Reviews for Rivers Edge Marina
Convenient to shopping, 2016-06-25
Captain: , Miami, Fl (21)

Dock Master Paul Walsh super helkpful. Winn Dixie & West Marine neartby. Target & Home Depot a little farther. Clean showers & courtesy bikes.

Friendly marina close to town, 2016-05-21
Captain: , New Buffalo, Michigan (600)

As previous reviews state Paul is the gem of this marina. Friendly, helpful and very professional. $ 1.25 / ft $7 / day 50 amp electric. Hurricane Patty's restaurant on premises. .8 mile to Winn-Dixie grocery. St. Augustine is a great city with more history then we could do in the 3 days we stayed. Must sees are the Sailor Exchange on King Street and the Marine Supply and Oil Co. by the shrimp boats (more things then any boater could imagine). Dont miss either of these. Also great veterinary hospital , St. John Vet. Hospital if you have a pet that needs care. Enjoyed the open air train trolley for touring the city to get over view. Passes are good for 3 days. Docking on slack tide is very helpful. Fuel truck can be arranged if you need fuel. Great friendly people on the docks. Forgot to mention some of the best wi-fi on the docks of any marina we have been to. Could log on any time and great speed.

Good location, 2016-04-25
Captain: , Phoenix (100)

Facilities aren't great but dockmaster, Paul, is wonderful. Less current than downtown marina. Good location far enough from town to avoid the noise but close enough to walk

Good Alternative to St Augustine Municipal, 2016-03-23
Captain: , Fort Monroe, VA (722)

Stayed here five nights as the Municipal dock was booked for Blessing of the Fleet and Race Week. Paul met us at the dock and got us into our slip. Had 6' under our 5'draft at MLW on a 50' long finger pier. Good waterpressure and 50 AMP power. Aout a 20 minute walk to downtown on sidewalks. Easy access to shore for four legged friends. Suggest timing arrival near slack tide due to current in river channel. Good food at Hurricane Patties on site. Clean rest/shower room and laundry. St. Augustine is a great pa;ce to visit.

Superb service!, 2015-08-22
Captain: , Beaumont, TX (669)

it is so convenient to grocery store, west marine, sailors discount, and downtown attractions. The most accomodating helpful people we have met. Paul (above and beyong helpful with docking, pumpout and fueling) Discount tickets to attractions and a card for Hurricaine Patty's restaurant next door gave us Happy hour prices for all evening ....don't miss Karyoke night...very friendly, happy locals and some excellent singers kept us laughing so hard we were crying. We watched the boats on moorings at the municipal marina swing rock and roll with 15 knot winds and current and patted ourselves on the back for staying at Rivers Edge
fuel truck filled us up for $2.35/gal

Well-worn, but fairly good access to town without the fuss, 2015-02-16
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1120)

Left the boat here for a week to return to the FL West Coast by car. Good access to historic St Augustine while not being in the middle of all the crowds of tourists. Surprised by the current in the river. Best to time arrival/departure near slack tide if in a single-screw trawler. Unpaved parking lot and walk paths get muddy/sandy especially in rainy weather.

A Great Place To Break Down, 2014-12-18
Captain: , Breton Bay, Md (20)

In addition to all the positives previously mentioned about this marina, we received excellent mechanical service from Don and his colleague Dave at the on-site "Boat Shop". Our repairs required wisdom and ingenuity, as well as patience and encouragement as we waited for delivery of specialized parts from Germany. Don was able to come up with solutions that were not in the Perkins Workshop manual, and the engine now runs better than ever. Generosity and helpfulness characterize this marina and its entire staff.

Rough Around the Edges, 2014-12-09
Captain: , Stuart FL (478)

Paul, George, liveaboards - could not be more pleasant and friendly. The piers aren't bad. Restrooms are acceptable; it's clear the effort is made to keep them clean and functioning. But just like the rest of the property, it's all a bit tired, in need of a major overhaul. One would expect it to be a real bargain, but no, there are much nicer places for the same or lower rates.

A really great stay!, 2014-12-06
Captain: , Ft. Lauderdale (70)

Excellent service and very friendly! From the liveaboards, the transient dockers, and the staff, everyone was friendly and very helpful. The dockmaster gave us a ride to the local West Marine (a mere 1/4 mi away) and his girlfriend who worked the tourist information desk in town hooked us up! You can't beat the discount at the restaurant either. Facilities were nice and clean and the showers had plentiful hot water. I can't say enough great things about this place. I'll be back for sure!

