Reviews for St James Plantation Marina
Some good aspects, but bathroom facilities are lacking, 2016-11-03
Captain: , Marion, MA (10)

There are a lot of good things about this marina: reasonable dockage, only charged for your boat length and not the slip size, good protection from wind and wakes, and a nice restaurant. But, no one seems to take care of the bathrooms. Twice in 2 days, there was no toilet paper in the men's room, and the wastebasket wasn't emptied in the ladie's room. There is also only one bathroom and shower in each of the men's and women's room. Staff was friendly and helpful with docking.

Easy in and out, 2016-11-02
Captain: , DIllon, CO (50)

Very welcoming and easy to get in and out of. Resturant is great and has good TVs in the bar to watch sports.

Great Facility & Staff, 2016-10-21
Captain: , Cincinnati, OH (290)

We kept our 47' monohull here for over a month waiting for TS Julia to make up her mind and Matthew to pass by. The marina has floating docks and is very well protected from wind and current. It sits just off the ICW in a bit of a basin surrounded by housing. The "people aspects" of this marina are easily among the best we have encountered anywhere on the East Coast. This includes not only Jon and the marina staff, but also the staff of St James in general. Everyone was very friendly, personable and professional. In preparation for Matthew marina staff walked the docks, helping to prep boats making sure we had enough lines, etc and offering to provide extras if needed. During the storm, staff was walking the docks and adjusting lines as needed. Matthew caused very minor (if any) damage to the boats that were here and the marina.

Provisioning here requires a car. Rentals available from Southport, with Enterprise picking up and dropping off on weekdays only. Might be possible to bicycle to grocery & hardware, but would requiring cycling a few miles on a fairly busy 2-lane highway.

Any sort of maintenance requires the use of outside contractors; the marina maintains a list.

All-in-all this was a great stay, and would come here again.

Stayed here during hurricane Matthew, no damage, 2016-10-16
Captain: , Poughkeepsie, NY (5686)

The marina has 360 degree protection, great if a storm hits. The marina sits below the level of the land and it's surrounded by three story condos and there's no fetch whatever. The marina crew pays particular attention to the boats, putting on additional lines and doubling key lines. Hurricane Matthew passed right overhead, we were in the eye. The maximum winds at a nearby weather station was 82 mph but the maximum gust we saw at the top of our 55 ft mast was 54 mph. There was no boat damage in the marina other than some torn zippers in canvass enclosures that the owners left up during the storm.

They have one large T dock for larger boats (>50 ft) which they like to keep clear so if you're smaller than 50 ft, you may be assiigned a slip. Be careful of accepting C or D dock assignments, the fairway is narrow and boats on both sides stick out. Our 42ft sailboat did not fit and was reassigned a larger slip at G dock which was okay. It's wise to call ahead and ask for a slip assignment before coming in if you're over 42 ft.

They have a 7/11 type store for supplies, ice and a small restaurant but not much else. Nothing else is near by. The dock hands are helpful and friendly, nice place for a stop over.

They have one washer and one dryer, both commercial units but the dryer did not dry. It took us two tries to dry one load.

Nice Fuel Stop One Moore Time, 2016-09-06
Captain: , Holden Beach, NC (60)

On our way to Wilmington. Dropped into fuel up. A beautiful marina with friendly staff. Nice calm water with a lot of room to maneuveur. Called a few minutes ahead on the radio and staff was at the fuel dock to assist. Fuel price ($2.99 non-ethanol) is the best I have found in the Ocean Isle to Wilmington stretch.

Good Weather Hole, 2016-07-18
Captain: , North Myrtle Beach, SC (3210)

In addition to nice facilities and decent prices, a good place to hole up. Good folks too. Stopped 7/15/16 and it is still a great place. Good resturant

Great stop, 2016-04-23
Captain: , Forked River, NJ (604)

Stopped to visit friends who have a home here. Great marina. Nice floating docks. Ask for a T dock if you are longer than 45'. $1.25/ ft including free wifi Pwr for $5/ night, good showers and a nice reasonably priced restaurant on sight. Diesel $2.19/gal. Very protected spot.

