Reviews for Stuyvesant Yacht Club
No Longer Active, 2015-07-30

Unfortunately, the yacht club closed its doors late 2014.

No longer exists., 2015-07-12
Captain: , Norwalk Yacht Club (102)

Moored here three years ago and enjoyed the stay. Tried to e-mail to reserve a mooring for a trip this past week and they were never returned. Went to their website and filled out the "Contact-Us" form. I was then contacted and instructed to call. The number is no longer in service. Tried calling on VHF when in vicinity and was told they had closed and that I should call the City Island Yacht Club.

Took a Mooring June 1, 2014-06-05
Captain: , Westport CT (311)

We picked up a mooring June 1. $30 includes the free launch (we still tipped each trip). City Island is a great place to go for a walk. Lots of restaurants in town, though we ate on the boat. The club is also a boat yard, and the docks are still recovering from Sandy, but the bathrooms were clean, the bar looked nice (we didnt stop for a drink because we had our dog) and the launch operator was great. He even came out on the lauch when we arrived to escort us to our mooring. We did get hit with a couple of bigger wakes during the night. We left the next morning on a more favorable tide.

convenient and friendly., 2013-09-04

Easy access to east river and sound. low stress club that was very accomodating. Showers were clean.

Good for a quick stop, 2013-07-07

just pull up and find a mooring, then scoot into town for a free shower and load up on supplies. Overnight moorings are around for a fee.

Hard working launch operators, 2012-06-30
Captain: , Port Jefferson NY (143)

Low key super freindly club in the center of City Island, short walk to everything.

It was blowing 25+ when we picked up a guest mooring here and the launch operators didn't miss a beat grabbing on in the big bnlows and getting us aboard safely.

Only dissapointment was that there is a WiFi signal in the mooring field from the City Island YC that we coud not use.

A Great Spot, 2012-05-03
Captain: , Shelburne, Nova Scotia (423)

This, and most of the other clubs on the Island, is a great spot to keep in mind. The prices for moorings are way cheaper than even much further out in the sound and in the season they ahve a 24/7 tender service. That is not to say that all the clubs have that service but rather that they help each other out and share the service to the bekefint of the boater. Pretty much everything on City Island is within walking distance - groceries, liquor stores, restaurants, etc.

All around good transient spot, 2011-08-14
Captain: , Chelsea, NY12512 (551)

Near the entrance to the forboding East River. This can be helpful when timing the ebb current which can reach over 4 knots. Inexpensive, $25 for a mooring, including all services like launch, showers, etc. Great nearby seafood and restaurants like the Black Whale only 4 blocks away.

Very helpful, 2011-07-24
Captain: , New York, NY (470)

These guys helped me out with two weeks on a transient mooring when I was in a pinch as to where to put my boat. Mooring operator was super nice and helpful, facility basic but clean. Location good with lots of food close by, plus buses run to co-op city and connect to the NY subway system.

Good transient moorings, 2011-01-29
Captain: , Stratford, CT (250)

A nice club to stay on the island, a bit further away from the town center than the Harlem. Near to restaurants, antique shops, and the supermarket. There is a West Marine Express in the north side of town, a 1/2 mile walk. Lots of good Italian and seafood restaurants nearby, especially Artie's, a really good Italian ($$), or Johnny's Reef (cheap, sit at picnic tables) at the southern of the main drag. There's a restauarant but is only open on weekends and one day during the week. It's easy (although a long trip) to get into Manhattan via bus and subway.

Friendly club, great location, 2010-08-06
Captain: , Rehoboth DE (51)

Disclaimer: I am a member of this club.
The Stuyvesant is a great place from which to explore City Island. Launch service runs until midnight during the season The club bar and restaurant is open on weekends and there are a dozen or more fine restaurants within walking distance. The Bronx Zoo and Botanical gardens are a short bus ride away and all the sights of Manhattan are accessable by public transportation. Guest moorings are usually available.

Low-key. Friendly, 2009-09-08

Courteous launch operators. Nice bar and dining room with views of mooring field and Upper East River bridges (but phone ahead for hours of operation; I arrived on a weekend and it was open...maybe not on a weekday).