Best marina in St. Augustine area, 2014-11-20
Captain: , Palmetto, FL (504)

Older marina but very clean. Paul the dockmaster is very accomodating and will go out of his way to help out. Hurricane Patty's restaurant had good food and with a marina card you get happy hour prices all the time

Great little marina, 2014-07-18
Captain: , Key Largo, FL (78)

Older marina with floating docks. Though older everything is kept neat, clean and in good working order. Great sailing community, social and very helpful with boat projects and local knowledge. Marina shares a parking lot with Hurricane Patty's an excellent watering hole and restaurent. Like the marina it has a funky old Florida feel with great food and outstanding prices for marina guests. This is a friendly well protected marina with easy access and strong tidal current as does everything in the area.

Perfect little marina, 2014-06-29
Captain: , Newport RI (10)

My wife and I have been returning to Rivers Edge after each voyage ever since we discovered it a couple of years ago. Paul and the crew do a great job of keeping everything up to snuff and provide a fun environment for cruisers. Clean showers, laundry, wi-fi and book exchange are available. There is a wonderful community of sailors here. Downtown St Augustine, with all of its history and charm, is a short walk away as are West Marine and Winn Dixie.

The Boat Shop at Rivers Edge provides engine repair and maintenace. It is run by Don Samson who has forty plus years working in the marine industry and is one of the most knowledgable people I have met in my decades of cruising.
All in all, a great spot on the San Sabastian River!

Fantastic Marina and Community, 2014-06-24
Captain: , Port Credit Harbor Marina (76)

Paul and George keep things going smoothly in Rivers Edge. Nice little community of boaters who make you feel part of a family. Great solid docks, services and washrooms. We return each year as we prepare to cruise to the Bahamas as great location and close to shopping for provisioning. When working on the boat and get to the end of the day, it is nice to be able to walk over to Hurricane Patties Restarant (on site) for a meal and "something wet".

Avoid the boat shop!, 2014-06-07
Captain: , catskill (290)

The owner of the boat shop is a crook. He gave me a 30 day warranty on a unit I purchased from him. 18 days later there was a major issue, he said thats not covered. Turned out the outboard he sold me had a bad lower unit. His warranty said the unit was covered. He then got very angry, started making demands about dockage for my dinghy while it was there so he could look at it. A real loser. If you go to the maina, call someone in for repair. The marina is nice, clean, and has a nice restraunt.

River Edge Marina, 2014-05-30
Captain: , Wickford, RI (1637)

As others have written, this is a great spot to spend time in St Augustine w/o all the tourist fuss.
Easy to get to by water and about a 15 minute walk to the waterfront.
Paul was the perfect host. Place is not fancy, just good basic accommodations for body and boat.

Wonderful and Accommodating Dock Master!, 2014-04-02
Captain: , Jacksonville (30)

We stayed here for three nights in March '14 and would definitely recommend this Marina for anyone interested in staying in St. Augustine. Paul, the Dock Master was especially kind and accommodating with our requests for visiting family. There are several grills and picnik tables available for guests to use under a nicely shaded pavillion and the bathroom facilities are exceptionally clean and looked after nicely.

Nice, laid back marina, 2014-03-21
Captain: , Cape Coral, Fl (838)

We stayed here for 5 days on the t-dock. Everyone helpful,
especially Paul, the dockmaster

quiet easy going marina -- friendly, 2014-02-11
Captain: , Hampton, VA (2502)

12-2012 We came into Rivers Edge Marina for fuel and ended up staying for 3 nights catching up on maintenance. Convenient to groceries, Sailors-Exchange, West Marine, Home Depot, Walmart (via bike).

UPDATE 2-2014: We had to leave the boat here for 2 months due to an illness in the family. Everything always secure and looked after. Great long-term tansient rate! Regular fuel truck typically not available in January and February. Paul will try to get alternative delivery trucks.

San Sebastian River is being dredged up to the edge of the marina. Although depth here wasn't an issue, It now shouldn't be an issue for anyone with less than 8 ft. draft.

Top value in St. Augustine area!

Make sure the fuel truck with the extra long hose is available if you're more than 50 LOA

Extra helpful dockmaster!