Protected Harbor, 2016-04-20
Captain: , Britt, Ontario (691)

This is a great overnight stop. Very quiet, has a restaurant. Laundry and good washrooms. Docks are short so best to back in.

Good place to stay, 2016-01-02
Captain: , Norfolk, Va (195)

New wifi on each dock, 7 spots total. Deli/ resturant has good food, a bit pricy. Chicken club $10. Stayed end of D Dock on t head. Great for eary departure. Power pedistal has cable tv connection, will check out later. Boat US dockage is $1.25 "but we give that to everyone". Book swap in laundry room. Staff seems preoccupied with dry storage but will help if asked.

Nice new and modern but short slips., 2015-11-23
Captain: , Apponaug R.I. (768)

Really great protection from ICW wakes. This is a shinney new place. Nice floating docks BUT they are short. My 33' boat, bow in would not reach the life line gates. I relocated to an end T.

First Class Marina, 2015-11-14
Captain: , Deltaville, VA (602)

First class marina with everything to make your stay very comfortable. Good restaurant on site. One washer and one dryer for $1 per load. Floating docks. Only negative was the long walk from our dock to the restrooms, but heck, I need the exercise.

Wish we had stayed closer to Southport, 2015-11-08
Captain: , Oriental, NC (190)

It's a nice development but I'm not sure they really want to be in the transient business. Weak Wi-Fi signal. Bathrooms are clean but there's no privacy. Folks are friendly enough, just not very welcoming.

Very Nice and Reasonably Priced Marina, 2015-11-05
Captain: , Sebastian, Florida (387)

+ Very quiet (during week) and protected keyhole basin off the ICW. Part of a large gated community.
+ Easy in and out fuel dock.
+ Slip fee for CD36 with $5 electric was $50.
+ Very nice floating docks with water and electric.
+ Staff very pleasant.
+ Showers and laundry facilities clean and adequate.
+ Restaurant reasonably priced.
+ Small wine and deli market.
+ Loaner bikes for riding around community.
+ Free open wifi - but NOT at the docks.

Nice docks in protected harbor, 2015-10-24
Captain: , Dunedin, FL (6484)

Reasonalble price for very nice docks in well protected harbor. Helpful dock staff would not take tip. Restaurant on site a little expensive but good. Small convenience store and some high end shops also on site.

Small restroom/shower and coin laundry.

We enjoyed our overnight here!, 2015-07-19
Captain: , Lakeland (997)

This was a lovely, well-kept marina. We stayed in our 42' catamaran for just one night, but we wish we could've stayed longer. There is a nice restaurant and store for some food essentials. The laundry was adequate. The staff went out of their way to be helpful.

Fine Upscale Comfortable Marina, 2015-06-27
Captain: , Sarasota, FL (270)

Upscale marina located within an expansive, secure, gated community (St. James Plantation). Everything looks new and well cared for. Easy in/out for our 44' trawler on G-dock. Good restaurant and tiki-bar at marina. Small general store for galley needs, including ice. Extremely friendly staff. Weekly rate/w. BoatUS discount was $1.10/foot. Stayed 5 days. Will be back!

Excellent Marina, 2015-05-24
Captain: , Solomons, MD (882)

2015 Entry: We have visited several times since our original review and stand by our initial posting. Last year when we visited, we stayed several days and rodebikes all around. This year we stayed during Tropical Storm Ana and were safe and sound inside the well-prootected marina.

First Entry: With a 52' boat, we were a bit concerned about complaints on the size of fairways, so we asked for and received the head of a T-dock. We moved right in and right out the next morning. Looking around, I am sure there are slips that are hard get into and out of, but most of the slips do not seem to have that problem.

Since I was in a cast, we got "take out" from the restaurant -- and it was excellent. We were there in November and didn't get a chance to take advantage of the excellent programs they sponsor during the summer. In addition, this was the least expensive marina we have stayed at during our trip south.

Great stop 4/19/15, 2015-05-02
Captain: , Atlanta (770)

Easy in/out - just off the ICW. Very secure.

