Reviews for St Michaels Marina, LLC
Fourth Visit, 2016-10-24
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (216)

A bit disappointed checking in this trip. I know St. Michaels is not a financial bargain but that's not why we come here. I was, however, displeased when I get the bill for an overnight stay and found I was being charged $3.00/ft instead of the customary $2.60. The amount was trivial but the reason is offputting. It seems I was placed in a "premium" slip without my being told or warned when booking the reservation (made a week in advance.) While it's mentioned in "Dockage" here in Active Captain, I wasn't given a choice. I wasn't going to demand moving to a regular slip like I had in the past and make my wife handle lines again. The part that really gets me is they claim in-slip fueling and pump-out but the hoses don't reach those slips - so what makes them "Premium?" It certainly couldn't be that you're another 30 feet away from the noise of the bars...
This was in mid-October on a Monday night stay - not a holiday.
Then, after moving around the dock to the fuel dock in the morning for a pump-out, The dockhand decided to graciously only charge $10 instead of $20 because the process only lasted 5 minutes (after I gave up when the pump worked poorly.) Even BMC only charges $10. BTW, the pumpout at Cambridge Municipal Yacht Basin works fine and it's $5.

I have adjusted my rating to 5 stars due to the owner's almost immediate response to my concerns. He truely has his heart in the operation going above and beyond to maintain return business.

I was a long term slip holder at St Michael%u2019s Marina and I have never been so impressed with the service anywhere. Ann runs the Marina with absolute precision. The dockhands could not be nicer they are sharp, knowledgeable and were always available at a moment%u2019s notice.
Michael Morgan, a consummate professional, has developed a marina with an outstanding service paradigm and wonderful convenience in a gorgeous setting.

Previous Review, 2016-09-27

Dear Captain Sullan, Thanks you for your review and I am terribly sorry you experienced fuel fumes. I only wish you would have told us -- as our team would have promptly moved you in front of the Mega Yacht. We as a marina always try to have vessels "plug in" as running generators can sometimes cause complaints with noise and how the winds blow. But this vessel needed 480 volts, 60 hertz, 100 amp 3 phase with 5 pins ... they could even have used 3 phase 208 (they really wanted to use plug in power); however, these are electrical capacities that we do not have presently, but plan to in the near future as we are seeing a huge increase in Super Yachts on the Cheasapeake Bay. I did speak with the Captain and he informed me that he would have moved as well. I suppose there may have been a mis-communication. In the end, it doesn't matter. The marina let you down and I again apologize. We will do better next time. I remember checking you in and enjoyed talking to you about Snowmass, CO. We hope to see you back soon! Thanks again.

This is a nice, tidy, friendly Marina. It is too bad that they apparently do not have any rules concerning the use of generators in the marina. We were docked on a face dock directly behind a 141 foot motor yacht named Sun Chaser. They put on the dock about ten feet off our bow and proceeded to fire up their huge generator. With the wind direction, we were bathed in their exhaust fumes all night long. I asked them to at least turn off the generator during the night so we would not have to smell their exhaust -- they flatly refused. I did attempt to hail the marina staff for assistance on the VHF, but they had gone home for the night (no criticism from me on that). My experience is that most Marinas have rules governing the use of generators. St. Michaels apparently does not.

Well worth the trip, 2016-09-19
Captain: , Seaford, VA (783)

Update 9/12/2016 Still a great place to spend a few days. A bit overpriced, but we still enjoyed our stay.
Took advantage of the pool right behind the boat. Walked and biked into town. Don't miss breakfast at the Carpenter Street Saloon.

9/2014 Very nice and well run marina. Dockmaster Mike was very accomidating, and made us feel welcomed. Calm and protected from any bad weather from the South, West or North. Fixed docks with long finger piers, all in good shape. Staff was friendly and helpful. Pool was great on a hot September day. Plenty of bikes to rent (or bring your own) and explore the the town.

Maritime museum was great. The breakfast at the Capenter Street Saloon will keep you going all day long. The shoppers will have a field day up and down Talbot Street, the main road.

We will try to make this an annual stop.

A great destination and marina services to match., 2016-09-06
Captain: , Oriental, N.C. (352)

We were looking for dockage to tie-up for the duration of "Hermine". We did not have reservations, but Chris found a place for us after another cancellation for the weekend. The marina staff were very professional in helping us tie-up and really made us feel welcome. The shower facilities were very clean and well maintained. The Town of St.Michael's is the big attraction, but the marina and its restaurants and facilities are appealing in their own right. When we bought fuel, a staff member stood by to be of assistance and regularly relayed the quantity pumped to help us manage our boat's trim. When we left, a staff member was on the spot to release our last line. Not required, but much appreciated. St.Michael's Marina earned it's stars during our stay.

Great Marina, 2016-08-09
Captain: , St. Petersburg, FL, USA (510)

We stayed here for 2 days to get our dinghy engine fixed. The staff got us a great mechanic "Dink" who towed the dinghy to his shop and returned it the next day at a fair price. All the shops and museum are a short walk and the Crab & Steak is The place to eat

Great Experience, 2016-08-07
Captain: , Herrington Harbour North (10)

We visited St Michaels Marina with family on a busy Sunday at about noon. The dock master was very accommodating when we radio'd for a slip, and the dock hands extremely helpful in assisting my family and I get docked.
The location is perfect for visiting St Michaels - it provides walking distance access for boaters to the downtown area. We also had an excellent lunch at the St Michaels Crab and Steak House right there on the docks.
Thanks again to the staff at St Michaels Marina for providing facilities, services and staff that exceed expectations.

