Reviews for St Petersburg Municipal Marina
Clean, Full Service Marina Convenient to Everything, 2017-07-10
Captain: , Galveston Texas (285)

Enjoyed our stay here so much we decided to extend our stay a few extra days. Really appreciated it proximity to the city center and all it's attractions. Full sized Publix grocery within easy walking distance. We'll be back!

Nice stop to see the city, 2017-04-20
Captain: , Grand Rivers, Ky (2206)

3-27-17 Our slip was in the south basin, within walking distance to the Dali Museum and downtown. Plenty of room inside the marina to enter the slips. We did not use the laundry or restrooms, just a quick stop to visit the city.

Transient Dock stay, 2017-02-07
Captain: , Galesville, MD (1341)

We stayed on the transient north dock for several days. It is convenient to downtown where there is lots going on.

Dockmaster is mobile on the large marina property, so call ahead if you need him and he'll come as needed. Large basin for easy docking and break wall so comfortable at the dock in most winds.

There is a lounge, heads, and laundry room in secured north marina building. There is wifi in the lounge. Wifi does not extend to the transient dock (or at least at the far west end where we were).

Publix is walkable (6-8 blocks) though the city trolley (stop is across the parking lot) could get you within a few blocks. Saturday Farmers Market is fun and has a variety of good vendors. Dali and Chihuly museums are worth visiting. Many stores, restaurants, bars, ice cream places. There was a local festival in Williams park the weekend we were there.

We did not see construction in the marina or on transient dock as mentioned previously. However the city pier is closed and being torn down. There was equipment in the water near the remanants.

we loved it, 2016-12-12
Captain: , Brooklyn, NY (94)

We stayed on the transient dock off and on for 4 months and loved it. Doug on the docks and Tony in the office take personal pride in their work and are very accommodating. They're undergoing some dock maintenance so avail might be tough and I'm sure it'll take a while being a city dock but worth it if you can get in.

Good protection, amazing location, parks everywhere, good food, lots to do, and tons of trades nearby for any work you might need.

Weekly pump out boat captain Carl just takes care of everything. No fuss. Diesel and gas, good little marina shop.

Red tide and city wastewater dump were a drag so water quality not great. Great to be sailing in 90 seconds from the entrance though.

Will be back for sure.

An all around good (not great) experience, 2016-08-16
Captain: , St. Louis, MO (1850)

I would say my rating is a strong three star rather than otherwise. We stayed here for two weeks.
I can't separate the review of the St. Petersburg Muni Marina from the entire St. Petersburg experience. The marina itself is not untypical of most municipal marinas: rough around he edges in need of maintenance and upkeep, but not bad by any stretch. On the plus side the transient dock is nice and long, we had no problems with our 50 amp electricity, the dock security is good, and they do a good job at keeping things very clean. (a previous poster said they cleaned only every day. Thats better than a lot of hoity toity marinas.) The biggest plus is that there is a FREE pump out boat in service Monday thru Thursday. On the down side, the men's room's AC doesn't work worth a darn, there's no dock wifi (only in the lounge), and it's surprizingly rolly at the transient dock. There's plenty of water to get in and out. Navigating into Tampa Bay to the marina is a snap. The marina basin is huge - lots of turning room.
The reason to go to St. Petersburg is the city itself. Whether you stay in downtown or venture out Central Avenue, there's plenty to see and do. The free Downtown Trolley is a nice touch, but it really doesn't go anywhere that walking would not get you to faster. (It goes further for 50 cents) There is a Publix nearby, but none of the buses that pick up at the marina go there, so you'll have to hoof it. There are many, many high quality museums in the area. If you feel surreal you must visit the Dali Museum. (We're not so surreal, I guess. Meh.) The art museum down by the water's edge was very good. The small history museum near the marina is okay. But the real action is on Central Avenue. For four or five blocks from downtown out to the west there's dozens of good restaurants, clubs, stores, museums and the ilk. There's then a gap of several blocks where there are government buildings, then the stores and such pick up again out to 25th-ish blocks from downtown. (Not adivsed to walk the whole length. Take the Central Avenue Trolley.) The public transit covers the area very well, but will drive you nuts with it's rude drivers and apparent lack of care about doing the little things that make public transit such a delight...such as stopping for riders at bus stops. Make sure to catch the blown glass demonstration at the Morean Art Center. Acropolis Greek Restaurant is terrific. Mythos Beer for everyone! The Central Avenue Trolley goes all the way to the beaches on the Gulf.