20150501 One night stay, 2015-05-02
Captain: , Colonial Beach, VA (640)

Now one of our favorite places. We had stopped several years ago and the place was not finished. It is very nice now with good slips, professioinal service, a market and restaurant. Inexpensive slip fees. First rate place. 5 miles form Southport but worth the stop.

Excellent Facility, 2015-03-27
Captain: , Southport, NC (916)

St. James Marina is a beautiful basin. Great shops and Tommy Thompson's Grill is a great stop should you need to stop for fuel and a break. Great floating docks.

Very upscale marina but best price, 2015-03-14
Captain: , Ottawa (303)

Very upscale marina with top notch staff who set us up for an after dark arrival and it all worked out perfectly with the power pedistal powered as promised. Quiet and calm. In a lagoon so no rocking. Nice super clean facilites and friendly staff and very secure. A good stop on the ICW if it falls into your plans

Great staff, nice stop., 2014-12-31
Captain: , Pensacola (160)

Enjoyed a night on the G dock, easy approach and easy exit. Nice bar, restaurant and small store. Paid 1.25 w boat us discount, plus $5 for 30a power... Well worth it for a warm night!

St James Platation Marina, 2014-11-07
Captain: , Rowayton, CT (181)

The people here couldn't be friendlier and more helpfull. When turning into the marina off the ICW very near mile 315, one must be aware of the current on the waterway; but, once you make the corner, it is very easy. The restaurant near the marina office is great and you must order the fried pickles. It would be a perfect place to wait out any bad weather. The marina is very clean and in perfect shape. The only negative is that there was no stool or bench in the shower room so one must sit on the toilet to get dressed.

one minor problem, 2014-06-09
Captain: , iuka,ms (222)

staff very helpful, restaurant good, baths clean, overall facility very nice..the only problem is the wifi is not useable in the slips making a trip to the office necessary, not the end of the world but a pain when it rains or is dark..fix that and its a 4 star

very nice and just $1/ft too, 2013-11-17
Captain: , US East Coast (610)

price is low, quality is high

slips a little narrow (we are 13.5') but otherwise a nice marina in an upscale neighborhood

Easy stopover for us, 2013-11-11
Captain: , Galesville, MD (1037)

Docking is all about the conditions, right? We arrived with light winds and had no issues with the fairway and docking our 44' sailboat on G dock. Great rate - $1.05 with Boat US discount. Nicely maintained docks and facilities. Laundry - one washer and dryer, $1/washer. Clean bathroom/shower rooms.

Great Facility, 2013-11-08
Captain: , Portsmouth, Va (174)

Stopped to stage for Lockwood & Shallotte inlets. Nice floating docks. Excellent service from staff. Remember to ask for BoatUS discount. Excellent rate. If you use the laundry, prop the door open when using the dryer otherwise the moisture and heat stays in the room and drying time increases. As reported , the fairways are pretty tight, especially with the wind up which was the case. Nice folks.

Excellent value, 2013-10-28
Captain: , Boothbay Harbor, Maine (310)

Stopped here for several days while also visiting relatives who live at this huge, sprawling, upscale housing development. The rate of $1.20/ft. was most reasonable and the fuel is 20 cents less per gallon than the Southport Marina, 5 miles north of here. The marina is very attractive with a few nice shops, bar and restaurant facilities. I would have given this marina 5 stars but I agree with other reviews that docking in a strong breeze would be challenging, espcially for larger sailboats (say over 45') as the entrance off the ICW is narrow and the slips are a bit tight. However, it is also very well protected. We had calm winds for our visit. This is a very pleasant stop if you don't have the inclination to visit the quaint town of Southport and want to push on south or north. I would recommend the Southport Marina 5 miles north of here for those who do.

Good stop, attractive setting, 2013-10-22
Captain: , Chesapeake Bay (62)

Stopped to stage for the inlets going south. Very nice floating docks. Excellent service on the radio and help tying up. Nice folks. As reported , the fairways are pretty tight. We are on G dock in 43' sailboat and came in bow first. Looked worse than it actually is. Would be tight in a strong breeze.