Excellent Marina Facility, 2016-08-07
Captain: , Baltimore (60)

Anchored just W of the Bay Museum I rowed to Foxy's Grill on a calm, sunny day. While eating, dark clouds and a stiff NE breeze piped-up and I decided to get back to Haven. Trying to row around the point proved futile so I was happy to see Ray in the harbormaster's skiff offering a tow. Ray was alerted by my anchored neighbor that my trawler had dragged anchor and was stern-to on the rock breakwater. Staying with me while I started the engines he pulled me off and shadowed me to St Michael's Marina. He called ahead to their office where Colin appeared, pointing to an available slip, helping me with my lines. The professionalism of the marina staff, concern for their guests and their obvious desire to be the best makes me highly recommend Saint Michael's Marina to all who want to safely and comfortably visit the town of St Michaels.

Short but great stay, 2016-07-25
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (10)

We came up from the Hyatt in Cambridge to stay one night here. Cambridge is nice but too much walking to get anywhere (it was about 100 degrees!). St. Michaels Marina is perfect; clean, great dock hands, great fuel prices and very close to town. I've already booked a weekend in August!

great experience in a beautiful marina, 2016-07-17
Captain: , ORIENTAL (50)

we really lucked out enjoying a night at St. Michael's marina. Mike and his staff did a great job. The marina is spotless, perfectly located, and will be one of our stops in the future. We even bought the T-shirts!

One of the best on the Bay, 2016-07-15
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (52)

Another great stay at this fine facility. Mike manages the facility and staff very well. Marina was sold out both times we were here over the last two weeks, but the staff treated us like we were their only customer. Anne and Matt were exceptional, and all of the dock hands knew their stuff.

Above and Beyond, 2016-07-07
Captain: , Manchester, MA (10)

St. Michael's Marina is the best on the Chesapeake! For an overnight dockage, look no farther. Reasonable rates and excellent service. Dockmaster Mike and Dock Chris were beyond helpful at port and with supplies. Mike even lent us his truck to drive to the West Marine in Easton! We'll be back for sure, it's a great marina.

There when you need them, 2016-07-06
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (41)

Of the marinas in St. Michaels, and this is - by far - the best of all of them. First, it's location is pefect, a short walk in to town from the marina (it's much more of a hike from the other two in the same area). The whole marina is in great shape, and the people are frienly and helpful.

The fuel dock hands, and the people running the marina, will really come through for you when you need them. We were just in St. Michaels for a trip, and our Genset quit. They not only found us a spot - at another marina - but loaned us the equipment we needed to salvage the weekend.

Above and beyond. Keep up the good work, guys!

Wonderful Experience, 2016-06-21
Captain: , Forked River, NJ (114)

Wonderful experience. I beleive the name of the dock hand that helped us was Chris, but I'm not certain. He was a young guy with reddish hair. Very helpful. It was Father's Day weekend and of course they were very busy. I needed fuel and the dock hand asked if we could wait until later on in the day since they were very busy. Since we were spending the night, that was no issue. After we finished dinner we went back to the boat. That same such hand was there and come up to me to tell me that he was ready to fuel us, if it was OK with us. He stated that he woudl take care of everything if I was OK with that. I was. so he came on board the boat and took care of filling and toping of the tanks, and putting the fuel fill caps back in place. What great service. Then to top it all off, about an hour later I was walking my dog and the owner of the marina yelled over to me thanking me for fueling up. What a nice gesture. I will certainly tell everyone of my experience at this marina.

You don't always get what you pay for..., 2016-05-28
Captain: , Hobe Sound, Florida (450)

This is a nice marna very well-located in the wonderful St. Michael's harbor with three touristy restaurants on the premises, BUT, there is no value here. If their self-promotion were accurate, and their prices were not so exhorbitant they could be a five, but c'mon, for $3.65 a foot, you'd expect deluxe bath and shower faciities nearby instead of in the basement of one of the restaurants, fuel hoses re-reeled instead of being left stretched out on the docks for hour after hour, and those docks would be floating. $3.95 for a gallon of drinkling water, a minimum of $10 for a pump out, and by the way, their fuel prices are not the least one can find. They need some real competition - and to give their marketing manager a raise. Won't ever be our first choice again.

Love St. Michaels Marina, 2016-05-24
Captain: , Oriental, NC (20)

We recently stayed at St. Michaels Marina and worked with Michael the owner along with Chris and Will who work at the Mariana. We received excellant service which was friendly and very accommodating. We're planning on going back next spring. We enjoyed our stay so much we extended it a couple of days inspite of the weather.

very well run Marina in a fabulous town, 2016-05-07
Captain: , Chattanooga (220)

As you can see from 4 stars, this is a great Marina with a very helpful staff. I highly recommend it. Two small complaints. One, the Marina bath/showers are so well hidden you can't find them. It needs better marking. Two, we were put in a slip that was sideways to a 15 knot NE wind when there were empty slips where we could have been bow into the wind and chop. I think this was more ignorance about boat living than it was intentional. We had a rolly night as a result.
The French Bistro in town was the best meal of our entire voyage. Highly recommend that, too. St. Michaels is a must see on the Chesapeake.

Great place to dock & Stay, 2016-04-25
Captain: , Pasadena, Md (10)

Had a great time the dock hands know exactly what to do. fuel prices were also very good !

Helpful Folks, 2016-03-18
Captain: , Annapolis (262)

Stopped there last fall to pump out for first time in our new (to us) boat. Both recepticles were frozen solid. They helped as much as they could, without breaking anything, but no joy. I commend them for their helpfulness and not charging us, since we already had a good fuel load on board. Would stop there for fuel in the future, but would make sure we're near empty to meet their purchase requirement.

As far as their pumpout charges...instead of per length of the boat, why not charge based on the number of pumpout points? That would be a better gauge of the effort required by their folks.