BEWARE: 220v Power Issues, 2016-08-13
Captain: , Road Harbour - BVI (759)

Our recent stay at this marina was cut short do to dock power issues. We require 50amp 220v service, as do most other vessels our size. The power from the dock was so low it caused our air-conditioning system to shut down. We measured power into the vessel from 195VAC to 202VAC. If you are planning to visit this marina and require 220 volt service, I suggest you look at other options (Vinoy or Harborage) as alternatives.

The facilities at this marina are so so. There are only 2 heads and two showers. They are only cleaned once per day. So, as the day progresses the facilities need some attention.

The Wi-Fi at the dock was pitiful (even with a booster).

IMO the City of St Petersburg needs to seriously invest into this facility if they still expect to attract transient boaters. The marina is packed with liveaboard vessels that mostly appear neglected. Looking at these other vessels conjures up concerns regarding stray power from poorly maintained vessels.

The location of the marina is excellent. Being in the heart of downtown offers up plenty of restaurants and entertainment. Publix is just a short walk for groceries.

The staff was very friendly. Robert, Doug and Tony were very polite and helpful.

Excellent courtesy docks for downtown access., 2016-07-12
Captain: , MA and Southwest FL (538)

Nice new courtesy docks provide easy access to the heart of the downtown area. Docks are first come first serve basis.

poor 50 amp power, 2016-06-20
Captain: , Niceville, Fl (195)

We docked on the transient pier. The 50 amp power was very low voltage and caused ACs not able to be ran. They did refund me one night out of 3 for the issue which was good of them. Just posting so other 50 amp boaters can be aware. I was told by the dock master that it was a city problem but we were also docked at St Pete YC right next door and there power was great. They did offer to move us to a different slip where power MAY be better but weather prevented the move. Also if you get a parking permit for a rental car make sure they physically show you were you can park. Parking permits are very confusing and even though you have one and park in the marina parking you can get a ticket. Ask me how I know. They did not inform me that permits are color coded, and I still don't understand the system.

Great Location, 2016-06-20
Captain: , Johns Creek, GA (228)

You can't ask for more in a location. Parks, museums, restaurants and public transportation. The dockmasters Robert and Doug are great. I was on the transient dock for a month. A generally good vibe. I plan to go back someday. St Pete is a vibrant and pleasant city. I nicked it a star for the REALLY POOR internet access. Despite the fact that I have a WIFI booster and could see really strong signals from a number of access points (especially the St. Pete Yacht Club) and I was with 150' of the marina source, I still needed to take my computer into the lounge to get a realiable signal. I was told that this is the only access point for the entire marina. In this day and age when internet access has become such an important component in our daily lives this situation is just plain unacceptable for a marina of this size and stature.

Very nice facilities, 2016-06-12
Captain: , Ruskin, FL (330)

Spent one night and will be back. Very clean facilities in close proximity to downtown. Doug is the dock master and extremely helpful. Make a reservation for a transient slip especially if weekend.

IDEAL LOCATION, 2016-04-28
Captain: , Punta Gorda, Florida (20)

We were on the transient dock for three nights. Exceptional access from Tampa Bay with a large turning basin for ease of docking. Marina staff were waiting to assist in docking and arrange positioning of boat on the face dock to maximize space for other boats. Will return in the future.