Well protected, 2014-01-14
Captain: , St. James, NC (253)

Very secure docks in any weather. Very little current. Located close to grocery, West Marine and ABC liquors.
Hurricane Patty's, on site, has great food. Just be careful of the happy hour drinks. Not all happy hour drinks aren $3; we paid $9 each and the waitress never told us until the bill came. Ask price first.

Great Service, Great location, Great protection, Great price, 2013-12-07
Captain: , Annapolis (30)

What a pleasant surprise to find Rivers Edge Marina. With 20+ winds predicted we wanted more protection than our mooring offered at the St. Aug. Municipal Marina. We found Rivers Edge Marina and will return to this delightful, low key, friendly marina managed by Paul Walsh. Easy walk to historic area, West Marine and groceries. Kudos.

A Good Marina, 2013-11-13
Captain: , Grand River, Ohio (30)

We stopped here for protection from north winds and having engine problems and was a good choice. Paul has been very helpful. Great to have washing machines and dryers, showers with hot water. Theos Restaurant half mile away across from ABC Liquor store good for breakfast and lunch. Winn Dixie have mile to left outside entrance and Sailors Exchange half mile to the right. Disappointed that WiFi mostly not working. Live aboards and fellow dock mates friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.

Captain: , Nyack, NY (556)

We chose this marina for protection from strong winds and got a few bonus' thrown in. Another reviewer said " a bit on the funky side as no one would confuse this with a luxury facility." However the staff and the many friendly long term patrons make this place a great experiance. A short walk to Sailor's Exchange should not be missed. The Super Market and West Marine are not far (nor is Historic Downtown,) and we shopped the produce stand out front. A birthday party at the pavillion with BBQ and fixins was a marina family affair. Only dissapointment was the on-site restaurant, which everyone else seems to have loved. I guess it was an off day.

Fun and Convienent, 2013-11-08
Captain: , Austin, Texas (1774)

Nov. 7. 2013 Update. Once again, on our way south, we stopped at Rivers Edge, not only for the convienence of the marina, but also for fuel. We arranged with Paul for the fuel truck which arrived on time. Fuel today was at $3.65, less expensive than last spring.

I do not think you will ever find a dockmaster more willing to help, yet very laid back, than Paul. He runs a good marina, and keeps it maintained. Hurricane Pattie's next door is still fun, and you get the Happy Hour special at any time when you stay at the marina. I realize there are more "prestigious" marinas in St. Augustine, but you will find none more friendly, out of the wind and current, with nice facilities. Try it.

We needed fuel, a pump out, and an overnight stay and this marina fit the bill. If you give Paul, the dockmaster, 24 hour notice he can have a fuel truck meet you at their dock. Today's price was $3.70 gal for diesel. Can't beat it. It is just 1.5 miles up the San Sebastian River from the AICW, with plenty of depth at their floating docks.

But we were surprised by how convienent this marina is to St. Augustine. Propane refills were just blocks away, and a Winn-Dixie was even closer. You can walk to downtown. But we really enjoyed Hurricane Patti's right on property. For boaters it is always happy hour. Great drinks, bar food and a casual atmosphere that is unique to Florida waterways. You really should try this place.

Friendly great location and so close to everything., 2013-11-06
Captain: , Kingston, Ontario, Canada (138)

Secure well maintained older floating contreate docks with water and power 30/50A. We stayed on the end of a 100ft T head for easy in and out. Very sheltered from the wind. A strong current at the dock but runs in line with the boat so no problems. The Fuel price is unbeatable @ 3.65 inc tax when most others are $4+. Paul the dockmaster is knowlegeable and very helpful. No depth issues with the Sebastian River or at the docks. Walking distance to grocery, west marine, Liquor store and old town St. Augustine.

Excellent stopping off point!, 2013-10-18
Captain: , Green Cove Springs, FL (301)

I pulled in for desiel ($3.60/gal +tax) and spent the night. Great location with an on-site bar/restraunt that has live music (except Mondays) and good/cheap priced food. Liquor store and mini-mart just down the street via free bicycles. Paul, the dockmaster was very helpful and I highly recommend this location.