First Class Marina, 2015-10-20
Captain: , Beaufort, NC (401)

This is an outstanding Marina! The dock hands, and Michael the dock master, are very friendly, helpful, and informative. One does not have to buy $75 worth of fuel to take on free water and offload trash; one just has to make $75 in total purchases to get all the water you need and to get rid of all your trash, which they will take away from your boat. That is very reasonable and easy to do, because they sell ice, fuel additives, and other boat necessities in a very well stocked ship's store. Their fuel dock is first rate with its own docking lines and protected pilings. I have fueled here many times and the service is always fantastic. It is a very easy marina to enter and exit, right in the heart of St. Michaels, which is a wonderful town, especially for its shops and restaurants. The Marina itself is a "happening place" with a pool that has lounges and tables with umbrellas around it. We always make it a point to fuel here, even when the boat is not too thirsty. The docks are always clean and in perfect condition. You will not find a better overall value anywhere! I say this after over thirty years of cruising the entire US East Coast.

Beautiful, But Forewarned, 2015-10-09
Captain: , Stratham, NH (30)

I agree with the many earlier comments -- St. Michael's is beautiful with lovely shops and museum. My comment relates to St. Michael's Marina. While I did not stay there, I did speak with a friendly attendant at their fuel dock -- the only one in the harbor. You must buy a minimum of $75 worth of fuel or pay an additional $25 to fill your water tanks or drop off trash. Further, if you need a pump out, that will cost up to $20 additional. Mind you I'm not complaining -- they're free to charge whatever they feel their products are worth, but you might want to know beforehand just how much cash you'll need in your pocket:-)

Amazing Marina - Top Notch Service, 2015-10-08
Captain: , Baltimore (10)

I have been coming to St Michaels Marina for decades and have always been welcomed with smiling and helpful folks and first class accomodations. We stay here several times every year and recently have hosted one of our customer cruises here. The ownership takes great pride in a clean, accomodating, luxury experience.

Hats off to the entire crew here!

Good marina. Great Place to Visit, 2015-09-26
Captain: , Fort Lauderdale (20)

A friend insisted we must work St. Michael's in our trip, so we did. The marina was clean and in good condition. We did not eat at the restaurant so can't comment on it. However, we did thoroughly enjoy the island even though we only had one day.

We loved the Maritime Museum. Hooper Strait Lighthouse is very nice. Had a great time exploring St. Michael's.

Great Marina - Great Location, 2015-09-24
Captain: , Hull, MA (700)

Stayed here for 2 nights on our way south. These are the highlights:
1. Great Staff - Fixed Docks are in excellent shape and tidal change is less than 2 feet.-easy on and off
2. Clean restrooms and modern shower facilities
3. Restaurants on site but we preferred eating downtown- Try AVA's restaurant- great pizza and italian
4. easy access- well marked channel
5. rental bikes and electric rental car available
6. Very close to downtown--5 min walk
7. Downtown has variety of shops, restaurants and a suoermarket

We had a great stay and will definietly return. Very upscale marina and upscale town. Take the time an visit the Maritime Museum--very enjoyable>
The only minor issue we had is when the wind blows out of the north it comes right into the harbor so you are going to hear water slapping on the hull.

Mike works tirelessly to meet the needs of visiting captains. He solves problems when they occur. The Marina has what we all want when we decide to tie up. Solid Internet, Good TV Cable, Nice facilities, great view, wonderful historic town. The best place at the best Chesapeake destination.

Our original plan was to stay for two nights but decided to extend our stay for an additional three. We just didn't want to leave! The staff can't do enough, and couldn't be nicer - from helpful and experienced dockhands to an in-slip, fueling. The quaint town is also an easy walk from the marina with many wonderful restaurants and interesting stores. If you're anywhere near the Chesapeake, definitely stay at St. Michael's marina. Wonderful place!

This is our favorite stop every summer. Michael and his crew take good care of you from the time of your arrival until you cast off the last dock line as you leave. The facilities are always kept in good order and it is a short walk to our favorite restaurant, Ava's.

This is one of the best places to stop on our monthly cruise on the Chesapeake. The staff is very professional and friendly! The restaurants in and around the marina are fantastic. Downtown St Michaels is just an easy 5 min walk and so many very good restaurants. Shops, winery, brewery, and maritime museum. If you%u2019ve never been here make the stop you will love it!

Gas Dock review, 2015-08-25
Captain: , Baltimore (10)

Gas dock hands all on duty, helpful and polite. They are ready as you pull up, you don't have to wait for them to show up and help tie you off. Gas price match against any other options in the area. Saved me 54 cents a gallon vs my home port of Baltimore.

Excellent Visit!, 2015-08-22
Captain: , Annapolis (12)

I just refueled at the Saint Michaels Marina and had another excellent experience. I was met at the pier by a cheerful gentleman who helped get us tied up and fueled. Mike Morgan, the owner, was manning the office and the interaction with Mike was pleasant and professional.
We went into town for lunch, did a little shopping and when we came back to the Marina Mike was ready to help in any way we asked.
The location is ideal, the staff is professional and enjoyable to work with and Mike is tops.
The St. Michaels Marina has been and still is my Marina of choice in the Cheseapeak Bay.

Awesome dock master and dock hands. Great location for access to town and resturants. Slip-side pump-out and fueling very convenient. Beware $20 charge for pump-out! Well-kept, clean facility with free wifi. Small pool, bikes, and electric carts available. Marina is crowded on weekends.

Stupid expensive!, 2015-08-16
Captain: , Road Harbour - BVI (651)

If you have money to burn, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, read on.

During our visit, the marina was about 50% full. I have to wonder if the high prices are keeping boaters away. We did not feel the value proposition was justifiable for the price charged.