Restaurant and tiki bar, plus some shopping. It is a residential and golf community, no services nearby. Heads are okay but a little spartan.

Docks, electric in great shape. Water is good.

Review is for Justin with J & J Boat Services..., 2013-06-19
Captain: , Pensacola, FL (20)

Justin w/J & J referred us to the marina so he could do work on our prop. The most professional owner/company that we've met in a long time. He was prompt and kept us informed on the status. Would use him again in a heart beat.

Nice place, 2013-06-07
Captain: , Sanford, Fl. (887)

We stopped for the night on 5/30/13. We had made reservations several days in advance plus I called the morning we were planning to arrive. When we got there that afternoon they acted like they didn't have a clue we were coming or where to put us. I mentioned this to the dock master and he seemed to just blow it off. Kind of took me by surprise.

We stopped off for the night on 9/10/12. Very nice facility with a store that is basically like a 7/11. Very good restaurant with reasonable prices. It is a key hole marina so there is virtually no current to deal with. Docks power etc are all in very good condition, staff is friendly and helpful.

Great marina, but watch the wind!, 2013-05-05
Captain: , Bluffton, South Carolina (327)

Third visit here, and the marina has everything (see other comments). However, watch the wind. Came in last night with 15-20 mph wind and at idle speed gusts in the entry fairway blew us into the CONCRETE wall of the fairway. OUCH. Hull repairs to come! Maybe their are better captains, but my 45 ft, 14.5 beamed SeaRay has a lot of freeboard and she became very hard to control with the wind abeam in, for us, a narrow passage. Dock hands were superb in finally getting us tied down. Will come here again, but will look for much less wind!

Great Value!, 2013-04-29
Captain: , Kinsale (130)

Part of a gated community with new floating docks and plenty of room. Tiki bar and restaurant on site (which you must walk past to get to bath/shower). Staff here extra welcoming.

A fine stop, 2013-04-22
Captain: , Bear, DE (230)

This marina is a little tight for boats over 50 ft, but not impossible. We were told the entrance channel was 6 ft with "some silting." We had no trouble getting in and out by avoiding the lowest tide.

The restaurant is decent, and the outside bar was hopping on a weeknight. It quieted down by 10pm. The restrooms were clean, and there is a nice gift shop. The marina store has basics like milk and wine. Everything else is a far away, nothing within walking distance.

The marina primarily serves the private houses and condos of St. James Plantation, with few transients. However, everyone we met was very friendly and it seemed like a nice community. A good stop for a night.

Great stop!, 2013-01-08
Captain: , new bern (317)

Friendly place with a nice restaurant. If you need work done, contact Boathouse Marine in Southport and ask for Tony. Top notch!

Great place. Would come back again., 2012-12-03
Captain: , New Bern (318)

Stayed here for a couple days to catch up on work. Good Verizon reception. WiFi currently only works near the dockhouse. The marina is great as others have said, especially for the price... Very well protected. Good docks. Transient facilities clean and tidy. Only complaint is only one shower for each sex with marginal privacy. Overall very, very nice.

Otherwise, it's a part of a massive complex with lots of opportunities to get the dog off the boat. I got lost the first time out. Very nice "Waterway Park" nearby. A gated community, so perhaps not for everyone.. I don't fit the profile here, but my experience has been that most are very friendly. However, occasionally you will run across the person who makes you glad that the gates will work both ways once you're gone.

Reasonably priced, 2012-11-29
Captain: , Great Falls, VA (1092)

I normally stop at South Harbor Village Marina when in Southport, but a northbound friend wanted to meet up and he was impressed with this spot on his last trip through, so I came in here. The price is right at $1.05/ft with BoatUS discount. Good floating docks. The staff is friendly. The restraunt is nice, they have an outdoor Tiki bar that was closed (it is late november afterall) but I bet it would be a nice spot to relax in warmer weather. The little market is truely bare essentials, less then you would find at a 7-11, but i was able to get milk and beer at least. You are not near anything, this planned community is over 6000 acres, its apparently a 10 minute drive just to get out of the community! But so long as you dont need to go to town for anything this is a good stop at the right price.