Hard to Beat, 2013-10-16
Captain: , Seabrook, TX (250)

Paul, the Dockmaster is a great guy. Very helpful, and will even loan tools! The marina itself is small, but nice enough, with floating docks, a clean shower/restroom, and laundry all in one bulding. Hurricane Patty's is right across the parking lot. You can walk to Publix and West Marine, and it's about 1 1/2 miles to downtown. It is very protected. I will be back.

Super Helpful, 2013-07-27
Captain: , Anna Maria Island (460)

Old Marina can easly be over looked, great resturant on site, easy access to car rental, fuel tanker came to the dock for us, easy walk to the city. Only one negitive to us was the low voltage in the marina. It was a wonderful stop.

Rivers Edge Review, 2013-06-25
Captain: , Ruskin Florida (702)

Not top of the line but GREAT marina. Paul the dockmaster is great and restaurant Hurricane Patty's awesome. Good prices also. No fuel but can arrange for fuel truck if you have a smaller boat. Swift currents so plan arrival at slack tide.

Perfect Location, 2013-06-23
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

Ask for the $1 special. If not, then it is $1.50 with BoatUS or other discount. Easy walk to historic district (0.6 miles) and West close by, grocery, etc within easy walking distance. Docking is easy. They do not monitor VHF usually, so call on phone at least an hour before you get there to ensure good communications. A guy sets up almost everyday a veggie stand with great fruits also. Hurricane Patty's on site is a good eats. Another fantastic stay in 6/2013

Riversedge Marina, 2013-06-12
Captain: , Freeport, Maine (175)

Second time we have been there.... a bit on the funky side as no one would confuse this with a luxury facility. Paul the dockmaster is always friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Facilities are basic but the location up the San Sebastian River is outstanding. One may walk into Downtown, walk to the Win-Dixie and other stores, and of course Hurricane Patty's is on site.
When we called, we were being towed in because of a grounding and overheating problem. Paul and two other s came out to the face dock to help ease us in. When we were tied up, Paul went to his special card file and found a wonderful diesel tech named Marty Hatcher from Brunswick, GA who got us squared away with a new heat exchanger. A comfortable place where we spent Christmas and New Years two years ago.

rivers edge, 2013-05-18
Captain: , Vero Beach, FL (654)

We stayed at Rivers Edge for a week while we enjoyed the sites in St Augustine, at a price that was beyond belief. We thought that Dock Master Paul was a great help. He helped in pointing us in the right direction when we needed A/C and computer repairs. If you%u2019re looking for a 5 star marina that has all the amenities this ain%u2019t it. The parking lot is graveled, the docks aren%u2019t in the best of shape, gas is not available on site w/o notice, the pump out is at high tide only, and there is a sneaky fast current on your approach. They do have a good location to town, on site restaurant, easy in and out to A1A, and Paul.

Awesome Hidden Gem, 2013-05-07
Captain: , Saint Augustine, FL (10)

Tucked away and safe from the wind and waves, and easy access to downtown. Hurricane Patty's is a locals' favorite watering hole with good food and entertainment on the premises. There is also a new ships' store for supplies, parts and services called The Boat Shop.

Great weekend in St A..., 2013-05-05
Captain: , New Smyrna Beach, FL (50)

Vicky and I (34'Mainship Trawler) were going to overnight at Municipal Marina in St Augustine until another boater told us about high winds and white caps at the marina. He suggested we try Rivers Edge Marine which is about 1.4 miles up the San Sebastian river just south of St. A. I called Paul and made the reservation. Paul and 2 others met us and secured lines - no wind or current there. Rivers Edge has the necessities - clean showers, restrooms, laundry, a ship's store and a very casual restaurant - Hurricane Patty's. Paul arranged a discount at the restaurant for us. Rivers Edge is within walking distance to a Winn Dixie, West Marine and it's a 10 minute walk to historic St Augustine. We decided to stay there for the weekend rather than go on to Fernandina. We needed diesel, and Paul arranged fuel delivery by truck @ $3.87/gal. The delivery company operates M-F, 7:30-5;00. The driver was on time, and Paul helped with dragging the hose and fueling. Thanks Paul. Paul's #: 904.392.1990

We enjoyed our stay here very much, found the facilities good and especially liked the food, music and atmosphere at Hurricane Patty's next door.