The marina offers rental bicycles and Gem cars. Note: the cars are so expensive, if you plan to use it for more than a couple of hours, call Enterprise. They will deliver a car to use for a full day for less than the Gem car.

Upon arrival, you are handed a "passport". It has 3 pages of rules. Rule #1 requires you to enter the marina SLOWLY (bolded and in red). Duh! Rule #5 prevents you from grilling on your boat.

Pump out is $20!!!!!! Seriously. On top of the already expensive slip rates.

There are a couple of lesser expensive options. First, anchor in San Domingo Creek and take you dinghy to the free city dock and walk to two blocks to town. It is the same distance to Talbot Street from the free dock as it is the marina. Second, we found that Higgins Yacht Yard also take transient vessels. We thought it was a boat yard but it is also a marina. It is also very conveniently located to town and for about half the price per foot. We moved here on our second night and used our savings to enjoy a couple of nice meals in town. We also grilled on the boat without hassle.

Even tho the slip was reserved for an incoming club, my wife was told not worry, that she could stay right there. The Owner lent her his truck to come and go into the hospital. They were great hosts and took great care of my wife whenever they could. Words of appreciation aren't enough!!

We stayed at St. Michaels Marina for four days in July. This was our first cruise up the Bay and we were eager to see if it was as wonderful as we have been hearing it was. Upon arrival we were greeted by two professional dock hands to help guide us to our slip and were quick to get on the boat with us, help us get tied up, fueled up, and pumped out. This was the standard procedure for all vessels. I was thankful for the help, as it was just my wife and I on the boat. On the windy days the dockhands were also on adjacent vessels while boats were docking to help protect other owners boats. Like everyone else having invested a lot of time and money on my boat, I appreciated this very, very much. This is a small, beautiful, charming marina that focuses personally on their customers. While there we met several people that were cruising the bay. One couple had been coming to St. Michaels Marina for ten days every year for the last twenty years. Mr. Morgan and his whole staff were always available for anything we needed. There are several great restaurants close by and the town is truly within walking distance. The pool at the Marina and shopping in town satisfied the prerequisites of cruising for my wife. St. Michaels is the must go to destination on the Chesapeake Bay and St. Michaels Marina is the place to stay.

One of my favorite places to visit on the Bay, 2015-07-29
Captain: , Chesapeake Yacht Club (40)

I get the same treatment at this marina that I have gotten at 5 star (land based) resorts. Chris the dockhand knew my name when I arrived and even remembered my previous boat. Ann had my paperwork pre-filled and ready when I checked-in. And on my most recent trip I had made a mistake - I booked 2 nights, but could only stay 1. Mike said "no worries" and changed the booking without penalty.
Service this good and from every person involved in the operation of the marina is rare and appreciated.

First time here several years ago, we came away with a bit of dissapointment. This year however, we had a slip away from the pool and found it much more enjoyable. The staff are very helpful and the marina is well maintained. The pool is tiny but clean and is at least an alternative to the nettles!

We make it to St Michaels Marina 2-3 times per season. Like the staff a great deal - very helpful and they have made the effort to get to know us. Short walk to town. Lot's to do, buy and eat.

Excellent Rendezvous Venue, 2015-07-22

The 2015 Bluewater Yacht Sales Summer Cruise at Saint Michaels Marina was an overwhelming success for participants and sponsors, largely due to the exceptional professionalism of the entire marina staff. Every one of the 30-plus boats in the group commented on how smoothly everything went from booking to departure, and they were especially pleased with how willing the dock crew was to do anything needed to make their stay enjoyable - all the way down to cleaning their glasses at the pool! The event was such a hit that we have already booked 2016's Summer Cruise back at Saint Michaels Marina, and it can't get here soon enough!

My many trips here have always been superior for friendliness and service. This trip we had 5 boats for a 3 night stay spending big bucks. Very unprofessional attitude towards folks not familiar with the harbor. No excuse for yelling at professional boat captains following dockage instructions from the staff, in my opinion. Some one needs to counsel Ms Ann. Dockhands were obviously embarrassed by her display.
St Michaels is a great destination with wonderful restaurants and shopping.

St. Michael's Marina is by far the best marina bar none! From the great staff to accomodations and good pricing, it's no wonder they are listed in the top 25 of Power and Motor Yacht Magazine! You will love the area of St. Michael's! The marina has bikes and electric Gem cars for rent to explore. Don't miss this stop!

Expensive and only fixed piers, 2015-07-08
Captain: , Portsmouth Virginia (208)

Yes the staff was very polite when we got there, yes St. Michaels is a great tourist town, Yes the crab restaurant 100 feet from our boat was great but..... We had to pay $3.92 a foot for our 2 night weekend stay at the end of June for our 37 foot sailboat, that was $290.10 for the two nights. WOW, if your into small expensive marinas with nice staff in a nice tourist town this place is great. I would rather visit someplace less traveled and more reasonable like Rock Hall or Onancock. $20 pump out is just obnoxious! Did I mention we only had 5.8 foot of water in our slip at low tide and they only had a fixed piers.

Staff is polite but a punp out cost $20. and 2.60 a foot is a little expensive.

This marina is owned and managed by people who care a lot about customer service and their facilities.
Efficient and friendly staff, and there is always something interesting happening at or near the docks.

St. Michaels has several new shops, and good restaurants abound. A new gourmet market with top notch wine and food selection has opened a short walk from the waterfront. Don't miss the Saturday farmers market.

I wish the marina I rent a slip in (Castle Harbor Marina) would take lessons from St Michaels Marina. SMM knows how to do it right and make it look easy. Clean facilities. Friendly helpful staff. They give 100% here to their customers. Wish I could move my live a board yacht here. I would leave CHM in a quick minute.

