Reviews for Stage Harbor Marine
Beautiful but Somewhat Inconvenient, 2015-09-02
Captain: , Bass River, MA (41)

Very nice, helpful, well maintained with transient slips. Approximately one mile from the center of Chatham.

Beautiful scenic spot, 2015-09-01
Captain: , Newport, RI (60)

spent a couple of nights in August on a mooring ball. People are very laid back and friendly. Very peaceful. watched seals play in the mornings. explored Chatham which is about a mile dinghy ride.

Stage Harbor Marina, 2013-07-17
Captain: , Saquatucket, Harwich, MA (230)

If your in chatham this is a good harbor to spend the weekend on a mouring. The staff here is very frinedly and the harbor is within wlaking distance of many attractions. Navigating into the harbor at low tide can become a bit tricky as the channel narrows out. This harbor can access the nantucket sound as well as the new southway cut through which will bring you out to the atlantic.

Delightful quiet spot, 2013-07-13
Captain: , Essex, CT (1675)

We arrived here having just left the hustle and bustle of Nantucket. What a delight. The harbor is quiet and peaceful with a seal or two to spend time watching. The town is an easy walk with lots of restaurant choices. The way in is well marked and Mel at Stage Harbor Marine couldn't have been nicer with directions, recommendations and kindly escorting us to our mooring. Only slight drawback is getting into the marina could be a bit tougher for anyone larger than us (a Nordic Tug 37).

Away from the traffic, 2013-06-19
Captain: , Westport Point, MA (321)

We stayed at a SHM mooring for a few days in '11 and had a wonderful time. The folks at the office were very friendly and helpful. We took the dink up to the dock in the Mill Pond and wandered around the town, which is outstanding. Good coffee shops, ice cream and restaurants. Lots of nice beaches nearby. You need to sail over to the harbormaster for pumpout.

The channel leading to the inlet can be a little narrow and gets shallow quickly if don't hold tight to it, but in good weather, it's fairly easy to see. The southwesterlies can make it a tack back up the sound when you leave, but it's the kind of beautiful area that you don't mind taking extra sailing time. Monomoy is a great place to anchor if the winds are right, and a nice daysail from the harbor.

This is one of our favorite cruises.

Very Helpful Staff!, 2011-09-09
Captain: , Padanaram, MA (259)

We picked up a mooring in this quiet harbor and went ashore to get some fuel for the dinghy. After asking about how long the walk was to town, the attendant threw me the keys to his truck and gave me directions. We gratefully left him with a six pack after our provisioning run. Great folks!

Location Error, 2007-01-29
Captain: , Stage Harbor (27)

Stage Harbor Marina is MISLOCATED on the Yahoo map--what's marked is the Harbormaster's office--has a boat ramp, tie up dock for loading supplies, getting water, pump-out facility too. It's possible to $$ to tie up overnight. Also a place to pull out dinghies and a couple of nice bathrooms for visitors! Talk to the Harbormaster about guest moorings. Stage Harbor Marina is ON Bridge St, just to the left of the Mitchell River bridge--it's impossible to see when entering Stage Harbor, so just keep following the buoys upstream. They have water, ice, fuel, and a rent guest moorings. Also a launch service, but the hours are limited, so don't spend too much time uptown drinking and eating in the Squire!! Stage Harbor Marina has a haulout facility, a small ship's store, and mechanics. On the second floor of the marina is the Monomoy Yacht Club. If you need help just ask for Andy or his daughter who run the marina--good people