Highly recommend Rivers Edge, 2013-04-25
Captain: , Oriental, NC (150)

Paul the dockmaster was so accomodating. We needed an early arrival on a Sunday and he was so nice. Great showers and laundry. The dock was easy in an out. They arrange for fuel at a great price and shopping is easy. We biked all around old town. It is a great hurricane hole. You don't need to move your boat. Liveaboards are welcome.

very friendly marina, 2013-04-23
Captain: , Keyport, NJ (78)

Stopped for a night, stayed a month. Convienent to grocery shopping, West Marine and Sailor's exchange. Only problem is the current if you are not on the T head.

very friendly, 2013-04-13
Captain: , marathon, fl (701)

good alternative to the city marina. cheaper, better shopping, very friendly staff and fun onsite cafe. regular stop for us. this place has become our north florida favorite. a must stop on every trip.

Stayed two weeks!, 2013-04-13
Captain: , Sarnia, ON (330)

Paul, the dockmaster was helpful, friendly and accomodating. He gave a good rate for extended stay. He's not available on Sunday's. Strong WiFi signal. Not a fancy marina but clean. Tide up to 5ft but sufficient water. (our draft 4.5ft) Winn- Dixie 15 min. walk. Fruit & veg. stand at the corner is wonderful! Music from restaurant heard nightly. Excellent fuel rate,(trucked in) We biked into historic centre, but not too long of a walk. Would definitely stay again.

A really pleasant convenient marina, 2013-04-11
Captain: , Hartfield (281)

We spent an extra day here to enjoy St. Augustine, which we had not been to since 2001. We had stayed at the municipal marina before, but the location here is much more protected from wakes and currents, although a strong current runs through here. It is a quasi liveaboard marina and all the folks are very pleasant. Easy walking distance to a Winn Dixie and a West's and there is a local veggie stand just off the premises. Best to leave in the morning before the wind gets up.

Location, Location, Location, 2013-04-07
Captain: , Evergreen, CO (40)

We spent a week here, as we had last year. Obviously, the staff is doing things right, it is now at or near capacity. Their WiFi has improved significantly. But other than the friendly and helpful staff, what keeps us coming back, is the location: superior protection, (and good floating docks), access to super markets and fresh fruit stand, marine equipment (new and used) and downtown St. Augustine.

Great fuel price, 2013-03-25
Captain: , Galena, MD (1826)

We have stopped here for years during our travels and it is a great location. Now there is a fresh fruit and vegtable stand just outside the marina with wonderful fresh and reasonable priced offerings. Easy walk to town, shopping, restaurants and Sailors used boat parts. Paul the dockmaster is very accomodating and evening get togethers are often.

Great marina - nice surprise!, 2013-03-19
Captain: , Richardson, TX (552)

We found this marina when we were checking fuel prices and were very pleased with our whole experience, even though we only stayed 1 night. Paul, the dockmaster was very friendly and helpful as were some of the other boaters in the marina. The bathrooms were clean, Hurricane Patty's is a good restaurant and bar and it is close enough to St. Augustine to walk to town. I understand there is a grocery store close by although we did not venture out. The fuel price was the best around, $3.85 this morning. You do need to give Paul a 24 hr advance notice if you want fuel, as they bring in a fuel truck. (It has a very long hose that reached all the way out to the T-head!) We plan on stopping in at River's Edge again and staying longer. Excellent dockage rates (with discount) too.

We LOVE this place, 2013-01-17
Captain: , Beaufort, NC (10)

Excellent amenities, greatly helpful dockmaster. Perfect location, very short walk to downtown, west marine, sailors exchange, and great restaurants. We just can't tell you enough what a great time we had!

Great Choice in St. Augstine, 2013-01-14
Captain: , Panama City, Florida (511)

We stopped here on our way south for a couple days and ended up leaving the boat for a few months. Don and Paul took great care of us and kept an eye on the boat while we were away. Almost everything you need is within walking distance including restaraunts, grocery store, West Marine and Custom Marine Canvas.

Wonderful service in out of the way (but convenient!) location, 2012-12-15
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (476)

Paul the dockmaster is amazing! We called on Friday (12-14-12) for a two night stay. They advertise that you can get a fuel truck with 24 hour notice, and we requested fuel for the next day. He said they didn't deliver Saturday, but if we could tell him when we thought we were going to be there he'd try to get the fuel truck in that afternoon. He orchestrated the whole thing so it WORKED! We were able to get 300 gallons of fuel for $3.65 (including tax!) that afternoon. A couple of caveats: We made it easier on the truck driver by going right into the fueling area despite the low, low tide, and there is a minimum which I think is 50 gallons, well below our 300 gallons.
Less expensive than the other marinas in town with the Active Captain/MTOA discount, and the the location is great -- very protected from winds. Currents, as always, can be surprising. Easy walk to Sailors' Exchange; less than half mile to West Marine and Winn Dixie; you've got to be comfortable with walking to cross the bridge into the old city of St. Augustine -- which is DELIGHTFUL at Christmastime with all of the lights and festivities.
We'll stop here again.