We returned again in April 2016. The staff went out of its way to correct a dockage reservation snafu and put us on the wall. Because of adverse weather, we extended our stay and the dock master, Robert, recommended a week's stay and which would result in a savings on our dockage cost. Also, the attendant at the fuel dock was very helpful in catching lines, fueling, and casting off in not ideal current. We plan on making this an annual stop.

good location, 2016-03-27
Captain: , Alabama (252)

right in town. PUBLIX 3 blocks away. Restaurants, shops close by. Current strong on the transiet dock

One of the best places I've been, 2016-02-26
Captain: , Sunset Beach, NC (1146)

Yes, there are a few glitches coming in, like they like you to hit the gas dock before putting you in your slip, but this is a very big marina. Call them on the phone.

There are so many things to do around here, we stayed for a week, and at their rate it was like two days at another marina. The Dali Museum is a must see. Lots of other places.

never made it., 2016-02-17
Captain: , titusville fl (10)

website says transient dock is first come first serve, but was told with reservations taken was full in two weeks. moorings also reserved . also said I can't leave a boat unattended either on dock or mooring. we like St Pete, but this year, we'll skip.

Where are the old folks...., 2016-01-30
Captain: , Yorktown, VA (300)

We approached St Pete with visions of geriatrics pushing their walkers around. We were very surprised to see the downtown waterfront looks like South Beach without the spandex, tourists and high prices. The young people are moving back and with them comes art, restaurants and recreation. What a great stop! Very reasonable if you stay for a week or more. The Dali and Chihuly museums were interesting, the bike paths go forever, and there are an endless number of reasonably priced restaurants. We liked Grazzi and Bella Brava. Local Market had an excellent selection of upscale fish, meat, and prepared foods.

The marina is reasonably protected by a breakwater. Check-in requires a visit to the fuel dock and then climbing upstairs to deal with the marina office staff that are nice, but not real knowledgeable about the marina. If possible, deal directly with the two marina assistants that run the transient docks Robert 727-348-7262 and Doug 727-235-8620. They found space for us that the office couldn't and took good care of us throughout our stay.

WIFI is non-existent on the docks...only in the lounge.

St Pete is a little off the looper trail, but well worth the diversion.

Great location, 2016-01-27
Captain: , Portland,Oregon (330)

We stayed here for a month and they have a great monthly rate. The location is right in the downtown area. This makes for great biking and walking around. There is a lot going on here. The marina needs WIFI. You can get it if you willing to sit near the office. Come on St Pete get with the modern era. They would have been 5 star but really no wifi to speak of.

Wonderful Place!!, 2015-11-06
Captain: , Kemah, Texas (202)

We knew when we left Texas this was a place we wanted to stop. Ended up staying 2 months! Can't say enough about the staff. Dockmasters Robert and Doug are great. Always ready to help however they can. So much to do in the city. Restarunts, bars, concerts and movies in the park. If you go you must try St Pete shuffleboard on Friday night. One of a kind experience. Will go back for sure and maybe longer next time.

Great Location & friendly Helpful Staff, 2015-10-07
Captain: , St Petersburg, Fl (30)

St Pete Municipal Marina is my home port. I've been here about a year and am so pleased to be welcomed here. Reasonable rates, friendly staff and awesome location make up for an infrastructure that is a bit dated, but functional. Fuel prices are decent with an easy in and out. Staff is super helpful and friendly. Marina neighbors have all been great.

Great location, 2015-08-15
Captain: , Marathon, FL (1264)

The location is the best thing about this Marina. Downtown St. Pete is wonderful. The customer service at the marina left a lot to be desired, very slow response. Took 45 minutes to get anybody to check us in and give us a key. Docks are pretty old and worn. We'll be back because it's the closest to all St. Pete has to offer.

less pet friendly now, 2015-06-10
Captain: , Cowesett, RI (30)

All of the other reviews are spot on. The staff at the transient dock, Robert, Doug and Mattie, are great. Unfortunately, one full-time tennant apparently has convinced management to limit pet access in the public areas at the marina dockhouse. This makes protecting your pet from the summer heat not an option, which is unfortunate for this otherwise very pet friendly community.

