Reviews for Sun Harbor Marina
Friendly staff, 2017-06-11
Captain: , Merritt Island, FL (556)

Stayed here June 11, 2017. Easy marina approach, old wood docks, power and water, no Internet on docks, many old boats in poor condition, waves/swells from waterway, good restaurant, laundry good - 4 washers and dryers, restrooms being remodeled.

This marina is a great place for transient cruisers. This marina was recommended by a friend, and was spot on with his description. Even though this marina is indeed a very nice place to stay, the staff is its greatest asset. Everyone went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed including information about the local amenities. Great water pressure, adequate power, and everything works. While staying, I rented a pontoon boat to visit the local beaches and restaurants. The boat functioned well and once again, the staff was extremely helpful. Heck, even the marina cat whose name is Marina was very friendly. Lastly, the term used for this marina is %u201CClean%u201D, and it is very accurate. As the title of my review states, I will be back. Thank you for a great stay, and making my vacation a pleasant one.

We enjoyed our stay, 2017-01-14

We kept the boat here during the Christmas Holidays. The marina staff are friendly and go out of their way to make your stay pleasent. The restaurant on site is a great place to eat. Showers and restrooms are clean and well kept. Enterprise is only a mile and a quarter away, and will bring a car to the marina. Shopping is a bit of a hike, but if you have bicycles or a car you can find just about anything you need.

Quick Stop, 2016-11-14
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (513)

Quick stop off the ICW for fuel and nice. Friendly dockhand, .10 off per gallon with Boat US Card

Great Place to stop!, 2016-11-08
Captain: , Milwaukee, Wi. (798)

A gentleman purchased this Marina a couple years back and re opened the restaurants and tiki hut outside. Great staff, manager came out to greet us and made sure we received drinks and food specials even though the 6 o:clock hour was cresting! A smaller marina, but very pleasant after running the ditch! Oh, they close the Marina office at 5:00, but they all stayed around & helped to properly tie us up with the small tide here!... boat US discounts!

Try them for lunch., 2016-11-01
Captain: , Miami Beach (50)

Pretty good burgers. The place is new and still has a way to go but they are working on it.

Rough Marina, 2015-07-09
Captain: , Corpus Christi (240)

One night will be one too many. The staff was friendly but limited in what could be done. Marina was for sale when we were there but I wouldnt go back regardless

Friendly Staff, 2015-04-10
Captain: , Poteau, OK (289)

But the transient slips were rough and offered little protection from wakes 9of which there were many) and wind. Monica was extremely helpful as was Greg. Amenities were adquate.

Only as last resort, 2015-03-20
Captain: , Port Aransas, Texas (222)

Poor fixed docks exposed to significant wake from the many passing boats. Not sure how this place got the same rating as Saint Andrews. We stayed at both, and there is no comparison. Staff are firendly, but incompetent. I would only stay here if other marinas are full. One good thing is that the transfer point for all the busses is right across the street at the college, so catching a bus is super easy here.

New Home Port, 2015-03-18
Captain: , Dothan, AL (45)

We are the new kids on the block. We moved our Cherubini 37 here a month ago and could not be happier. We're relatively new sailors in what we consider a big boat. We just moved up from a 26 to the 37 and have a lot of questions. Everyone at Sun Harbor has been incredibly welcoming, helpful, and patient with our rookie questions. Greg, the harbor master, is the epitome of professionalism and patience. Monica and Allen in the office are fantastically friendly and helpful. All in all, we love Sun Harbor.

Highly Reccomended!, 2015-02-07
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (20)

Great dockmaster Greg, and staff, Monica! Went out of their way to make sure our stay (5 weeks) was great. Gave us a ride to the rental car office when we needed, referred us to a good mechanic for a steering issue we had, signed for mail for us, and anything else we needed! Nice, well maintained marina with clean restrooms and laundry facilities. Plus great price on the monthly rates!
Only problems we had was when the tide was out each day it was very difficult to get on/off the boat...docks are tall. Plus not very sheltered from north winds, or wakes from the ICW.
Overall highly reccommended!

port in a storm, 2015-02-04
Captain: , Paris Landing TN (636)

marina docks seem very run down, raining and blowing so I called ahead on the phone and was advised to hail on the radio when I came under the bridge. i did and was told to take one of the end slips when I came in. was met on the dock as we approached by fellow sailors. we thought they worked here. they advised nobody from the dock would help and they figured we could use assistance in the chop and rain. marina is for sale at this time and all but the ships store looks dilapidated!