Well protected but problems with docks and power, 2012-11-16
Captain: , Roseville MN (398)

I would have given this a 4-star, except that the docks are so close together that it was nearly impossible for me to get my 30' boat in or out of our assigned slip. Will NEVER go into a marina again with the docks this tight. -- Great place to wait out a nor'easter. BUT the largert (i.e. useable) slips only have 50 amp power, and they have only one loaner adapter - so we had to be put into a slip that was much too short. Almost impossible to turn into the sliip with the narrow approach between docks; we hit (only one) pelican pole on our third attempt to dock in our assigned slip. Also, the excellent "7/11-type" store and restaurant on-site was closed for one day, requiring us to take a taxi into Southport (10 miles). Wpiuld have been much nicer IF the store was open AND IF they do something about providing 30 amp power on the get-into-able docks. A buddy boat decided to go elsewhere yesterday because of the 30 amp problem; maybe we should have also. Helpful dock crew! $20 cab ride into Southport; groceries and hardware are NOT downtown. Pretty isolated. We ate at the Pharmacy Restaurant in Southport; excellent!

Excellent staff, 2012-11-07
Captain: , Marquette MI (190)

Very helpful staff; from assisting with dock lines to exchanging a propane tank in Southport. Trouble with a fresh water cooling pump needing replacement kept us at the marina for 3 nights. Staff suggested a repair yard willing to travel to the marina to fix our problem, then called the yard for us! Great, clean marina with reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

Really, really protected inside., 2012-11-06
Captain: , Roseville, MN (362)

Using Active Captain and Google Maps we checked the other marinas out, especially the locations for transients. Looked the others over as went by. By far the best protection. And then there is a place to eat without cooking. Great little store. If you need 30 amp and are 30 ft, G dock is doable but tight as the sliips are 30 ft there. Great pricing. Need a cab to get into town; about $40 round trip! You can rent a car for the same price for a day from Enterprise. Ate at Pharmacy Restaurant with sailing friends. IT WAS EXCELLENT! Highly recommend it to people who appreciate really good food. Each of the couples split a salad or soup and an amazing entree. Very pleasant decor. The service was superb. The museum in town is very nicely run. When talked to several local merchants about what a cab would cost as we were charged $20 for 7 miles, two offered us rides back to the boat. Nice people.
Lowes is on the outskirts of Southport (3.5 miles) but cab took us there, waited, and then drove us on for a few dollars more. Very nice grocery store.

Excellent stop, 2012-10-24
Captain: , Rock Hall, Md (230)

We stayed two nights. Great help coming in with a super, friendly work crew. They had fuel and free pump-out. Convenient laundry room. You have the option of renting a condo. Fantastic restaurant, bar and grocer. Also, a nice gift shop. My one and only complaint is that there is only one shower for transients.

Great stop, 2012-10-08
Captain: , Jacksonville Fl (1520)

Awesome place to stop. Well protected and right off the ICW. Friendly staff and the best prices we found in the area for both dockage and fuel. Gas, mid grade no ethanol 4.15/gal. Everything clean, locals friendly, store, deli, and restraurant, all reasonably priced. Nothing around, it is in a gated community which makes it very quiet and secure.

What a treat!, 2012-09-02
Captain: , Punta Gorda, FL (2709)

It was Labor Day weekend and we wanted a stop OFF the ICW to avoid the incessant wakes. We found this protected marina using ActiveCaptain, of course, and were very happy. The other reviewers' comments are good and need not be repeated.

Only thing that would have been great was a pool in this heat. Tommy's Grille was good, but check if the flies are out before you elect to eat outside.

magical marina, 2012-08-20
Captain: , Stevensville, md (10)

On our trip from wilimington to charleston we were going to push through but it was getting late so we decided to stop here. Best decesion ever. Not only was it a nice clean marina, the staff was super helpful and friendly. The restaraunt had great food, live music, and great service. The store was well stocked with almost anything you needed including the best coffee I have had since we took off. The locals were so helpful and friendly. I would have stayed several days time permitting!