Nice marina location, 2015-05-28
Captain: , Apollo Beach - Tampa, FL (361)

We stayed at the Municipal Marina and enjoyed the stay. Very nice facilities; showers and restrooms are good. Great location to downtown St. Pete restaurants and shops. Nice exciting environment. Very nice marina and location.

Great Town!, 2015-05-09
Captain: , Chicago, IL (1056)

Staying at the St. Pete Municipal for 3 nights - staff very helpful & friendly, downtown St. Pete a short walk away. Lot's of restuarants & shops. 2 washer/2 dryer laundry room, bathrooms/showers adequate, small indoor boaters lounge with TV, outdoor covered seating area near the office where marina residents like to gather. No discounts for dockage ut we're told a 3% Boat US discount for fuel. We'll come again.

Great to see St. Petersburg, 2015-04-23
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (695)

Great place to stay to visit St. Petersburg. One block walk to main shopping and restaurant area of the city. City trolley stop right in front of the Marina that will take you to all the places to see in town. Portions of the route are free and only .50 cents a ride to any portion outside the free area. Marina has fixed tie along transient dock. No floating docks. Well protected. Staff is friendly, courteous and helpful. Great place for walking and exercising dogs. Many restaurants and things to see within easy walking distance.

They fit us in during Gran Prix week!, 2015-04-06
Captain: , Englewood, FL - Winter, Cape May, NJ -Summer (1076)

We called for a transient slip for a week only to find out it was Grand Prix week and everything was completely booked. No problem. They took my name and cell number and called back within an hour with an open slip from a cancellation. Downtown SP is a wonderful stop. As others stated, the only negative is the lack of WIFI. 3rd party WIFI is available for $19.95 per week from Bright House.

Great place. Didn't want to leave., 2015-02-22
Captain: , Jacksonville, FL (370)

We absolutely LOVED this marina as well as the area. If it had had wifi, I'd have given it 5 stars. Robert, Harbormaster is wonderful, very accommodating, caring, and helpful. We were at the end of F dock so if you depend on marina showers, heads, and laundry, it's quite a hike. The laundry room has, I think, 4 W/D, and is very inexpensive. I was too busy playing to do laundry but I did stick my head in there just in case. The marina is gargantuan and runs from where we were at the airport and sail club all the way north to the Vinoy. I suppose you cold request another location. We didn't know any better and were happy where we were. We were right across from the Whitted Airport but weren't disturbed by any noise. Garbage has to be carried to dumpster near laundry/showers, etc. The Dali Museum was just across from us and seemed to be so close we could throw a rock and hit it. We were walking/cycling distance from everything we could possibly need---terriffic restaurants, galleries, museums, shopping, Publix, CVS, etc. We were very close to Pinellas Trail that is safe cycling/walking/skating and it goes north to Tarpon Springs. Many of the major streets in the city have bike lanes as well. If swimming is your thing, a city pool, North Shore Pool is less than a mile from the marina. There is a 50 meter pool and a 25 yard pool. The city also has tennis courts, yoga classes everywhere. We didn't lack a single thing while we were there for 18 days which was far too short. We really look forward to going back there for an extended stay.

Right downtown, 2015-02-17
Captain: , Honolulu (712)

Perfect location in downtown St. Pete., the Saturday morning farmer's market is just outside the marina...excellent selection of food and vegetable vendors. Close to the Dali museum, St. Petersburg Yacht Club and Museum of Fine Arts, amongst other sites and restaurants.

Bathrooms are in need of a paint job, but hot water and heat worked fine.

$1.75 all inclusive for transients in February of 2015

Our choice for downtown St Pete stay, 2015-02-16
Captain: , Iuka, MS (1130)

More protected and less expensive than the nearby Vinoy Marina, but with full access to all downtown St Pete attractions. Long side-tie transient dock makes for easy in-and-out.