Good convenient marina., 2012-12-14
Captain: , Norfolk, VA (61)

Floating concrete piers, very good restaurant on site, West Marine and Food Lion a short walk, downtown a bit longer walk or short bike ride. Our favorite St. A marina.

We keep coming back, 2012-12-10

This was our third time here, last time was 2 yrs ago but Paul welcomed us like long lost relatives (the good kind:-). We wanted to get propane but weren't sure if they'd be open Saturday. Paul called them while we were still on our way in so by the time we docked we had a plan. He even hooked us up with a ride, very helpful as it's a somewhat long bike ride.

WIFI worked well, facilities are just as clean as ever and much better thought out. I've been to some that were fabulous looking, but nowhere to hang clothes or no decent place to step out of the shower into. The River's Edge layout just works. Good put'n take library too.

Hurricane Patty's is still a happening place - and the food is better than ever. Of course I always like value, so the happy hour all the time card is also a hit with me.

We were on waiting list at City Marina and also had reservations for a mooring ball there. At last minute decided to try Rivers Edge. Best decision ever!! Winds were high and all boats at City Marina were rocking constantly. Not at Rivers Edge. Produce stand nearby, Winn Dixie walking distance, Hurricane Patty's restaurant with happy hour prices all day for boaters. Historic St. Aaugustine is easy walk across bridge. Would definitely stay here again. Paul, dock master, is very friendly and helpful.

All other reviews are pertinent. Would add that fuel at very competitive prices ($3.75 as of 11/9/12) via truck delivery a recent addition to offerings.
Very convientient, quiet and friendly. Stayed over a week.

We wound up stuck here for almost two weeks and this place grew on us. an average bike ride to downtown, they have a restuarant on site that has a lot of local flavor. The monthly rate was reasonable and when all was said and done the owner even gave us a bit of a break since we were only there for about 14 days. Still a bit of current but a lot less wake then being downtown.

Awesome Marina, 2012-07-26
Captain: , Seattle, WA (414)

Last review said this marina was rough, but we think it's one of the calmest places we have even stayed. Located within walking distance of West Marine, grocery store and town. Don the owner is very helpful and has great recommendations for almost anything you need. Very safe and quiet, we highly recommend staying here for your Saint Augustine visit. Also Hurricane Patti's is a plus for your visit, happy hour prices honored 24/7 for marina guests. They also have a shrimp boat arriving weekly to buy fresh shrimp and a fresh product/fruit stand right there. Great Marina we'll be back

Great Staff, marina could use a little sprucing up, 2012-06-18
Captain: , Cape Coral, FL (231)

We stayed one night on 6/18/12. Previous comments about Paul and Don are on point, as they are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Floating docks are a plus, and the marina is pretty well sheltered. The adjacent restaurant Hurricane Patti's was pretty good too. They need to invest a little capital in the landscaping and "pretty" the place up a bit, but we would definitely stay here again. Fuel price was good too.

Very friendly marina. Paul and Don went out of thier way to be helpful. Older facility with floating docks, but people more than make up for it. Close to West Marine and Winn Dixie. Hurricane Pattys next door has a reasonable menu. Has courtesy bikes

We came for the cheap fuel - by truck, $3.85/gal - and ended up staying three days. Reasonable rates, friendly staff, groceries/west marine/ABC liquor all nearby - as well as a Vet's office (our cat tore a claw!). Restaurant/bar on site. We will come back.

Helpful staff didn't make up for dirty grounds, 2012-05-07
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6422)

Paul very helpful, accomodating. Well protected docks/study and clean. Clean showers/laundry. Shopping not too far but on very busy street, difficult to either walk or bike. But my overall impression was that the marina grounds were very dirty. Beer bottles and trash throughout the area, perhaps not marinas fault as grounds shared with busy restaurant. Band played late and loud. Garbage dumpster overfilling.