Captain: , Gunpowder River (10)

We came in late and Captain Roy was there to meet us and direct us to our slip. He helped us get settled and made us feel welcome. We asked about restaurants and other attractions and he could not have been more helpful. We had our dog and he assured us that St. Michaels was a dog friendly place (it is!) and he showed us where we could walk her. Had dinner at St. Michaels Crab and Steak right next to the boat and the grilled tuna was outstanding. Our stay could not have been better. Bathrooms very clean and all the staff was extremely helpful. Will definitely visit again!

Stayed the begining of August and had a wonderful time. Friendly staff, great town to spent time in. Resturants, bars are within stumbling distance!! the Maritime Muse is a must see; gives a different perspective of what life was like in my last life. The tall ship Pride of Baltimore was docked there too, which just added to the experience.

We stayed over on a Saturday night to enjoy the town of St. Michaels. The marina staff could not have been friendlier and the dock hands were ready and waiting to help with tie up. We had a spot beside Foxy's which allowed for some good music and great people watching. Easy walk into the town. Great dinner at Bistro St Michaels. Will stay here again.

Stayed here in the fall of 2012, wonderful spot for a visit even though pricey. I came back during another trip this last fall while taking my grandson for an overnighter (gunk hole) to just pick up ice and they seemed extremely agitated I only wanted to purchase ice. I guess the message is, great spot to pull in if you want to spend a few hundred bucks, otherwise don't visit, that is the message they seemed to convey to us. It is a very clean marina and I did enjoy the first visit very much.

Captain: , Rock Hall, MD (20)

We were very pleased with our stay here. The staff was very friendly and helpful%u2014answering our questions, calling a restaurant for us, and helping with lines on our arrival and when we left. The facility itself is immaculate. The docks looked to be brand new and the slips were easy in and out. Everything was in working order. We had never been in such beautiful bathrooms at a marina. The women%u2019s bathroom was equipped with all the personal products one could need or want including a hair dryer. You would need to bring your own shampoo and towel. (There may have been shampoo but since I did have my own, I really didn%u2019t look.) The two shower areas are huge with places to hang clothes or towel and a seat to hold your shower bag. The shower was wonderful and set so that it didn%u2019t get everything else wet. The pool was clean and ready for use. The two restaurants on site were fine for a meal off the boat. The %u201Cpumpout%u201D worked and we purchased diesel at a fair price and stayed the night. All this said, I was shocked to see the price of a %u201Cpumpout%u201D. Thinking about, I forgave them. Since it is the only marina in the area with diesel and %u201Cpumpout%u201D and with the great number of boats that are coming in, particularly in season, I began to understand why they had put such a steep charge on it. (You would think about whether you really needed it or if you could wait another day or two.) They do have a long dock but if everyone wants to pump out, there is no room for large boats that want to buy $500.00 worth of diesel. Too often sailboats need to pump out often and yet, only need fuel once a year. The distance St. Michaels is from treatment facilities and their cost may also be an issue. St. Michaels need to have a pumpout boat that goes to the anchorages as they do in Annapolis in order to protect our rivers and bays. So despite this issue I would give this marina five stars!

Great place. Easy to get into and out of. Everyone is incredibly helpful. The historic district is just outside the marina and downtown is an easy walk from the marina. The Crab & Steak House is steps from the fuel dock and once again, everyone is great

Nice place, secured from most winds (except N-NW) with reasonable size docks. Restaurants and bars just steps outside the dock (plus: atmosphere, minus: noise till late night). Wireless is available but not that reliable (slow speed).

Captain: , Londontowne, MD (470)

And we observed the sun glasses incident fro our own slip just further out the dock -- exactly as described! This is not an inexpensive marina, but the service is way above board... and the really great dock hands are especially helpful in heavy weather when wind and current conspire to make docking in St. Michaels an exciting experience. Due to some physical challenges some of our visitors were faced with, we were focused on taking advantage of the three on-site restaurants... and that worked exactly as we'd hoped. We enjoyed a good outdoor lunch at Foxy's Grille (as always), aa very pleasant evning meal at Town Dock Restaurant, and a fun carry-out from Eric's Steak and Crab House (also as always). The pool is small, but we didn't hear anybody hoping to swim laps, and in fact it seemed to promote broader discussion amongst owners and crew from several boats -- so the additional social interaction was fun. Pump-out prices are higher than at State-subsidized marinas, but the service makes up for that. Diesel prices were well in keeping with the local range, and better than many; we didn't take on fuel -- while in our slip! -- simply because we didn't have need for any kind of meaningful amount at the time. This is our July-August go-to marina in St. Michaels!

Stopped by for Fuel, Supplies, Water and Pumpout in June. The restrooms were cool and very clean. It looked like they were brand new. An older gentleman greeted us at the dock and helped us tie up like he was a man in his 30s. And he helped us with some information on going into town. Friendly and clean.

We enjoyed St. Michaels Marina. The staff were very helpful. Wish there would have been a few more showers and some place to sit near the shower, but they were clean. Our favorite place on the bay!, 2013-05-17
Captain: , selby bay (10)

St. Michaels is one of the most wonderful destinations on the Chesapeake Bay. Great location, shopping and restaurants. Fortunately, the St. Michaels Marina (formerly Town Dock), happens to be one of our all-time favorite marinas, anywhere. This is the best marina location in town. It is the closest to downtown, sits on a commanding view of the river, and has two top-notch waterfront restaurants on location. Foxy's outdoor bar is one of the most popular spots in the entire town. Most importantly, the bathrooms and pool are very clean and always maintained. This is one of the only showers I will use at a marina, which are normally horrible.