*The* place to stay in St. Pete, 2015-02-05
Captain: , United States (3192)

This was a great stop for us; we spent a week at the discounted weekly rate and enjoyed dining out at a different restaurant every night. Groceries were a couple of blocks away and we enjoyed the vibrant downtown atmosphere. Marina staff was friendly and helpful, if a bit disorganized. We were in the south basin, as the transient dock in the central basin was full for a blues festival. We look forward to returning for another week or two in the future. My only complaint: no WiFi, which costs them a fifth star here.

super friendly, 2015-01-03
Captain: , Ruskin, FL (169)

brought the boat over for an overnight stay so i could take the wife out dancing for her birthday in october. Called about a week in advance to ensure a spot. The day of our trip we were running a little behind so i called back and was reassured they would have a space for me and to just give a call back as i was approaching the marina. I did so and was directed away from the normal long transient dock and given directions to a beautiful covered slip away from the crowds. the Dock hands were over the top helpful with securing our vessel and telling us about the amenities (very very close to our slip). they asked about the nature of our visit...wished my wife a happy birthday and gave us some great advice for exploring downtown st pete by foot. we had a blast. the next morning we walked over to the restuarant and had a great brunch. we hit the fuel dock on our way out and topped off the tanks as they were much (about $1.75/gal) cheaper than our home port. seriously considering moving the boat over here full time.

Everything you need, 2014-11-18
Captain: , Oxford (10)

Friendly staff and a well run establishment. They are in the middle of building their new office which will be very nice once it's finished.

Convenient and a great winterover spot!, 2014-11-14
Captain: , Gulf Breeze, Fl (6909)

This Marina is 1st class in convenience, security and approved for live-a-boards. You are in the heart of the wonderfull dynamic downtown of St Petersburg. If you can not enjoy yourself here you need to check in to some sort of ALF(adult living facility) City is clean, parks are welcoming, everything is convenient, Nice Publix grocery about five blocks away Great places to eat, shop and enjoy. Dali museum, other musems Chihuli glass, cinema close, Mahaffey Center for the performing arts, Tropicana Field, numerous special events, etc. etc. etc. . Full servce Medical resources within 1 mile. Dedicated parking for the marina. Bicycle trails. Full service haul out in adjacent Salt Creek with contractors to meet all your boat maintenance needs.
This would be a five star but the basin is a tad you keep you sea legs.
Came in 11-10-14 and stayed 3 nights as a transient and still find the City and location the tops I've ever been. Doug is tops with his customer service attitiude! others are ok. Overall this operation is not managed well with regard to resource management and maintenance. All that said, I love St Pete and the marina location.

Very nice marina with a spectacular view!, 2014-09-16
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (1178)

This is a really nice and well protected marina that is run by the city. It is expensive though without ameneties of other marinas that are less expensive. The staff are very friendly.

Weekend Fun, 2014-07-27
Captain: , Treasure island, FL (30)

The Dockmasters name is Doug and he is great. I mean, he answers his cell phone, was accessible on the radio when we came in and was very helpful when we arrived and during our stay. He also helped with our power and cable TV. He checked in regularly and adjusted our lines when we were out when the tide changed. VERY CUSTOMER FRIENDLY.

The marina is clean and the bathrooms are nice, there is an air conditioned lounge in the building that you can watch TV in and relax on the couch. They are dog friendly and Doug even had treats for our dog when we arrived and then again when we checked in.

You will get a key to the gate which gives you access to the docks and there is a $20.00 deposit for that. The prices were a bit steep for a municipal marina but the service was like a country club.

We will be back as there is so much to do in downtown St. Pete and being on the boat there for the weekend made it convent, fun and safe for us to walk everwhere, eat and drink then just walk back to the boat.

We highly recommend this marina!

Almost there, 2014-05-28
Captain: , Galveston, TX (599)

Staff was friendly, especially the crew of "Muddy Waters". Didn't need to be home for a pumpout. Centrally located. Lots to do and see. Good bus service. Perfect if you've got a car. Not too noisy except for the concerts by the airport. (Small planes, no worries.)
Only issue was the surge in the South Section during the E'lies and SE'lies. Don't tie up too close to the dock.