Nice Sopover, 2014-12-18
Captain: , Kemah, TX (622)

Fixed docks. We were put in to a slip a bit short for our boat. tie offs for dock lines were not really well placed for length of boat. would not have wanted to be in that slip with a 42' boat in a blow! very pleasant Dockmaster, nice ships store, well secured gates for access in and out. nice restrooms.

Fuel deal and good value marina, 2014-11-09
Captain: , Chicago, Racine, Fish Creek,Wi (3163)

Fuel with Boat US discount and overnight stay $3.27 a gallon.
without stay $3.37 a gallon.
40' overnight would be about $45 a night to stay
Several places to go to eat in town.

Fuel dock not too sailboat friendly., 2014-06-28
Captain: , Pensacola (160)

Tried to get fuel here, rough dock with lots of chop. Fixed dock, but no good place for fenders, would not recommend for anything unless settled (dead calm) weather,

Sun Harbor Marina, 2014-06-05
Captain: , Monroeville, AL (151)

Overall good marina. A bit tough getitng docked due to strong current, but certainly do-able. Firiendly, helpful staff.

Excellent personnel, 2012-08-06
Captain: , Kemah, TX (230)

Came in here to make quick repairs from an electrical fire and they gave me an excellent deal for the night. Was pleasure and thier fuek was resonably priced.

Great stop for fuel, water and supplies, 2012-08-04
Captain: , Gulf Shores Alabama (748)

This marina has oil socks that they give away to any boater who asks. They are provided (by the government I guess) for free and you can get 3 per month. The people there are very helpful and friendly. They let us tie up at their fuel dock while we went in to Publix for groceries and gave us their dock combination in case we came back after 6.

They are working hard for your business, 2012-04-02
Captain: , Key Largo (5457)

docked here in Nov 07,AND IN 09 new owners, dockmaster was haveing a
special; 50 cents a foot transient.
You do get some wave action from passing boats but if your on the inside breaker wall, not a problem. Normal dockage is $1 a foot.

nice marina, 2011-03-30
Captain: , Fort Walton Y.C. Florida (89)

Goods: 50 amp power, cable tv, nice restaurant, in the center of panama city, nice wooden dock and well maintained, fuel at the dock, pump out, and nice people.
Bad: not an protected harbor, waves from boaters in the ICW.

great facility, 2011-02-21
Captain: , Destin Fl (10)

friendly ,helpful and reasoable rates for the accomidatins

Nice People, 2011-01-27
Captain: , Cincinnati (1810)

Docks are little rough but the staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant/bar had good food and the ships store was wlecomed by our female crew members. It can be a little rough from passing boats wakes.

Great staff, OK docks, 2010-08-23
Captain: , Madisonville,LA (76)

VERY helpful staff, docks are OK, little rough. nice ship store, restaurant was closed on my visit, only drawback is wakes from passing boats.

Small Sailboat Experience, 2009-05-05
Captain: , Carrabelle (364)

I found the transient slips for small (under 25') sailboats to be terrible. No cleats, only pilings with nails in the side to hold the lines. They were unprotected slips and when I asked about an alternative, I was offered a second slip that had a draft of 3 feet. I did not stay so I have no comment regarding the other services offerred.

Sun Harbor, 2009-02-08
Captain: , Whitehall, Mi (1754)

Great cruiser friendly facility.
They put on a shrimp boil for the marina and offered deals if we stayed a week. (fall 07)

Sun Harbor, 2008-10-28
Captain: , Carrabelle, FL (62)

Great marina at an awesome price. One of our all time favorites. Very nice people, decent docks, nice laundry, internet access. All good, don't miss it.

Fifty cents a foot (November Special), 2007-11-19
Captain: , portage, Indiana (1)

We could not believe the price when we called. We stopped at Sun Harbor expecting to pull out before we could throw out lines; however, to our surprise David Coupe the Harbor Master directed us into the marina, helped us with our lines, showed us around the marina. David extended to us true southern hospitality. The price for the marina was great, the marina was clean, plenty of washers and dryers, a boutique and the on site resturant and the two lounges was an extra treat. We are very happy we stopped for the night P.S. You must stop and shop at the boutique store. The lady that owns the store is very nice.