There is almost no other marina on the bay with this level of amenities, location and service. We have been coming here for over 15 years and have always been treated like family. Many destination marinas are indifferent to your needs, as they think they are doing you a favor. The staff at St. Michaels Marina actually appreciates your business. They know your name and accommodate your needs. The owner, Mike Morgan, bends over backwards to ensure a pleasant stay, and has instilled this same level of service with his whole team. Their stellar staff has been with them for many years. Anne, one of the managers, is great and makes sure customers are always satisfied. Nate, the senior dock manager, is probably the best dock professional on the entire bay.

We like that they rent bikes on location and have a great little ship's store, which has an amazing variety in such a little space. This marina gets our top rank in all categories.

Stopped here for fuel in mid December 2012 and met the owner who came to the marina at a time we set in advance since it was winter and there were no boats in the marina at the time, thus the fuel dock was not staffed. He was extremely helpful and went out of his way to assist us. They have a high-quality brochure that you would not want to throw away with valuable information about the marina and the local area. Based on his hospitality, great service and the amenities that they offer, we would definitely come back and stay at this marina.

Great marina on the town side of St. Mikes. I have had some snotty comments from powerboaters about sailors, some very aggressive, but the marina is excellent.

I rate the marina as 4-star, but some of the weekend visitors as 2-star. If you like to hang on the hook do that on that weekend and visit the marina on weekdays.

This place costs a little more than the standard marina but it is exceptional value. Staff jumps all over itself in trying to help you. We got fuel in our slip but this is not available for every slip. Well maintained and very well situated to walk St. Michaels. We will return!!

Nice but expensive!, 2012-10-06
Captain: , Sitka (39)

We enjoyed the marina and the staff but was $215 a night 9/19-21/12.
To compare Tides Inn was $162 a night and was our next stop. Solomans Yachting Center was $109.50 that same week in September.
That works out to $3.31 a foot for a 65' boat in September at St. Michaels Marina and $1.68 a foot at Solomans Yachting Center about half of St. Michaels Marina's cost.

Captain: , Baltimore Marine Center, Baltimore, MD (10)

Quiet, peaceful, and friendly, the St. Michaels Marina is "...away from the madding crowd..." This marina, off the Miles River, is easy to get to from almost anywhere on the Chesapeake Bay. When St. Michaels Marina comes in to view as you approach and enter the beautiful surrounding harbor, you get a sense of being in the paradise you were looking for to relax, have great time and recharge you batteries. The slips, piers, electric, water and cable hook-ups are first rate. "St. Michaels Crab & Steak House", "Town Dock Restaurant", and "Foxy's" out door bar and grill, are within steps of your floating charriot. Docking at St. Michaels Marina is very easy because, the experienced, friendly dock staff knows when you enter the harbor, and you are greeted at your slip as you arrive. A staff member, or two, are always at hand to actively help you tie up and hook in to the electric and water. Because of the "hands on" leadership of one of the friendliestand, most accomodting guys you'll ever meet, owner-operator, Mike Morgan, your stay in his marina is sure to be a destination you'll want to revisit over and over again. We do, and we LOVE IT! The bath rooms and showers are always clean. The same holds true for the pool, which is a central gathering place to meet the nicest boaters just like you. After tying up and checking in at the marina office, you will find it is well stocked with marine supplies. St. Michaels itself is a pleasant two block walk to clothing stores and other shops, bakeries, restaurants, bars, coffee houses, ice cream parlors, groceries, etc. Everything you need or want is convenient. The "Chesapeake Maritime Museum-NOT TO BE MISSED-is a short picturesque ten minute walk. In the evenings, enjoy relaxing on your boat with a drink, or whatever, and meet and chat with other boaters and folks walking by. Darkness greets you with a friendly calm. A good nights rest is assured in this protected harbor, as wavlets rock you to sleep. I'm sitting at the helm of our 410 SeaRay SunDancer as I write this, already thinking ahead to the next time we cross that barrier from hectic to peaceful here at St. Michaels Marina. This historic Eastern Shore town is sure to be a "10" on your "Hit Parade" of get aways, as it is on ours.

Captain: , Middle River, MD (73)

Stayed midweek and got in without reservation particularly since bad weather forecast encouraged us not to anchor outside the harbor but that option would have been ok too.

The best thing about it was the convenience to town, the museum, and lots of restaurants. In comparison to other good Chesapeake marinas the showers were just OK and $10 for a pump out a little much but we enjoyed our stay.

Staff were friendly and helpful. We would go again.

Top Notch Marina, 2012-07-25
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (50)

St Michaels Marina is THE place we go when headed to St Mikes. We have stayed at all of the other marinas in the immediate area but SMM has the best location and amenities. There's a pool (albeit small but always well kept), 2 restaurants within a stones throw and excellent service. Not only that, if you ask for a slip relatively close to the fuel dock, you can fill up without moving your boat. You will pay more to stay here but for good reason. In fact, I hesitate to give it such a good review because the more people that visit could keep me from getting a slip in the future! Regardless, we will always try for SMM before the other marinas.

Captain: , Frog Mortar Creek, Maryland (20)

We have been visiting the village of St. Michaels for well over 30 years and we don't tie up anyplace in the harbor except St. Michaels Marina except under extreme conditions. Over that many years there have been a few times that we have showed up late at St. Michaels, without a reservation, to find St. Michaels Marina totally full and even a few boats rafted out. On those few occasions we have tied up at some of the other marinas in town. It has been those experiences plus many many truely wonderful stays with Mike and his friendly staff that makes us regulars at St. Michaels Marina. The dock hands know what they are doing. The facilities are always clean and attractive. You know they appreciate your business and you are always treated with respect. The staff knows the area very well and are very willing to help a visitor find his way. It is about a three block walk from the Marina property to the main street (Talbot St.) of town. This is absolutely the best marina in St. Michaels, and probably the whole Chesapeke.
When we do finally have to leave, we are always planning when we can come back to visit again; you will be too.