A short walk from downtown., 2014-04-13
Captain: , Bochum (318)

1 long transient dock, with an ample turning basin, make it very easy to get in and out of this marina even when single handed like me. All amenities are on hand or a short ride away. Fuel, ice etc. are available in the marina.

Great Location, 2014-03-23
Captain: , Pensacola (460)

We stayed for 10 days on one of the mooring balls and spent another week at a dock in the south basin. The marina is in a great location and the downtown St Pete area is wonderful for walking and exploring the cultural venues, restaurants, parks etc. We also utilized the trolley and bus systems for venturing further away from downtown. Having a Publix only a few blocks away in a downtown area was a special treat as well!

The moorings were very nice and the view of the downtown skyline, ships in Tampa Bay etc were excellent. The only negative was the rocking, but it wasn't too bad for the most part. The dinghy dock was great and the north marina facilities were right across the street.

The faclities at the marina are good and the restroom/shower areas are immaculate. The south basin (F dock) is used for overflow transients and the laundry facilities etc are busy due to the large population of liveaboards.

Our only disappointment with the overall marina was the poor management of transient dock space, and communication breakdowns between the main and north offices. There was space available on both the transient and overflow dock the entire time we were there, yet we (along with the 2 boats we were travelling with) were told there was no space available. The captain on one of the boats is not in good health and it would have been so much easier for him to have access to a dock during their 1 week stay in St Pete. The marina staff was struggling to manage upcoming transients from large boat clubs and the Grand Prix, but they seemed to be turning people away prematurely.

(Timing of our stay was end of February through March 18.)

I have been here for about 3 years as my home port. Good marina, helpful staff and good facilities.

Best Marina on the West Coast of Florida with one problem, 2013-12-08

Great Location, staff, and facility. But...

There are two convicted sex offenders Living on Dock 3. Go to Offender.FDLE.state.FL.US and search the zip code 33701. Then look for the address: 300 2nd Ave SE.
There is a common gate key throughout the marina. So the sex offenders hold a key to all the restrooms.

GREAT PLACE to have a boat, many things to do...many places close by. Showers laundry etc. Publix close by. Most of the staff are just the best. Fellow boaters are stellar.

These people are awesome! They totally make St Pete a must-stop location for cruisers. And, the proximity of the city can't be beat. Tons of stuff to do here.
Thanks St Pete for your great hires and wonderful location!

Good marina, but two issues need to be addressed. Get Wifi at the marina and add face boards to cover rough pilings at the transient docks

This was a great place. Went for a week and stayed two. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Doug,John and Tony were great I changed the oil in the engines and generator, 15 gallons total). Tony picked it up and disposed of it all. There are plenty of great places to dine within walking distance. Low cost transport to the beach and around town stop right in front of the marina. A good dog park is within walking distance. You can walk to Publix. There is a lot to do in St Pete. Great Museums and shopping. If you need to go to West Marine be prepared for a costly cab ride or a car rental. Marine Supply Warehouse is much closer. Its small by comparison to West, Steve is very helpful and will order parts. Great Place.

This is a fabulous marina, with a sheltered mooring field that has a security gate at the dinghy landing.
Doug, the assistant dock master did everything to make our stay perfect, from helping our dogs to delivering a FedEx package. He gave us the best service we have ever had in thirty years of cruising. St Pete is at the doorstep of the marina and mornings, with great restaurants and shopping. We came for a night and spent a week. Upon departure, we dealt with another dock hand, Tony, who also provided great service. The ladies in the marina office were also very nice. This is a place of great value in all respects!

Downtown St Pete right there, 2013-01-16
Captain: , St Petersburg FL (110)

This is a huge, old marina right downtown. The services are fine. There are a lot of liveaboards. The offerings are very cool restrooms and an old TV. Downtown St Pete is something to see with a beautiful blend of old and new.

This marina is strategically located to all your needs. Good facilities, helpful staff. No wifi though. There is a trolley stop right outside the marina and for 50 cents you can go on the loop ride with a narration. Restaurants, museums abound. The Dali museum and Holocaust museum were great. Theater and movies within walking distance. This town caters to visitors and residents.