Stayed here for three days. Fuel trucked in at 3.95 gal, very close to the city. Short walk to the Sebastion Winery where you can pick up a trolley for around town. Nice marina, good facilities. Restaurant onsite, there is no pool or cable available. Current can get strong but not as bad as municiple marina.

Will stay again in the fall. Can negotiate dock prices for a few days stay.

I really liked this marina and rate it above most that we have stayed in between Canada and St Augustine. It gets the 5 rating not because of its plush, fancy accomodations, but because it is a well run marina with easy going, helpful management. It has all the amenities that we ask for: good, sound, floating docks, clean bath facilities, close proximity to grocery, West Marine, car rental, and other services, courtesy bikes, nice breakfast/lunch/dinner resturant just off premisis, and a nice 1/2 mi walk to Sailor's Exchange. If you are a boater and have not been to Sailor's Exchange, you have got to go. They have everything, EVERYTHING boating, and their prices are a fraction of other marine stores. The Rivers Edge management (Don, owner and Paul manager) is very good to work with and their prices are very reasonable. They arrange for fuel to be trucked in and it is fresh and less expensive than other marinas. They have pumpout. You will have to schedule to go to the pumpout/fuel dock during high tide if you draw over 4.5 feet. All other slips are deep for any vessel.
One last note: if you need any refrigeration/AC work, Hansen Marine is very good. We had them put in a new refrigeration system and the price, service, and performance were just what they promised. They are located just a few blocks away.

Quality is fitness for use. St Augustine%u2019s River%u2019s Edge Marina is a quality marina. Equally important, it is a family owned small business. I%u2019ll patronize those before a government owned marina any day.

We pick our marinas for safety, cleanliness, utility, and management. River%u2019s Edge (formerly Oyster Creek*) gets high marks from us on all counts. It is in a safe neighborhood. It is protected from surge, wakes and winds. It has safe facilities (docks, decks, pilings, ramps, etc.). It is operated safely. It is clean. The young man who maintains the laundry, heads, and grounds gets a plus by his high mark.

For utility it is very hard to beat. It has the lowest price on commercially supplied diesel for miles (and miles). It is just off US 1, and food & spirits, marine supplies (West), hardware, yada-yada-yada, are literally no more than 15 minutes away %u2014 even propane at the St Augustine Beach KOA! If it%u2019s farther, call Eco Ride, a zone-fared taxi that uses a hybrid. Back at the marina, Hurricane Patty%u2019s serves an excellent meal. Its clientele extends well beyond the marina denizens, so they have to pay attention to quality.

And River%u2019s Edge is well-managed. This is our third stay, and once again, we left the boat in their care for the better part of a month while we took a road trip.

*They changed the name because people inferred %u201CCreek%u201D meant shallow and passed them by. Strange, I thought one used a chart to determine depth. What ever one calls it, River%u2019s Edge pays attention to the essentials and leaves non-value added glitz to others to charge extra for.

The last time we were in St. Augustine we stayed at the city docks. They were fairly pricey with lots of activity. We had a nice stay but thought we'd go up the river to River's Edge this time. We will do this again any time we are back to St. Augustine. River's Edge has very friendly people and staff with a great seafood restaurant right next door. We went for the short bike ride into St. Augustine and really enjoyed the city. A large amount of interesting historical significance of St.Augustine is well stated throughout the city. Literally hundreds of little shops, great parks and wonderful restaurants. The marina has nice restrooms and showers as well as washers and dryers. It would be a pretty long walk into St. Augustine from the marina but certainly doable for someone who enjoys walking.

George's Diner was a great place for breakfast. Right out of the marina, across the bridge (toward downtown) and then left at the first street. Food was very good.

The walk/ride into town takes you past Flagler college with very unique architecture, and the Lightner Museum. We planned to stay only one night here and found there was too much for us to see in one trip into town. We'll be back.

Convenient spot for groceries, 2012-01-06
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (624)

A little pricey for the condition and ambiance of this upriver facility, but it is convenient to the Winn Dixie market just to the south.

We came up the San Sebastion thinking we might anchor as per Skipper Bob but then decided it wasn't a big enough anchorage (not really an anchorage at all) and there was a storm coming as well, so we pulled in an tied up to a T dock.