St Michaels Marina is a clean, friendly and well run marina. My experiences with the staff are exceptional. The dock hands know their business and assist without attempting to do too much. All know St. Michaels and the surrounding area well and go out of their way to help wherever they can. This experience is consistent from year to year.

Several places to eat on premises and a short walk to town.

The marina is pet friendly and Muskrat park, located directly behind the marina to the right, is a good place to walk the dog.

Captain: , Montreal, PQ, Canada (560)

Although the town of St-Michaels is an exquisite little tourist town, both marinas here are extremely expensive. They are ok, nothing wrong with them, but give me a break... 3 to 4$/foot? Facilities are minimal. Better to anchor out of the harbour and dinghy in to town.

Friendly efficient service, in the middle of all the action, 2012-07-09
Captain: , Annapolis, MD (20)

We visited St Michaels Marina on June 23, 2012. It was very busy as we came in but the staff was good at getting us situated in the slip and hooking up electric. We enjoyed the pool. The bathrooms were clean and air conditioned. The location is great for watching the action in the harbor. Only negative is the price. It is rather high, but, also, very busy when we got there. We were glad we made a reservation,.

We pulled in just to get gas and had a fantastic experience. The manager asked where we were staying - we were across the harbor - he gave us a ton of information about the city, dicsount books for merchants and told us we should have stayed with them. Next time we will. Diesel was 3.69 and .10 off if you paid in cash. Not bad

We pulled into the fuel dock to top off our tanks as I didn't trust the fuel gauge and it had been too long ago to remember. So I appoligized to Mike for what might be a small fuel buy.

My wife Joan mentioned that we had seen wasps flying around the sail cover and we needed to walk into town to buy some wasp spray. Mike came to the rescue with two cans of wasp spray.

We sprayed under the sail cover and into the folds of sail. Killed a few wasps and found a small nest. Problem solved.

We ended up staying the night and loved the facility.

Very friendly and helpful dockmaster. He shared all kinds of info about St Michaels: restaurants, provisions, things to do. Most importantly about the city dock that he oversees. We tied up there for most of the day then dropped the hook nearby. Sign at dock said 2 hour limit, but because we were there just before the summer season and it wasn't busy he let us stay there longer.

St. Michaels Marina is the first place we go to in the spring and the last in the fall. Mike and his staff (Anne, Roy, and Chris) do everything they can to make our stay as easy and relaxing as possible. The marina has everything you need. They have a pool, free cable TV, relievable wifi to your boat, clean showers, fuel, pump out, ice and well stocked supplies. There are 3 good restaurants close by. Shopping, more restaurants and a grocery store are all within walking distance. The town of St. Michaels is uniquely quaint. I highly recommend St. Michaels Marina it%u2019s a great place.

I have been comiing to this marina extensivly in the past 4 years and will do so again this summer '12. The staff totaly know what they are doing, and they each have great personalities! Never once have i had to teach them to tie a knot or have I been nervous in adverse conditions with their help.

All should be advised that through the years of coming here I now am a friend of the owner, which is more, I am not writting this review under durress. There is no chainsaw on the buzzing around the water line of my boat right now!

After you finish docking make sure you go see Lesley and Dian at the St. Michaels Crab and Steak house. Great cocktails and an even better place to hang out in the evening. Locals and tourists mix having a blast.

Captain: , Baltimore (389)

We make it a point to visit St. Michaels each fall to enjoy the town. St. Michaels Marina is a top shelf marina with excellent staff and facilities. The office attitude is not always too friendly and their prices are very expensive for the area.
We needed to take on 500 gallons of fuel and they dragged the hose right to the slip. They generally have very competative prices on fuel and will discount on volume and cash. The price does seem to not always match what was said on the phone but is stil very good pricing.

I figured I'd top off my diesel to make it worth their trouble to let me have the water so got 3 or 4 gallons of fuel. After I fueled up and was going for the water hose, I was told there was a $15 charge for the water. I did not take on any water. I felt this was a very unfair and arogant policy. I will never give them my business again. The remainder of my trip took me 4 days and I still had plenty of water. I'm sure their policy is fair for the boats coming in with 100 gallon tanks. They could easily have made an exception in my case. Instead, the manager commented on how insignificant my fuel purchase was.

I have changed my rating from a 1 to a 3 based on the prompt email I received from Capt. Kilroy, the fact that the marina has so many other great reviews, and the fact that I did find it very neat and clean in appearance. However, I do feel their policy of charging $15 for less than 10 gallons of water only hurts their business.

Excellent destination, 2011-10-11

I came here in October during the week without a reservation and got a great slip. That following weekend was fully booked, so be sure to call in advance for a reservation.

The marina itself is a great destination, but the short walk to St Michael's town and the maritime museum make this location a "must do" if you are in the area.

Agree with all of the other high rated reviews regarding this Marina and the facilities. As a bonus for you Cigar Afficiantos, the Marina stocks a nice selection of fine cigars and high-end lighters. Try the S.T. Dupont lighter, you won't be dissapointed.

Great Place to Stop. Deisel $3.75, 2011-09-19
Captain: , City Island New York (600)

$2.60/ft + $20 electric ( $3.60/ft on w/e) but worth the price to be right in town, and what a town! A delightful place to visit with good stores, supermarket etc. just a short walk away. Lots of restaurants too. The Maritime Museum is worth a visit too.

Our slip # 5 had some motion most of the time, but not too bad. Subterranean heads/showers clean but not attractive.

Everyone very friendly and helpful. An excellent stopover

Only spent one night but everything was perfect. Service level is excellent and the internet is fast. Good location for seeing the town. You can walk everywhere.