We had planned to stay at The Moorings on Longboat Key, but found out this municipal marina is located downtown St Pete.
We planned to stay a week or so, and after the first couple of days, decided this was going to be our port till after hurricane season. It is off the Gulf, under the beautiful Skyway bridge, and Downtown!
The only drawback is the Albert Whitted Airport on the south side of the marina.
The staff and new friends on the dock, make it a great place. The Friday dock parties are great fun, too!

St. Petersburg is a highlight of our winter 2011/2012 cruise. Marina is 1st class, we stayed a week, which means you get seven days for the price of four. City is clean, parks are welcoming, everything is convenient. Great places to eat, shop and enjoy. Dali museum, Chihuli glass, cinema close. Only thing lacking is a marina wifi, but open ones are available.
Publix grocery about five blocks away. Mooring field is now available.

We ended up on west dock for a few days, and wow is it right in the middle of everything! There was a park across the street for dog walking, museums all over, and a very neat downtown feeling. LOTS of parks for walking, and they had the trees covered in white lights all lit up after dark. Showers were clean, and the cortesey room was acceptable.

Transient dock was full so they put me in the south basin. Nice location, but the ne wind and swell was sneaking through the breakwater and was a bit rolly for the few days I was there.

I had kept my boat here for a week, and can say it is very comfortable, clean, and accessable to many sights, clubs, museums, and eating establishments. You are right down town St. Pete!

We strayed one night 5/15/2011 and dined at 2 local restaurants. The facility was friendly, cruisers lounge comfortable. Would visit again, but be sure to go with the incoming tide and not against it as we did - took much longer.

For municipal marinas this one is top notch. Earlier comments are my sentiment too.
The staff were very helpfull. Took advantage of the free pumpout with stay. We topped off our fuel tanks at $2.90 gal + 7% tax. Boat US discount 3%. Diesel with Valvetech!

Great marina for liveaboards, non-liveaboards, and cruisers, 2010-11-10
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL (537)

Just to support some of the previous reviews, the St Pete municipal marina is located in a great spot, almost in the heart of the downtown. Bars, restaurants, museums, theatres, and movies are all within walking distances, biking distance, or a short ride on the looper trolley. Well-established, eclectic, liveaboard community helps maintain a relatively quiet atmosphere. Amenities are decent - multiple shower, lounge, and laundry facilities scattered around the two main basins. A swimming pool would be nice, but there are other options: St. Pete Yacht club, North Shore Pool, USF-St Petersburg all have pools within about a mile. Marina staff and security personnel are all very pleasant.

The City of St. Pete has become an outstanding place to visit by boat. The municipal marina is in the center of the town with lots of things to see (museums, sports venues, bike riding, public market on Saturday morning) and outstanding restaurants such as The Moon Under Water just a few blocks from the well protected marina.

Good, clean marina in great location, 2009-06-29
Captain: , Knoxville, TN (1788)

We stayed here for 2 weeks on the transient dock. We found it a very nice, comfortable marina to stay at. They have good security – dock access only through locked marina building entrance and security walks the docks after hours. The docks are clean and in good condition. The marina is in walking distance to many museums, countless restaurants & bars, West Marine, movie theatre, shopping and many other attractions. Pump out service is available upon request - they come directly to your boat. The marina is well protected from wind & storms. There is a small transient lounge with cable tv and couches. In the marina building are 2 washers and 1 very large, commercial dryer that works FANTASTICLY. Also located here are the bathrooms, which have a couple toilets & showers in each and are clean. The Looper Trolley stops outside the marina to take you around downtown, with a separate trolley to take you down to the Pier. There are plenty of grassy areas outside to walk your dog, and the marina has bags to clean up after them. The staff is friendly and helpful.

THe location of this marina could not be better for visiting St. Petersburg. Close to downtown and the City Pier. Close to University of South Florida. I've found the marina is usually full and it's hard to find a time when they have room for transient boaters. Excellent protection from wind and waves in a storm.