Good place to stop, 2012-05-17
Captain: , cary, NC (274)

Just stopped here for fuel, but also ended up at the marina store which was decently stocked with reasonable prices.

Good Stop on ICW, 2012-04-24
Captain: , punta gorda, fl (1328)

Stopped here overnight 4/23/12. Nice floating docks. More protected from ICW wakes than Southport marina. Staff did good job helping us dock. Isolated, but marina has nice deli/convenience store and restaurant/tiki hut.

Low Country Atmosphere, 2012-02-08
Captain: , SeaScape Marina (310)

Well maintained marina. Restaurant staff and meals were top shelf. Location is outstanding.

Golf Heaven, 2012-01-26
Captain: , Wrightsville, NC (270)

I know this is a little off the subject, but this marina is located in a neighborhood with three world class golf courses. If golf is your thing, take advantage of your stay.

Convenient., 2011-12-10
Captain: , Red Lion, DE (712)

2011-12-6 This was our 2nd stay here and we will definately stay again in the future. While making my way up the dock to the Dockmasters office I was engaged in conversation by five different slip holders. A couple of them offered yo drive us to the grocery store if we needed supplies. Can't get much friendlier than that. The restaurant and mini-mart type store make this a very convenient stop-over. The facilities are kept in tip-top shape.

Can't beat the price point!, 2011-11-20
Captain: , Solomons, MD (1915)

Southport is usually an overnight stop for us and you cannot beat the price for the slips here if you take advantage of the BOATUS discount. Nice little bar & restaurant located in the marina. Artisan shop that feaures some excellent local crafts. We were on the "G" dock and although the finger slips were not as long as we were (44'), we went stern to and it was not an issue. Docking staff was extremey helpful. I think we'll make this out preferred stop in Southport in the future!

Interesting philosophy here, 2011-11-14
Captain: , Westbrook, CT (453)

Docks, people, atmosphere was great. One shower per sex in the marina, and they ran out of hot water. 50 amp electrical only, no 30. We arrived at 4 PM, and there was a rush for fuel. Pumpouts were eliminated to cut the wait time.
Boat drawing 6 feet had to wait for a period past low tide to get in (although we at 5.5 fet had no issue at low tide).
Rating would have been 5 stars without the shower, power, and pumpout issues.

As good as it gets, 2011-11-11
Captain: , Solomons, MD (60)

This is a terrific stop. Well protected from ICW wakes (unlike South Harbor Village or Southport Marina to the east). The basin offers 360 degree protected. Nice convenience store (milk, wine, beer, etc.). Onsite restaurant - we found it "okay". Very nice staff and ...way cheaper than the other Southport alternatives. Highly recommended.

Easy, quiet, friendly, inexpensive..., 2011-11-11
Captain: , Stone Mountain, GA (180)

If you need to do heavy shopping, this is not the place for you. Other than that, it's the ideal stop. Easy to get in/out, beautiful setting (private, gated community), good docks, on-site restaurant/market, well protected and, with BoatUS discount, only $1.05/ft (with 50 amp service I paid $54 for my 45' trawler).

stopped on 11/01/11, 2011-11-05
Captain: , Bear, DE (255)

Probably the second nicest marina along the way (next to River dunes, NC). Very nice atmosphere, clean, and priced very reasonably. Not near too much and the showers are limited. I would have rated 4 stars but the ambiance makes up the difference.

11/3/11 This was a pleasant stop. Very helpfudock master, Wayne, stayed late and guided us in and helped us tie up. Floating docks are fine. Finger piers are not long on, D dock, and you may want to back into slip. Would be good to know ahead of time. Rates are great especially with Boat Us discount. Wifi excellent with Verizon. Marine wifi not good at all. Location at MM 315 is not convenient to town however they have Tiki Bar, restaurant, small grocery shop with basics, ship store, gift shop. A great walking and jogging area. Beautiful homes and golf course Did not need or use shower or Laundry facilties. Will come back.