I don't many 5 Star ratings but St. Michaels Marina deserves every one of them. We have been coming here for 20 years and it seems to just get better and better. While some of the slips can be a little "tight" to get into, they have ample (and capable) dockhands to assit. The location allows you to walk (5 min) into one of the best little towns on the eastern shore -- restaurants, bars, grocery, shops. And if you need something for your boat, St. Michaels Marina has one the smallest but best stocked marine supply stores right on the premises.

Passion For What They Do, 2011-07-23
Captain: , Daniel Island, SC (310)

The best businesses have one thing in common: a passion for what they do and those they serve. SMM sets the tone with their VHF welcome and follows through with skilled dockhands and an owner who is constantly delivering. We've been here twice this summer and plan to be back two more times. St. Michael's is a quaint town with a full service grocery store less than a 10 min walk from your slip. It's a "must-stop" town and marina.

Nice but crowded marina with view only of restaurants, 2011-06-26
Captain: , Delegal Marina (121)

Staff was very helpful and courteous. Restaurants were literally at our bow. Very crowded even on a Sunday night in June. Showers were average, but not as clean as I would have liked. Easy access to town of St. Michaels, which is charming, with good shopping and food stores. Good for pets (near a park). Gas, diesel, ice, drinks, etc on site. Fun to walk around and see mega yachts in this and neighboring marinas. Lots of interesting historical boats and skipjacks still sailing in the area. Races on Sundays.

Key Location and Professional Staff, 2011-06-09
Captain: , Kings Point, New York (80)

Even though we booked our trip early, we were only able to grab one night during the 2011 Memorial Day weekend. St Michaels is a lovely little town and St. Michaels Marina is well located very near the main drag. The staff was accommodating and professional. Our only complaint was that we were charged a premium for T-Head docking without having requested it and the docking was right in front of the fuel dock and pumpout station. Not exactly a premium situation. Then, they allowed the boat in front of us on the T-Head to have their friends raft up. That essentially killed our view, the only good thing about our location.

All said, we would return. We would just be very specific about getting a slip assignment.

We had a very fine dinner at Talbot's. Also a nice find.

Awesome Marina, 2011-05-23
Captain: , Baltimore, MD (350)

The staff is very friendly and helpful. It has a small pool, and there are restaurants all over the place. This is not a quiet marina though, some restuarants are literally at your doorstep. Within walking distance to all the shops and restuarants in town. Shower facilities very nice.

Really Nice, 2011-03-04
Captain: , baltimore (168)

I stayed here on my boat in the very last slip closest to the town. It was great! The people were great and the bath house was great. I had fun sitting by the pool at the marina and I really enjoyed looking at all the massive yachts that were spending the weekend in St.Michaels. The town is great too. This place is top notch and they charge a premium for a slip, but you get what you pay for, and that is a really nice (high-end) operation!

We stopped in for one night and stayed for three. The pool is small but adequate. Short walk to town and museums. Fine restaurant.

Great little town, 2011-01-26
Captain: , Newark, DE (259)

The marina and facilities are pretty nice but the pool is small! Lots of restaurants nearby, including two right within the marina.

Best Marina on the Bay, 2011-01-23
Captain: , Woodbridge VA (80)

St.Michaels Marina is the premiere destination on the Bay with a great variety of world class restaurants and shops within short walking distance. Marina is an A plus plus experience. Staff is very helpful and will do whatever is necessary to make your visit most enjoyable. You will find a newspaper on your swim platform every morning.

You can fuel up in many of the slips and deep discounts are available for cash or checks. Marina is spotless and restaurants and bars on premise are great choices. Dockmaster goes out of his way to make you feel welcomed and is genuinely interested in you having a good experience.

Book early as slips go quickly during most summer weekends.

Clearly our most favorite stop on the Bay.

We liked it a lot, 2010-07-24
Captain: , Jupiter, FL (1236)

beautiful place and very boaty. Marina is small but in the riight location. It is pricey, especially on the weekend.
Next time we may try one of the other marinas because it really doesn't matter, everthing is very close.

Location, location, location - right in the midst of things. Some of the most helpful staff I have found - they try extremely hard to please. Definitely make reservations during the season. Worth the price to me.

Great Expectations, 2009-07-29

Great little town, great restraunts & shops, only issue is cost. The marina's charges are extremely high for what you get at over $3 per foot plus power etc.

Great Spot, 2009-06-05
Captain: , Memphis TN (977)

We stayed here two days and really enjoyed it. Marina is right down town, beautiful spot across from the Maritine Museum. Dockmaster was helpful and it was easy navigation into the slip with a 49 ft boat.

Very nice, 2009-05-19
Captain: , Stafford, VA (1063)

This marina is a bit pricey, but St. Michaels is a nice destination and the marina is only a short walk from town. Also, there are 3 very good restaurants onsite. Reservations needed well in advance for weekends (and it's more expensive). I would try to go during the week.

Upscale with great spa, 2008-01-11
Captain: , Phila, PA (293)

The spa here is wonderful. My wife and I get a massage every visit - which is at least once per year. Slips, rooms, food and services very pricy. Long walk to town, but free shuttle and free bicycles. Pool is small but has a nice view of the harbor. St. Michaels is pretty quite Sun - Wed and gets fairly lively on weekends. Put on your must visit list.

Captain: , Ft. Myers (376)

We reserved a slip with a quoted price of $2.40 per ft for a week night. Got there and they said we owed $2.90 per ft because it was a premium slip. This was after I tied up, hooked up and settled in. I said that I didn't ask for a premium slip. They said we could move and pointed to a slip over by the dumpster. That aside, St. Michaels is a neat little town.
