Reviews for Star Island Yacht Club
WHATS NOT TO LIKE? Latest visit changed this a bit, 2017-07-21
Captain: , staten island (551)

went this weekend with wife and dog , great time was had by all. The people next to us neil and jo anne where as nice as can be , all the regulars where, resturant recomendations, fishing advice and just nice conversation . I cant say enough about the people docked very welcoming as for marina and staff very professional highly reccomend this spot

7/20/2017 We returned , natives where cordial , dock hands where passable , we where having an issue with our fresh water tank ,we where using hose that we never use for dockwater to boat and it had a leaking fitting in spiget, while he was directing another boat in he fiddled with our hose couldnt fix it gave us a look and ignored it, me Id have had a dock hand come with another hose and replace it , it wouldve been appreciated, but whatever, asked for info in tackle shop and was given bear minimum, not what I expected after my last stay , thus down from 5 to 4 stars
still nice pool, good store , and well kept

The dock hands are untrained summer hires who get zero training from management. Management passes the buck and couldn't be more rude. The GM is new and the service went downhill.
If you have any other alternative - take it.

Good facilities but unfriendly to non fishermen, 2016-08-11
Captain: , Norwalk (303)

This marina is well maintained, however I have seldom come to a place less friendly, whether its the staff or other long term boaters in the marina. You are definitely made to feel as an outsider and the sense I got is that the only reason they allow transient visitors is because they want the income. We will not be back.

Overall a good experience, clean facilities, decent grill, well stocked store. A bit pricey for the service rendered. On the downside a bit hard to get around, the town is about 4 miles away and taxi is fairly expensive at $5 per person. With a large family we paid $60 in cab fare just to do some shopping.

Good location, not cheap, 2015-02-24
Captain: , Wantagh NY (601)

Nice spot to dock to re-fuel and or rest. Nice grill restaurant and nice pool on premises. This like most Montaul marina's are geared for fisherman, so early June Shark tournament season, then one weekend in July Tuna, just need to check with them on availability. Also this place is not cheap, just like Montauk Yacht Club across the street, so buyer beware.

This marina offers it all, 2014-08-05
Captain: , Bayou Bonfouca, LA- Great Loop Cruiser (708)

We were trying to decide whether to stop over in Montauk on our way to Block Island. Several marinas on the way, told us not to skip it, so we took their advise and stopped.
Glad we did! Star Island has a heated pool, restaurant, best ships store we've found and more.
We filled up our fuel tanks from our slip. Short dinghy ride across to the cute little shopping village.
A great stop.

Not for sailors, 2013-09-04

Tried to get a slip from them for Saturday night of Labor Day weekend. I phoned them 3 times during my 7 hour run to Montauk. Each time I was told "all our sailboat slips are taken". When I arrived at their fuel dock, I could clearly see they did not have one sailboat in their slips.
When asked, the dock master thought he had a slip I could use, but when he checked at the office he came back and said "sorry, no".
Bottom line seems to me they don't want sailboats, hence the poor review.

Well run marina, 2013-08-01

Rich and crew know how to provide top notch customer service!Very good cafe on site.Only negative is that they charge $30 a day for electric service!

Very good time, 2013-03-17
Captain: , North Palm Beach Marina, FL (43)

Albeit a bit pricey, this is very well run. Nice, professional, and aim to please attitude. Mostly deep sea fishing guys here, but we'd love to return on a future trip.

Nice Folks but expensive, 2012-06-27
Captain: , Doylestown, Pa. 18902 (414)

They treated well here they advertise a heated pool but then you find out it's only open on weekends as no lifegurds during the week. Maybe that changes after labor day. Box of graham crackers 7.00 dollars. Our 23' with boat US dicount was 109 per night. Showers ok,sinks outfitted with motion detecting spigots that allow a very smoe amount of water before shutting off, then requiring mucho hand movement to get on again for another short burst. Not cool for the kind of prices they were charging. The restaurant has great breakfast, tasty cup cakes for 6.75. WE had to move on but did take a cab ride to a great restaurant called Inlet Seafood

No room elsewehere in Mantouk lake so had to spend 2 days in this Deep sea fisherman's marina. Facilities where clean, but not enough showers or stalls.

We stayed here Saturday May 15 2010. Very easy to get into. Staff was great. Diesel price was 3.29 per gallon. Facillities were clean and well taken care of.
Very good experience recommed it to any one heading in this area

This is a friendly, professionally run marina. It's a little more expensive than some others in the area but worth it if you like
clean convenient accomodations. You may want to get a slip a little farther removed from the restaurant if you like it quiet. They will do their best to accomodate you. There are several charter boats berthed here and bait for all kinds of fishing is available. We've been there three times now and we haven't been disappointed.
