marina, pool, fitness center and facilities are always kept in top condition. The location is private and feels secluded yet is a short walk to Lincoln Road and everythiing South Beach. There is a Publix Supermarket 1/2 block away as mentioned previously and you really do just bring your shopping cart back to the boat and then push it outside the dock gates when you are finished. In December, a new Fresh Market opened 1-1/2 blocks away. There are currently 7 restaurants within a block of the marina. Cab stand 1/2 block away next to Publix. Dry cleaner, Office Depot, and bus stop 1-2 blocks from marina. Many more restaurants and shopping are a within 6 blocks. You can walk or ride a bike to the beach (approx 1 mile), take the 25cent bus or cab it for about $7 to all of the action on Ocean & Collins. Two Deco Bike Stands (rental bikes) are within a block.

Docks are concrete and new composite outer pilings were installed in October 2011. Pump-out at slip. Current here runs parallel to the slips (in and out with tides and not across). Wakes from boats in the channel outside the marina can be a problem as noted previously (especially on weekends) but I have kept myself tied off a little further from the dock than I typically might and not had any problems. Just hope you aren't showering when a megayacht is racing by for a bridge opening. The marina continues to battle to get a no wake zone and has made progress but it is a long process. In fairness, I would note that in past I often had the same problem with wakes at Miami Beach Marina, so I have come to accept it as part of being in Miami. There is security on duty at night and cameras but this is not a typical "city" marina with security issues and there is very little outside foot traffic.

For travelers, MIA airport is about 20 minutes away and FLL is about 35 (depending on traffic). A bus runs to MIA from a pickup spot about 5 blocks away and costs around $4 for the trip.

The marina is approx. 1 mile from Government Cut. East Venetian Causeway bridge opens on the hour & 1/2 hour weekdays and on demand on weekends for those headed to the ocean or Biscayne Bay. There is 35' fixed bridge at MacCarthur Causeway. For sailboats and taller vessels, who, approaching from the South or the ocean will have to go around via West Venetian (there is a 65' fixed bridge that route). The marina is generally well protected from winds in all directions except out of the West/Northwest.

2 Washers and 3 dryers (currently $1 per load each).

During the winter months the marina is typically full and there is a friendly community of snowbirders and many yachts. In the summer, the marina is far less full as many of the slips are owned by yacht owners who have gone North for the summer. Sunset Harbour lives up to it's name and delivers spectacular sunset views nightly.

Great Marina!, 2012-02-03
Captain: , Boston (232)

Wonderful location. Top notch staff. Friendly. Highly recommended!

Consistently great marina, 2010-06-29
Captain: , Lake Worth, Florida (20)

Have stayed at the Marina twice and each time met by very pleasant and helpful staff. Docks in great shape and beautiful pool, BBQ area and gym included. Literally across the street from a large well equipped Publix. 3 great restaurants around the corner from marina and 1 1/2 blocks from Lincoln Road and movie theatre. The marina staff goes out of their way to help. Great place to visit, convenient and less expensive than Miami Beach Marina.

Rocky on Weekends, 2008-04-15
Captain: , Prior Lake, MN (14)

All things considered, I have to give this a "3" because of the wakes of passing boats. We rocked a lot., waking us up through the night.. No doubt the facilities are tops and the location is excellent.and they are trying to get approval for the area to have a no wake zone. Not passed yet, however. The boats there are awesome.

Location and Staff, 2008-03-04
Captain: , Kiawah Island, SC (152)

This is a terrific marina that is in a great location on Miami Beach. It is half a block to a Publix and within walking distance from everything on South Beach. The staff are the most accomodating we have met in 2 years of cruising around the US. The docks are fixed concrete that are in very good shape. It isn't the cheapest but is certainly worth all the good things you get.

It can get a little rocky at times but not at all troublesome. Give a try sometime.

Great Marina, 2007-02-21
Captain: , Huntington, NY (2310)

I agree with John's description, Great Marina. The ride from here to Biscayne Bay takes longer than it might appear on the map. I recall I needed to take long route to care for the high mast on the sailboat I chartered.

Also, careful the current that runs in front of, and thru the marina.

Overview - 2 year resident , 2007-01-28
Captain: , Miami (53)

I have been in this marina for 2 years. My vessel is a 50' Sport fisherman. There are slips from 50' to 150' with plenty of depth and room to get in and out. It is one of the cleanest marinas you will find anywhere and it is convenient to everything. It is a private yachtclub but there are transient slips available. The Publix is so close you can walk and bring your grocery cart to you boat , the marina will return it. You can walk to Lincoln Road and have 100's of restaurants at hand. Accross the street is Joe Allen Restaurant - great food. There is an olympic sized clean pool, a gym with new and clean equipment. The slips are in great shape and the view of biscayne bay is unbeatable. The staff is friendly. No fuel dock but you can have Petersons deliver fuel and save 50 to 70 cents per gallon over Miami Marina.