Agree with the reviews below. A bike ride around the area was enjoyable just looking around at the homes in the area. There is a public walking trail (not very long but fun - play gym and dock leading out to the waterway. Overall a great stop - especially at $1.05 a foot!

very nice marina with just about everything a cruiser would need. great store for supplies for the galley more than just the basics. Theres a deli/resturant that serves breakfast lunch and dinner. nice rest rooms and laundry room though it has limited hours. 8 to 5
And a TIKI bar, what more could you ask for? well I gave 4 stars because of a lack of a courtesy car. This is a private gated community so very safe if you need to leave the boat. The boat owners own homes here and are super nice and we got offers of car rides to stores. One man gave us a 2 hour tour of the area and had just opened a marine consignment business. Which is always a welcome business to boaters. SO if you see Rusty or Sid you may get a guilded tour.

We laid up going north waiting for a more optimum tide/weather window on the Cape Fear River. The staff was proffesional, courteus and competent. An associated pub-restaurant called "Tommy Thompson's" caters principally to the resident club community featuring discounted daily specials -- like $3 Margaritas and $6 fish tacos. Not bad at all. Monopod bathrooms, showers and a coin-op laundry were good too, but as usual, unused by the designer/architect -- not enough hooks.

My wife is very adament about amenties. No courtesy vehicle here, but who needs it with everything needed here on site? Tell me of ANY marina with more amenties, better amenities and boaters, and cheaper cost than St. James Plantation Marina and we'll go there. We're a retired teacher and Fire Fighter couple from Detroit and world travelers. Buy a 50a to 30a adapter from West Marine and be ready for other marinas as you head out and you will be all set. $1.05 per foot, hah we were told by a marina North of here their rates were $2.50 per ft, $5.00 for trash or garbage and $5.00 for water. Without competition what do you expect? Ask St. James Plantation Marina with affordable rates FOR ALL.

Excellent marina, 2010-11-14

THis will be a regular stop for us. We found the staff and facilities to be excellent. The restaurant was very good.

Nice marina, beautiful gift shop, good dock bar, 2010-11-06
Captain: , Lansdale, PA (330)

Marina is conveniently located just off the ICW. The docks are in excellent condition and the property is very nice. We had reserved a slip with 30 amp electric, but were put in one that didn't have it and they don't have a splitter, so we had to move to a different slip. The gift shop is filled with reasonably priced items from local artisans. There is a convenience store onsite. We didn't eat at the restaurant, but enjoyed the outside dock bar.

Well protected. Convenient to ICW. Good, clean bathrooms (which are open 24 hrs., contrary to some reports). No courtesy car. Nothing nearby, but the onsite restaurant is very good.

Good place to stop, 2010-01-16
Captain: , Newville (488)

Stopped on the way south due to oncoming weather. Dockmaster/staff great. Only 50 amp available at larger (>30' ) slips. No adapters available. OK' use of generator. Store seems pricey. Local scenery is lovely for walking around. Would probably stop again

Lot's of friendly boaters at this marina. Easy in and out. NO wave action at all and no current to dock. If you are a golfer you have 4 18 hole courses and some if the nicest walks amoung the beautiful homes.

How much fun can you have?, 2009-10-01
Captain: , Merritt Island, Fl. (168)

We arrived on a Tuesday, sat on the afterdeck with a drink, and within ten minutes there were four couples from neighboring boats with drinks in hand, tradiing cruiising stories. At dinner, we shared a table with a local couple and learned all about the history of St. James Plantation. A disk jockey played goodmusic from 6-9 and we enjoyed it very much.
In all our travels, which include a loop, the Tennessee River, numerous trips up and down the ICW, the keys and the
Bahamas, we have never been to a marina that was more fun.

Great marina with shops and a restaurant. Only 1.05ft. for Boat US and they give a discount for fuel. The golf course was outstanding.
Food good at the restaurant.

Seemed nice but after specifically asking about 30 amp before arriving, they didn't have 30amp (they were willing to sell us a $300 adapter).