They offer a boat US discount, so the rate is now 1.50 per ft, but then there's a $6 electric fee and a $5 environmental fee. The wifi was very fast.

We had dinner at Hurricane Patties, reasonably good food but erratic service. When the storm hit in the morning, we were glad to be safe and secure.

Rivers Edge Marina, St. Augustine, 2011-12-01
Captain: , 50 Point Marina (10)

St. Augustine is one of my favorite cities along the ICW, and when unforeseen circumstances left me solo aboard our 37%u2019 sailboat for three weeks, there was no question I would remain aboard at Rivers Edge (formerly Oyster Creek) Marina.

Rivers Edge Marina has many things to recommend it, not the least of which is its excellent sheltered location. Minutes from downtown St. Augustine, it%u2019s easy to navigate to the marina through the clearly marked channel of the San Sebastian River. When sustained winds of 30 knots and gusts well over 35 rattled through Altona%u2019s rigging the first night, she barely rocked at her berth and I gave thanks that I was safely tied to Rivers Edge%u2019s sturdy floating docks and not bouncing around out on the ICW.

As vital as good shelter is for boaters, I place just as high a value on the friendly, helpful atmosphere at Rivers Edge. From free donuts and coffee every Saturday morning to the Saturday Night Pig Roasts, owner Donnie Douglas and Dockmaster Paul Walsh know how to treat boaters. They made me feel as though Rivers Edge was my home marina, and gave me every confidence that if I ran into any difficulties at all, they would be here to help me.

The facilities at Rivers Edge provide everything I prize in a marina: extremely clean coded access bathrooms and onsite laundry, a book exchange, information on area attractions and marine services, knowledgeable personnel, reasonable rates, loaner bicycles, a pavilion with BBQs and picnic tables, and nearby shopping at Winn Dixie and West Marine.

From Walmart on US1 to sightseeing in historic downtown and crossing the beautiful Bridge of Lions to the attractions on Anastasia Island, I did it all with a loaner bike from Rivers Edge. There%u2019s even a great restaurant for eating out next door, and you can buy fresh caught fish or shrimp right on E dock. Donnie will even keep the catch on ice for you if you don%u2019t want to stretch your legs and would prefer to pick it up at the Marina office.

If you cruise to beautiful St. Augustine, oldest city in America, you can%u2019t do better than a stay at Rivers Edge Marina. Thank you Paul and Donnie.

Great protected water for an extended stay or temporary dockage. Donnie will hook you up with Cooms Oil for the best diesel prices around as you are buying directly from the jobber. Just paid $3.81/gal, much better than anywhere else in the area.

Good restaurants nearby as well as grocery store and about anything else needed.

Good "Old Florida" feel, 2011-10-07
Captain: , Sarasota, Fl (22)

My brother and I docked here for three days this past June 2011. We boated from Sarasota, Fl to St Augustine and this stop turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. We liked the casual setting, personal attention, the complementary bikes, and the %u201COld Florida%u201D feel that defined the Rivers Edge for us. They have recently made some renovations ; hope they did not change it too much. Hurricane Patty%u2019s across the parking lot is a hoot.

Great little quiet marina, 2011-05-29
Captain: , Salt Spring Island, BC (50)

Nice surprise coming up Sabastian River to marina in quiet safe, marina tucked into back of St. Augustine. Lovely floating docks, so welcome, and BBQ area, with good book exchange, laundry and showers that are spacious and clean. Disappointing to find out pool mentioned in ad is non-existent, but loan of nice bicycle to enable us both to ride .5 mile into architecturally rich town was wonderful. Doughnuts and coffee served on Saturdays. Fair price of $1.50' for Towboat US members, and $6 for small trawler power daily. Pleasant staff and restaurant next to premises with discount for marina guests. West Marine and Winn-Dixie within walking and cycling distance.

Up the river but out of the way. We got tied to a t-dock so it was easy in and easy out. Brought a fuel truck in for us so we saved big time $$. Bathrooms very clean, we walked into town (less than a mile) had dinner and walked around. Dockmaster very nice. They gave us discounts and told us to spread the word. They want your business.

About 1.5 miles up San Sabastian river. A bit rustic but nice. Convenient to needed services. A bit of a walk to downtown. Good bathrooms, friendly staff, moderate to very little current depending on slip. Hurricane Patties resturant on site, popular spot on weekends.
