Reviews for Starved Rock Marina
Good stop for a day or two or even longer for storage, 2017-09-19
Captain: , chicago (43)

The marina entrance is running about 4.5 feet and I saw between 4 and 6 feet inside. The slips are pretty good and the staff are most helpful. The marina could use some upgrades and investment, but overall I like it.

Bad diesel pump, 2016-10-15
Captain: , North Point Marina (40)

Most exspensive fuel on our 1340 mile trip and the pump was too slow 28 gals. in :30, enough to refuel in Peoria.

stayed 2 nights, 2016-07-30
Captain: , Eagle (292)

fuel is about 30 cents higher than the rest of the area. Very dog friendly, shower could use an update but definitely a cleaning. Good restaurant, lovely well stocked ladies boutique, ships store is short on stock, no courtesy car, Taxi to Ottawa is $30 each way. Friendly and accommadating. Access is clear, no guessing. stop at the fuel dock and walk to the office accross the parking lot. People showed up to help tie up and were very courteous. $1.25/ft. with electricity and water, good WiFi and friendly dock mates. go to office and talk with Ken a long time river captain with good info. I believe he is only in on the weekend.

out of ICE for weeks, 2016-07-26
Captain: , Saint Charles (669)

We were told they had been out of ice for weeks fuel was $.30 gal. higher than anyone else in the pool. Dock attendent didnt want to help with anything we left with out buying anything.

Marina has seen better days, 2014-09-16

Good stop for shallow draft boats only, over 4 ft. might have trouble getting in or finding slip with enough water (during low to normal river pool) Fuel dock is right on the river, so no need to come inside for fuel or pumpout. Good restaurant on site.

Ok stop before the lock, 2014-09-04
Captain: , Venice, Fl. (949)

I draw 4.5' and churned up muck when I came in. I needed fuel & pumpout and misunderstood wher the fuel dock was. It is in the river just past the entrance. 6.9' at the fuel dock. I went in with a handheld depth finder and checked multiple slips and found 3.8' at all. I was told they had 4-5' on A,B, &C. Stayed on the fuel dock with 22 mph winds from the west. Good restaurant and very clen bathrooms.

tied up and waited out the lock, 2013-04-26

sat here for a couple of hours. Toured the facility and was neither impressed nor dismayed. They do not have diesel and they do not have a courtesy car

Good Stop on the way South, 2012-10-03
Captain: , St. Clair, Michigan (456)

We stopped here becasue the tow in front of us would have precedence at the Starved Rock Lock and we did not want to loose that time just waiting at the lock .
Staff was very good and the help with docking was very much appreciated. We did not try the restuarant but there were many cars coming and going. Not a lot of people around the docks because it is so late in the season. The showers were very clean and the water was hot.
Boat US membership receives the $1 per foot for the dockage.

Remote with no courtesy car, 2012-09-04
Captain: , LeClaire, Iowa (449)

We booked three nights here over the Labor Day weekend because our cruising guide said they have a courtesy car - they do not. They do offer repair service and have a good restaurnt. No laundry but do have a pumpout. Have gas grills and picnic tables. Friendly and competent and $1 ft with BoatUS discount.

Happy Place to be, 2012-08-23
Captain: , Cincinnati (1810)

We stopped here and made arangements to have the boat pulled and the props changed. Spent the night and was sceduled the pull for 8 am the next morning. After switching the props, Shane noticed that the one shaft was loose. He checked in the engine room and found a bolt broken between the shaft and coupling. After repairing, we decided to stay another night since it was after midmorming. We were only charged half price for dockage for the night. The people here are very nice and the restuarant had great drinks and food. The only drawback here is that there is nothing nearby and they do not have a courtesy car. I was glad we were here b/c I found Shane to be very good and competent and fairly priced. Call and check depths before you get here. We draft 42 inches and we stirred up a lot of mud. We did bump lightly once and it was very soft and we were near another slip and not near the slip we were assigned. We would most definitely stop here again if in the area. Once again the people here from the restuarant to service dept. to marina personnel were top notch.

Nice stop before the lock, 2010-09-27

Nice stop, friendly people! Highly recommend the resturant. Donna and Irma will serve you a cool drink and the dinners are great.

Great staff, best bartender on the river (Irma) and friendly atmosphere. A ton of space offshore for trailers, on-site garaged storage available, plenty of depth. Situated at the widest part of the river and offering great views of passing vessels - especially at the onsite Captains Cove restaurant/bar.
